Hickory's Smokehouse in Wirral

Called in for a quick pint. I must say the lager has been terrible for the last 5 months. Complained but no one did anything about it. Had a couple of pints with a friend but then 6 kids aged about 12 ish came in without adults which I believe is allowed but they continued to misbehave and drink there own drinks and eat free popcorn. When my friend complained he was told by some manager not to raise his voice which he didn’t. On another table with two boys who I reckon where about 13 they where playing skittles with there glasses so I had to tell them to stop it. I was very disappointed with the attitude of the manager and I will take this matter further. Myself and my friend felt we where in McDonald’s.

This place is truly excellent. Unlike so many other American styled restaurants around the UK this one actually does have smoked meats that taste like the US south. What's more the service and atmosphere is outstanding. The house pale ale is highly recommended! I've been for both breakfast and dinner. At breakfast we sat in the semi-outdoor extension and had pancakes and chicken fried waffle, both lovely. For dinner we had a booth with ribs and wings. Everything is priced well except soft drinks which cost more than beer, so leave your sweet tooth at home.

Had my sons 18th here last night. Absolutely fantastic service and couldn’t do enough for us. Lovely friendly staff always with a smile on there faces.

Was a great day with food and drinks however the angry manager talking to his staff rudely and walking around with a sense of purpose ruined the ambience and made us feel slightly uncomfortable. Tall slim with a dark beard. All other bar staff, waiters and waitresses were great

We visited this week for a family meal and the evening did not disappoint! I had the chicken fajitas and fudge cake after being recommended them by our waitress and they did not disappoint. Everyone loved their meals. Also tried the frozen pornstar which I will have to try and recreate at home.Having young children with us too can sometimes be difficult however with the kids pack and cinema room this was made much more enjoyable. Although the food was great the best part of the night was the service by Meg, clearly a busy night yet we felt like we were the only table and had wonderful service from frozen custard tasters, to a birthday cocktail, she made my daughters birthday so special. Just a genuinely lovely and friendly girl who nothing was too much for, Hickorys she is a credit to you. We got talking to meg at the end and as a nurse myself it also filled me with joy that this is what she is going on to do! We will definitely be back for more family meals and date nights. Fantastic in every way. Fab food..fab choice..fab atmosphere.. fab prices... most important of all fab fab FAB service. Our waitress Erin was outstanding. She was genuinely friendly and attentive whilst being efficient and professional. Lovely young lady and a real asset to Hickorys.... look after her as shes looking after you boss man

the welcome was very good jack the manager led us to our table the food was amazing and table staff sophie and taylor went beyond what we expected they even bought my wife a drink and brought over her birthday cake with candles and sang happy birthday the whole experience help make my wife (helen),s birthday extra special thank you very much will definetly recommend to other people. john eaton

Decided to go to hickory’s on (28/08) as I’d not been since lockdown was lifted. We were shown to the waiting area in front of the kitchen prior to our table being ready, it being a warm day I was happy to be sat in the “outside” area but wouldn’t have minded knowing that prior to sitting.The food was excellent, both my wife and I enjoyed it a lot, it being my birthday I wasn’t aware that hickory’s offer you a free drink. It’s such a shame I was driving. Finally, the service provided by Lois was impeccable, given she was also dealing with a party of circa 20 nearby of which they where being quite demanding. She couldn’t have been more apologetic as to the wait etc (which actually wasn’t very long) and her service was attentive, above one beyond the normal expectation. The tip that is added, should have gone directly to her.

Hickories spoilt our 17 year old birthday from the onset. It seems they have reduced there portions whilst increasing there prices. Our daughter turned 17 so we took her and the family for a meal at hickories. To celebrate we wanted her to have a small drink of procecco and in accordance with government guidelines if a child under the age is with parents she can drink. The waitress abruptly asked her for ID at the table and made things very awkward. My wife would not allow me to approach the manager as she thought it would make things worse. The food was under par for what we had experienced in past visits and the whole evening was ruined by the restaurant not knowing what the rules are. Needless to say if you are celebrating your 17 year old daughters birthday and want her to celebrate the evening with a drink in her hand do not go to hickories. Likewise if you want food that deserves the price tag that the place puts on there menu then stay well clear of this place.

First time in this Hickorys, it won't be the last. Booked a table for afternoon outside. Great service great food, great internal and external layout. Young staff, all efficient and pleasant. Will be back, great idea of a dog station so our the dog can go along too.

Lovely meal here on a Sunday afternoon. Service was super quick and the food was really nice. I’d seen southern fried chicken on the menu as a starter before so was happy to see it had made it as a main now too. Sadly we were too full for pudding so might have to come back!

In the hope that things have changed now, but last September was appalling. There was very little reassurance of Covid-19 measures in place, made us feel very uncomfortable and rushed. Children from other tables approaching ours, one child even standing next to my daughter with her hands on the table. People wandering around and staff extremely close to customers. Social distancing seemed to have taken a break after the madness of eat out to help out in August.

First visit for my friends and I, it was a Thursday, early evening, and already very busy. We'd booked so no problem, though we had arrived early so had a drink on the terrace pending out table. At the allotted time we were taken to our table, or should i say booth, and given our menu's and complimentary popcorn. Lovely popcorn btw. Decor-wise, the dining area's very nice, rustic.To begin, we picked a number of starters to share. We tried the fried pickles (frickles), southern friend chicken, corn dogs, and burnt ends popcorn. All came with a dip, or sauce of some kind, and were all very tasty. The frickles were a surprise, i'd thought this odd, frying pickles but as i say, they were good. Done in the same kind of batter as the corn dogs, they're worth a try. For mains, i went with the smokehouse platter for one. I was happy to see this on the menu as i wanted to try everything. And i don't think it was clear on the online menu this was available, looked like the platter was for two. Anyhoo, I gave it a go. I won't list all the items, check out their menu. But there's a selection of cuts, ribs (pork, and beef), wings etc done in various ways, sauces and/or rubs. As an avid meat lover, i really enjoyed them all. In fact i didn't quite finish it all, unusual for me. I was too full, but not too full for dessert :)For pud i went with their fro-co (frozen custard), with honeycomb and salted caramel. Like everything else, this was also delicious, lovely and creamy. And all this food we washed down with a few nice bottles of wine. Made for a lovely meal.Overall, a really good night, and this enhance by the staff. All the staff, but particularly our waiter (sorry, his names slipped my mind), were engaging, friendly and efficient throughout. And also observant of all covid regs. I will definitely go back.

We ordered the smokehouse platter between 2 of us. There was more than enough for 2 people. A variety of different meats, coleslaw, fries, all of which amazing. The pulled pork and beans is very nice, and the gravy, wow. Can't wait to go again.

I loved my time here. Everyone was really nice, like I mean REALLY nice. I got a kids burggie and fries, for desert I had a fro-co and washed it all down with the most delicious milkshake I’ve ever had in my life! Literally I would rate this 6 stars if I could.

Me and my family came here on a Saturday evening it was dearly busy so didn't expect to get q seat as didn't book however the host found us a table and exiled they needed it back in an hour and a half which was fine. Then we orders all our food all came out within 20 mins exactly to order and it was amazing all thr stakes cooked how we asked and food was piping hot also.

Booked 29th May 2pm. Well worth the wait. Had the house burger fantastic and my partner had the sausage again fantastic. Chloe served us again fantastic service a credit to Hickorys.

In 2021, it's not just about the quality of the food, it's also about how safe you feel and the effort to which the restaurant goes to, to ensure that. Hickory's have done a decent job - the food was good as always, the outdoor area pleasant but a bit tight on space, but you can only deal with what you have available I guess. Sadly there are far too many punters who believe the rules don't apply to them and I'm not sure that the role of serving staff is to pull them up, but someone has to. I haven't marked the restaurant down for that because it would be churlish to do so, but some places are safer than others and it's more about the customers than the efforts of the management.We ate a fine meal in good company and came away knowing we'd go back, and hopefully with some fewer restrictions next time as we exit this period with more confidence...thanks guys, we appreciate the efforts you've made - we know it's a difficult job sometimes (even when there are no restrictions at all!)

My friend and I came here for lunch last week. Lots of outside seating and a really nice environment. The food was delicious and the staff were great. A lovely touch was my friend being able to bring her dog and how accommodating they were for him, providing a bowl of water and even getting him his own little bit of brisket!

Feel terrible writing a bad review as it is usually great, but we had to wait over 50 mins for our food, four tables came in after us and got their food well before us. When the food come out it tasted really undercooked. The waiter also added a tip to the bottom of the receipt, I paid it because the issue obviously wasn’t the waiter/waitresses fault, they seemed really busy all night.

Took the kids to meet Santa. It was all done very nicely. Breakfast was lovely, and our servers were very friendly.

We've been here loads of times before but this time we got "seated" on a barrel table (despite requesting a booth) ....it was awful. These tables have a metal bar running around the underneath of the table, where your knees should be. You can't sit at these tables! Be warned.

Tried to book as a treat for my 4 year old son due to lockdown ending. Only slot available was 6:45 but when I emailed, the restaurant rang and offered 5:15pm which was much better.From arrival to leaving our waitress Hannah was absolutely brilliant with my son, nothing was too much and she even let him show her his favourite Christmas decs on the tree.Food was good as ever (although bring back the specials) but after a tough month of lockdown, the service made the evening. You guys must have had a horrible month but your staff are a credit to you, so thank you!

Food was delicious, service was quick, although I have to say I am now going to wait patiently for the return of the kansas ribs that were sadly removed from the menu during first lockdown!

We love coming back here, we're never disappointed. The staff are brilliant, despite the current covid-times everything feels safe and as normal as can be.Hickory's handle food allergies with care and respect and I can't thank and praise them enough for that.

I’ve been to this restaurant a few times , and I have to say compares to what it was a few years ago, the place is now brilliantly ran.I would owe my positive experience down to 2 things, the quality of the product from the chefs and the friendly nature of a bar man. I think his name was Ross. I visited on a weekday afternoon & I have to say this young gentleman was the most professional & and easy to speak to barman I’ve ever encountered (I’m 54 and have been drinking for most of that time).His knowledge was impeccable and his humour not far behind too. At least he liked my jokes. Cheers to you Hickories and to this young man in particular, I hope I got his name right , as he is the only reason giving 5 stars is such an easy decision. He’s a credit to you and obviously knows his stuff. I enjoyed 7 drinks made by him and my wife wasn’t impressed when I stumbled home and fell through the door rather merry. Oh I do love a Tuesday drink. Ta ta and fairwell.

What a fabulous place with amazingly great food. It was our fist time visiting Hickory's and we were not let down. Our waitress ( Jordan) was lovely. She recommended what her favourites were and we gave those a try and so glad we did. Delicious and very satisfying and enough to take home and finish the next day.

JUST BLOODY WOW Hospitality from the minute you walked in the door was on point. Charlie was just a breathe of fresh air, so pleasant and knowledgable, recommended food for my fussy girls. We’ll deffo be going back Thankyou also to Charlie for my girls birthday dessert ( it was so nice all 4 of us tucked in )

We visited for lunch and had a nice table outside. My wife really enjoyed her sandwich and my brisket was good, cut a bit too thick in parts but that’s just me! We visit frequently between here and the Chester branch and food is always tasty.

I have been to this restaurant in the past and the food was delicious. However it has gone downhill. The portion sizes have shrunk, yet the prices have gone up. I had the Jacob's Ladder ribs and they were incredibly dry. Luckily they served free water that I took advantage of so I could swallow them. The highlight was the Hickory's IPA to be honest which was quite nice. The food left much to be desired.I also couldn't sit too close to my partner as the bench was broken and one end would pop up when I sat close to her.

After a morning walk around West Kirby we had decided to call to Hickory’s before we headed off, we didn’t realise they don’t do breakfast anymore (which is why we originally walked up) but nether the less we and had a drink and ordered some food. We have eat here a few times and every time it has been spot on.We turned up a little early but we wanted to sit outside with it being a warm morning and this wasn’t any trouble, we just waited until the bar/kitchen was open. The staff were very pleasant (they always are) even the chef’s were singing good morning when we walked through!I really like the fact it feels ‘normal’ when dining here (i.e no masks!!)If you like the American bbq food I would definitely recommend Hickory’s.

Visited this restaurant with family , table was good but sat by kids toilet , which mean every five minutes people were in and out , not a mask in site , by any staff, waiters lent over shoulders to serve food , made me feel very uncomfortable , food was okay but nothing special , no soap in toilet ,

We went for our Wedding Anniversary and booked online, mentioning our special date. As we arrived we were given 2 milkshakes on the house which was a lovely touch (We were offered Prosecco, but neither of us drink)Food arrived very quickly after we ordered. Slightly on the steep side, but was great quality.Would recommend the Mac and Cheese as a side to accompany your main meal!A lovely evening and a great venue for a special occasion.

I visited the Southport restaurant last year and wasn’t keen on what I ordered however it is a large menu and was spoilt for choice!I decided to visit again in West Kirby and order something else. We ordered nachos to start which weren’t that nice. They were all stuck together and absolutely covered in sour cream. The mains were nice however there was nothing special about them just a (overpriced) hotdog and burger. The “magic dusted mushrooms” were just fried mushrooms in a bowl so I was really confused by what was so magic about them.The mac & cheese was really nice if not a bit too sickly but it was only a side so it was enough.The highlight was the desserts; the campfire marshmallows and the churros were to die for and would return solely for them! Overall I think Hickory’s is just a bit too gimmicky and it relies on that to sell average food. I’ve been three times altogether but the past two occasions form two different locations have been a bit of a let down!Can’t fault the service!

We had a super meal sitting outside on a warm sunny day. Service was excellent and the food was delicious and plentiful. The Baby Ribs were really enjoyable as were the deserts.

Wasn’t going to leave a bad review. It’s normally amazing! This time the food just wasn’t very good (it is normally amazing) but we were just going to give it another go but the lack of soap in both the disabled and ladies was unforgivable during a global pandemic. I’d seen a member of staff come out so she clearly hadn’t washed her hands! To be fair there was sanitiser, but it’s not good enough. No masks on staff, which isn’t ideal. Food not up to par. Husband found sharp spikes of Splintered wood in his icecream, which he spat out but if it was a little kid it could have done some damage. They did take it off our bill but overall between lack of soap and masks and contaminated food I’m questioning their food safety.

Cannot fault the service. Staff are an asset to this place. Nothing is any trouble to them. The Steaks we had were absolutely fabulous. Atmosphere was good. If you like this type of food then this is the place to go.

Service was very nice here, the food was okay, definitely better for meat eaters than for vegetarians...If you don’t like mushrooms or avocado you may have trouble!! Got the government discount so wasn’t a bad bill, otherwise would be on the expensive side

We visited for lunch, we hadn’t booked but were found a table outside. Food was good. Service was good. Choice was really good. We got 50% off the bill for Eat Out to Help Out, otherwise it’d have been a bit on the expensive side for lunch. The Fro-Co was definitely the nicest dessert I’d had in a while. We’d already visited the one in Chester and knew pretty much what we’d be getting. It does have that chain feel about it but definitely worth a visit.

I hadn't been here for a while and remembering how much I liked it I booked it for a birthday meal. Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the food. The staff were amazing, prompt and friendly but the food I felt, was overpriced for what it was. I had an awful lot of fat on my meat and my friends burger was dry. To me, it was just like a chain of 'pub grub'. I never remember Hickory's being like that so I'm not sure whether it's the circumstances (Covid) or, there has been a take over. I probably won't eat there again, as for the money I can get much nicer food elsewhere.

My first time at Hickory’s with a whopping hangover. I started with a frozen Irish coffee which sorted me right out. I had a chicken everything, starters, southern fried burger. Ingredients very fresh and I left about 10 stone heavier

Gorgeous family meal, staff were so friendly and welcoming. The Government deal during Mon - Wed saved us £30 on our bill!😁😁 We have visted numerous times for special occasions. And we have not had 1 bad meal. Thanks again. 5 stars

Came in on a Sunday night just for a few drinks and enjoy the atmosphere. Robyn was absolutely amazing in accomidating us. Was a lovely lad to speak to and made us feel so relaxed and happy. Will definitely come back and have the drinks and next time the food

Whilst on holiday in Cheshire we heard about the Hickory smokehouse restaurants and due to positive word of mouth we visited the West Kirby branch. The positive feedback we heard was justified. It was already quite busy when we arrived, so booking in advance definitely needed, but we were seated straight away. The table was already set for 2 adults and 2 children including nice activity packs. Atmosphere was nice, the staff was friendly and looked after us, without being intrusive and the food was delicious!! As one of our first out of lockdown dining out experiences, we felt safe, social distancing was implemented and the Eat Out to Help out discount applied, which was great, but the restaurant is worth a visit even without this - would recommend!

First time here and Hickory’s did not disappoint! Service was excellent, food was delicious and kids loved it. Will definitely be returning.

Visited tonight for a family meal to celebrate my daughters 18th Birthday. The service given by Robyn was exceptional, he was so friendly and chatty and even delivered a special cocktail for my daughter. The food was amazing as usual. Thank you so much for making my daughters Birthday perfect! X

Service was brilliant, we waited a little time for food but was expected as was a busy Sunday afternoon, the manager couldn’t apologise enough even taken money off the bill for the wait time what was no longer than 20 minutes.All food was spot on, will definitely be visiting again.Very good social distancing all tables spaced out. Hand sanitiser everywhere very clean.

I have to say I was slightly underwhelmed by the reduced menu, being a pescatarian, as I was left with barely any choice. However, I had the veggie burger and it was absolutely delicious. My fiancé had the chicken burger and was equally impressed. Both burgers came with a good amount of fries so value for money felt good. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back!

Our first meal out since lockdown and I felt a little apprehensive but there was no need to at all. As soon as we walked through the doors, we were made to feel welcome and relaxed. All the staff were spot on, especially Robyn who was very attentive but not intrusive. We’ve always loved Hickory’s and I’m so pleased it’s still as good as it always has been, if not better. Go big or go home. It’s always a good meal here - which is why it’s always packed. Personally I like a good burger and chips - there’s a good selection here. Wife had fajitas (odd honey tasting glaze on the chicken though?!) and son had hot dog.Recommended comfort food

This place is so busy! We turned up at 5pm on a Friday and it was heaving. But we were lucky to get a table without booking. The staff were lovely! We all had burgers, and my son had a kids burger with gluten free bun which was delicious.Highly recommend...but book to be on the safe side. They have a kids cinema and play room which is great. Unfortunately some parents don't watch or check their children whilst they're in these areas which can spoil it for others.

Nice atmosphere but busy at 4pm onwards. Our first time experience here, waited ages for our food. The starter ribs were nearly all bone so don’t recommend them. Bird and burger looked fab, as did the mac n cheese look and take delicious. One person had a steak and said it was great. However I think £3.25 for a tin cup of fries is a bit much. The staff were very nice and look after you.

First visit to Hickorys, busy at half term but we had booked. Attentive service and orders quickly taken. We all went for different meals and I chose the seabass - can highly recommend. So tasty and healthy option. Will return.

Family meal for five, very happy with the gluten free selections as two members of the party are coeliac.Gorgeous cocktails an great staff who were knowledgeable about the dishes an accommodating when we asked to be moved to a booth.My only personal criticism is that for the style of food I found it a little expensive, chicken wings fries an a drink almost £20 seems a little steep. But for special occasions and for a complete meat feast in nice surroundings I would go back.

Perfect separate area for dogs if having breakfast and lunch after a nice walk around marine lake. Fantastic food too, great value for money. Service was top notch.

Our food was delicious, seabass was beautiful as was my husband’s beef rib. We ordered sides of mac & cheese and greens, again delicious as always. Hats off to the chef(s). Sadly the noise of the many kids which were literally running around was distracting and unnecessary. It was 5pm on a Friday evening and I get that it’s a nice place to take kids after school, we took ours when younger on many occasions. Staff really need to take control and politely ask parents to look after their children and if they do need to leave the table try walking. The children’s cinema is obviously going to be like a moth to a flame but the rest of the diners really do not need to hear the screams of excitement coming from the room as well as the hysterics around it.Its midweek afternoon meals only for us from now on at Hickory’s if at all.

Visited today for my daughter's 3rd birthday. All going well until a kids football team arrived still dressed in full kit (clear signs at the door state no football kits or tracksuits). They proceeded to run riot around the restaurant opening fire doors and causing havoc in the cinema room. Chavs looking after them (also in tracksuits and football kits) couldn't care less. Whole meal spoilt. Service was terrible too. Will not return.

Went for a meal with wife and son on Friday night and all I can say was will be going again might even go try the breakfast menua as the young girl who served us was great helped wife pick which meal was best for her as she has some problems with the sauces she even checked with the cook for us was a plesure to go and cant wait for day off work to go again

Just had a lovely meal. Food fabulous, service excellent and staff were great especially with the children. Would recommend to everyone and will definitely go again.

I love hickory's, the service can be hit and miss. All very friendly staff but sometimes in busy periods you are waiting a while! My only gripe would be you get too much food. I always get intimidated by the dish and feel full before I have even started! The dog loves it when I come home with left overs though!

Visited with friends and had a nice evening, mainly down to the good company. The food was okay. The service was friendly when they came to our table, but we did feel slightly neglected. There wasn't even anyone about to say goodbye to when we left which was a shame. Overall, it wasn't very welcoming.

Always seems to be busy when you go in which is a good sign.

The food is fantastic at Hickory’s and our visit was extremely pleasant however the organisation of the restaurant is terrible and this has to be down to the management. I really hope it improves soon as I visit the area a lot and always enjoy popping in for a bite to eat.

Booked quiet table and they then sat a LADS loud night out next to us. Starter was cold. Main was meant to be rib however there’s not a lot of point putting a massive bone on a plate of it doesn’t have any meat attached and I mean NONE. It was well

Everytime we go to Hickory's, it gets better and better. The Hickory's burger is absolutely amazing, very high quality meats and the fries are always perfect. Unfortunately they've got rid of the pineapple soda from the menu, but I had the pink grapefruit one and it was just as good.

I must remember not to do the early shift in the evening. Just too many kids - HOWEVER they were all very well behaved but just a little too noisy for a miserable old s** like me. Staff great and food excellent. Drinks came out of a bottle ! Everything to my liking. Reading a menu in the conservatory part is very difficult so I used my phone light. I was so please to see many others (and younger) doing the same - may be something to consider guys?

There was not one thing I could fault the experience on. We booked the table only two hours before and when we arrived, early, we were shown to the bar and told we would be advised when our table was ready, we was, right on time!

We had lunch here on Sunday. One of our party took ill and the manager here could not have been more helpful. Really supportive. The food and service was great. With kids this really is a good place to go to. Thank you for being so kind on Sunday.

I've not been to the West Kirby hickory's in years, as the last time we had gone we had been disappointed, but we have been to Chester a number of times. (And we love it)

The food is very bland and boring, the staff don't really make it a good atmosphere. Felt the woman was annoyed at us when we asked for more sauce. Very overpriced for what you get, I've had nicer burgers in Burger King.

Just had tea here , food was really good and service from Chris topped it all off. Fajitas very tasty and steak cooked as ordered !!! Thank you.

Food is just very poor and over priced it tastes as bad as it looks. Went with my family last year didn't like it then my son loved it he was the only one out of the family that did. 🙄🙄🙄

Went to hickory’s yesterday for the first time, we where celebrating our wedding anniversary, we where shown to a table really quickly.

Not sure if lunch or dinner but who cares. The food was excellent in every way the prices were good the place is good to sit in especially in the conservatory on a nice day. Friends we took were very impressed. The 2 members of staff were excellent and very friendly.

Haven’t been here for some time. Eight of us plus toddler booked a table for lunch. Service was pleasant if a little slow. Drinks took a little longer than expected to arrive but were all satisfactory when they did. Food was lovely, too many different choices to mention but the beef brisket and the frickles were excellent. Little play area outside was a nice touch, little one enjoyed the chalk and black boards. Will go again.

Called with a American lady. new to the area and what a time we had the Brisket bites are amazing. great staff which was very helpful and had great knowledge of what to offer the customer. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will be back soon.

Been hickorys many times in the past and always found the food lovely. So decided to go back again after not going for a good 12mths or more and I’m sorry we did . The food came which look ok but afraid to say didn’t taste so good , my partners ribs were salty and my meal was very soggy (the bun).

I came in with my family and had a really great time. The staff were lovely and food was really good. Really enjoyed the atmosphere- looking forward to coming back.

Visited the west Kirby hickory's on several occasions as well as Chester and north Wales ,west Kirby by far the best ,my partner booked for party of six .second time in a month ,the party ordered 3 chicken waffles, hot dog for my daughter ,ribs and I ordered Texas beef brisket .all meals served within a minute of each other excellent service ,when my brisket was delivered I noticed it was very fatty but proceed to eat it ,the amount of fat was ridiculous very little meat at this point the server came over asked if everything was ok he then looked at my plate and commented on how much fat there was then came back with a couple more slices on a plate which kind .I did try the other slices but to be honest they were just as bad , everybody else in the party said the meals tasted excellent .I would go again but probably give the brisket a miss.

Popped in after pre return to school shopping, weve been hefore and it was a fabulous as ever. The food was divine, salmon was subline. The classic american milkshake was delightful and full of colour as well as flavour. Excellent service, surroundings and atmosphere. We will be back soon.

Visited Hickorys yesterday evening with my partner. We were seated quickly (we had made a reservation), but it took a while for our drink/food orders to be taken and about 10-15 minutes for our drinks to arrive (one was a bottle of beer and it took a while for my cocktail to be made up which was a bit odd). The restaurant wasn't particularly mad busy, just normal. My partner had the sharing platter for one and I had the louisana steak. The food was brilliant and didn't take long to come out which was good as we were starving! We didn't have desserts as we were full from our main meals.

Four of us visited Hickory's on a Thursday evening when they were about half full as a birthday treat for our son.

Family meal with the kids... hosts could not have been more attentive. Food was delicious, menu great for all. Well done guys... great service tonight! We’ll be back soon.

Arrived for 7.30 table for six, it was very busy but they where very well organised drinks came quickly the waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu, we all ordered different meals all where excellent I had the double cheese burger it was excellent another had the salmon and said it was really good. The waffles are a must light and fluffy, be warned it is very noisy ! But the food out weighs any of that plus the excellent service, will be back soon, as made so welcome and nothing was to much trouble

I have tried a lot of smokehouses in the USA and of course if your somewhere lie Texas its great so I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of meats here, and beers and cocktails etc.

We has a lovely meal this evening, our waitress Georgia was great and brilliant with the kids, a little bit of a wait for the food but the manager came to the table to explain and was also lovely. Will definitely visit again.

Our daughter said we would enjoy the food and restaurant itself and we weren't disappointed. The food was excellent we had the brisket and beef ribs for mains and had a selection of starters.

We come quite often for evening meals, but this time we tried their breakfast. We had a chicken & bacon waffle with maple syrup and a peachy smoothie. It was gorgeous. I'd award 5 stars if it stopped adding to the plastics crisis with silly things like toothpicks & straws. Wood & paper just as good guys!

I always look forward to my meals here as usual a great night with great food. We were served by Lewis (I think) great guy, looked after us start to finish and did it with a good sense of humor!

After hearing about the 2 star hygiene rating I thought I’d give it a try well i won’t be visiting again the food was poor my chicken in a basket was cold and didn’t get a chance to tell staff as they where too busy or simply couldn’t be bothered to ask is if our food is ok the men’s bathroom was covered in cobwebs and the restaurant seemed to be just lacking any really atmosphere which the hickory’s chain usually have very disappointing overall.

Its been 72hours+ and the manager has had every chance to deal with my complaint, however no contact.

Had a family dinner after my sons graduation last week. We were delayed 30 minutes past our booking but they obliged with a table for 4 straightaway. Great ambience with an American west theme( as Hickorys are) . Had non alcoholic cocktails which were great. Got the bag of traditional popcorn at start. A bit salty though, may be just an aberrant bag ! Mains were tasty and sumptuous. The chocolate marshmallow, icecream with cookie and tortilla with cheese and jalapenos were lovely.

We have been here many times and always really enjoyed it. Unfortunately it’s doubtful that we will return after the last two visits.
