Hiks in Swansea

Very good fish and chips. Good, clean, fresh white fish with a lovely side salad and a sprig of fresh parsley. There is other foods available here too. Nice high bench seats at the tables which is an ideal eating position. Staff and service were friendly and excellent. UPDATE:- Has this place changed? Unlike so many other places, the top notch place has maintained their high quality standards. Their fish remains top quality, unlike so many other places that have resorted to using cheaper, poorer quality fish. I thoroughly enjoyed my food here. Well done Hik's and all the excellent staff.

Food is freshly cooked chips are golden brown and the portions are excellent would highly recommend

Extra big portions, the fish is very tasty and so is the battered sausage, but the pies aren't that good, tbh, wouldn't order again.

Had breakfast here today, it looked better than it tasted, it was quite bland and not as nice as other breakfast places in this area, to be honest, I believe the breakfast was just re-warmed food from previous days, I will return one day and try the chippy food, but won’t return for another breakfast

Called in on the hop at about 1.15pm on a Friday. Resturant was busy but had just missed lunch. We both had a large cup of tea, and a small fish and chips each . Great proper made cup of tea. I don’t know what you call small portion but this was more than enough freshly fried fish home made chips and a salad garnish .Every thing r served red hot and cooked to perfection All reasonably priced Highly recommended

This place is amazing! It was easily my pick for the best chip shop in Swansea since visiting. The fluffy yet crisp chips are delicious. The portion size is 10/10. The staff are all very friendly and, although I have only taken out, the dine in section is always busy when I have been in, which usually means it's a good shout. Price wise, I think it is also really good. Veggie options are always VERY good for a fish and chip shop. Honestly, 100% worth a visit.

Fantastic place. It was the first time I'd been here and I was really impressed. The staff were lovely, the shop was very clean and had a stunning area in which to sit down to enjoy your meal. The food was hot and delicious. I highly recommend this chip shop. If I could give ten stars, I would.

Didn't eat in, however we called literally 10minutes before they closed and they were really cool about us ordering, even gave us a few free things and discounts. The staff were lovely and the food, probably the best tasting chippy in swansea. Next time I have a chippy I'm coming back here

First time visit tonight, absolutely awful. Waited half an hour for food. I get online orders come first so excepted that. Ordered onion rings, chicken nuggets, curry sauce and chips and rissole but didn’t receive the chips with nuggets finding out when home. All cost £19+. All food binned not even the dog would eat the rissole. Food laid out on counter no offer of a bag. Asked for a bag at 30p cost. The only positive comment I have is the guy behind the counter cooking the food apologised for our wait which was nice. I’ll never go there again. Money down the drain. The owner has responded to my comment. Firstly I do not expect a bag to be free. I would have appreciated the offer of a bag instead of the employee expecting me to carry my items individually to the car. Secondly I’m fully aware bags are not free last I heard they were 15p, thirdly put the money from my missed item in the charity box as I will never set foot in the establishment again, I serve better food to my dog. I’ve also noticed how the owners reply doesn’t acknowledge the photos of the slop we were served. We usually visit penderry fish shop with no problems at all. Food is always top quality. It’s a pity we were in the area of Hiks hence the visit.

Arrived near the end of service and the server was busy doing the online orders. However the chef asked us what we wanted and started cooking it, which was kind of him. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Definitely will come back next time I'm back in Swansea.

Not impressed at all! Ordered £42 of food for 7:30 delivery,only to be told via text at 7:45 that the order had been cancelled,and the reason….”they couldn’t make it”! Bit late in the day Hiks! Extremely disappointed.

Love love love this fish and chip restaurant and take away. Although I sure do wish that the staff would make sure that the gravy has no stodgy lumps in it. The Sunday lunches are lush apart from lumpy gravy and sometimes hard roasted potatoes.

i ordered from uber eats and i have specific diet requirements, they facilitated incredibly. Every request i made they for-filled. Not to mention the food was outstanding! 100% will be ordering again! absolutely delicious

Absolutely disgusting service. We ordered food for 7pm. Just Eat app showed that food was delivered at 18.59pm. Not food arrived. Food was delivered to another address. Rung the place, who were next to useless. They completely washed their hands of the situation. And we are now £30 out of pocket. Avoid at all costs.

Just called in, never been here, restaurant and takeaway, just had jumbo sausage in batter and chips, served by Louise, very polite and smiles. Chips were hands down the best I've tried in the UK. Well done, thoroughly enjoyed 😉 👏 👍

Absolutely disgusting food! Will never visit here again as the food was an extremely low standard. I felt very I’ll after eating my food. I felt that the cost of my food did not justify the quality. The lady serving was very nice and had excellent customer service skills.

Been going here regular and usually enjoy my food. Just had one of the worst fish and chips I've had in a while. Chips like bricks and fish looked like it went back in. Batter so dark and greasy same as the chips. Maybe time to change the oil ?, fish price keeps going up and at this rate it be £10 before the end of the year.

Hiks usually has some great food and service - but today wasn't the best. I came into store @19:00 ish on 02nd June, placed an order (take away) to realise after coming back home that two rissoles weren't in there and the fish has barely any salt/vinegar on it. Service was a little poorer this time also.

Today was my first time of eating in at Hiks Swansea. We were greeted and served by the Owner, He was an absolutely outstanding guy, really pleasant and helpful and friendly (Something that is getting rare in Swansea, these days!) I can't praise him highly enough he was absolutely fantastic! The food was absolutely amazing, lovely and hot, big portion's and really tasty, everyone really enjoyed every single mouthful of our wonderful lunch! There is also parking and outside tables in a grassed area too! A wonderful and friendly welcome by the staff and the Owner (Sorry I forgot to ask your name). Hiks is everything and more that you could ever wish for, It's Pleasant and Outstandingly Clean Surroundings, Lovely Staff and Amazing Manager/Owner, Beautiful Food, Massive Portions and Really Good Price's! *Updated * Food still very good but has become very expensive nowadays, is 25 - 30%% more expensive than some other local chip shops which means its an irregular treat nowadays whereas I used to use probably once a fortnightish. Still, as a treat u wont get much better fish n chips. Lovely clean and modern decor,staff lovely,food good quality ,perhaps need to ensure it's hot enough(especially all the elements of a breakfast).....toast should be served on a separate small plate with breakfasts,Wi-Fi password should be on display,need a sign to tell ppl it's order at the counter,will be back.

Not been to the shop, having heard good things about Hiks, I gave it a try last night. Ordered via Deliveroo, when they came they were hot, excellent portions, homemade chips and the Rissole's were beautiful too. Finally found some time to experience Hiks and we were not disappointed. Lovely fish, cooked to perfection and accompanied by wonderful chips. Having tried numerous eateries around Swansea Hiks is the best to date, we will be back soon.

It's too expensive... I ordered two cods (large&small) & chips are seperated on the menu. I paid 21 pounds for two cods with no chips, no salad & they didn't even add one tiny slice of lemon. They called me back to explain me that chips are separated&if i'd rather to add them i had to give my bank details on the phone. Is anybody giving bank details on the phone? About the taste, not something special. They don't deserve one star!

Normally the food is superb. Bit into my steak and kidney pie to discover it was a cheese and chicken pie I think. I do not like cheese so ended up with just chips.

Busy on the takeaway section at 6ish on a Sat but well organised and plenty of staff serving. Very clean and well cooked food, well worth a visit.

Had really great fish and chips from here (again) last night. Thick piece of fish with crispy batter. Chips were hot, crisp on the outside and fluffy in the middle. Simply the best!

Lovely restaurant, nicely decorated inside and not busy. Food was lovely, good portion sizes, selection and tasty. Service was unfortunately slow, our order seemed to not be prioritised over takeaway/delivery orders even though we were sat in the restaurant, and our plates weren't cleared until we left. Would eat there again as food was good.

Came here on Thursday with my girlfriend and her young nephew and niece. Lovely food and ideal portions for children. Staff were very friendly and welcoming (especially considering we had two hyperactive children with us). Will definitely come again.

In my opinion, this is probably one of, if not THE best chip shops in Swansea. The chips are always great. The only negative in my opinion is their price. I do find them very expensive so can't eat here as much as I would like to. More lunch deals would be good. Also, the rissoles are really herby and don't taste like a traditional rissole. Other than that, it is one of my fave chippys

Eaten in at hicks and had take away multiple times never disappoints always good food and at reasonable prices. The fish is amazing from here and the gravy is also a winner for me.

I was looking for a place to finally taste some fish and chips before returning home and I admit that the banners outside the establishment looked a bit too self-celebratory to me. But as soon as I experienced the friendly and no-nonsense attitude of the staff I knew I was in good hands. The food: the batting on my scampi was crispy and thick and it went along just nicely with the savoury curry sauce. The cod was wonderful too, too bad my partner didn't like skins and crusts very much in general. More food for me! Anyway, I had a brilliant fish and chips experience and for this I thank you!

Lovely food here and staff are nice but just eat are a pain, order didn't arrive yet again. Some of the drivers don't bother to follow instructions. Gutted ended up with pizza as stand in. Update they have refused a refund, even though we know I didn't receive my order, used to use them a lot. Not any more, very disappointed 😞

Stood at the counter for nearly 15mins while the 1 chef and 2 waitresses faffed over 2 plates of food.. and the other chef was emptying the bins at the door just at the side of the take away area. There was someone infront of me aswel so God knows how long she had been waiting. Didn't even get so much as an acknowledgement. In the end I left.. I only popped in for fish and chips to take away, didn't expect to be hanging around for over quater of an hour to be ignored.

Lovely chips but the curry sauce was cold today and we asked for Irish curry but got the other 1 and im not a fan. Didn't enjoy our chippy tea as the sauce spoilt it

We have visited this place 4 years in a row while on holiday in The Mumbles and every time its the same amazing food! It's so consistently great. My family and I all agree that it's the best fish and chips we have ever had (we have tried many places) it's just that good. It's a relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant and child friendly. The food is never greasy or sickly and always fresh. I can't recommend this place highly enough. We will be back!
