Friendly staff, great coffee, lovely place to take a break. Cakes looked amazing but didn't try any. Vegan sausage roll was highly rated. Dog friendly cafe, although a badly behaved hound was in there when we visited, constantly barking at the couple of other well-behaved hounds who were just chillin', which made it slightly less relaxing this time. Grrr woof!

Lovely cafe with indoor and outdoor seating which is off the main road. It’s dog friendly and staff are welcoming and friendly. Marked down a star because how expensive the food is - such as £10 for a jacket potato with 1 topping. The service was also a little slow on that day but we weren’t in a rush.

The Hardwicke Cafe is a true bacon butty haven, living up to its reputation as the maker of the "best bacon butty in the world" as described by our friends. Our visit to this charming cafe was a mouthwatering experience that left us craving for more. The use of fresh, locally-sourced products was evident in every bite. The quality of the ingredients shone through, making each bacon, egg, and sausage combination a delightful treat for the taste buds. If there's one minor setback, it would be that the bun, while delicious, didn't quite have the sturdiness to handle the glorious combination of bacon, egg, and sausage. It's a testament to the generosity of their servings, but it's a problem I'm more than willing to overlook. Overall, the Hardwicke Cafe deserves nothing less than a solid 5-star rating. The taste, quality, and the sheer joy of indulging in their bacon butty more than compensates for any minor bun-related inconvenience. If you're in search of the ultimate breakfast delight, look no further than the Hardwicke Cafe; it's a bacon lover's paradise! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We were going to call in The Green House for breakfast but it was closed for refurbishment so we saw this nearby and went in. We ordered coffees then asked if they did breakfast. It was our mistake to order drinks first. The answer was "only breakfast buns" but looking at the menu, they do serve bacon, sausage, eggs (all in buns) and beans (with a jacket potato) so how hard or imaginative would it have been to offer a breakfast? We only stayed because we'd just ordered coffees. Looking at the menu and the surroundings, there was a sign which mentioned how 'Gemma' did the front of house whilst 'Spencer' created the magic in the kitchen with the beef...well for a jacket potato with cheese, it would have cost you £10...now that's not magic...its a mystery! So, the main point of this review is that place is very expensive and does not offer any magic experience. We won't go in again.

Nice place, great courgette and fennel soup of the day and the random woman I sat opposite who had an eye patch and a wooden leg said she enjoyed the lamb pasty a lot but we both agreed it was very expensive. More like restaurant prices for a cafe quick pit stop. I’ve hardly been able to buy any courgettes this year and none of my plants grew yet these fellas have so many that they’re blending them up and making soup out the little blighters.

We arrived at Coniston on Sunday late August Bank Holiday. Every where was busy. But we found Herdwicks Cafe with spaces and a bonus, it was dog friendly. We sat outside, we wanted lunch and love baked potatoes, but could not believe they were £10. We decided to just order one scone as the were expensive but looked very large. The staff were very polite and attentive and the coffees and scone arrived promptly. The scone was good but a bit dry like they had been sitting all day. But most disappointing was the cheap and not cheerful Lichfield jam, plastic satchets. We have been to the Bluebird Cafe, Brantwood house Cafe and Undercragg Cafe at Torver where the scones were perfect and all served with Wilson &sons Tiptree Jam in small sealed jars. Just a small touch that makes a big difference. We have been to some excellent cafes at places like Sandringham House Cafe, Crathes Castle Cafe near Balmoral and Chatsworth cafe and never paid £10 for a baked potato. Just a bit too much. We are often in this area, but would not come back and would not recommend.

All I can go off is our experience there yesterday afternoon. Although the place had customers, we popped in just for an ice cream. We stood at the counter for 5 mins with staff totally ignoring us. Granted that were making coffees and dealing with other orders but to be totally ignored is unacceptable. A quick we will be with you as soon as possible, or take a seat would of sufficed. We turned on our heels after 5 mins and went to a competitor around the corner who will be receiving a 5 star review off me.
