The staff at hot dumplings are always super friendly, I got a free slice of watermelon while I waited for my food 🥰 I always get vegan options there and the meals are always outstanding! The only place in Aberystwyth where I can get tasty tofu 😍

We found this place by chance whilst on holiday and decided to give it a go. We had crispy duck for starters which was a huge disappointment. The duck was dry and had never been crispy, the pancakes had mould in them and the cucumber and onion had seem better days. Our main was a mixed bag, my husband’s special chow menu was tasty however my chicken in peking sauce was not nice at all. I ordered a mushroom fried rice which was nice. If I lived here, would I go again. No, sorry I wouldn’t. Take away food is a treat and this was no treat.

I was so excited to try out the new vegan set meal for two and I was with my friends who can vouch for me that I ordered a vegan one. I got delivered a meat one and when I called to say it's wrong they told me it was entirely my fault because I didn't say vegan, which is untrue, I am completely cetrain I did, I am vegan so I cant even eat the food I paid £20 for, its going to waste now. In the end they told me they can give me a vegan one for half the price, but insisted that it is just this one time and that is all my fault. I am extremely disappointed, I love the food, its great, however I am not happy with the costumer service at all.

We have been visiting hot dumplings since we moved to the area 6 years ago. We have always had amazing food from there, all the dishes are excellent. We have used them more often recently and have never ever had a bad meal from there. There range of Salt and Chilli dishes are incredible !!! (Especially the Chips and Chicken) The dumplings are home made and are just so nice. They also have a range of special dishes like Sea Spicy Beef/Salt and Chilli Combination and others so the choices are excellent. All the food is cooked and prepared fresh and tastes delicious, I highly recommend them

I've been getting takeaways from here for 3 years now and it's my favourite, I've tried a lot of Chinese food. This is a great chow mein and amazing spring rolls. I love the free fortune cookies and the salt and chilli chicken is so tasty. Very reasonably priced so it's an all round good experience and amazing food. Could not recommend more!

Went off google reviews as to why I ordered here when we was on holiday. What a waste of money. Had a beef curry which the sauce looked pink and had jelly at the top as if they are batch cooked and frozen. It lacked taste and was pretty much inedible. Also had salt and chilli chicken which was just full of salt. The chips were soggy and overcooked. Waste of money... by far the worst Chinese I’ve ever had. Avoid!

We visit Hot Dumplings once a month as our treat meaning we have visited 60 times so far. The food is always excellent, freshly cooked while you wait. Unlike some restaurants of similar caliber Hot Dumplings food is neither too garlicky nor over seasoned. I absolutely adore their pancake rolls (with meat), their squid and their King prawn with cashew nut. . . . Oh my word, I am drooling just thinking about it! I highly recommend Hot Dumplings whether you are a visitor to Aberystwyth or a resident in the area. 100%

One of, if not the best takeaway in Aber. Friendly staff and great food. particularly recommend the lemon chicken, honey roast chicken, meat roll and chicken and sweetcorn soup! Just remember it is closed on Tuesdays.

Ate here twice during my stay in Aberystwyth, their vegetarian dumplings are delicious! 100% recommend.

I've had lovely food from these guys for more than a year but the last two home deliveries have been DISGUSTING!!! I'm sooo disapointed. The curry sauce used to be rich and spicy but now.... I can't even think of a way to describe the flavour.

After receiving a delivery menu through the door we thought we’d give Hot Dumplings a chance. We decided to give this place a go instead of our usual Saturday evening Chinese takeaway. The delivery charge of £5 on top was a bit more expensive but since we had a menu we will give it a try. It arrived by courier after 45mins and when I plated up I noticed that the moorish takeaway smell was missing. Prawns chewy & far to fishy( did not eat) shredded beef insipid and tough. Chips floppy and raw. Curry sauce clotted and lumpy.special chow mein anything but special. We Couldn’t eat it because we didn’t want to be I’ll. The bill was £33-£35 with tip and was refunded £17. Such a shame as really looking forward to it.☹️

Been going to Hot Dumplings for more than 3 years now,and I am happy to say that i've never been dissapointed and the food was always amazing!!

Have been a massive fan of Hot Dumplings for years but I heard a rumour that the previous owners may have left? I’ve tried it twice in the last month and both times the food has not been good. The ribs are cooked to within an inch of their life and what should be simple noodle dishes are beyond oily and incredibly salty, I like salty food but this was ridiculous and the amount of oil was insane. Also the taste of everything was different so something has definitely changed. So disappointed. The food here was out of this world!! So on that note, so long Hot Dumplings it’s been emotional.

Ordered chilli chicken which was all squidgy and not a good quality. Also the chicken balls were also over cooked and I wouldn’t recommend. On the other hand, the delivery was quick and the chips were very nice.

Was a super takeaway. Since retirement of previous owner, have tried was disappointed. Gave second chance tonight , it was terrible. Special chow me in hose special? No prawns little meats. Just noodles. Don't bother.

Person answering phone didn't know what 'vegan' meant. Then spoke to their boss who said yes, my meal would be vegan. Turned out to have egg noodles in it.

This is by far the best Chinese in Aber, nowhere else comes close. We were surprised at the quality and value for money of the food. Given that its not on Just Eat or deliveroo we were over the moon when we found this little gem. Now when we go home for summer (students) we find ourselves craving Hot Dumplings Chinese over any other.

The choice of food is good, is always cooked fresh to order and tastes really good. the delivery service is fantastic. You'll always get an honest view on how long the food will take and it's pretty accurate, which is rare for others.

Whenever I feel like a Chinese in Aberystwyth this is the standard go to takeaway.The meals always taste more authentic than your typical Chinese takeaway and the price is reasonable too. If you are ever unsure what to order, try the Salt and Chilli squids (88, £5.50); it's priced like a main but won't disappoint.I decided to go here for Chinese New Year 2016. I was going to have it delivered but I couldn't justify the deliver charge of £4 for the 2.4 mile (5 min) trip. They said they would have my order ready at any time if I wanted to collect myself, so I went for this option. I could make my own rice so ordered a starter of small BBQ ribs in Peking sauce (10a, £3.60) and a main of Panang red Beef curry (205, £5.00).The main was some what disappointing even though I had heard recommendations for their Thai meals in the past. The beef was tender and the ribs nicely flavoured, but the main was unauthentic, creamy in colour with no hint of red and tasted quite bland. Although the sauce was thick, there was almost no spice, and rather than having a creamy coconut taste the numerous chunks of pineapple over-powered the dish.I would have rated Hot Dumplings lower based on this dish and their food hygiene ratings being 2 last year, but I have enjoyed many a meal from here in the past and they do go some way to explaining their poor food hygiene ratings. I would still recommend this Chinese takeaway over the others, but I would avoid the Thai dishes.

We've been regular clients of Hot Dumplings for several years now and cannot rate them highly enough. The food is always of a very high standard, tempura batter light and crisp and never greasy, sauces very tasty and their Thai dishes are especially good. The service is always friendly and helpful, and delivery service (within 4 miles) very handy. The only problem is that if we're away and have to get a takeaway anywhere else - it's never as good!!!

Reviews talked this place up. They were friendly but the rating of "2" by the food standards agency should have warned me. Meal tasted OK, if a bit too heavy on source - and fried egg with chow mein? Felt unwell after going to bed.

If you feel like a Chinese food and you're in Aber, Hot Dumplings is the one to choose. Original taste of China in a wide range of dishes available in many combinations. Worth trying!

I ordered a delivery from here last week an the food was faultless was very happy, so this evening I go an collect my order so so disappointed the chicken balls were reheated an chewy, rice cold in the middle, sweet & sour sauce like water, chow mein cold all in all not good an very disappointed an hungry

This is great. When we go down the caravan now on a Friday sometimes we come here and it is fab. My dad dosent usally likr chinese but this time it is lovley he always says. The hygine is a 5*. Me and my mom had chicken and beef curry with noodles chips. You do have to wait a lityle bit but you cant go out of the shop if you want or there is magazines and newspapers in there you can read while waiting. When me and my dad went we went to the shop and then comr back and it was done. The shop is only down the road from Hot Dumplings. Hope you enjoy your meal.

Hot Dumplings is probably the best quality Chinese take-away in Aber. The food is always consistently excellent and fresh. Their dumplings really are delicious, and they've a great vegetarian range. Staff are exceptionally friendly.

Great, convienate take away!! But most of all food is soo good!! We always have the sweet n sour chicken balls, duck in honey and lemon chicken!! I've tried many Chinese restaurants not just in Aber but this take away tops them!! I'd definitely recommend!! Food is quality, not stale and flavourless like some take aways I've had previously in other places!

I've been here couple of times. It was not my regular chinese takeway but it deffinately is now! Love it! It is so cheap and you get a very good portion of food! Whenever you need a takeaway in aberystywth this is the place to go!

Have previously been loyal to another Chinese takeway in town but have recently felt left down by the service and standard of food served up, so decided to try the Hot Dumplings out after a couple of drinks in Harrys (nearby, decent place for a drink). The food we ordered was very good, fresh, good portions, well presented and tasty. It was all ready on time and overall you couldnt fault it. We'll use this place again.

I order from here frequently and the food is consistent . Always fresh, hot and full of flavour . I always seem to struggle to choose as the choice is so good and I have never been disappointed . Always more than enough sized portions and the only time I've had issue with salt content is when I've literally over eaten and stuffed myself. Great food and great staff .

Had a couple of meals from here in the past month, the thai red curry was good but not quite as hot as expected, and my pepper beef was really nice but a touch on the salty side. The veg in our dishes was cooked to perfection, and my non-Chinese eating husband has actually started angling for us to go back so he can have what I had last time. It was recommended to us and I'd have to agree about the very good staff. We don't eat takeaway as a rule as some of the other places in Aber trade off making second rate food because of the student market (An owner of one of the Indians has actually said to me that they do smaller portions and not to the same standard in Aber as their other restaurants because of the students, so this isn't make believe), but this is somewhere we'd definitely go back to.

Arrived on time and I got what I ordered- trouble was it bore very little resemblance to what I'd previously had (I'm sad, I have the same every time!). Chips were half the portion I've had before (for the same price) and greasy, rice was (as others have said) more salt than anything, and the crispy shredded beef was inedible- limp and chewy with barely any sauce at all. It has always previously been covered in a bright red sticky sauce and served with a few onions but this time it was an off brown with a watery pink gloop in the bottom of the tray and drowning in undercooked onions. I would have taken it back but I'd had a drink and didn't want to drive. They are closed on Tuesdays and I'm not keeping it any longer to show them. So disappointed but it really was so awful I won't be going back. It wasn't truly terrible but in relation to what I've had before I'd rather they really hadn't bothered turning up.

I'd love to know when laurafoody1 was there as I had the same experience there. I eat out a lot with my job and never have I ever had a more salty meal than here. Real big shame as the front of the shop looks well kept and invites you in. The food was hot and well presented. Fair priced for a working person, but what with a university just up the road I guess that most students would only use this take away once a month.. I would use it again, however if the food was as salty as last time I would be heading back for a full refund and head elsewhere.

Went here for a takeaway whilst on holiday in the area. Chose this takeaway after seeing all the positive reviews on trip advisor and the fact it had a 5* hygiene rating. The food was hot and prepared quickly, average prices but I've never tasted such salty food from a Chinese before. Our mouths were tingling because of this, we had to leave most of it and drank loads of water after. Wouldn't return again ever.

Brilliant food, and the delivery is prompt. However, note that there is a £1 delivery charge, it does not seem to say this on the menu.

Very nice and friendly staff whoAdvised me what my wife could have because if food allergies and provided photos of some of the food. Not cheap but generous portions and plastic boxes so can reuse them again!

Can't find a single complaint. Second delivery from them in a month and fantastic both times. Prompt friendly service, easy to read menu, fair pricing and no add on for delivery, efficient delivery (were here sooner than they said both times, and it's quite a challenge to find my house). Good food too- by far the best in Aber if not Ceredigion. Keep it up- I'm sooo pleased to have a chinese I cab really enjoy.

This was our first time of trying Hot Dumplings and we are already planning our next trip! I had beef chow mein and prawn crackers and my boyfriend had crispy beef and egg fried rice and we could not fault any of it. The staff were pleasant, the food was served quickly and most importantly really delicious. Will definitely be returning!

I used to eat out here alot while at University. The lady who was front of house was always welcoming and knew all customers by their first names. She would always remember what you discussed in the past and would know your order by heart. She even taught me how to use the ticket machine in the shop due to my curiosity!The food is the best, my friends would come to Aberystwyth and the first place they would stop would be hot dumplings. I would recommend their banana fritters and mix of buns! Lemon chicken and Chicken Pad Thai Jay :) Not to be missed

Food is prepared instantly and always tastes great. Run by a very nice Chinese lady! With a huge choice of Chinese places in Aber, this one beats them all!
