Higginsons of Grange have a great choice of pies with none meat options too. Can be a busy place so don't arrive too late and miss out on the large selection of produce.

We were visiting on holiday in November and decided to pie's and other bit home. The naco cheese balls were fantastic. Definitely recommend 👍😊

I always buy some of their Magnificent Pies and their selection of Sausages and Blacl Pudding 😎

I bought a steak and kidney pie which I think was £3.30. It was probably the best pie of any description I've ever had & at 67 yes old I've had a lot! Just as well I live 70 miles away or I'd be living on them!

A place where when I once worked in Grange I used to go in daily as soon as the doors opened. The staff have always been friendly and pleasant. After moving away from the UK and finally back to South Wales, on my last visit (after 20 years) it was exactly the same as what I remembered. Always such delicious food and treats on offer and always a place where “one pie” is just not enough. I really look forward for my next visit. Thank you for the nostalgic memories

If there’s a better pie I’d be amazed. Whenever I’m feeling sad I just get a Higginsons pie and the clouds lift. Five stars are not enough.

The staff were so friendly and the food was fantastic. The pies were full of meat, and the burgers had hardly any fat come out of them when cooked. Try the cheese savoury. it's moreish.

My brother picked up 2 pies for us, family bereavement and I didnt want to prepare every meal. So, just had the second of 2 family pies. One chicken and leek and tonight's meat and potato. Pastry was just the right thickness. Filling was tasty and plenty of it. We had a third each and that was filling. A quarter would have sufficed but there are only 3 of us now. The quality of pastry and fillings is second to none. Well worth the money. Thank you and keep making pies.

Superb range of meat on sale, best pies and sausage rolls ever

A fantastic, local, butcher! Bought a couple of Herdwick lamb racks of lamb and they were nothing short of amazing. Had pork pies and sausages from them before and always five out of five stars.

Bought amongst other things a beef Wellington. Cooked and binned. Should have thought better at the price, but chanced my arm. Normally great from higgies butt not this!

Butchery side no complaints , Deli counter atrocious! Just recently I’ve bought sliced ham( a substantial amount) that was stringy and so salty it was vile, I didn’t even feed it to my dogs. I thought maybe just an off day so I went back and got 6 slices of cooked beef. Big mistake! It was raw! Not pink or slightly red raw and dripping blood( this was supposed to be for sandwiches) I would have refused it but because the lights were out and the girl behind the counter made me feel as if I was being a nuisance I never mentioned it, but I won’t be buying from your deli again! Why are you letting the staff shut up shop a good half hour before closing time! AWFUL AND PLEASE GET STAFF THAT WANT TO BE THERE. ALSO I FED THE BEEF TO MY DOGS

Excellent service and products from all the team at Higginsons. From a sausage roll to a brisket and beyond you will not be disappointed. Not everything is on display, if you know what you want - ask for it, you are unlikely to be disappointed. Their pre prepared packs taste as good as they look - fantastic. Highly recommended checking them out in person or online.

Brilliant quality produce available at this shop. I love the homemade lasagne and the beef Wellington aswell as the deli meats. So good that it's a shame that some of the the staff are a bit miserable, no smiles, monosyblic answers and just generally not bothered whether they serve you or not. Doesn't matter though when the business doesn't rely on the staff being pleasant

We visited Grange over Sands and nipped in for a few pork pies. They were amazing, so we nipped back in and purchased some more along with some beef wellingtons. Omg, they were absolutely brilliant. We are going to visit Grange over Sands again just to buy some more beef wellingtons.

Absolutely fabulous butchers, Deli & pie shop. Their products are amazing and the staff are so, so helpful. Plus they have a takeout next door that do great cooked takeaway meals.

Lovely presentation and meat products

Was told about this butchers by a family member who lives local to it. All I can say is that it is amazing and was pleasantly surprised by the prices. We now travel from Manchester to buy from here. The peppercorn muffins are yummy. The pies and sausage rolls are also some of the best we have had. Definitely recommend this shop. 👍🏻

First time i have been it was excellent with a great choice of products from top quality meats to a range of pies etc

This was our first visit to Higginsons of Grange , and first l tried the Chicken Curry and rice from the hot counter which as good as any restaurant meal, so we returned on our final day on holiday. I bought a selection of pies cooked meats and some ready to cook dishes. The gentleman asked me how they would be cooked , on gas or electric and even told me how to cook the dishes which he marked with the temperature and cooking time . This is the highest quality and they can be assured of my custom in future.

The Welsh dragon sausages are amazing! I wish we’d brought more than 1 meals worth...The chicken parmigiana is just as good... once again I should’ve brought more! The Cumberland sausage pie was delicious!I can’t wait to eat the duck breasts we brought from Higginson’s!Every town has a good butcher, but this is a butchers shop that you will deviate from your journey to shop from. Exceptional doesn’t do it justice!

Bought a piece of rib eye in a roll. The meat tasted awful - almost off. Not good for a Xmas dinner.

We were on our way to Holker Hall but had to stop in Grange-over-Sands in order to visit Higginsons Butchers. We first discovered them several years ago when staying in the area on holiday and once again as we were in the area staying in self catering accommodation we were in need of fresh food. We did not dine in the cafe.The butchers shop prepares a great range of food items to take away and cook elsewhere. We bought raw meat items for two evening meals and some cooked meat pies for lunch the following day. Everything was very good indeed.Well worth breaking our journey to visit.

Brilliant butchers so much choice

Really good food whatever you buy. Their pies are the best I've ever had, especially the chunky steak. You certainly get what you pay for. A premium selection of meats, cheese and miscellaneous foods.

All the food is amazing , great value for money , all the staff in the butchers and the take away are lovely and helpful. The take away food is all freshly made they do sandwiches, burgers, wraps , salad trays , hot pies , chips gravy ! They do the lot . It’s well worth a visit for lunch then nip into the butchers for your tea !

We were visiting the area and were held up in traffic. Got to Grange just after closing time and called Higginsons to ask if they might let us in anyway. They said yes and we bought some fantastic beef and salt marsh lamb. Couldn’t recommend them highly enough.

Superb chicken with parmesan cheese prepared meal. Lots more to close from so will be back tomorrow to take home.

Looked so good on our first day on holiday that we made a purposeful return on our last day to take home some of the salt marsh lamb. Also bought beef and other bits plus some fabulous pork pies! Well worth a visit!!

Drove from horwich to dunsop bridge then grange on our motorcycles to try out there pies worth every mile, pies are delicious 5 star Taste is amazing. And a great ride on the bikes. 🏍😉😁

Pies good, meat better and cheaper from procters down the road

Higginson's has got to be one of the premier pie shops in the UK. We travelled for over 3 hours to visit and weren't left disappointed. There was a very good selection, with excellent pastry and a wide range of fillings. I should highlight however a very limited choice for vegetarians, so the vegetarian in our group ended up with the choice of either a samosa or an onion bhaji. It would be nice if a vegetarian pie was added to the menu available. Personally, I had a huntsmans pie (pork, chicken and stuffing) . This had an excellent flavour and I would certainly recommend it. This was my first visit for over 15 years and there had been some significant changes in terms of what was available. I remember back in the day there were also a lot of square pies, including a four layer pie which nicely complimented the array of round ones. Obviously times change as do pie selections, but the quality at higginson's never does. Was excellent.

Good pies but unfortunately messed up our order. Ordered chunky steak. Steak and chilli and three pork pies 2 small 1 medium but when we got home we discovered 2 small pork 1 small chilli pork 1 medium chilli pork and a meat and potato ☹️

I have chosen Higginsons a few times now to buy something for lunch. The choice of hot and cold pies is extensive and all are delicious. The hot sausage roll today really hit the spot, an£ the prices are great.

Had a walk into Grange over Sands main street , nice to see a proper butchers , people queuing out of door when we got there , shop spotless, butchers very friendly , bought some Cumberland Sausages, lots of meats and specialities all reasonable in price , other side of shop selling pies, sauces etc which seemed to be just as popular as meat side , will review sausage once tried

Stayed in a local hotel who served the sausage & black pudding. Had to buy some to bring home as they were delicious.

Popped in here whilst staying locally, initially impressed by the fantastic display and range available. The butchers were incredible, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We bought 2 Chicken Parmigiana which came in ovenable containers, we also got 2 amazing looking Ribeye steaks. If the occasion allows I’ll definitely pop back in. The locals are fortunate to have a butchers of this calibre.

We popped back a couple of times during our visit. We bought some excellent bacon and sausages for a Full English. These were excellent. We also tried the mini Beef Wellingtons- yummy. They also sell pies and tarts. More than you can enjoy in one visit.

Been visiting this place for years, I can’t wait for our next visit this coming week....quite simply, the best pies on planet earth....being a Wiganer, we are known as ‘Pie Eaters’ but if I ever see or feel a piece of fat or gristle, I immediately throw the thing in the bin. These pies never let you down, the very highest quality, nothing will come near because they never put anything but the best in these pies. High price...yes,.... worth every penny....YES!...you actually do get what you pay for. See you next week guys and for many more years to come!

Went to Higginsons as I was recommended it by my dad, he's the kind of person who when you name a place he'll tell you where to get something eat and he's usually right. Tried both the pork and the Hunter's pies and both were delicious. The pork pie is nicely seasoned with a good amount of pork with a great proper pie pastry. The Hunter's is the classic combination of pork, chicken and a stuffing top, again great flavours from meats and pastry. Will definitely return next time I visit Grange.

Don’t leave this town with out trying something from this delight. Couldn’t believe how busy the place was! Pies quiche scotch eggs etc. Half way through the day the place was nearly sold out! Counted 8 staff on that’s how busy this place is. Everything was spot on well done!

Huge selection of delicious looking and tasting pies

We couldn`t believe the number of choices of pies, pastries etc from this butchers. The window presentation pulled us in and we really enjoyed everything we bought.

Simply the finest pie I've ever had ! Highly recommended and worth detour. Of course the pies cost more than the average pie, but what do you expect from an award winning pie. You get what you pay for.

When in Grange-over-Sands, a visit to Higginson's Butchers is a must. The window displays alone will have you salivating. One side of the shop is devoted to displaying the scrumptious pies they make on the premises. Then, the other side of the shop contains the excellent meat of all kinds, displayed in a most wonderful way. The excellent appearance of the meat section has to be seen to be believed and the quality of the produce is outstanding.People travel from far and wide to sample the delights of this shop and so enjoy yourself by trying either a Higginson's pie, Higginsons delicious meat, or both. You won't be disappointed.

We were visiting Grange by train and a friend suggested we went to Higginsons Butchers for their amazing display of local meats and award winning sausages and pies, they have a fantastic range of produce and very helpful notes, we went home loaded up and everything we bought was delicious.They have a take away counter around the corner too.You can even order online to have fresh meat and pies delivered to your door.

Looking forward to revisiting Higginsons in Feb for our anniversary holiday. Hoping they have some Chili Pork Pies as they are amazing 😍

What a fantastic place to get some scran the food is so tasty highly recommend the cheese and onion pasty .also check out around the corner as they have a cafe which have some amazing lunchtime special offers cheap and tasty especially the chips and chicken curry 👌

The best pie shop I've ever been to.

My husband is a wheelchair user access to the shop was very good the display counter was like a work of art very friendly and helpful staff, have read reviews that the produce was average ,we totally disagree everything we tried was amazing !!!!!

Frendly service from knowledgeable butchery staff. I have bought their Salt marsh lamb ( July) and Hedderwick Lamb ( April/Mayepared and utterly delicious. They do a parcel service which I will try when I cannot get to their shop.

Popular place with locals and tourists which is recommendation in itself.

First rate pies and perfectly reasonable. The beef and stilton was nice and rich but would recommend huntsman's and the black pudding one first.

This was a very disappointing experience. Having travelled from Chorley to Grange to purchase allegedly good quality food we found that when we returned home the Chicken Pork and Ham pie was certainly not that! We tried repeatedly to email the shop and despite each time being promised that they would get back to us we received no response whatsoever. A most disappointing experience

A stunning local butchers and more. I regularly head back to London loaded up with the best Cumberland sausage ever and other specialities such as chicken McHaggis. Friendly and welcoming well worth a visit. Louise
