Hong Kong Cantonese. Restaurant in Doncaster

We visit here at least once a month with friends and family and we’ve never had a bad experience. It’s our favourite restaurant to dine at, the food is amazing and great value for money. We’ve tried lots of different dishes and can’t fault a single one - our favourite being the pork in Szechuan sauce! Mandy and Gee always provide the best service, they can never do enough for you! They do get really busy so pre booking is a must. We recommend this restaurant to everyone we know and we’ll always be back for more 😊

Phoned for a takeaway order as I have done many many times and was met with a rude response of sorry we are too busy! Wow is all I can say my money is not good enough! Well I certainly won’t be ordering or eating with you ever again

The food they gave me to eat was not fit for consumption. Ie.. it was gone off. I have an upset stomach after eating one bite. Genuinely for a fact they are selling food that is gone past its sell by date. The look. Taste and smell … awful. Do not eat from this place. Should be closed down immediately

Last night we went to Hong Kong Cantonese restaurant at Dunsville. We had read many positive reviews so thought we would give it a try. This is an incredibly popular restaurant so booking is essential. We tried to book 2 weeks in advance but it’s so popular, be sure to give plenty of notice, especially for a Saturday evening. There were four of us so we tried the set meal for 4 which included mixed starter platter with the best ever prawn toast - it must have been home made as it was topped with delicious whole prawns! The second course was duck which was shredded at the table. This was followed by fillet steak in Cantonese sauce, pork in Szechuan sauce, beef and chicken curry, king prawns with ginger and spring onions, mixed vegetables with cashews, nd fried rice. We had 2 bottles of red wine, 3 beers and 2 sparkling waters, and coffee to finish. We paid £45 per person which we thought was great value. We loved the ambiance of the restaurant - soothing background music, never too loud, tables that are well spaced out so noise from adjacent tables is kept to a minimum, really comfortable dining chairs that we would have been happy to sit in all night, and big enough tables so that everyone had enough “elbow room”. Great food, great restaurant and great people - we will be back!!!

We parked right outside as my husband cant walk far.Think it was the owner that greeted us, he was such a lovely man.The service from him & the lady was 10/10.Food lovely couldnt fault anything.It was really nice to see all menus gettimg sprayed & cleaned after each person,great idea.They have a big disabled toilet which was perfect for my husband.We will 100% return

Regular visits here - its our favourate Chinese restuarant ever... the food is cooked to perfection - and so so tasty too. The prices are very good too. Very welcoming service from the family that run this place - highly recommended, 10/10!

Really missed going here because of lockdown so We went for my husband's birthday on Friday. It was just as we remembered. Mandy so pleased to see us and following all Covid rules. We had chicken satay kebabs and King prawn for starter then beef in black bean sauce and char sui curry. Absolutely delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant 5*

Firstly, I would like to say that we have dined in the restaurant so many times and always in a party of six and thoroughly enjoyed the food, and atmosphere within. The staff are absolutely fabulous and so very attentive. Unfortunately, we ordered a takeaway meal which ended up being far more expensive than the restaurant prices which we had to collect (due to COVID 19). When we opened it, full of excitement, we could not believe it was from the same establishment. It was absolutely disgusting. I was lead, from the well-spoken gentleman who was answering the telephone, that the meal would be the same quality as the restaurant food. It certainly was nowhere near the same quality - not even anywhere near it. As I have said previously, the food served in the restaurant is superb but the food that we collected was of very low quality and didn’t match up to what we ordered or what we had eaten in the restaurant. Has anyone had a similar experience with ordering a takeaway?

We visited for Doncaster Lions charter and what a treat, from the moment we walked in the service was exemplary, helpful staff who could not do enough for us. The food is abolsutely out of this world, by far the best cantonese food ive ever had, totally melts in the mouth and even though this was a very large group the food arrived piping hot, fresh and totally amazing. I will have no hesitation in returning with friends in the future.

It was the first time we tried this restaurant as we were wanting to try somewhere new. We were not disappointed, the set out and decor was lovely. All the staff friendly and helpful and the food was delicious.I’m a vegetarian and there was enough choice and the staff were open and honest about what I could and couldn’t have as it isn’t clearly marked on the menu. We had starters and mains and plenty of drinks and the end bill was very reasonable we will be returning

We love eating at Hong Kong! The food and the service is second to none, literally wouldn’t go anywhere else!! ❤️The photos show the lobster on crispy noodles... TO DIE FOR!!!!! Prawns in ginger and Cantonese Duck!!!! The BEST place to get fantastic food!!!

I have been going to this restaurant since it opened, it’s super clean, tables are nicely spaced out and the service and food are excellent. We recently went as a group of 7 people for my sons 15th birthday and the owners gave my son a Chinese New Year red envelope , when he opened it, it had a £10 note in it he was so surprised, what a lovely thoughtful thing for them to do. Nothing is too much trouble, they will tweak dishes to suit your palette if you ask, my son is a fussy eater but he loves the food served here. We never feel rushed but we never have to wait too long for drinks & food either, you can ask for a doggy bag if you don’t manage to get through all the dishes you order. It’s always a lovely experience eating here and we highly recommend it to everyone we know, if you are wondering if you should try it, just go, you won’t be disappointed.

Monday night visit to the best chinese restraunt in Doncaster upon arrival we were greeted by the sons owner Ricky who guided us to our reserved table.He then took our drinks order and returned with them shortly after.We had a look at the menu and ordered a selection of startes mixed hors d'oeuvres consisting of salt snd pepper ribs,sesame prawn toast,spring rolls,crispy wontons and seaweed and oh boy they were delicious as always.For mains we ordered sweet and sour Cantonese style crispy chilli beef special chow mein chicken curry and egg fried rice and chips. Every dish came out beautifully presented and piping hot it was stunning and tasted amazing.I really enjoyed my evening with my family and Ricky played a big part in this by being very friendly and attentive.if you visit this restraunt you will not be dissapointed one bit.

My brother's 60th birthday party was a great success mainly due to the variety and quality of food on offer. All of the party had eaten there on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed. Myself, I do not eat Cantonese food and was offered mushroom and onion omelette with crispy chips which satisfied my appetite. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. The birthday cakes they provided were truly scrummy! Thank you so much for a memorable experience.

Been here a couple of times now. Brought some friends that had never been before, they loved it! All the food is freshly cooked, amazing prices too! Crispy duck and chicken curry is the best!

The establishment doesn't have curb appeal from the outside but inside is the total opposite. The food was cooked to a high standard and plentiful. They were busy and service was a little slow but we weren't in a rush. Well worth a visit.

We ordered sweet and sour Cantonese style (chicken was dry and chewy definitely re heated) - sweet and sour sauce had a slight tang to it. Chips - they were very dry. Chicken fried rice - And was it really fried?? I will let you be the judge as the picture is below. Noodles - tasteless. Prawn crackers - chewy??? Would not recommend this restaurant/ takeaway. The price is just going rate. We left the meal. Feeling very disappointed overall. I would avoid at all cost. Have cheese on toast instead !

We arrived early and seated straight away. Lovely round table. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We took time to order. We had starters for 7 it was fantastic very nice tasty and plenty for 7. The mains arrived and plates were warmed and the chicken curry I had was delicious. We also had several different mains all were exceptional

To start off the staff are so lovely and welcoming, every time we have visited they are smiling and nothings too much of a problem. All food tastes fresh and full of flavour and portions are big sizes.

A fabulous family run restaurant that go the extra mile to make your visit extra special nothing is too much trouble. Great atmosphere, lovely decor and extremely attentive service. Came here with friends for the first time. Fantastic place, everything’s cooked to order- it’s not your average Chinese buffet or restaurant. Top quality food too, the best chicken curry I have ever had! Beautiful food and great service, especially Gee. Would recommend and return without a doubt.

I visit here often with my partner's family. It is a proper hidden gem, not much to look at from the outside but great food and fantastic staff who go the extra yard. Doesn't break the bank on cost.

When we arrived we got greeted in a friendly manner. It was quite empty so I recommend going a bit earlier because as we left it started filling up. The food was delicious. And the staff we very patient. Couldn’t wish for anything better

This family run restaurant is the hidden gem of doncaster. I have been going to the family’s establishments for a few years now and I have never received better food and service. G and Mandy are welcoming professional and extremely friendly. I travel passed several local Restaurants to go here and I will continue to do so, recommending that you do the same. Through frequenting the restaurant I can honestly say that you must give this place a try. Much more than just a favourite Resturant, a family run Resturant that I am happy to call friends.

Needed a restaurant between Market Rasen and Barnsley and chose this one for its rave reviews. We were certainly not disappointed. The food was fabulous, as was the service. Wish we lived closer.

Tonight we had not been in for a long time and this was mentioned, then a mention about me changing two items in banquet menu even though we said we didn’t mind to pay more, he said he got into trouble for this and not to do it when I take family in?, felt a bit uneasy, as we had meal bottle wine and never was asked about dessert coffee like other people behind us, known by name, all I have to say is don’t forget your local people. Treat differently than when we had visited before, Xxxx put us off going back. Xxxxpity food lovely .

The food this place serves up is really nice, well positioned and tasty. The place itself is very clean and modern. The food comes relatively quickly to say we had 10 on our table and there was more than enough to feed all. Sadly the waiting staff were a bit slow and unsure of things. Other than that this is a nice place to eat.

This is so local it's ridiculous that I haven't been before now. Nice surroundings, Ambient relaxing oriental music in the background & most importantly, absolutely delicious food.

Service Excellent! Food Excellent! My daughter and her boyfriend have been here a couple of times and have always said how good it was. They brought me and my boyfriend there tonight for an early birthday treat and it was absolutely delicious! The staff were very friendly and attentive and considering the number of dishes we ordered (about 12), we weren't waiting long before it all started coming out. Absolutely the best Asian restaurant i've been to.

Went with family for daughters birthday..excellent food, not the cheapest in the area..but brilliant service.. Didn't tell them it was her birthday, however at the end of the meal they brought out a chocolate birthday cake, they said because they saw the cards n presents...

Our table was booked for 7pm, we was a party of 14, although some ordered starters for those who didn't waited over 2hrs, some of the dishes was bland, the whole experience as put me off ever trying it again, if you going prepared for...

On arriving at the restaurant we didnt know what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised with the greeting we got from the staff, first class service throughout. We had spring rolls to start, they were so flavoursome we could have had another plate full....

Fuimos un fin de semana muy animado de fiesta y esperamos un largo tiempo para nuestra comida, pero estaba recién preparado y probado fantástico, la presentación era encantador. Había un gran ambiente, el personal era muy agradable y servicial, sin duda volveremos pronto.

Qué lugar tan encantador para comer. El ambiente es acogedor, el servicio es excelente y el personal era cálido y amable. Tenía un Hors Derves pato asado de arranque y que era precioso. Campo principal era un delicioso filete en salsa de frijol negro que se derretía en la boca muy recomendado.

El personal es muy bonita, pero esperar siglos por la comida anoche (Domingo) La comida era absolutamente mediocre, teniendo en cuenta las críticas muy decepcionado. Totalmente sosa y carente de sabor. No volvería.

Another visit to Mr Tongs Place and Gee Mandy and Co are doing a splendid job. As always the service is second to none. The place is well decorated and has a great atmosphere. Nothing is too much trouble. I find my self ordering lots of dishes rather than a set meal so we can have exactly what we want. The seafood is always divine and comes with the highest recommendation. Who cares if it is slightly dearer than someOf the other places. You get exactly what you pay for - decent sized NZ green lipped mussels, fillet steak need I go on. All good is ted hot when it comes out and the plates are always hot which is a must for me. This most certainly won't be the last time we visit - A branch needs to be opened closer to home!! ;-)

Absolutely lovely dining experience. Welcomed with a smile on arrival, food was delicious, waiter service was first class. Would recoommend it to anyone who likes Cantonese food in a pleasant, airy restaurant.

Four of us visited this restaurant and were greeted by a friendly waiter who took great care of us during the evening.The food was piping hot and the portions were of a good size, we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The drinks were an average price , the meals were maybe a little more expensive but not a lot but worth it.A lovely evening and would definitely return.

Looking for somewhere local to go with my son we came across this establishment that had been open a couple of years but I had never noticed it. The restaurant has plenty of seating so although there were several groups in for the evening the place looked quiet. We decided to have the set menu which, for the B option, was around £20 each - more expensive than I've previously paid but the portions were a hearty size and left not room for dessert.The host was very pleasant and chatty and the food was excellent.We eat out regularly and would class this as a venue for a special treat rather than a regular haunt however I would take someone who does enjoy their Cantonese cuisine.

Had various people recommend this restaurant to us ,so decided to try it with a couple of friends recently ,and I can only reiterate what other people have said ; good food generous portions and very nice people running it ,the waiting time in between courses was just right and at no time did you feel rushed , they were always willing to wait or give advice on various courses .All in all a very pleasant experience and i'm sure we will be back ; Well done!

Beautiful food, massive menu, large portions and good value food money. If you like your Chinese food this is a must try. Really nice friendly staff. This was my second visit and it won't be my last. Top marks.

Went here with friend for her birthday had special for 2 and wine good value about £ 45 1 would go again but try off the maim menu as there was lots of choice.

I have driven pass on many occasions, thinking I must try this restaurant out, well I am so glad I did try now, we went for my wife's birthday, the restaurant is clean very well decorated, friendly helpful staff, the service was great , and the food excellent, with large portions very flavour some, will be returning again and again

Decided to give this restraunt a try as we have driven past many times. We did not book but the staff made us very welcolm. We're seated straight away and drink order taken and served with the menu and a bowl of prawn crackers. Menu has plenty of choice without being too vast that you could not make your mind up. The dining room was very clean and plenty of room between tables for a bit of privacy. We shared a half duck very nicely presented and shredded at table for us to enjoy. Then just had a main course each with rice. The food was well presented and lovely and hot. Good delicious food and staff friendly and welcoming. Will certainly be making a return visit. I've heard good thing about the restaurant and drive past every day to and from work and kept thinking I must try it. So with friends we went. The restaurant is lovely inside, well decorated and very comfy chairs. The young man serving us was lovely and we had a good laugh. Great service. The prices are a little more than other places but not to bad. Food was well presented and good size portions. But the down side for us was it lacked flavour which is a shame. I may try it again at some point but I won't be rushing back.

One word fantastic really enjoyed the company the food, highly recommend this restaurant, portion sizes bigger than what you normally would get, plan for a 2 hour meal due to it been freshly cooked for yourselves,but we didn't find it a problem at all. We be going back.

My wife and I visited the restaurant on the 1st October 2016 for the first time. The premises are lovely and spotlessly clean. The staff are welcoming and attentive and the food is delicious, freshly cooked from really lovely ingredients. Portions are really generous too. This was our first visit to the Hong Kong, but it certainly won't be the last. The best Chinese Restaurant in the area, without a doubt!

Extensive menu, food always fresh and always hot, staff very friendly & attentive, no rush, well presented in an authentic setting with very apt decor, visited several times now and will certainly make it a regular hostelry for fine dining.

Seems expensive when you look at menu but when you see what you actually get it's well worth it. Gorgeous food.

We went here as 2 couples for an evening meal, you can't fault the service or food. In fact it was the nicest oriental style food I've had in many years, the chicken wings and strips are a lovely starter and the food was piping hot all night. The prices are very good, our total bill came in under £100 pounds with drinks and coffees so very impressed and will definitely go here again soon!

This is one of the best places for Chinese I have been to. As a family we go here quite often. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed and you don't have to get too dressed up. The food has always been perfect and the staff can't do enough for you. Great restaurant! 5*

My husband and I went to the Hong Kong Cantonese Restaurant on 7 July 2016 with family for a birthday treat. We enjoyed it so much we went on Wednesday 20 July 2016. The two of us were made very welcome again the food was excellent, so tasty, hot, well presented and absolutely gorgeous. Portion sizes are quite large . The music playing was pan pipes and was just right in volume and pleasant to listen to. The air conditioning was on so it was most comfortable to eat. I would highly recommend this restaurant. We will be going again soon. I will review again when we do..

Everytime we order from here we stuff our faces to point of bursting. Food is excellent and full of flavour. Special chow mien. Salt and pepper prawns. Special fried rice. Crispy duck The curry are all fab. Even the steak in rich gravy and the omelette meals are brill. Haven't gone anywhere else since using this place.

Went here on Saturday 30 April 2016, what a friendly, clean, excellent food Cantonese Restaurant. We were made very welcome by the staff, nothing was too much trouble, even to the point of me asking about a dish that wasn't on the menu. They were quick to reply yes and when it came lovely. The portion sizes are excellent, the food was hot and very well presented. Needless to say I recommend this Restaurant and will certainly be going again and not before too long. As three of us are disabled this was a perfect venue for us. Easy access and help on our way out, with the door being held for us. Thank you so very much Hong Kong Restaurant.

This is my second visit to the restaurant. Atmosphere is very good and staff are very attentive. Well priced and portions are large, would definitely recommend to people. Only niggle is parking - there a few spaces and majority of the time you have to park at the pub across the road

Heard this was an amazing Cantonese restaurant. What a suprise when we went last night to find Mandy the owner has once been in the most fabulous restaurant in Hatfield. After years of me living away , I was excited to find my steamed duck and crushed prawns, not eaten for years, on the menu, couldn't resist. My husband is disabled and they were most helpful on our arrival getting our wheelchair in. Will be requesting my fresh chillies stuffed with crushed prawns on my next visit The best food and the most friendliest staff for miles, won't be going anywhere else from now on. Worth the 20 mile round trip. You must visit you won't be disappointed❗️

We've been here a few times and the food has always been good - easily better than most Chinese restaurants. The staff are very pleasant and friendly, the food freshly prepared and very tasty. Recommended - will be back.

Have dined at this restaurant before and because of previous excellent meals and service went for the Chinese New Year. The food was first class as usual, the set menu for this special night was well balanced and plenty of choice. Friends that had never had Chinese food before really enjoyed it and said they would be back again. If you wanted more of any dish the staff were happy to oblige, we didn't need it as the portions were plentiful. All the staff are friendly and immediately make you feel relaxed, and remember you from your last visit. During the meal they tell you what each dish contains. The service is very smooth and you don't feel rushed. One of my favourite restaurants in South Yorkshire, will be back soon. Thank you for a lovely evening. Happy New Year.

I really would like to give this restaurant a glowing review, as the staff were very friendly and couldn't help enough. It was obvious that other diners knew staff well and that they felt welcome also.The restaurant has good atmosphere, the music was well thought out, tables decorated nicely and we were served in good time, didn't have to wait long for our drinks or food at all. We felt that drinks were reasonably priced for a restaurant which seems to be a little more upmarket that some in the area.However, for me the food was just a bit bland. We had starters and mains and all tried a bit. Fried foods were under cooked and a bit soft, sauces lacked seasoning and rice was just ok. The presentation was wonderful - we saw some other dishes were served in pineapples, and rice was in bamboo holders... All nice finishing touches, but I felt that for the price, the food wasn't up to scratch. Maybe we're just too used to the standard salty/sugary/fatty food we get served normally, and so don't appreciate food cooked a little more traditionally? I'm not sure.

We live 100 miles away from this restaurant, but when we can we make a special trip to eat here! An excellent restaurant owned and run by a very nice family for whom nothing is too much trouble. The food is first class, freshly prepared for you as you order and far beyond an average Chinese Restaurant or take-away. Looking forwarrd to going back again very soon !!
