This place is amazing. The food is delicious the salad dressing is to die for! The kids food is well presented and reasonably priced. I haven't seen the Maltesear cake for a while but that might be for the best. Yes you have to que but really your in an awesome book shop while doing it. Altho you have to keep one person in que. Wonder if they could do a service where you take a ticket so you could wander round if your alone?? Your bookshop is lovely as well and your staff are very friendly. The place is always improving as well in true independent style a bit at a time (love your new door!)

Absolutely brilliant place, was warned by my brother re the bookshop, "you can lose yourself" he told me. And he was spot on wide selection amazing prices of new but discounted books and varied selection. Self-control required. The cafe is also first rate and as the day goes on extremely busy, v.good coffee and cake. This place is brilliant. And a word for the staff who are all really friendly.

Not your average book store. Has tons of books to choose from whatever your style. A fabulous section for kids too. There's also a great gift department if your looking for something special. The cafe serves great food. The staff are always really friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and chatty.

Lovely find just outside Buxton - lots of genres and books shelved alphabetically by author so really easy to find what you needed - coffee smelt amazing but cafe was full - next time!

What a great find! A fabulous independent bookstore supporting local businesses and promoting an array of literature for all ages and interests. We were lucky enough to meet the owner 'nanny mcphee' who passionately and enthusiastically shared her recommendations and pointed us in the right direction when we needed guidance. A lovely experience for my husband and I , aswell as our 7 yr old son. We all left with suitable books, bellies full of cake & coffee/milk and a heart filled with reassurances that independent businesses can thrive if steered the right way, led by great individuals and visited and supported by regular customers 👏 Keep up the good work and we look forward to visiting again and perhaps coinciding with one of your fab music collaborations too!

Such a lovely little gem of a bookstore. Books were reasonably priced and the cafe looked lush. Massive inside and was definitely deceiving from the outside. A huge choice of adult books and a good selection of kids books too and some were split up into age categories.

What a great place to go fab books of all sorts book of all sorts all art stuff and great coffee shop but it's gets very busy have to wait to get seated but cracking place to visit

A lovely book shop in stunning scenery. Cafe is always busy with a line waiting to get a table- so if you want the cafe be prepared to wait. Children will love the child part of the book shop. And there is lots of things to buy that aren't books- great for presents

Library itself is amazing! Cheap prices, amazing selection and lovely staff. The cafe is a bit overpriced and the older workers are quite rude. But other than that, amazing

We spotted this on the drive home from Chrome Hill and knew we had to go back. Great book selection and we were pleasantly surprised by the prices. We will definitely be back and hopefully will be able to get a table in the cafe this time! Takeaway coffees were still lovely, though.

Staying at the Duke of York campsite down the road and popped in here on the off chance for lunch. Was met with a waiting line for the cafe and boy was it worth the wait. Great value and tasty food. Pork pie platter was lovely and the special smoked cheese and spiced chutney also. Great coffee and friendly staff. We will be back.

Delicious food. Yummy cakes. Great value. Very busy when we were there, a reflection of how good it is. Staff delightfully calm. Had takeaway sandwiches on previous occasions also excellent. On our list for a return visit!

Great selectiom of books and a wonderful cafe attached.

We drop in here every so often when we're in the area and this time, although the bookshop has remained the same, the toilets and cafe are far improved. It's a lovely shop in the middle of the Peak District where you can sit and relax and read or browse for as long as you fancy. It's just a shame we don't live a bit closer (although my bank account probably wouldn't survive)! Update 2024: in addition to the toilets having been completely renovated and the massive upgrade to the cafe (which serves excellent food), the shop now has free WiFi, a large selection of greetings cards, many of which are from local makers and a section of handmade jewellery and the like. It's a real treasure trove and the prices of the books are very competitive too, even in comparison to the likes of Amazon.

Haven't been for several years. Loved it then but adore it now. So much to see. I purchased a wonderful shopping bag covered in robin images. The cafe was busy but everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. My friend and I relaxed at a table for two and studied the very mouth watering menu. The prices were reasonable and the food quality was excellent. The pot of tea for two contained real tea leaves and it was quite nostalgic to use a proper tea-strainer and rest. Two poached eggs on wholemeal toast were exquisite and very filling. The memory is making my mouth water!

Hummus with pesto, seeds and nuts was so good I almost thought of becoming a vegetarian! Wonderful food and exceptionally fast service on a busy afternoon. Thank you, we'll be back.

What a gem! I love this book shop, I always find something special here. If you're looking for something new I would definitely recommend a visit, the range is fantastic. No this may not hold exactly what you're looking for however provides a different change of pace from places that only stock best-sellers. The prices are very low too, a great place for cheap books and you can even grab lunch here too. Never disappoints!

Lovely place. The books are gorgeous. The layout of the shops is so cozy. It has one of the best baby changing toilets I have experienced. It is usually the rubbish plastic things off the wall! So cute with the child toilets too with the parents. Cafe really different to many. Great menu and good service.

The best flapjacks on the planet bar none. The person responsible deserves at least an OBE. We love the place and visit most weeks both for the excellent selection of books, the many other gifts and of course, the wonderful café. Thanks to all of you x

We often go here to buy books. Great prices. The books are new but there are no new releases. The cafe is very popular and always has a queue when we go at a weekend.

What a find . This is book readers' paradise!!! . There's even a cafe. Sadly, we didn't get to go in it was very busy, and there was a large queue . Think that speaks for itself. Will definitely visit again when in the area.

Lovely ambience in the cafe and one of the tastiest cappuccinos drunk for quite some time - must be the real chocolate topping!! Also, the white chocolate hot choccie is very special, made with Belgian choccies!!

No qualms with the bookshop, but the café… why have a “wait to be seated here” sign if the staff ignore the queue waiting there? Stood waiting for 15 minutes at the front of the queue today. You expect to be acknowledged by staff, but nothing. Just stood behind the tills chatting. Peak District customer service at its finest.

The food and coffee at the café was fairly priced and well made. The bookstore had a large variety of books and was also pretty cheap.

Welcoming dog-friendly venue with a large variety of books - genres including science, lifestyle & maps (plus jigsaws!). Food was OK but we did wait a long time to be seated and then to receive our food. Will still visit next time we are in the area.

Café review. 5 people in party. All enjoyed food. Sandwiches, panini, soup and pork pie platter. Always efficient, friendly service. Have, in past, enjoyed homity pie, bean chilli and salad bowl. Good coffee and interesting selection of teas.

Visited High Peak bookstore and cafe on 9th December, this is our 4th visit and it is as good as ever. We filled a basket with books at very good prices and then went into the cafe for a nice pot of tea. Once we had drunk our tea, we went and paid for our books, just over £50 worth, a bargain for what we got, all books are brand new. Will visit again when in the area again.

After quite a stressful drive arrived at this total gem earlier. Soooo many books, cards and other bits all great value but oh my you must go the cafe, we had the days specials they were both AMAZING! Such lovely staff too ❤️

Fantastic selection of obscure books all very keenly priced and a brilliant tearoom with cakes and cheese scones that never miss the mark. Service in both are superb, go visit, you'll be glad you did!

Amazing cafe with delicious homemade food. Coffee is delicious! Excellent service too. This combined with a marvellous book shop make this a great place to visit over and over again.

Had a really good hour and a half in store looking around and bought a few things, really good selection of books etc, enjoyed a really good cappuccino, will visit you again when in your area 👍

Amazing! A must visit. So many delicious creative drinks options in the café to go with the massive portions of mouth-watering cake. The bookshop is likewise creatively designed with places to sit and read, yet they still manage to have cheap prices, and the staff are really friendly & helpful. They also do a great job of highlighting local authors and produce.

We hadn't been here for quite a few years and were surprised to see the cafe element had spread and there was less actual bookshop. However, there is still a good range to browse through. The cafe (on a Monday morning!) was heaving, so we didn't stay to have any food. Thanks to the staff for keeping (and drying!) my husband's new cap after he dropped it in the car park!

We pass this place on the way to a few family days out and have called in for a brew and a browse and it has a really nice vibe about the place. I want to come for the breakfast one day as we have not had chance as we are always on the way some where but for a brew stop and impropt book purchase I can heavily recomend.

Best place to visit if you are looking for specific books, staff are very helpful and have a great knowledge of what's in store. Good off road parking available, also have an in house Cafe which is always busy so must be good. The bookstore supports local Authors and their works, well worth a visit

Lovely cafe, always a treat. We had to wait a few minutes to be seated as it was busy but there was a fab range of cakes and hot drinks. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Great for shopping for beautiful greetings cards too.

A great place to go for a drink and a snack in the lovely cafe. As someone who loves physical books, they have a great selection with some really good bargains. They also have a selection of gifts that fit the gift/souvenir category and you'll find something for almost anyone.

What a treasure! My cousin shared the site of this converted garage. Find a new author, find a new read, find unique cards, enjoy cake n coffee. Just off the A6 near Hartington we decided a homeward journey needed this stop. We arrived at a full car park speaking reams about what lay ahead. We arrived into rows n rows of books fiction and fact. What surprised me was the costs so very cheap. Wondering why I realised the authors were those who were not in the high rankings. No Stephen King for instance this may explain the costs of Dawn French novels at £2.99. We would love to have stayed for lunch but by midday the restaurant was full. Accepting defeat we oaud for our 10 books and left lifted in anticipation of the reads to come.

Love visiting this place. Perfect for bookworms, a small selection of handmade gifts and a very nice spot for coffee and cake- if you are in the Buxton area take a short trip out of the centre and pay it a visit. Staff lovely too.

Absolutely love coming here on my days off, lunch in the cafe is always brilliant. The actual bookstore is amazing, so much to choose from I could spend hours in there, not just books but lovely little gifts too. Always look forward to returning ☺️

Loved it! We went for a little break during our holidays and came back the next day for the breakfast as we were dying to try it. The hot chocolate is amazing and you can choose either white, milk or dark chocolate 💙 the breakfast was great too with good quality products and good portions. Load of books and cute gifts and top of the top, it’s dog friendly! I wish it was close to where we leave ☺️

I hadn't been to the bookshop for a long time and didn't know the cafe had been added. What a great place, we had toasties, cakes and hot drinks. Everything was lovely, staff very friendly and the place had a lovely feel to it. Afterwards, I enjoyed browsing the books and treated myself to a selection all at very good prices.

It's had a refurb and has an excellent selection of books for all ages. The cafe looked very inviting.

Apart from this place selling books at very good prices it also has a lunch area, which was to a very good standard. Will be going back there again when we next visit the area to top up on good books and a tasty lunch

This is an absolute gem of a place. A discount price bookstore that sells so much more and the best cafe for lunch and cake. Everything is freshly made and the home cooked cakes change each time you visit so there is always something new. Cannot recommend this highly enough.
