Highland Restaurant in Broxbourne

I visited this restaurant recently for the first time and overall we enjoyed our meal and the service and ambience was great. Looking forward to trying the steak next time!

Just had the Sunday carvery and absolutely stuffed. 3 delicious courses. Good selection of veg and 3 meats. The staff are most attentive and friendly.

Incredible tomahawk steak we enjoyed! 1.6kg shared between the wife and I. Probably the best steak we have ever had in the UK. Everything was perfect! Onion rings to die for! Ended off with great coffee martinis Service was impeccable and friendly as always.

We have been a couple of times recently. The first time we got offered a bread roll but this time we didn't. The toast with the mushroom starter wasn't as crunchy as last time and the potatoes weren't either. Last time they were some of the best I'd ever had. Still excellent though. My only criticism, as with many restaurants is frozen brussels. I absolutely hate the texture and find it a let down. As it's a carvery I don't have to have them but..... fresh ones are so very much better

Definitely to be recommended. 3 courses all of which were superb. The roast potatoes were golden and so crunchy. Service good and extremely friendly.

Young waitresses helpful BUT cakes tasted as tho they had been defrosted. The scones were hard and tasteless and the cream also had no taste at all. Plenty of tea and coffee was available

We had a family meal for our golden wedding anniversary,we have been here for various family meals.We usually go for the Sunday roast, which is a set menu for £16 99pence .This comprises of a starter,the roast dinner,which has two choices of meat all the trimmings.There is also a vegetarian option or fish if you do not eat meat.,a pudding with about 6 options also the same for the starter.The staff are very friendly and helpful and efficient.

Great night for a friends Birthday , food that everyone else had was good however I had the Lamb Shank and it was the worst Lamb shank I've ever eaten, it was very fatty and grey looking, came with mash and no vegetables, Comedy entertainment was fab, staff attentive after a slow start.Hand Dryer in the ladies needs updating as was useless

All 3 courses were very good. Loved the tribute singer. Service very good and reasonably priced. Have booked another night with friends already

I order a fillet steak which is normally a very soft meat, small and quite thick, If cooked well it would melt in your mouth. Well the steak they served me was not a fillet steak and it was as hard as my shoe…. disgusting food. i had to pay an extra £7.50 for that and i would definitely not recommend this place at all. The starter was nice but very disappointing!!

Being Fathers Day, the restaurant was busy with many family groups. I had garlic mushrooms starter in a cream sauce - delicious!! There was plenty of choice of vegetables and meats. I chose roast beef. and I can honestly say that I have never had such tender roast beef. There was a good choice of desserts too and I had my favourite warmed, chocolate fudge cake. How they can do this for £16.95 is amazing.I am so glad to see that they are now able to take small groups and I shall certainly return.

My Sunday lunch was delivered at 1 p.m., as requested and piping hot. I had ordered gammon which was cooked to perfection. I was amazed at the selection of vegetables - more than I would have cooked, even for Sunday lunch, at home!There were roast and mashed potatoes, sliced carrots, peas, parsnips and Brussels sprouts and delicious cauliflower in white sauce. There was also Yorkshire pudding and stuffing balls with hot gravy in a separate container.This was a man-sized feast and I shall certainly order it again. It was delicious.

Very impressed with the food and service received, it was top draw. The restaurant has met all covid requirements and not once did I feel uneasy. The food was a great choice and good value, delivered hot and a reasonable price. Well worth the visit

Another lovely visit to The Highland. Was a lot quieter than normal but this made it even more ideal for social distancing. Food and service excellent as usual. Burgers are massive so perfect for a hungry teenager. Our 15 year old son said it was probably the best burger he had eaten! Looking forward to our next visit

Took the EOTHO offer and had the Steak. Service was just right and all staff were polite and friendly, tables were well spaced (as per COVID) Very enjoyable food in great surroundings.

Visited the first time since lockdown this evening, a normal 1st class service, food beautiful, and staff that look after you, great place to chill and eat,be back very soon!

We came to visit on a Sunday and they were serving a three course roast meal. The portions were tasty and generous and we left very full. The restaurant is big and spacious. I would be happy to come back again next time I’m in the area.

Been a customer of this restaurant for the best part of 40 years and always enjoyed the food. With only a delivery/collection service currently being offered this was our first such “collection”. The two pork roasts and one turkey roast were excellent. At £10.95 per roast it was worth the treat. We did not order starters/desserts on this occasion. Well worth supporting this restaurant in these difficult times.

I am not in the habit of ordering takeaways, but thought I would have a rest from cooking the Sunday roast when I heard that the Highland is delivering meals during the Corona virus. I could now recommend the Highland Sunday roast without reservation and it exceeded my expectations of a takeaway. The meat was tender, the wide variety of vegetables cooked to perfection, as was the Yorkshire pudding and it was hot and delicious. I shall order a kleftiko meal (which I love) next and will certainly order another roast next Sunday. I chose a chocolate waffle for dessert - it was delicious.

I've been visiting this restaurant for almost 14 years so it pains me to give it a less than positive review but I'm sad to say that since a change in management, it's not as good. The rice used to be served plane but flavoured with cloves, now it's orange, greasy and plasticky tasting and full of peas and carrots - clearly straight from the microwave and likely by Uncle Ben. Fresh cress salads replaced by dry, dark leaves and they no longer serve the complimentary warm bread and butter. Fried items looked uncooked.We also had to wait for 35 minutes before being served when it used to be around 15 in the past. We were tempted to leave. Disappointed, especially as it's a long term favourite of mine that I always recommended to others.

Have been here now 4 times and enjoyed every visit. Cannot get over how serving so many people with various dishes that they always come up piping hot and delirious. The staff are helpful and courteous and the entertainment has always been brilliant. By far the best value for money evening out you could possibly wish for.

Went here on a thursday night for a friend and work colleagues 60th birthday. It was a Michael Jackson tribute night with set menu. From the minute we walked in we were made so welcome. The staff were super efficient and the food amazing. Everything piping hot and so tasty. Nothing was too much trouble. The tribute was brilliant. We had such a laugh and was doing our Jackson moves by the end of the night. Atmosphere was excellent. Was like being at a party. We all had the best night. The restaurant has recently been taken over and the new owner is charming. I wish him all the best. Will definately be back!!

I came here with friends and had a great meal. I had a t-bone steak that was cooked exactly to my liking. My friends were equally pleased with their meals which included chicken souvlaki and beef stroganoff. The restaurant is well stocked with alcohol and we were well lubricated before our meal drinking Keo Beer at the restaurant bar. Keo is a really nice Cypriot lager. I recommend you try. We also drank the House red wine which went down well with our food.The service was friendly and attentive, the prices very reasonable. They also have very popular entertainment nights which include Elvis and ABBA. We were told by Jimmy the friendly owner of the restaurant that they also do Sunday lunch which is very popular. I heartily recommend the Highlands Steakhouse.

I love this restaurant, because I always enjoy the meals served. The staff are very welcoming and eager to ensure your comfort. The food is delicious, especially on the Tribute Evenings, which i now visit regularly, as much for the wonderful menu, as well as the singer! How they manage to provide such an excellent three course meal as well as an evening of entertainment for such a low price, I cannot imagine, but I love it!!

Visited the highland restaurant for my partners birthday and wow it’s a great place to visit. As soon as we stepped in the door the manager was so helpful with parking took me outside to show me personally where I could park my car. We sat down in this lovely restaurant and the service was top class. We was looked after very well. Now for the food, when it came which wasn’t long after ordering our food was piping hot nicely presented and was absolutely delicious. Best steak I’ve had for a very long time. Was a nice portion size. We had desert and OMG the chocolate fudge cake was to die for warm and fluffy not stodgy at all. Prices were great very affordable. We will be going back to the highlands on many occasions in the future as they have tribute nights, valentines obviously and just to take the family So it will be a great night With great food and entertainment. I would highly recommend to anyone. A must place to visit.

Tasteless food. Long wait for service. Miserable staff. Had to ask 6 times for water refill. We had over boiled salmon, tough over cooked chicken and a very bland beef dish. Overall very disappointing.

So very disappointed the place was packed like sardines could not move. Only given two hours to eat and get out. The service was slow the starters just average the turkey meal was terrible could not eat it any of it.

I visited yesterday for Christmas meal, I expected the place to be packed but I was surprised by the meal. The menu may not have changed for over 30 years but the chef certainly has. Soggy saute potatoes, undercooked veg and tastless meat. I've had meals here on numerous occasions but I won't be going back.

Visited on 14th December for a family birthday. The place was packed solid. We booked a party of 24 thankfully only 21 of us turned up, I have no idea how we would of fitted onto the set tables. A table for 4 was set for 6. Not even children would have had room to move. Our table was close to the bar area, whilst you would think that was a benefit we were treated to freezing cold blasts every time smokers went out front or employees went out back.

We visited yesterday for a Christmas meal. I rang in advance to discuss gluten free (I have coeliac) and I was told they could make everything gluten free. When the waiter gave me my dinner, I asked if it was gluten free. He replied "Yes". Another member of our party is coeliac too. She checked with a different waiter and was told no she couldn't eat hers. I asked this waiter again about my dinner and I was then told I couldn't eat it. I was very upset as I had already eaten 2 mouthfuls. One member of our party has a nut allergy and when she asked, the waiter said "I hope so"!! Another member of our party can't eat onions and she was still given them. She sent her dinner back. This restaurant DOES NOT care about food allergies and intolerances. The staff appear to be ignorant in their knowledge and the management clearly haven't bothered to train their staff properly. A very disappointing and potentially dangerous evening.

I love freshly cooked fish. This place is certainly somewhere to get it. Beautifully cooked! I thought this place was closing but it seem it is still very much open (Nov19)

Great meal , great entertainment, but poor waitering for ordering drinks , all together would go back .

Food was good, and didn't have to wait ages for it, lovely restaurant and the staff were lovely. Shame the tribute act let it down. But had a giggle anyway.

24 members of Cheshunt U3A decided to try something a little different this month, instead of our normal lunch, we thought that we would try afternoon tea instead. We were not disappointed, plenty of sandwiches and the homemade cakes and scones were excellent. P!entry of variety and more than we all could eat. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

This is still a nice restaurant and the food is good most of the time.But the new chef let's the place down. The steaks are some what smaller this relates to the rump steaks.. We had chips that were like oven chips and you couldn't eat the mushrooms. The steak and rib nights are good value but it needs to improve to bring it back up to the previous owners standards.

Went for dinner here last night..what a lovely restaurant. We had the sharing Tomahawk steak and it was amazing. Really good service Will definitely be returning soon 👍🏼

Used to use this reasturant all the time,I suppose we stopped going for no other reason than we were always there.Its still in the same family,just a few different faces.What a nice surprise,it’s even better.real old school service.My wife and I were in a high end restaurant in Windsor the other week,The highland beat it hands down..

Came for the burger and rib night on a Wednesday night with some friends and the ribs were to die for! The best ribs I’ve ever had.

Visited about 5 times now, it’s become our go to for family meals. Everyone loves it!!

We have visited many times, but restaurant now under new management. We were not disappointed the meal and service was excellent. Excellent value for money.Very good lunchtime menu all tastes catered for. Wish the new management every success, definitely still on our list to visit again. 10 out of 10 for providing a fork along with a spoon for dessert. Very friendly service, clean tidy restaurant and table set very nicely. We went here for the steak and lobster night - everyone enjoyed it. I had steak and it was cooked perfectly and extremely tender. Friends had the lobster and said it was delicious. My wife and I visited the Highland restaurant on lobster and steak night and were extremely impressed with the choice of specials which included lobster thermador, ribeye steak and other mouthwatering dishes at very reasonable prices. Our starter was one of the best tempura prawn dishes we'd ever eaten! The restaurant is welcoming and very clean.. Thank you Highland restaurant, you made my birthday meal with my wife a great experience.

When my friends and I go out as a group for a special occasions, we often choose the Highland Restaurant. Its always great fun, the food is good and the staff are very friendly.

Chose The Highland for a friend's birthday, there were five of us.

We’ve visited this restaurant for decades now. The service remains both prompt and polite. The staff have been there for many years as well. The choice of 6 or so starters and desserts to accompany a tasty roast dinner is always a pleasant experience. Mackerel starter and caramel cheesecake to be recommended.

Sunday lunch with family friends. The service was very good. We had Sunday roast. The beef I had was very good. Nice food. For starter had chicken liver pate which was very tasty. The dessert menu great.

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with my experience at the Highland Restaurant on Christmas day. I wasn't a fan of the very limited Christmas menu and didn't find the staff on the phone very helpful whilst trying to enquire what was exactly on the menu at it was quite vague. Upon arrival I was impressed by the organisation of the staff and the food was lovely, I had steak instead of turkey, was really nice, the veg tasted fresh and the staff were friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed my Christmas dinner - thank you Highlands!

Lovely venue, staff where very friendly and the service was good, however the food wasn't good. Went on a set menu night and there was no option of Al La Carte which was a bad start. Starters where ok but average and nothing inspiring. Main the meat was decent quality but was absolutely dead and tasted of nothing, which was a real shame. The main looked like meals on wheels or a large Airline dinner, it was dreadful and we all had a different dish and none of them looked ant better had any seasoning or flavour what so ever. The desert was ok but obviously shipped in. I had high hopes for this place as I had always heard good things, but we were all hugely disappointed. Might try their Al La Carte one day, but not any time soon. On a good note the George Michael Tribute was great and had everyone up dancing!

Booked Christmas party to see the Rat Pack!! Well the Rat Pack at the Highland consisted of a very small bald man unable to sing a note. You would have thought with the amount of money this restaurant rakes in they would invest in a semi proffesionall singer. This place crams about 200 people in like sardines, you can hardly move and your always bumping into people behind you as the tables and chairs are so close together. You definitely could not get out quick if you needed to. Food was awful with frozen veg that was microwaved (insult) your looking at £50 a head minimum. Definitely would not recommend this place. Our party were all extremely disappointed with the whole evening. (It was also advertised as 3 men in the Rat Pack)

Booked to go to the advertised ‘Rat Pack’ evening a while ago. Was really looking for a good evening with friends & Rat Pack....

What an absolute fantastic night. The food was very very good, ( 9 of us and not a single complaint). The service was excellent, never waiting for food or drinks. The waiting staff should definitely be acknowledged for their work. And to round things off a great Elvis tribute guy who literally bought the house down. We will certainly visit again. Well done The Highland.

We went to the Highland steakhouse on Saturday night for a meal out and it was superb, attentive service, we had drinks at the bar first with a lovely no rush atmosphere, then when we were ready we were shown to our table. Starters were perfect and the main meals were Superb I had the 30oz porterhouse steak medium rare which was cooked just as I asked and my other half had a lovely grilled on the bone Dover sole which she said was beautiful,

I visit the Highland about once a month and can always rely on getting a reasonable meal at a reasonable price with very good service. Only downside is it can get a bit noisy if a large group is in and I steer clear of their party nights now!

Very disappointed with the Sunday carvery. Frozen "Aunt Bessie" type roast potatoes and Brussels. Expensive at £16. Would expect fresh vegetables at least. 10 in our party Won't be back.

Me and my husband come here for dinner on our anniversary, steak was excellent but chips was awful and the onion rings were barely cooked but was still a nice evening

A very nice restaurant with a carvery on Sundays. Service is always good. Ideal for family /celebration meals. Not as much choice of vegetables as say Toby but carvery cooked well. Service is better than Toby plus good variety of starters/desserts if required. Heard rumours it may be closing - hope not. We have known some of staff for a long time with one of them bring their for 40 years! Pay a visit.

Been here a few times, big birthday meals, a couples dinner and a party. It was busy every time and they had loud music going on. It was a really nice evening and the food was really nice.

I eat out a lot and I've never had to complain so much about my food as I did at this place!

Nice to have a meal in a proper restaurant, with a good choice, and different from same old pub menus. Good portions, good service and nice atmosphere. Lovely for family get togethers. Need more restaurants like this.

They are amazing. I work with a dementia charity. I called up the Highland and ask for advice as I was looking to do a Greek day with the people I support, and as they offer Greek nights that I have been to previously and enjoyed - I was seeking advice on food or things to do.

I was taken here as a surprise for my hen party. The food was amazing. I could eat dessert again now! The staff were very sweet and extremely chilled out which rubbed off on us. 💛

I have been going to the Highlands for many years and have never written a review so here it goes. I’ve been here for various occasions and never have anything negative to say. Lovely food at affordable prices. All the staff are friendly & welcoming. The tribute nights they have are also very entertaining with a brilliant atmosphere. I have also hired the venue for private parties on several occasions and again have to commend the owners. Well done the Highlands Restaurant

For a Sunday lunch you can't get much better. Took the family for mothers day lunch and enjoyed a lovely carvery. Great value for money, friendly service and a lovely traditional roast dinner. Loved it!!

We were a part of forty guests who had been invited to our friends 50th party. The restaurant laid out the decorated tables in the rear section of the dining area which was perfect for the occasion. On arrival, we were invited to order our drinks in the front bar and although the bar was packed with guests, we were quickly served by a well attended bar staff. All of the tables had guest name cards on and we were seated on a long table that seated 14 persons and all of the other guests were seated on similar table layouts. Our drinks and food orders were promptly taken and we thought that there would be a long wait due to the ammount of guests but to our surprise, the starters were served up within 10 minutes and the main courses followed shortly after once the starter dishes had been cleared. All of the dishes looked and tasted wonderful and were served piping hot. The kitchen staff and waiting staff worked wonders in preparing,cooking and getting out so many different dishes to everybody and nobody was offered the wrong dish.The restaurant laid on a DJ after dinner which made the evening just perfect. Should you be considering a special evening in the future, then consider this place. You will not be disappointed.

Good place to go with friend. Food is good and portions are generous! Would recommend for a night out. Entertainment depends on who is performing, but has been good both times we have been.

Took 20 family members here last Sunday for Lundy to celebrate my partners fathers 89th birthday food great, service brilliant prices pretty fair nothing negative to say great time had by all ,many thanks to all the staff and also when we left they gave her father a bottle of champagne.

Been a few times but this one was to celebrate a birthday. The staff were very good as they always are but the food was better than good. The Sifada and the kelefika was really excellent as was my huge white chocolate cheesecake. 110% satisfied

The Highland is one of the best run restaurants with staff that are very efficient and at the same time very friendly, the food is fantastic, tasty, hot and always together as a whole table, whether there is 2 of you or 16 of you. The entertainment is also the best, Rat pack party night is fantastic and the Elvis night is second to none. I would recommend this restaurant for all occasions, if you like a themed food night or like to party with entertainment or even for Sunday roast.

The staff were extremely friendly and offered very good service. The food was very good, we had steaks and they were very good and cooked extremely well yo medium rare which we asked for. Also very well priced, would definitely recommend.

Quite large restaurant on entering but felt comfortable with a good atmosphere.Christmas menu with a few variations.Although there were some fairly large Christmas parties we were served in good time and the waiters were friendly,live entertainment about nine,good night.

we were a party of 5 and booked a table for dinner @ 20.00 hours. On arrival, the place was not very busy and was a bit quite but luckily there was a large Chinese family party on a table and they added to the atmosphere. It was fish night and most of our party chose from this menu but i ordered the dover sole from the a la carte menu as it was my birthday. My fish was perfectly cooked as was the skate wings which some of our party ordered which were a good size and tasted wonderful. We all had a nice evening and shall return again in the near future

Went with my family to the Sunday buffet, felt like nearly all of Broxbourne were here. The staff still managed to make us welcome, and share a joke and the food was great. I thoroughly enjoyed the mackerel salad starter, and the carvery and my husband said the lemon meringue tart was the best he had ever tasted.

Great steakhouse good value i Wil be definitely coming back soon my steak was cooked perfect. And all the sides were great

We have been many times and always go back, service a little slow but once you have a drink and a chat the food is worth the wait as it is amazing.

we would like to thank jack, millie, costa and all their staff for a great night on Sat 30th September. We celebrated our golden wedding anniversary with family and friends a total of 44 people, We were looked after very well. The food was great everybody thoroughly enjoyed it, they even put on disco music and were able to have a dance even the grandchildren joined in. We have been going to the highland for over 30 years and they have never failed us. look forward many more evenings at the Highland.

14 of us for a works do, excellent value for money, service and food could not fault, 1st night of doing a greek dance show with plate smashing, all good fun, although restaurant very quiet we still had a disco and dance to end the night, highly recommend

Booked a meal for 10 people . Everyone decided to order off the set menu at £22.95 and it was noted that if you wanted steak from the set menu you would need to pay an extra £3.95. Starter was good. I had garlic mushrooms , husband had minestrone soap which was nice and no one from the party complained with there choice. Main course arrived and waiter was unsure what steak was what as everyone had them cooked to there own preference so had to take them back to ask. It ended up that once we cut into them we had to change some again . Over all I enjoyed my steak which came with sauté potato and veg but a couple of our party felt it was quite fatty for a sirloin steak . Dessert was a good choice again from the set menu. The reason for my low review is the service which was very poor . We had to ask a few time for drinks, we had to ask for the desert menu to be given it and then having to ask to order desert as no one came back to take the order. You had no particular waiter so no one really looked after you and for that reason I won't be returning

We have eaten here on many occasions, and always get a warm welcome. The fixed price menu is very good value at £17.95 for three courses. Food was very good with large portions.

I remember this type of menu from the 70s.Classic prawn cocktail, melon with parma ham & egg mayonnaise for starters. We went on a Sunday for lunch. Only three selection of meats was available, beef, pork & turkey with a selection of veg, the meat was over cooked but the veg was good.The meal was avarage but the service is good and its good value for money

better going during the week as nice and quite sometimes always look out for the specials on a Monday /Tuesday but 1 thing you'll not get on the special is the dover sole cooked to perfection we like it when a chefs knows how to do the fish properly will be back soon

We were a party of 5 and booked a table for dinner @ 20.00 hours. The place was quite busy but our drinks and food orders were quickly taken. The evening deal was the "Greek Evening" which most of our party chose from but i chose the lamb chops and tomato, onion and avocado pear salad from the a la carte menu. My meal was lovely and was cooked as requested. All of our party enjoyed their meals and the wine and we shall certainly return again in the near future.

Excellent service from all attending staff, absolutely fantastic respect for ourselves and the children. All of the dishes were explained to the children and .... to top that, they even gave us three doggie boxes to take with us because we couldn't eat the generous courses placed before us. I am more than impresses with the fact that this was a SPECIAL for two days only at a cost of £11.00 per head ... Well done to all, see you again soon

we were a party of 6 and visited this restaurant to try the "Greek Meze Night" This comprises of a selection of cold starters, followed by a selection of hot starters then followed by the main courses which included chicken,lamb, kofta's and a selection of veg. All of the portions are large and we just could not eat everything although every dish was very tasty. The restaurant gave us doggy bags to take home. It was a great evening and will certainly return in the near future.

I recently visisted the Highland with some friends having not been for a couple of years. The menu hadn't changed and the variety was okay. Unfortunately my friend and I both had different steaks for maincourses and they were of low quality. The management to be totally fair did not charge us for them and that is a credit to them. We will go back and give the restaurant another chance

32 of us went for joint 50th party. had great night. couldnt fault a thing. food as usual was superb, lovely wine, service excellent and had a good old dance to finish the night off, highly recommend thank you highland restaurant staff for a fab evening

My best friend and I had been planning a surprise 50th at this Restaurant for our husbands.From the manager to all the staff they made it a truly fabulous evening.Very friendly and helpful staff couldn't do enough for us,it's been newly decorated and a lovely venue.Fantastic value for money!!!
