Henry's Kitchen in Elmbridge

So, I swung by Henry's Kitchen for lunch, and let me tell you, it was legit. First off, vibes were cozy yet classy, like the perfect mix of chill and fancy. I went for the arancini to start – large tasty portion. Then, I dove into their Henry's Burger, and dang, it was cooked to perfection. Juicy and delicious, with good quality meat. And don't even get me started on their chocolate brownies – pure indulgence. Overall, Henry's Kitchen totally nailed it with their food, vibes, and service. Definitely going back for more.

Oh my what has happened to this place? Used to be lovely food & welcoming service - used to be regular customers but not been due a long while. We popped by whilst on a walk really happy to find a table in the spring sunshine! It took about 10 minutes to get a waiter’s service. Everyone had left the other tables by the time we received any food - which finally arrived after about 20 mins for a simple sandwich - drinks didn’t appear at all. Notho g arrived. Went inside to politely ask where the drinks were…rather rude mid of the head and dismissive wave of the hand & very short reply “it’s coming in a Minute”!! Just quite rude. Drinks came but not what we actually ordered… Drinks were changed - no apology. Just wanted to leave - asked for bill. 15 mins later still waiting. Had to get up again and ask for the bill! …we were very close to just leaving at this point as fed up. Went into bar to pay. Paid but no acknowledgement not even a thank you or a smile either - not surprising at all as the waiter barely said two words throughout or smiled! Just grunted at us. Very disappointing experience & just can’t recommend to anyone any more - as has gone right downhill - thinking there must be new owners or staff. Used to be so lovely. Shame - but we’ll go elsewhere next time. Top tip - Must try harder to be welcoming to customers & clear the empty tables & maybe write orders down to avoid mistakes? Note no replies to disappointed customers! Says it all.

Very nice food and great service, special kudos for managing a very busy post-race crowd. Had a lovely vegan Mexican bean burger. Would come again if I'm in the area.

Very poor service and poor quality food. Arancini didn't taste like arancini should - added herbs that give them more of a middle eastern flavor, not great and mozzarella was non existant. Falafel over cooked , Bolognese was very watery, onion rings are frozen onion rings. Waited 15 minutes for water and had to ask two separate members of staff twice for it before finally getting it about 15 minutes later!! Similar experience requesting the bill...asked one member of staff, told yes will bring it, waited 15 mins, no bill...got up and asked another member of staff " yes, I'll bring it to you", ten minutes later still no bill!! Had to get up again and ask for the bill! I was very close to just leaving at this point! Paid and not even a thank you or smile - not surprising at this point as the waiter barely said two words throughout or smiled! Basically not worth a visit or your money.

Just had a lovely meal at Henry's, great real food, not pretentious just well cooked and very tasty, all for a good price

Me and my wife visited at 2:30pm on Sunday and sat outside. It took 5 minutes before someone appeared to take our order. He wasn’t very welcoming and in fact hardly said two words to us. We ordered one sandwich, a bottle of beer and a cappuccino. 20 minutes later the sandwich arrived and we had to flag the waiter down to ask about our drinks ‘they’re coming’ was the curt answer. My sandwich was just ok (falafel and tzatziki) bit bland could have done with maybe some onions, or sweet chilli sauce or something to add to the taste. 10 minutes later no sign of the drinks so my wife went inside to find out ‘we’re making them’ was the curt reply. Few minutes later they arrive. My wife’s cappuccino was milky and a latte, so we flagged the waiter down who was adamant it was a cappuccino as that’s what she ordered. After some back and forth he agreed to take it back. 5 minutes later she got a new one, still milky but by this stage we just wanted to pay and go. Won’t be visiting again. It’s a shame as it used to be great pre covid.

Have to change this review somewhat. Food remains nice, but service has considerably dropped. Very poor for allergies with no knowledge of ingredients or appreciation of an allergy outside of gluten. 8 yo with a peanut allergy, they have close to nothing that he could have, not even chips and for dessert everything may contain peanuts. Not worth the visit for anyone with any form of allergy as there are plenty of other great options so close by. Lovely breakfast/brunch/lunch food selection. Food is great, good selection of eggs with interesting twists. Would recommend 'Catherine's Breakfast' if you like fish, mustard sauce is yum! Can get busy so be prepared to wait or book ahead. Staff are always friendly and accommodating.

Very nice food and staff, unfortunately very uncomfy chairs as they are wooden and the metal side/back digs in if you have a bigger bum like I do. Also the music was very loud.

We visited in order to try some of the vegan options. I had the Mexican black bean burger and my partner had the Stroganoff. Both had mediocre flavour. The Stroganoff portion was too small. The fries/chips were good. Even if the food was amazing, I would still avoid this establishment in future, purely based on the fact that they try to greenwash & humanewash their image by claiming that they 'manage the social and environmental impacts of its operation and therefore make a 'huge' difference on issues such as climate change, animal welfare...' They talk about 'combating climate change by keeping our carbon footprint on the small side.', 'ethical and responsible sourcing' and 'sustainability' and a collection of other popular buzz-words including the most ridiculous 'Ethical meat and dairy'. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS ETHICAL 'MEAT' AND DAIRY. Enslaving sentient beings to be (ab)used as food is the opposite of ethical. You wouldn't want it done to you, so don't do it to them. Animal agriculture is the leading cause of species extinction, ocean dead zones, water pollution, habitat destruction, deforestation & human-wildlife conflict, and is one of the leading causes of our climate emergency. Claims about 'responsible / sustainable / organic / high-welfare / humane / regenerative' and so on, are completely empty and are aimed at helping people feel good about doing an inherently bad thing. You want to be truly sustainable, responsible and ethical? Stop using animals. Go plant-based, or, better yet, be vegan.

Nice little spot not far from the palace and with prices that felt reasonable. 2 burgers with drinks less than £40 total, which is good for a sit down meal these deals. Staff were very sweet. Food was good with decent portions. Drinks maybe could have come a little faster as it was not busy we were in. They can accommodate gluten free customers and there were lots of plant based options too. All in all a good solid lunch option.

We went to Hampton Court last Saturday, and we've decided to have something to eat at Henry's Kitchen. We were outside as we brought our dog... We ordered 2 sandwiches, 1 coffee and tea. The tea and coffee came in 2 minutes, but our sandwiches never came. So we decided to go inside and ask what was happening as we were the only customers seated outside. After apologies, we've been told that they were looking for us inside the restaurant, but no one went outside to check our table even after 30 min outside "enjoying" coffee and tea. Finally, our sandwiches came: one right and the other one totally wrong. I mean, a sandwich different than what it was ordered... someone came to apologize again and offer to do the right order in 2 min, which I refused, obviously. More apologies and bla bla bla... I was so disappointed and upset that I just asked for the bill to leave that place as soon as possible. They didn't charge us for anything, even when I said that I wasn't looking for anything for free. I just wanted to have my coffee and my sandwich, but it didn't work. I'm totally disappointed! Definitely, it's not a place that I would go back!

The breakfast was excellent and very nice ambience. The service was excellent and smiley faces serves you.

Had brunch and food was lovely, very busy. The waitresses are brilliant, shame about the manager / owner! So rude to his staff & don’t think disciplining your staff in front of customers is good practice. Surprised they didn’t walk off shift the way he spoke to them! wouldn’t go back.

Today I had the honor to eat the driest ever overcooked sea bass from Iceland. No dressing on the salad and gosh ready frozen fried Calamari. Maybe they didnt like us so they served us terrible meal. The service was very good.

Great food, friendly staff, nice place!

A very lovely place to dine, especially after a morning of exploring Hampton Court Palace. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. The food is good and the burgers are especially delicious. There seemed to be an excellent selection of cakes when I went, but alas, I did not have a large enough appetite to indulge... So save room.

Friendly service and really well priced!

Almost £50 for a couple and a toddler to have 2 salads, kid's chicken strips and chips and 3 drinks (non-alcoholic). If you're charging £15 for a salad, it should be more than a few leaves. Food wasn't awful, but nowhere near the quality and portion size you'd expect for the price. Mada next door is far better and much cheaper.

Unpleasant male manager, talks to you like you're a waste of air, charged us for an extra ice cream we didn't ask for and didn't receive either lol, the decor the food and the rest of the staff was nice though !

I visited Henry's kitchen for the first time today with family and it was very pleasant. The food was fantastic! I had the 'Henry's' burger which was absolutely delicious 😋 followed up by a little Victoria sponge cake which was also very tasty. The food was five star. The gentleman serving/assisting us however made us feel uncomfortable and bad for ordering what we wanted. When we asked for sauce and some vinegar for our chips he came back with just 1 packet of vinegar and one tiny pot of ketchup. There were 3 of us. Thankfully a lovely lady working there came over and gave us more upon realising we were all sharing one pot of tomato sauce and one vinegar. The man also got our drinks order wrong yet went to blame my mum when he came back to apologise. I would visit again as the food is so tasty 😋however the waiter on duty today did make us feel uncomfortable

Good ambience and service. We ordered the Henry's burger and the jacket potato. Small in portion, but overall good. We got the burger burnt, but they replaced it without any hesitation.

Staff never seem welcoming and almost think that you're lucky to be dining there. I keep trying but not sure I will go back. I ordered the macaroni cheese with mushrooms and truffle. Delicious but no truffle flavour or smell. I commented on this when my plate was taken away and the server checked with the chef. He said he had definitely put truffle in. I have had this dish before which was well flavoured with truffle. Highlight...the garlic bread. Best I have ever had!

There are many cafes to choose from along this road but Henry’s looked warm & inviting after a long walk along the river. The waiter offered a friendly welcome we were seated quickly. The decor is rustic reinforcing the locally sourced products ethos. The menu offered a lot of choice & combinations not normally seen on a breakfast menu. They were also very happy to alter any set breakfast to your personal preferences. The drinks were freshly made & served promptly although I did feel a bit sorry for the waiter as the restaurant got busier as he was by himself. The food was great, the sausages were meaty, the avocado creamy & the back was streaky. The only down side was that my toast was cold. Would I return? Definitely as there is so much more I want to try on the menu. It is a great spot reasonably priced.

Such a cozy typical British pub, the food was excellent, we had a tasty dinner and a delicious cocktail. The reason why i gave 3 stars to the service is because I found it kind of rude when the waitress asked us to bring the bill, like she couldn't wait to kick us out, as soon as we finished eating, even if most of the seats were empty...

We had a lovely late lunch today.. walking past and had a couple of empty tables outside..menus nice and varied and very reasonable prices...the staff were really friendly and we sat for a good hour and a half enjoying our food and drinks.. would definitely recommend this little place

Tried this for a second time simply because our favourite deli next door was closed: but again, did not enjoy it. Firstly, what was billed as "freshly squeezed orange juice" was not from freshly squeezed oranges but straight out of a bottle, in spite of the £3.45 price. Our sandwiches consisted of huge doorsteps of thick, dry bread with a the thinnest and meanest of fillings - a sort of BLT for my partner and a smear of cheese and two onions slivers for me. If you are going to serve doorsteps, you need a decent amount of filling to match, guys! Learn a lesson from the deli next door. Times might be hard and margins squeezed (unlike your orange juice.....) but this is not the time for imposing austerity and cost-cutting on your customers.

Very tasty well cooked burger, nicely caramelised. “All burgers served with chips in a brioche bun with lettuce, tomato, red onion & coleslaw” I don’t often have a burger, so I was expecting the lettuce, tomato and red onion and coleslaw to be on the side, but it was inside the burger, so the quantity was much smaller than I was expecting. I think this is me learning what is normal. The chips were beautifully hot. All the food was well cooked, but I wasn’t very impressed with the brioche bun, it was a bit like a ordinary White bun with a glaze on the outside. But then I’m no expert on brioche buns. I would definitely have it again, but I would also order a salad. I think the chef needs to be congratulated in making a simple dish very tasty.

I had a very nice flat white here, kitchen wasn't open the morning I went in so can't comment on the food. Quite dark inside, man serving was pleasant enough but think they were having a stressful morning.

We ate here in the late afternoon. We had two lovely coffees. However, our scones were served with a fork and nothing else. We had to ask for a knife along with the butter and jam. I was surprised to have only one butter and one jam between two of us. We were then charged 45p for butter and 50p for jam. I found this disappointing. I felt like we were an inconvenience to the waiter. The scone itself was really delicious it’s a shame really that it wasn’t the experience it could have been.

I've had some good breakfasts here, but this is not always the case. There is plenty of choice. However, quality is not always consistent. Recently, they have started adding a service charge on the price even for two people. Don't think I'll be going back there is a lot of choice at hampton court and this is not the best place.

Arrived at lunch time . Told to wait as a group . 2 waiters looked like father & son . Both stressed & grumpy looking . We sat down & waited again for any service . Meantime they rushed around . We eventually ordered some average food arrived . The shop was actually the best thing we had . The burgers were ok . We asked for the bill 3 times . They looked so annoyed when anyone came in . It was borderline comic . We left thinking that was a mistake never again . Clearly no staff , stressed & unwelcoming

Excellent food, really struggled to find anywhere to eat with my family when event on in the area. My wife needed gluten free options as celiac. Wife went in to ask and they say only a few options, gluten free bread and rolls to swap out on the dishes. This is not a few options it is great compared to lots of other places as it gave an option for most things on the menu. Food was amazing looked really good and tasted really nice. The staff were friendly enough and very helpful. Only thing to mention was the waiter seemed very rushed and always wanting to tidy up quickly like they were shutting up for the night and walked away while I was still ordering. Genuinely don't think he was trying to be rude just think needs to work on service skills a bit. Still had a great time.

Popped in for coffee and cake. Very disappointed coffee was not very hot and victoria sponge cake was very hard like stale and fake cream in the middle. Spoke to waiter who was very apologetic and said they keep the cakes in the fridge. At £4.50 a slice you would expect the cake to be fresh and fresh cream.

Had a late lunch after Hampton Court Palace visit and the food was just OK. The service was friendly and the food very ordinary. Won’t return.

I was visiting for 6 weeks and spent a lot of time here. Great coffee, service, and food. I went several Thursdays for their open mic night. I was very surprised at how talented all of the musicians were. It was never a dull moment. I also liked being able to sit in their outdoor seating and drink a late while I watched the foot traffic on Bridge Rd.

Thank you for hosting a table for nine 13 year olds, and us beside them! Fab food and amazing, friendly service. A fun time was had by us all!

Pleasant staff and quickish service although the place resembled a staff social club rather than front of house customer space. Food was “OK” but nothing to shout about. Bill was quite high for what you got although it might be cheap as chips for London. They have a cocktail menu but are not very good at making them.
