Heard good reviews about the herd Sunday roast. I went with my daughter today and the food was lovely just like a home made roast. Good service, staff friendly thank you I will be coming back again x

Really, really impressed. Delicious smashed burger - the Korean one I had was fantastic and my wife loved her cheeseburger. The place has such a positive energy about it. The serving staff were so accommodating and kind; rushed off their feet but so attentive. Customer service impeccable! Awesome place - can't wait to return! Pride of Bedford ❤️

Recommended by a friend and was everything and more. The steak was so tender and juicy, best sticky toffee pudding I’ve ever had. Very cosy environment, felt like I was eating a homemade meal. Karl was our host and was amazing, will definitely be coming back

Currently my favourite place to eat. The burgers are great, the sides are great and the onion rings are the best I've ever had. The beer selection is really good too! 🍻 I had an Asahi and my partner had Goose, but we both said there were no bad beers, we'd drink them all. 10/10 I've already recommended to a few people.

Loved everything about this place. The proprietors are a lovely husband and wife team. You can feel their enthusiasm for the place and for the customers. The food was great as was the ambience. If there was anything to say by way of kaizen, wished the space was just a little bit warmer. But it was altogether a pleasant experience.

Me and my wife came into Herd in Newquay for our first time. We ordered our food what was very easy and we had the food to take away. Once we got home I opened the bag of hot deliciousness and shared out what we ordered. Then finding out we ordered gravey but didn't have it in the bag. I was slightly gutted as everyone raves about the gravy but then I picked the heavy burger package and stsrted to unwrap it and digging into This amazing treat this is the best burger I've ever eaten. I'm an old man and eaten lots of burgers in my life. Ive ignored the gravy and Herd deservs the 5☆. I will be back.

Incredibly slow service. Waited nearly 10 minutes just to be spoken to when collecting my take out. 1 person on the bar serving Guinness from the bizarre new font which takes forever and seemingly unable to do anything else whilst waiting for it to finish pouring the drink. Hope the food is worth it

Went to Herd yesterday with my friend. We ordered 2 burgers and chips, after waiting for half an hour we received wrong order. I ordered jerk chicken burger and got beef burger, I had to wait another 20min for my chicken burger, when arrived it was plain dry bun with no sauce in it, no salad, nothing apart of chicken filet and teaspoon pineapple salsa. Chips were nice but very small portions. People were vaping in the dining area, table next to us, which seems didn’t bother the owner. Definitely there are better places in Bedford to enjoy nice evening. I will not be returning.

Incredible burgers and best Sunday roast in Bedford.

Got a take away this evening. Tried the new Korean loaded fries and was not disappointed- they are amazing! Everything about them was so good and the portion size was well worth the cost. The burgers were top quality as usual. Looking forward to next time already!

We hadn't booked but the manageress managed to fit us in for the best Sunday roast we've had in a restaurant. Generous portions, amazing roasties, crispy skinned half chicken and a brilliant selection of veg, not to mention the most yummy Yorkshire pud, the beef was beautifully cooked and moist. Service was attentive even though it was busy. Excellent and great value, would thoroughly recommend, but book first!

I was happily surprised by the quality of the food and service as a last minute booking to coincide with a treasure hunt route.

The atmosphere was amazing . And I have to say probably the best burger I have eaten in a long time. 5/5 Well worthy of a visit.

Went to Herd this afternoon, and the chef opened up for us even though he was on his break! He was very polite, and food came quicker than he had anticipated to us. 5 stars to Herd and the chef! ❤️

Now a staple of Bedford's restaurant, and nightlife scenes, Herd continues to deliver quality food, great drinks and a club vibe that is more akin to the haunts I used to travel to London to find, than any typical Bedford night spot. The food is good, but it's always been good in my opinion. If you're hankering for a burger, this is a decent place to get one. There's a great range of craft beers and gin options so you won't be left wanting on the alcohol front. But the best thing about the place - is the downstairs room! At the back of the venue there's a door that leads down to one of the best intimate clubs rooms I've ever seen (and for better or worse, I've seen a lot!) The things that makes it, is the sound. The system is loud, but the room is so exquisitely engineered that you can still have a conversation on the dance floor. It's something I've never experienced anywhere else and I highly recommend you check it out if clubbing to decent music is your thing. There are DJ's there most weeks as well as up on the restaurant area from time to time. Music is a staple at Herd and the vibe is relaxed, friendly and a lot of fun. Check it out.

Wow the chips and burgers are amazing!! Their rosemary and garlic chips are amazing. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Not one of these franchised places. The food is second to none. Ordered from gogettr and been in restaurant.

A lovely location, delicious food, friendly staff, couldn't ask for more

Food was nice, service was appalling... Arrived through a red curtain, which was very odd and giving Amsterdam vibes!! Seated and order taken, food arrived after a long wait and it was pretty good but no wow factor, just your average burger and chips. The restaurant was very quiet for a Saturday evening. Then absolutely no service, no further drinks, no desert menu, plates were not cleared away, no bill brought over. We paid on leaving and they had to add the drinks onto the bill by hand, whilst we waited after spending ages trying to find our bill. A bizzare experience from start to finish, so I wouldn't return.

Best roasts in Bedford! Huge amount of food but you don't lose any quality because of the quantity. Best roasties I've had, and even the vegetables were amazing. They had highchairs but the only slight negative was there was no baby changing facility.

Small niche place that knows how to cook food. The Sunday roast is by far the best I've ever had eating out. Been 3 times so far and each time was the same , perfect consistency. Freshly cooked and hot , also you get a full plate unlike everywhere else. Ambience is great and staff are great. Diving in to a burger next as have heard they are amazing. If you're thinking of going there think no more , just go , you won't be disappointed!

I live in Brighton with my 30 year old son and we consider ourselves Burger aficionados. We always try out any new outlets and have a Burger delivery at least once per week. I have met Jess and Matt who own and run Herd. They are a lovely couple and run an excellent bar. Their burgers were recommended to me by a friend and my first thought was that 'they can't be good at making burgers too'. As it was my first order I went for my reference burger, a Cheeseburger with nothing else except maybe onion. I was hungry so I ordered two. When I took the burgers out of the bag I was surprised how substantial they were and thought that there was no chance I would eat both of them. I am finally getting there with the review. They were two of the best burgers I have ever eaten. Truth! They were that perfect pink but still thoroughly cooked. I absolutely annihilated them and for a few moments before my gluttonometer kicked in I thought I could of handled a third. I could not recommend them more highly. Jess and Matt don't only do good burgers too. Then do flipping excellent burgers too.

Best place to go for good vegan/veggie options (especially for Christmas parties!) First time getting an actual roast with everything on it instead of having to settle for a random/limited vegan option. & it goes without saying that their food is always amazing the rest of the year too- and two courses was only £20!😍 nowhere does it better 🥳

Good food quite expensive, drinks are really expensive , not sure u get proper measures as they don't have optics only the measuring cups , and different staff charge different prices

Lovely chilled vibes in the bar with great live music being played by a real DJ on actual vinyl records!! Food was absolutely delicious as always. Matt, Jess, the bar and kitchen staff really are the hostesses with the mostesteseses 🙂

Sunday lunch was amazing and nothing was too much trouble the chef was great and made sure all my celiac needs were met, can't wait to go again.

Good burgers. They were busy for a Wednesday and we had a large party. They got our food to us in a bit of a wait but it was worth it. Understanding because they had one chef at the time. Well cooked and tasted great. Would recommend.

Had a great experience day drinking session there. Me and my partner walked past there and atmosphere looked great and sat outside my a table of regulars of the place and they made us feel very welcome. Drinks were great, stayed for food which was delicious and definitely worth trying. The hosts we're great to meet too. Looking forward to go back. 🤘

Really tasty roast dinner. So big I couldn't eat for the rest of the day and half of Monday. Didn't get to try a pudding sue to being so full up. Best variety of veggies to compliment the meat and Yorkshire. The giant Yorkshire was my favourite bit of the meal!

I have been here a few times, the food has always been great - one of the best burgers in town for sure but they are never open! I have tried to visit the herd on many, many occasions recently... I'd say atleast 5 in the last month and they are always closed even though it clearly states that they are open. I don't even know how this place is still functioning as they are closed 90% of the time.

Hands down the rudest manager I have ever met. Granted we were late for our table but we attempted to call to warn them and had sent some of our table ahead of us to warn them that we were running a bit late. I genuinely would have rather them say they didnt have the capacity for us but instead we were met with her rudeness and aggression which really ruined our evening. Having been to herd previously and had good experiences, I have never had to deal with her and will be pleased in the fact I will never have to again as I can hand on heart say, I will not be going back. Such a shame as she is letting down what could be quite a good restaurant.

Fantastic Sunday roast, brilliant value! Will come again.

We called to make a mid week reservation. After much procrastination we were told that we could come but no later than our alotted time. We arrived 5 minutes late to an empty restaurant with only our reservation and a larger table in the diary- arriving after us . We were shown to our table and before we had a chance to sit down, the chef/owner came out of the kitchen and told us 'you need to make your order now'. Making an instant order would not normally be a problem as we know what we like to order, but being made to feel unwelcome and spoken to in that manner was unacceptable. Normally you'd expect a customer to take 10-15 minutes to decide on drinks and food etc. So why, if you are on such a strict time scale would you accept a table cover? Really disappointed. We left. Prior to this I've tried to call to book a reservation for a sunday roast and had the same disgruntled voice on the end of the phone - which I've dismissed because we like the food there. But this was the final time we visit the restaurant. We ended the night in The Pantry around the corner. Much better service.

Not too bad for a good night out

I booked a table of 18 for my birthday at Herd and it was a fantastic experience. The food arrived quickly and hot, and my burger was one of the best I've ever tasted. There was a great selection of drinks and delicious cocktails. Service was fast, friendly and incredibly helpful - particularly given it's not easy to serve such a large group! Huge thanks to the team at Herd!

After not being able to order via the Website, I phoned the Burger Bar and was advised that even though Google said 'Delivery', and reviews said delivery, they didn't actually deliver, and that they had no idea why Google and reviews said that? Loved the menu, so disappointed they don't deliver... Grrr

Great food, great staff, great atmosphere

Amazing staff on the paint section . Yet I had found it impossible to find the steel toe capped boots . Needs reorganisation and clearing up. Products must be made clearer. Overall I’d give a 3/5 starts. Edit: pardon me I seem to have a made a bit of a goof here 😅 . Now I don’t normally review restaurants but this is a fine grill that serves an excellent burger 4/5

Emailed to book a table for four over a week in advance, got a message back asking me to call, which I did. No answer, tried again, no answer, emailed again and was asked again to call for reservations, I did, no answer! Gave up and booked somewhere else, emailed them to tell them, received a message from Herd, saying ‘Enjoy’. It’s tough climate out there at the minute, sarcastic and arrogant messages to prospective customers won’t secure a long lasting and successful business.... Don’t give your hard earned cash to businesses like this that couldn’t care less about customers. Had a great meal elsewhere with an easy and efficient booking service.

Been looking at visiting Herd for some time now, the welcome was warn and friendly, service was good and food was of a high standard, I must say this was one of the best burgers i have tasted. As a beer lover the choices were limited in my mind, however this wouldn't stop me from visiting again.

Fantastic Sunday roast served by friendly people.

I came here recently with a group of friends. The food was absolutely amazing and the vibe was like a mini London! The crowd was great, we met some fab people so ended up staying on for a few cocktails. We had the best night and can’t wait to go back.

Always enjoy food here. Came last week for Sunday lunch, which I hadn’t had. Did I enjoy it. Yes was so good, had to come again this week with my partner . It was excellent again, lots of different vegetables and roast rib of beef. Finished off with boozy lemonade 🍸 absolutely delicious, and of course if you are with people that don’t want the Sunday lunch, they can have the normal menu.

A great place for drinks, food and vibes. Herd hosted my 30th birthday party here back in September 2019 and the occasion will long go down as a night to remember. It's great to see the place ever developing and venturing into new grounds with menu choices, brunch events and so on. Great drink selection and amazingly tasty food. A must visit spot if you're looking for a proper burger in the town. Highly recommended!

My first visit. The Service was excellent. The Herd burger and their chips were delicious. And drinks were good. What not to like.

This is a really lovely place just out of the town centre but near enough to be a quick easy walk to. The menu is varied and has a great combo of classics you know and creative options. We had the Moving Mountain veggie burger, Korean burger, mac 'n' cheese, and the Herd House burger. All, including the sides, were fantastic. Super flavours and cooked just right. (I'd have taken photos but we wolfed it down!) Highly recommend for a very enjoyable meal. Child/family friendly, popular venue and friendly efficient service. On this experience, it's faultless.

Had a lovely evening at the Herd, the burgers are to die for and the fried chicken is amazing. Cannot recommend enough, the service was quick and the ladies are lovely! Get down to the herd if you want a good night!

1st meal out after lockdown eased. Patio heaters and in a fairly sheltered spot, so fine to sit outside. Fantastic burgers and huge onion rings. Would definitely recommend and will return.

We had a Herd takeaway for the first time (we have been plenty of times to the restaurant) and the food quality was brilliant. Was a quick and easy pick up but they do delivery too (to Bedford).We were so excited to be able to have Herd at home but of course can't wait until we can eat in again!

The Herd in Bedford is a family run business they go out of their way to make sure you are made welcome food is always great with good service

We were tempted to try Herd from their Fiver fest offer and lets just say that I haven't been able to stop thinking about those burgers since. First of all we didn't realise that Herd was dog friendly! So nice to add a great place onto the list we can visit with our little dog! The food was honestly the best burger I have had in ages. As a vegetarian I don't often crave burgers as I find I'm most likely to be disappointed by a dry veggie alternative. However they had multiple veggie choices as well as amazing chips. The onion rings are to die for. My partner had the Herd House Special Burger and he loved that too. They were brilliant with their COVID safety precautions as well. We were asked to wipe our phones down with wipes they provided before we sat down which we were more than happy to do (we hadn't thought about this before and it shows how seriously they take the safety of their guests and staff). As well as providing a sink to wash hands in on arrival, not just some hand gel. Very impressed. We will definitely be back!

Last night I experienced the Korean burger. Can I just say, if you can trust a random review trust this one. Get that burger. Deep fried succulent chicken with a Korean party of flavours that explode in your mouth. Every Thursday now at the ever brilliant herd. I now never have to plan a Thursday dinner. This is the staple for the foreseeable.

My wife and I have eaten in and had takeaways from Herd. Wonderful high quality ingredients that are superbly cooked.

Had a takeaway, first class, just a shame we can’t go to the restaurant at the minute, easy to order, delivered on time and so good, thank you to Matt and Jess, absolutely superb! Look forward to visiting again, if we are ever allowed to!
