Good vibes but service can be slow. Wasnt busy when we went for brunch but took half an hour to get our order taken, and I've waited an hour for a drink before. Food is generally good as long as what's delivered matches what's on the menu. We got Eggs Bennie and fry ups and they were great, but the croque monsieurs were really more of a cheese toastie which was quite disappointing for the price. Cocktails are generally decent. The Sunday market is pretty good as well - lots of variety of handmade/vintage and they have tarot readings too.

Good beers, table tennis and chilled music.

Food was great, however feel like the food was let down by the service. Thought the place looking interesting on the inside. Will have a return at some point to see if we were just unlucky.

Really nice place for a drink, had a watermelon margarita which was delicious and the staff were very friendly. Super cosy place with a great atmosphere!

Very cool place to drink. Go up find your standard selection of drink so that isn't the allure. The setting is different. It's an old converted building with an open too layout from inside. On the top floor there are video games and table tennis with ample seating. Good vibes at the weekend and great place to start the night or be a meeting point.

Brilliant (not so) wee gem in Glasgows west end...

I gave Hillhead bookclub 5 stars a year ago. I have visited 3 times since and unfortunately with each visit the service and food/drink got worse. Food - Ordered a breakfast, this was cold, portion size small and over priced for what you get. Drink - Ordered a certain drink, staff member started to make it, realised half way through that they where out of a certain ingredient. Tried to pap me off with a half done cocktail which I refused. Staff - Usually hanging about at the end of the bar chatting instead of serving. Very work shy. Service at the bar very slow even when quiet. I used to enjoy this place but over time it has went way downhill unfortunately.

Très beau bar, jolie ambiance tamisée, table de ping pong. J'y retournerai volontiers pour boire un verre - pour le décor et l'ambiance - mais pas pour manger car la cuisine (mac and cheese) n'était malheureusement pas bonne. Les IPA pas top non plus.

The atmosphere was great 👍. But I think it was a bit difficult to locate the restroom.

Very bad food, small yet overpriced portions and they always have at least one item out of stock so your meal comes without that item, despite no forewarning or discount. Avoid.

Went for Christmas party . Dj music was awful refused to play Christmas songs . Nobody dancing

What a great find this was, its just tucked off the main street on one of the sides. Outside it looks quirky, inside it looks. Wow.. its good to see an old building tastefully restored and not ripped out and changed to one of those modern, no character places, this is warm and welcoming, a great space to chillax and socialise,

Went in for a few drinks, first time being in nice pub with a good vibe. Would definitely go back.

Would not recommend. I’ve been to the bookclub before and although it was always quite mid and overrated it was never too bad. However, i was recently there for a society event as they advertise themselves as a student venue and mainly target the student sector and you can even find lots of different deals on food and drink for students (20% off for both is mentioned on their Offers section). I ordered a drink for which at first i wasn’t even noticed although there were 3 people behind the bar. Then i asked about food as I’d been eyeing the menu online which is expensive but with the student discount goes down to a decent amount and seems alright. It seemed like they weren’t serving food anywhere else other than the ground floor but my event was upstairs so i asked if i could eat and in the end they gave me some menus which was nice. They took the order quickly but before they did i double-checked when the student discount would be applied. They said once they bring over the check they’d apply it but that we were with a society event so we would get one anyway. The food was alright but nothing crazy. Then i had to leave in a rush and asked one of my friends to pay for it and remind them of the student discount. When she went to the bar to pay (nobody worried about getting the payment so basically we could’ve left and save everyone the hassle) the guy didn’t know about it so he asked someone else and they said they didn’t do student discounts on food although it’s on the website. In the end she paid the full price for me and when she told me i was so confused so although I’ve never left a bad review i felt like i had to. Every time I’ve been here I’m so blown away by how pretty it is and overall enjoy the vibe but the drinks, food and service disappoint every time so won’t be back.

It's a really cool bar close to the University of Glasgow where you can simply enjoy a glass of cocktail or a beer. You can play pingpong or listen to a DJ mix up some music.

Popped in for lunch after a walk with the dog. The place was packed but I still felt really looked after by Anna and Ethan. I got the cajun fish brioche sandwich with scotch bonnet jam which was delicious and pleasantly tingly. Outstanding service, tasty food and a bustling atmosphere - you won't regret stopping by!

Great place to meet with friends for a couple drinks and play some games

Staff were polite, though service was a little slow, but it was a Saturday night. Food was very nice for the price paid and table service for drinks was a plus.

Had a great time here for a birthday meal. Stunning venue, but its very very busy and took a long time to get drinks and food. Probably easier in a small group. Would certainly return.

Lovely venue with lots of space. Loaded curly fries were beautiful but I found the pancakes disappointing. Staff were all helpful and nice but getting the bill to some time

My recent visit to this bar was nothing short of a nightmare. From the moment I set foot inside, it became apparent that this establishment had some serious issues that need addressing. First and foremost, the so-called "bouncers" appeared to be nothing more than university students playing dress-up. They lacked the professionalism, experience, and demeanor expected of bouncers. Instead of ensuring the safety and well-being of the patrons, they seemed more interested in chatting among themselves and flexing their authority. To add insult to injury, the complete lack of privacy at this bar was astounding. Throughout the night, I noticed numerous strangers openly filming and photographing patrons without their consent. It was not only intrusive but also made me question the management's commitment to creating a safe and enjoyable environment. The overall atmosphere in the bar was far from pleasant. The music was unbearably loud, making it impossible to have a conversation with friends without shouting. The overcrowded space made it difficult to move around comfortably, and it felt like a breeding ground for discomfort and frustration. As if that weren't enough, the drink prices were exorbitant, and the quality left much to be desired. It seemed like the bar was more interested in squeezing as much money out of its customers as possible than in providing a quality experience. In summary, my visit to this bar was a regrettable one. The unprofessional "bouncers," the invasion of privacy, the deafening music, and the overpriced drinks all contributed to an evening that was far from enjoyable. I strongly advise anyone considering patronizing this establishment to think twice and seek out a bar that values its customers' safety, comfort, and overall satisfaction.

Excellent place, lovely atmosphere, location and service was good, plus ping pong tables free of use if you want to play with your friends!

Popular bar restaurant off Byres Rd., spacious with plenty of seating up and downstairs. Bar with barstool area. Plenty of beers and meals include brunch options. Food quality poor, too much frying. Staffing bit chaotic, though serving staff friendly. Maitresse d' a bit po-faced, underservedly.Toilets down stairs so disabled access may be problematic.

Totale Abzocke! Uns wurden 8 £ extra berechnet ohne jegliche Erklärung. Es hätte eigentlich 12 £ gekostet. Dadurch dann fast 20 £!! Zudem musste ich zweimal reingehen und nach einer Bedienung fragen. Nicht empfehlenswert!

Visited for dinner and a drink and had a lovely time. The food was nice, the drinks menu was interesting and the service was great. There was a minor issue with my order and it was sorted quickly and easily. Our waitress Maria was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely come again

Food was pretty poor honest. It was luke warm and over cooked, plus veg wasn't fresh. The dude serving (Ethan) was excellent though. Seemed to have a genuine interest in customers having a good night.

Not the best service… soup served cold and didn’t get any apology for it. When my friend tried to order but she can’t speak very good English, this staff rolled her eyes and didn’t wait for her to finish what she was trying to say. (We were the first customer at lunch time, so the restaurant wasn’t busy at all) Never going back.

I’ve been to Bookclub a handful of times and each time I’ve had a great experience. The staff are so welcoming and they always make sure my dog has water and is happy. The food is always up to standard and the cocktails are amazing! The new outside area is lovely too- definitely recommend.

Amazing experience for a night out in Glasgow. Ping pong is 10/10. All the staff are lovely and pleasant. Kept clean and tidy. Drinks taste amazing! Would definitely return and recommend!

Eating in a place that used to be a cinema is a unique experience. The food was very good and the atmosphere too. Recommended! Every week they even have a discount for vegetarian dishes, which is good promotion (even though I am not a vegetarian).

Roomy pub. Attended a pre-wedding drinks with drink tickets, so I didn’t sample a wider range of its beverage offer but I really liked the interior and would defo visit again. Good dinner options in the area afterwards.

My 3 stars for service is not aimed at the staff it's to do with the inability to order from the outside tables, get an app! The sun was out and the seated area looking on to Byres Road is perfect for people watching, unfortunately you have to go into the pub to get your drinks, this is so old fashioned in my opinion and I think their probably losing trade as a result.
