Asked for no chilis but got a dish with tons of chili. The other dish didn't taste anything.

Very nice little Thai restaurant run by 3 adorable ladies. Watch out when they bring out the sizzling beef and its smoke haha but beside that the dishes are tasty, the service attentive and the room not too loud. The Menu A Standard is perfect selection. The soup and the curry were delicious. The Ice cream is not very exciting though. Conveniently located less than 10 min walk from Richmond station.

Authentic Thai food, available in the UK. Best time to visit is weekdays lunchtimes for the lunchtime special menu, starter and main for £9.95. Very good selection of tasty vegetarian dishes available. Some parking outside if you are lucky. Well worth a visit.

Was walking past this restaurant and the menu looked good, so decided to go in. If you end up going there on a Friday, do book a table as they are extremely busy. Due to them being busy, we had to wait a while to get the waitress attention but the food did get served relatively quickly. I would not recommend the food. Unfortunately, the flavours were not great. The panang chicken was quite mild, barely had any meat in it. I have never had drunken noodles/ pad kee mao served in a soup format. So it was quite a disappointment. Overall, 2 starters, main course and cokes came upto £55 which was not bad. However, it’s never enjoyable to pay for a meal if you didn’t really enjoy it.

I ordered the coconut milk soup and a satay dish. What was supposed to be a simple basic lunch turned out to be the highlight of my day. The soup was loaded with chicken, lime leaves, chili, galangal root… it was just delicious and I savored the flavours. The satay was perfect and I ate all the leftover sauce with the rice. I plan to return tonight with my family. Honestly the best Thai food I’ve experienced outside of Thailand, and easily my favorite find in Richmond.

I love this restaurant. Amazing authentic Thai food, lovely people and always busy with a great atmosphere. Often see Thai customers in the restaurant. Menu is wide ranging with fabulous seafood, soft shell crab and morning glory. I’ve taken many friends there who have become regulars.

Worst ever experience at a Thai restaurant, will never be returning. Avoid if you can. The waiter could not understand English properly or was pretending not to understand after getting our order wrong three times- not apologising acting oblivious and then bringing the receipt charging us even for the incorrect orders that were taken away then when trying to let her know the receipt is incorrect it took another one hour to make her understand , literally left unsatisfied and hungry, soo disappointing and worst thing ever no apology!!!

Most authentic Thai food I've had in the UK. Pad Thai was perfect! Tastes exactly like the ones I've had in the East.

The papaya salad was very spicy even though I requested it to be mild only. I liked their rice, which was cooked to be just right.

Five minutes walk from Richmond train station. Absolutely love this Thai resto. Friendly, courteous staff. Busy eatery, but staff kept their calm and were very respectful despite the hot weather – it was the hottest day this year! The place was packed out during lunchtime but the staff assured us that a table would be made available. Lovely beautifully designed interiors with ethnic touches. We had the seafood pad thai, mixed satay, the tofu panang curry with tod mun pla fishcakes. Mixed satay was excellent, with a zingy sauce. Seafood pad thai was well done - juicy king prawns, mussels, squid and egg all fried together with rice noodles in a sweet and spicy sauce. Finished off with crunchy peanuts, fresh coriander and a squeeze of tangy lime.. lovely!

Highly recommended for authentic Thai cuisine served by accommodating and friendly staff.

This is a very popular place - we were lucky to get a table on a Tuesday night. The food was tasty, and the service was very friendly. Average prices for this kind of restaurant - about £11 for a plate of noodles. Portions were on the smaller side though, especially for starters - we had Mixed Satay and it was only a couple of bites. £8 for a large and £6 for a small beer is also on the more expensive side.

We came back late from the city and were looking for somewhere to stop on the way back to the hotel. Saw a modest sign for a Thai restaurant that would be easy to walk past. It looked good through the window with a menu of classics and interesting items at great prices (for anywhere, let alone R-U-T). Seemed to be a high proportion of of locals (all except us I felt). Very attentive staff, food served quickly that tasted great. Loved it. Hope we come back to R-U-T just so we can go there.

Went via recommendation of a friend to order takeout, decided order from menu in window; went to order takeout, was ignored for 5 min by staff member at desk, she took my order, did not mention total price just handed card reader, I saw the value was almost a third more than menu advertised, they said it was old version of menu (literally a 3 pound difference per dish) Isaid no thanks and will not return as this is cheeky and misleading. Over ten pounds for one noodle dish is not reasonable.

Unbelievable restaurant - the closest thing in England to Thailand! Having lived in Thailand for 6 years, I have found all restaurants, understandably, leaving when it comes to Thai food. Hilltribe is the best replica we have tried. Morning glory is an absolute staple in Thailand but hard to find here. Not only do Hilltribe have it, they cook it beautifully, with spice and garlic. Our green curry tasted just like it did in Thailand and we were able to adjust some of the dishes to suit our dietary needs. An all round amazing experience and we will be returning.

Horrible staff ( one of them). My child was hungry so while waiting we asked for another bowl of prawn crackers. We could have easily paid for it. But the lady said sorry we ran out. Straight lie I could figure out. After that two more families came In and they served the prawn crackers. What was the point of lying?

Fast and very friendly service but I don't understand why the massaman curry was sweet? It was almost sickly sweet and didn't finish the portion.

We recently dined at Hilltribe Thai Restaurant and unfortunately, I must express my disappointment with the overall experience. We opted for the 2-course menu, but it left much to be desired. To begin with, the additional charge of £1.95 per person for the starter seemed excessive, especially considering the meager portions we received. It was disheartening to find just a single satay portion (but they make as two stick) for someone who chose satay and a single spring roll (but they make as two) for my friend who chose the duck spring roll. The real letdown, however, was the taste of the pad Thai. It was, without a doubt, the worst rendition of this dish that my companions and I have ever encountered. We couldn't fathom how this restaurant had received a 4.5-star rating, which was the reason we decided to give it a try in the first place. We left feeling cheated and deeply disappointed with our meal. I hope Hilltribe Thai Restaurant takes customer feedback into consideration and strives to improve their offerings, as the experience we had fell far below our expectations.

Food quality to price ratio is excellent, it's on the way to the station bas well. Very friendly owners. This is a much better option then Thai elephant.

I've been to this place twice. The first time the food was really nice but the second time it was so bland.

The service was amazing, can’t fault it. Unfortunately the pad Thai and coconut rice were far too sweet and was quite difficult to finish as was quite sickly. The summer rolls also were pretty dry.

Can’t complain when you get a main and starter for £7 in a proper sit-in restaurant. Oh, and free prawn crackers too

Such a cosy, friendly restaurant with characterful and intuitive service and really delicious thai food. We only went here because the thai cafe on the hill is closed for renovations, but we're so glad we did and we'll definitely be back, plus it's good value too.

We have been visiting this restaurant for many years, and especially for our Valentine's meal. It is a charming little place with friendly staff and a cosy and romantic ambience. The food is delightful and we are never disappointed. Thank you to the team for another lovely evening.

I must confess I only went here because Good Earth Express was closed, but what a lucky accident! In an age of drab, low quality Thai food, I was astonished by how fresh all the ingredients were, and how beautifully prepared. This will now be our regular place - I can't recommend it enough.

Nice little cozy place with wonderful and tasty Thai food. The staff was very kind and helpful. Would definitely recommend to visit this place to others. I went with my friends who were visiting me from Aberdeen and Brazil, they liked it very much.

Found a random Thai restaurant in Richmond when cycled over. I was trying out some vegetarian dishes and this place came about. Tried their pad Thai and green curry and it tasted beautifully. It was really cheap too £5 for a lunch meal, can’t complain. They also offer complimentary prawn crackers too. 😀 well recommended!

This is one of the best Thai restaurants I've been to, and yes I've been to Thailand (and Thai restaurants in San Francisco, New York, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, and Miami). Nice people, delicious food, reasonable prices.

We are going to Hilltribe for the last 15 years and still enjoy it as much as on the first visit. The food is always excellent and very tasty. The service is always friendly and attentive. Miss O in the kitchen is a fabulous chef who knows how to create perfect dishes. A few years ago she left and we saw and tasted it immediately. Luckily she came back and we get our favourite Thai food again. The restaurant is cosy and always has a nice atmosphere. The two course lunch menu is the best value for money you can get. We highly recommend Hilltribe for lunch and dinner.

Remarkably nice Thai food for the price, very good tom yum and was impressed with the lamb special. Staff are really friendly, and appeared to assume my friend and I were a gay couple when they provided us with one free dessert and two spoons. This, while a little off the mark, was a very nice gesture and shows they are LGBT friendly! Despite this, they don't include a service charge so make sure you give them a tip.

Very good and cheap Thai restaurant! Waitress is so nice, friendly and helpful! Service charge is NOT included but some customers are too cheap to leave any tips which I find revolting as waitress is always so nice. Food is authentic Thai and 2 course £6.95 You can not find anywhere cheaper than that and nice. It’s shame some customers are so stingy wouldn’t leave any tips. Please come and try but please leave some tips if service is good as she works so hard to please everyone ! She works alone and lunch can be busy. Be kind and enjoy lunch !

I've been coming here for 17 years. The food is always great. Spicy authentic Thai food with wonderful service. Just posting this today to thank Nat, our server today who noticed I'd left my bag behind and ran after me with it right across Richmond - very much above and beyond the call of duty! Cute place, good food, good price

Thought I'd try the lunch menu which I'm not sure if same as evening dinning had fried rice with chicken and prawns...absolutely amazing been twice already. Working around the corner, they were very busy and very friendly evan though I was bit dirty from work. Definitly go again. 100 percent recomend. Great food at great price.

Super tasty and great value for money

Price-wise this is the best experience ever. However quality-wise you shouldnt expect much. We've ordered the tofu pad thai and the tofu panang curry with spring rolls and paid only £12! Of course, we were not impressed by anything. The vegetables were not fresh, the tofu overcooked. For the price, I guess the quality is fair. The location is great, centre of Richmond, which given the price is astonishing itself. Worth the visit if you want a very cheap place to eat, but do not expect the greatest quality

Not sure about the food but a they do not deserve to do business in Richmond with such a selfish attitude Back in May 2021, I parked my car right outside and had my window smashed in whilst having dinner down the road. I turn up to see glass everywhere and ask the staff inside if they heard or saw anything. Firstly their response was "Oh yea we heard a big bang but didn't think anything of it" (not word for word but it was along those lines). However shortly after this a resident from above these shops turns up and informs me my alarm has been going off for ages... Great to know the staff in this restaurant dont think much of a smashed window/big bang and a car alarm. Secondly, I ask if they have a dustpan and brush (as shown in the image), they provide one and after about 10 mins of me cleaning up, it's closing time for Hilltribe. The staff come out and I offer them £5 cash (which I had in 1 hand and brush in the other hand) to buy it off of them so I can continue cleaning without having to give it back, their immediate response, "no no no" as they shook their heads. Great... Thankfully the resident above was kind enough to provide me with another. In my opinion, £5 cash in hand for a used dustpan and brush is a great bargain. In all seriousness though, these types of restaurants/staff aren't welcome here. To not help someone in a time of despair is incredibly selfish and horrible. Please avoid this restaurant, thanks.

Easy good priced Thai in Richmond. With very affordable lunch menu. Not much for veggies but they are helpful with any requirements. They close between lunch and dinner.

Great ambience and authentic food for a memorable experience. I tried the Massaman curry with sticky rice but will be looking forward to trying the other dishes too!

The food was delicious but the room, cutlery and plates were cold. The service was great and I'd definitely go back but would wear something warm and ask them to serve the food on hot plates.

Thai food is one of my favourite and go-to foods any day. Those who have travelled with me would tell that and probably even curse me for it 😜 Nevertheless, I made it a habit whenever I travel abroad. It was Hill Tribe this trip, and I'd rate it 3/5. Decent, less smelly and spicier. As far as recommending it for others, yeah, try it out when you’re in that neighbourhood. Not worth travelling to Richmond just for that.

Great food, friendly helpful staff, pleasant and subtle decor. There is real atmosphere here. I will visit again. Such a wide selection in the menu. I recommend the sizzling chicken with wild ginger and peppercorn.

Ordered a mixed vegetable pad thai. Great staff. Very helpful. Beautiful pad thai with vegetables that you could see and taste including grilled cauliflower.
