I expected so much better. Rare chance to go out with husband for our wedding anniversary and secure a baby sitter. So disappointed we wasted the opportunity here. The food just wasn’t worth the money. The ricotta and courgette was nice, and the staff were lovely- thats about it. Aubergine with labneh was so hard could you had to saw it with the knife. Pork chop with salsa verde with flavourless. Pork was cooked nice but the salsa verde tasted like nothing compared to others I’ve had. The pasta dish was like something I would make for a mid week tea. Tables crammed so closely together you feel like you are joining the other tables conversation. Wine was average and Hendricks not served the usual way in regard to tonic used and a lime.

The atmosphere was lovely and the vibe was right but the food doesn’t live up to the hype for me. The pasta I ordered was the tagliatelle with oyster mushrooms. The pasta was a tad underdone and not al dente, I could see the vision with this dish but the sauce was so overpowering that it muted the flavours of the mushrooms, spring onions and hazelnuts. The portions were also very small so you have to fill up on sides if you are a big eater like I am. It was nice to try but I wouldn’t go back as there is a lot of restaurants in the west end with good quality food for the same price.

Whole experience was stunning, food, service, ambience... chef super clear about what was possible for me with veggie/dairy free dietary preferences too. The pasta was insanely good, the focaccia was the best we've ever tasted. Great wine pairings and staff who know what they'r talking about. Can't wait to go back!

We had an itison voucher for 2 glasses of wine and 2 pasta dishes. You go up the stairs and it's like a tenement house with different rooms. You could see into the kitchen, another eating room, a cocktail bar Rascals and Hooligans restaurant. The room had around 10 tables and was very nice. We had the focaccia with pecorino custard. Lovely soft bread and very cheesy spread. Next for me courgettes with ricotta and honey. A tasty delight crispy light and lemon ricotta. Hubby had the mushroom pasta and orange wine then a pork chop. I had the rosemary and caramelised onion pasta. Everything super fresh and serviced fab. We will be back.

My husband and I visited Hooligan today for lunch using an Itison voucher and it did not disappoint! First time visiting here and it won't be last! We absolutely loved it😮💨🍽️🦪🍤🍝🍮 The food was so fresh, reasonable prices, service was excellent (I wish we got the name of our server, she was very efficient and friendly, also looking after the whole room on her own) and it was a nice atmosphere too. Located on Lynedoch Street not far from Charing Cross📍

Enjoyable evening. Please fix your ventilation/extraction. Absolutely stinking upon getting home. All clothes in to the washing machine. Pleasant staff. Food varied. Starters excellent. Mains great too but portion sizes incredibly small. If going back I'd have a small plate then pasta then main. Focaccia good. Custard excellent. If serving lardo it should be wafer thin. Here it was thick and hard to chew. Desserts poor. Tasteless tart with old sofy pastry. Didn't taste at all fresh. Olive oil ice cream lovely though frozen solid and not creamy. Cocktail bar next door is excellent.

Food was really good, I ate 2 pasta dishes and they both were amazing. The ox cheek ragu and the sausage/nduja - loved them both. The focaccia prob could be a bit better, was a little too dense. But overall had a great time and the wine was great. Cocktails too

I was gifted an Itison voucher for a bottle of prosecco and a cheeseboard. Visited on Saturday afternoon with my friend. We were the only ones in the dining area so there wasn’t much atmosphere and we were pretty much left to our own devices. We had to tell staff on more than one occasion that it was a bottle of Prosecco and not a glass, going as far as having to ask where our bottle was after we finished our first glass as it had been taken away. The ‘cheeseboard’ which arrived was unlike any cheeseboard I’ve ever had. Two small pieces of Brie, two small triangles of another cheese and a wedge of blue with six small crackers and some quince. This was served to us on a side plate and not a board. The entire selection was extremely lacking and totally underwhelming. The presentation left a lot to be desired. The limited selection and total lack of atmosphere as well as poor service by staff mean that I won’t be rushing back any time soon.

I have to say I had higher expectations after visiting Hooligan's for the first time. The staff were very friendly and the place had a great atmosphere, however the portion sizes were small and overall feel like the food was ok, but overpriced. There are plenty of similar style places in Glasgow with better quality food for the same price or less. Such a shame!

Mixed feelings from visit in dec. Portions were on the small side compared to other sharing plate style restaurants in the city. One plate turned up a while after everyone on the table had finished. Offered cocktails post-meal and after 45mins of waiting had to ask where there were, offered 15% off these cocktails which I didn't think was enough considering the wait. Restaurant was lovely looking and atmosphere was good.

Nice location and staff were friendly and attentive. Have to admit that the food was just ok. Most dishes sounded better on the menu than tasted on the plate. Not quite sure where they are going with the menu, a slightly random selection of Tex Mex and dishes you might expect to find on fine dining menu. Cured monkfish to corn fritters; none of which were executed with much finesse. There were issues with most of the plates we sampled; undercooked spices in the cauliflower satay, overcooked fritters, monkfish way overcured to the point of having no texture and so on. That being said the meal was not unpleasant and certainly not something that would warrant a complaint for the price. The cherry sorbet/ chocolate dessert was however excellent but sadly not enough to have me rushing back anytime soon.

We loved Hooligan. Quirky decor, and delightfully low key vibe, meant the atmosphere was really relaxed whilst the food was absolutely outstanding. The wine was good too and everything keenly priced. A few highlights. The cured sea bream was so tasty and tender; the roast cauliflower tremendous; the pork chop so tender.

Returned to Hooligan with my partner on a Sunday night following a lovely meal there with friends the previous week, but was left feeling disappointed. I asked for a glass of Pinot Grigio, to be told that they'd just run out. The server recommended a similar alternative which was ok. We opted for the set sharing menu, starting with bread with oil/vinegar and charcuterie. The bread was some burnt focaccia and some tasteless shop bought baguette. Other tables received a different bread to the baguette so we assumed they'd run out of the bread that they would usually serve. We enjoyed the vegetable dishes and the pork chop was fine. Dessert was supposed to have been a cheesecake but what was presented to us was the random combination of rhubarb sorbet, chocolate mousse and a biscuit crumb - no explanation was given by our server - again we assumed they'd run out. Service was efficient but not friendly. I want to like Hooligan's but I'd think hard before returning again. There are other great places nearby that are perhaps more consistent.

We went to Hooligan for our wedding anniversary, and were glad that we did. The interior is unlike anywhere else I've been to in Glasgow - stylish and refined - but without being pretentious. We had the Sunday tasting menu, accompanied by 'unlimited' sangria (limited to something like 5 or 6 glasses) - as well as the paired wine. All of the courses were tasty, and the atmosphere just what we wanted.

Went for the Sunday set menu which was great value for money. At the time of writing you could add on bottomless sangria for £20 each. Really lovely atmosphere, wine and food were absolutely delicious and the staff were really warm and helpful with the wine recommendations. The food just came as it was ready and as it was several plates it was fine to just pick our way through it. Places like this and Scamp are doing high quality, modern, affordable tasting menus exquisitely.

Very much recommended. We came in here, early lunchtime before a busy evening ahead for the restaurant. A tapas style menu. We had 5 dishes between the two of us. Sea bass ceviche, Asian style king oyster mushroom, patatas bravas, sourdough & focaccia bread and the unusual but lovely skate wing. Together with 2 wines, water and a beer - took us to £68.50. Friendly service.

Lovely setting and atmosphere. Quite light on the staff (maybe just short that night?) and one of the waiting staff not great - we ordered the chefs menu and the dishes were arriving without any explanation. The other staff were great. Food good, not quite as wonderful as eighty eight though. Nice drinks list. The order the dishes came out wasn’t ideal either, and the pork main was very tough. Would go back, but perhaps avoid the surprise menu.

Although a little tricky to find, we were greeted by attentive and knowledgeable staff. Our waitress, Erin, was outstanding- chirpy, vigilant and caring. Her attention to detail was magnificent; allowing the party to chit chat and catch up freely. With a wide range of wines and after a brief discussion, she returned with a selection of samples that one of our party may enjoy. Fair to say, they were all fantastic and her guidance was top tier. Thank you. Head chef, Robbie, was why we visited. We had eaten in some of his previous restaurants and he continues to impress. Food was prepared with care, precision and passion. Ingredients were outrageously fresh and beautifully presented. Being an intimate restaurant, it was great to have Chef Robbie deliver dishes and explain what he had prepared- The Braised featherblade was sensational; another favourite was the Stone bass ceviche. High quality. Well done to all involved and thank you for a wonderful evening. We can’t wait to return.

We came in wanting mainly drinks and just some snacks to share between 6 people to kick off my sisters hen weekend (we had already eaten some pizza before going out). We couldn’t decide which dishes to share so decided we would share the chef’s choice 7 dishes between us. We told the waiter we weren’t that hungry so asked for a couple of bottles of wine and chefs choice to share between us expecting to receive 7 dishes for the table. However, when the food started to come out we quickly realized there was far too much of it to be 7 dishes between us all. It turned out the waiter thought we each wanted 7 dishes (3 sets of 7 dishes shared between 2 not 6!). I am surprised the waiter didn’t question the 7 course order since we said we were not hungry. The menu also seemed to read that the chefs choice was £27 for two people but it’s actually £27 each with a minimum of 2 people ordering. Think this could be updated on the menu to say the price is per person. I think we misunderstood the menu and then the waiter misunderstood what we wanted so it was all a a bit confusing and awkward to explain that we wanted to cancel the rest of the order. L We ended up spending a lot more money than we had intended due to the confusion which was a bit of a downer as we had only come out for some small plates and drinks. However, the food and wine that we did have were very good, the ceviche in particular was lovely.

Plusses 1) Food - excellent 2) Service - v good Minuses. 1) A sign outside telling is how to get in would be a big help 2) I got the table two feet from the speaker - move the speaker up and central away from the table please. 3) the tables are fashionably small, meaning that the recommended 3 small plates per person plus wine and water would need a degree in origami to fit. 3) cheapest bottle of wine is north of £30 4) the 'optional' 10% service charge (including the wine) is automatically added to the bill. Not a practice I agree with. 5)it is expensive, but food is excellent and service is good. However. During our meal a 50th birthday party arrived replete with balloons and a lack of face masks. Taking up over half the restaurant, and moving between tables, they were a very noisy presence in a small, intimate restaurant. Enough to deter us from ordering further. This restaurant charges £30per person for no shows or late cancellation (I'm ok with that), is expensive and automatically adds 10% to the bill. If they are setting themselves up as high end offering, then they should have had the decency to warn me at the time of booking that half the restaurant was taken up by one party. (l am not interested in excuses about the system. They had my details).

The bar itself is nice inside but the wine list is disappointing for somewhere marketing itself as a wine bar. The focus is on natural wines but the majority of their wines are very young. The two we tried were pretty mundane and the wine from Puglia that I had was very sweet.

We visit West on a regular occurrence as we live in the Templeton flats. Unfortunately we have started going elsewhere now (St Luke’s, the Gate etc) as the staff are awful…they consistently change and have no retention of staff at all. They are poor, the only lady that is lovely is the only one who’s been there a while. Small, brown haired and extremely good. The menu is also absolutely shocking for gluten free, very very limited. How hard is it. It’s also getting worse and they’re one of the most expensive. Doesn’t make sense when other places are much better and cost much less. Sort the above out West and we’ll be back however unfortunately for now we won’t be.

Shabby entrance belies the warm and plush interior where the welcome is warm and hospitality generous. Members only. The food menu is not huge but big enough. I would recommend either the Haddock and chips or Haggis neeps and tatties. The whisky menu on the other hand contains more than can be consumed. The expert advice from the staff will help you make good choices. The Malt of the Moment is always worth a try.

Stumbled up on this after a long day as we parked our car right next to it. Big band - I can't believe the experience and Talent. A far too well kept secret The audience is quite mature but please do not let it stop you I can't comment on food as we just wanted to pop in to listen to a song. We were already late for a booked dinner. 20 min later we were still there, spell bound, I am sorry to say that we were the rudest customers EVER and do not even have drink. I assure you will make up for this. We will be back for a meal and with time, friends and energy. This is awesome. Do check it out. Even if you are not into big band and it's a dying art what you see there. Watch people deliver gold! I have no idea why this place was not full. The owner, staff and musicians deserve your presence, this has been so rewarding.
