Very nice food with good service. Recommended

Been wanting to visit for such a long time and finally made it for lunch yesterday. What can I say? It was well worth the wait. Fabulous food (I had the black pudding starter and the fish of the day, which turned out to be an actual fish pie with a pastry casing, and my friend had the curried soup and the pan fried chicken). Everything was so tasty and the waitress who served us was a little star. So friendly and so professional. Will definitely be back, especially as the Spring menu comes out next week!

Royally looked after this evening by the lovely team at Hinnies. Enjoyed a fabulous meal in celebration of my mums 80th. Food and service were equally superb. Cannot rate this place highly enough.

Booked for brunch this morning and was not disappointed! The food was absolutely delicious, piping hot, really fresh. No faff - just tasty, honest, moreish food! The service was great, Hinnies provides a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere for people to enjoy the views of the seafront with a delicious meal. It won't be long before we go back again! Traditional Geordie food with a posh twist. Well worth a visit.

We went there for brunch and were very disappointed. While the servers were friendly and attentive once at our seats when we first arrived we had a pram and were just left to ourselves to try and work out where to put it and find a highchair without any offer of help or guidance. That by itself wouldn't really have mattered if the food was up to scratch but it really was poor I'm afraid. We went for brunch and got avocado on toast twice, eggs benedict and eggs florentine. Fairly easy to cook stuff really but one portion of avocado was so oversalted it was almost inedible, the other had too much oil and just tasted bland and both should have been served with their own sourdough. They did come and say the sourdough hadn't worked and hey, we can all get things wrong occasionally but they replaced it with bland white stodgy bread. It really wouldn't have been too hard to at least get a decent loaf of bread in from the supermarket rather than the cheap stuff. All of the poached eggs were really undercooked with runny whites and the hollandaise sauce was far too sharp with too much lemon. Overall a very disappointing meal and one we definitely won't be going back to replicate.

Slightly disappointing breakfast. "Home made beans" tasted very familiar and didn't come with the brown sauce, onions or sourdough on the menu. On the smashed avocado dish, accompaniments were half a fried tomato, few spinich leaves and no mushroom as described on the menu. £2 extra for some halloumi included a single, very thin, slightly overcooked slice. Also charged for 4 teas and got maybe a cup and a half each. Didn't feel great value for £15.

Fantastic food and great for the family. The staff we so warm and welcoming, the food was super tasty and the service excellent. We will definitely come her again on our next visit to Whitley Bay.

One of the busiest places and we were lucky enough to grab a couple of seats. Brunch was amazing. The Eggs Florentine were perfect, soft yolky and covered in hollandaise sauce sat on a muffin. Good sourdough, coffee and service.

Hinnies has a lovely relaxed atmosphere with very attentive staff who add to the quality of service. The menu is simple but has has choices for everyone, excellent food, setting and service as well as value. We love Hinnies!

Wonderful experience from start to finish. My wife and I walked in at start of evening service and although they were booked up solid for the week they found a nice spot for us right away. Service and food were amazing and a perfect way to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We would highly recommend to anyone looking for a place for a nice, quiet intimate meal.

There was no prices on their menu and we were totally disappointed as we don't know how much the food or drinks cost which we like to see what we are ordering and seeing the prices too. We won't be going back and I wouldn't recommend them to our friends.

Excellent food, we all had Pan Haggerty. As the alcolhol. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the price was reasonable. The place was jammed full when we were there I recommend this place. The downer was that they didn't offer Singing Hinnies Geordie comfort food eh yes please

Went for lovely meal after a drink at the Champagne Bar in Spanish City. Super Northumbrian themed restaurant. Great food and service will definitely go again. Lovely evening in Whitley Bay!

Its not too bad, just normal. I had liver, it was undercooked. The terrine was quite nice but again, nothing special. My wie had lamb which was underflavoured. The waitress was very nice, very friendly and helpful and was obviously doing the work of multiple people.

Excellent! Awesome food, wonderful welcome and the promised ‘hearty food’ was definitely delivered. We were so grateful Tom the Chef stayed late for us and a huge ‘well done’ to the waitress who ran a marathon the week before! Would definitely recommend and go again if we’re back in the North East.

Had a delicious meal with family- wonderful simple but tasty grilled plaice with jersey royals- why don’t more restaurants serve food like this? Service excellent, extra flatbread provided when waiter noticed we had hummus left .Felt covid safe as well in terms of spacing and protocols.

My husband, daughter and I had a long awaited birthday dinner at Hinnies last night (19th May). My husband’s fish soup starter was full of bones, my daughter’s main of rump steak contained an unacceptably large amount of fat and gristle while my main of plaice seemed to be swimming again in a pool of flavourless melted butter accompanied by tasteless Jersey Royal potatoes. At my request the plaice which came on the bone, had been filleted by the staff but unfortunately still came back full of large bones which made it practically inedible. We were massively disappointed and felt let down by the poor quality of food and lack of care with preparation. Consequently the bill was reduced by a few pounds but this offered little in the way of compensation for a spoilt birthday meal.

Hinnies has always been a favourite, so despite the cold (still outside covid rules) we decided to visit for my husbands birthday - we're delighted we did! The food was delicious as always - particularly the goats cheese tart for my starter, but every course was excellent. The service from Jamie was really friendly, welcoming and attentive throughout. Covid rules were also followed really well so we felt very safe.We can't wait to return!

Beautiful food and great service

We have eaten at Hinnies several times and decided to try their "At Home" service for a recent celebration. Between us, we had fishcakes, smoked chicken, roast lamb, cheesecake and the cheese board. Preparing the meal couldn't be simpler since each element needed the same oven temperature and could be left to its own devices without much extra attention. The food was excellent: just as flavoursome as you would expect if you were at the restaurant. We were rather surprised by how reasonable the prices were. You could easily spend as much - and more - on a standard Friday night takeaway.We would certainly recommend Hinnies at Home.

Excellent place! The food is amazing. Flavours are authentic and fresh. I ordered the roasted lamb with lentils. It comes with some courgettes and pesto. What a lovely combination. Highly recommended!

Ordered a meal.to be delivered ...and it was fabulous ...highly recommend...easy to cook ..superb taste and quality ....fish cakes ....venison ..and sticky toffee My partner had meat terrine .venison and choc pud ..simply delicious ....we will order again....

Used a voucher which was a Christmas present for a 3 course meal. Ordering was very easy, I rang the day before. They were really helpful and agreed to swap some ingredients that I didn't like for alternatives. We called to pick it up the next day and it was all ready for us, chilled with instructions included for heating. The portions were generous and I actually kept my starter to have for lunch the next day. We both had ham terrine with pease pudding, pickles and sourdough toast. Mains were smoked chicken with pan haggerty and leeks with bacon which came with a lovely sauce and roast belly pork with pan haggerty and leeks and bacon with black pudding. For pudding we had blood orange posset with rhubarb and meringue and sticky toffee pudding with a caramel sauce to die for. Everything was delicious apart from the posset which although very creamy and rich was quite sweet and not very orangey but the rhubarb was lovely. A lovely restaurant right on the seafront in Whitley Bay.

Had Hinnies at Home 3 course dinner last evening and it was delicious. My partner and I had chosen different food from the menu and each course was tasty and well prepared. I was wondering about the heating up at home bit but the instructions clear and even I can manage heating food up in the oven for 20 minutes.

We had a 3 course meal delivered for my birthday courtesy of my grandchildren. It was absolutely delicious. Can thoroughly recommend them. The slow cooked beef cheek was especially good just melted in your mouth .Very generous portions too.

Hinnies at Home winter menu works very well and is so straightforward to heat up and enjoy as if you were in the restaurant The food is exactly the same high quality as you would expect to find if you were booked into Hinnies and collection, cleanliness and safety were very well organised.The food itself was very fresh, particularly the game pie and the Wellington , and the price was very reasonable for this standard of cooking We’ll be going there again - very good !

We pre ordered Sunday lunch as a special treat. Did not disappoint. Fabulous salmon starter, followed by roast beef, yorkshire pudding with all the trimmings. Portion huge and now having my delicious pudding 6 hours later! We have thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and love to support local business. Highly recommend. Thank you

LOCKDOWN BUT NO SHUTDOWN CHRISTMAS LUNCH !!!!! Ordered Christmas lunch for 3 for 2020. It wasn't ok, it wasn't good it was FAB-U-LOUS DARLINGS !!!! My Wife always does a wonderful lunch but we thought we would have a change and a really good decision we made. Well done at Hinnies ( have ordered our NY lunch today !!! ) REALLY looking forward to dining in the REAL restaurant when we get rid of the UGLY VIRUS !

Hinnies has a December take away menu which is perfect for Christmastime in lockdown. Beautiful three course meals with the turkey option alongside lots of other tempting choices ( we had starters: one terrine and one salmon with potato salad, main course: one beef casserole with dumplings and one venison Wellington and deserts: one fruit crumble and one Christmas pudding. All were delicious and the meal felt really special - even fruit crumble was different and extra yummy. Portions are generous and instructions to reheat are straightforward. Hinnies never disappoints, it is always 5 star. The season’s menu is on another level; 5 star plus plus. It’s exactly what it should be - a festive takeaway treat.

Recently ordered from the take away menu as we are great big fans of the good at Hinnies. Excellent food with clear instructions on preparation. Whilst it will never replace dining in and being served by the excellent and friendly team it was so good we have ordered again for next weekend.

The two of us enjoyed the cook at home, or reheat for our choices, and we thoroughly enjoyed our 'special' evening at home. The collection was very smooth and easy, you just pick your preferred time and turn up. For £19 per person the 3 course meal was excellent value, and really good quality. We will be trying the Christmas at home menu soon, that starts next week.

They were full for a cold Wednesday evening but we had a warm welcome from all the staff - a limited menu but still a good selection we both enjoyed the starter and main courses and good portion they were. Service was excellent from all staff - will be going again next time in Whitley Bay.

Came across this after finding reviews online. We were not disappointed. Think gastro with a Northumbrian twist.

I am pleased to see this little gem has survived Covid so far and that standards of food and servuce have been maintained. We visited on Saturday evening and despite the restaurant being busy the servhce was attentive but not overbearing and the staff as fruebdky as ever. The food was excellent with the venison sausage roll a very tasty and filling starter. The main courses of pork loin and pan fried cod were expqually good. Cannot wait to return.

Very well priced for the quality of food you get. Staff were lovely and had a very easy to follow and professional approach to COVID. Would highly recommend going and would recommend the black pudding scotch egg!!

We were attracted to Hinnies as it seemed 'different ' but also had visited one of the other restaurants in the group. The Covid19 Safeguards were effectively managed & adhered to throughout, by the lone front of house member of staff. He managed a juggling act of several tables with good humour & professionalism. The menu choices were different and care was shown to assist with specific dietary requirements. The seafood & fish soup was delicious & a very filling starter. I had Pan Hagerty with a poached duck egg, served with roasted vegetables and was delighted with it. My companion said that the pan fried cod, with sauerkraut,potatoes & parsnip puree was very tasty. We were too full to try the very tempting desserts With a couple of glasses of wine & a soft drink, the bill was very reasonable. Give Hinnies a try if you're in Whitley Bay or nearby.

Ashleigh and other staff members were friendly, courteous and we were well looked after. Steak and salmon were cooked as requested. No complaints only smiles all around. We would highly recommend. Andy and Joanne.

Went for lunch with the family and all three of us felt safe with the Covid measures they had in place including a temperature check. We all went for the three courses for £19.Of particular mention was the Haggis Scotch Egg starter and Pork Belly, Chorizo and Black Pudding main course, although all the dishes were superb.With drinks which included two cocktails for £10 the bill came to £80 with tips.All the staff are super friendly and nothing is too much trouble.Thoroughly recommend.

The rest of our party loved their meals but unfortunately mine was very poor. Thought about complaining but the staff were so nice and attentive it didn't seem fair. Veggie tart was not a tart at all - it was some kind of chutney mush without a base ?? Vegan curry was painfully disappointing, I could knock up a better one on a weeknight with the ingredients at the back of my fridge, it was squishy and tasteless. No bread or anything with it either, just a tiny bit of rice. Felt a bit gutted watching the meat eaters tuck into their massive Sunday dinners. Try harder with vegan and veggie Hinnies or you'll get left behind!

Second time we have visited during Covid and both times felt really safe , plus the food and staff are excellent. Well done to you all in these difficult and crazy times. Thank you for a lovely lunchtime experience.

This was our third visit to Hinnies. The food is superb as is the service, the staff and the strict guidelines they adhere too. We felt completely safe and thoroughly enjoyed our evening out. We will definitely be back and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending the place to our family and friends.

Lovely food and attentive staff. The Covid measures (including a temperature check) were very reassuring. We enjoyed the interesting vegetarian dishes. The early-bird offer seemed like a great deal, but we stuck with just one course because we were full! Would definitely come back here.

I celebrated my birthday yesterday at Hinnies. It was the first time I'd visited the restaurant. We loved the food and the service by Ashleigh & Joy was exceptional. They made us feel so welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the restaurant. We will definitely be returning and I highly recommend this restaurant.
