We had a superb evening meal at Henry's. The food was excellent, the staff were superb and the overall experience was very enjoyable. We had a youngster with us and he, too, was well catered for. Between us we had 3 starters, 4 different main courses and two desserts - all exceptional. Only small downside was the reande of drinks was somewhat limited

Fantastic dining experience. The staff were extremely friendly and very attentive. The food was phenomenal and it was VERY dog friendly sitting in the lovely pod area where you could play your own music and it was heated. Fantastic experience. We have been recommending to friends and family and will be back!

Wide selection of fish and shellfish. Seafood plater is amazing. Lamb shank and duck both perfectly cooked and well presented. We had the three most expensive things on the menu but didn’t grudge any of it. Generally good value for the type and quality of the food offered. Service a wee bit slow but not to the extent you would complain. Coffee was decent.

Whilst holidaying in the area we chose Henry’s to celebrate our wedding anniversary from the great reviews it has received. Those reviews were spot on and we cannot praise the food and the staff enough. Everything was amazing. We were offered one of the pods in the grounds (with heating and music) and it was really special. The chef had even decorated our sweet course in chocolate (see photo). We couldn’t recommend this place enough.

We had a beautiful meal to celebrate our son’s 18th Birthday. The food was first class and the staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Thank you for helping to make Fin’s birthday so special.

always a pleasure to eat at Henry's - wish we could do it more often - the food especially the seafood and fish specials are just the best - and the staff kind and attentive (tho on this occasion one of the younger waiting staff maybe had a few training needs) - we'll be back when we can

We had hoped to book here for two evening meals but dogs are not allowed inside the restaurant. They have two outside 'pods', presumably for smokers, but they were already taken for both nights and not quite what we wanted for a cold September evening. I appreciate not everyone wants dogs inside but with so many people on holiday with their pets these days I am surprised they could not offer some area of the restaurant, away from other tables. Other eating places are moving with the times.

I cannot find one element of this restaurant I couldn’t give 5 stars for!!!! We we’re craving Sunday lunch my husband had the Whitebait and I never seen larger fish I went for the parfait and Melba toast just perfect. Main course the beef and Yorkshire pud with perfectly cooked veg. I cannot tell you the last time I had a sweet but could not resist the carrot cake and ice cream sheer heaven all while we’re sat in a beautifully ventilated Dome overlooking Loch Ryan- can’t wait to return.

If there is a better place than this in Scotland I've yet to find it. And if there are better chips on this Earth I've yet to find them. Great service too. Got in just before last orders at 8. Scallops starter to die for followed by steak and aforementioned chips made with locally sourced spuds. Great location overlooking the bay. Wish I had room for dessert but there's always next time!

Ate here during a quick stopover in Stranraer. Very enjoyable with very friendly and helpful staff. Food reasonably priced (I had a Sunday lunch).

Visited Henry’s for Sunday Lunch. Nice selection of food and offered a menu a little different than usual ‘roast’ options. Pleasant surroundings and had room to breathe between tables. Lovely food, well prepared and presented. Reasonably priced so for 2 mains, desserts and coffee was £47. Staff were friendly and attentive.

This has to be one of my favourite dining experiences. My partner and I were visiting Stranraer for the first time in ages and asked a local for recommendations on where to dine. Whilst Henry's wasn't mentioned, we saw it as we arrived in the town and liked the variety of the menu and the location. On enquiring about booking, (on a busy Saturday night), we were met by the owner who was extremely courteous and welcoming and accommodated us at a time mutually acceptable to us both. We were warmly greeted on arrival and the team, (described as so, because that's what they are?), attended to us immediately. The menu is varied and inspired and includes a number of fish dishes and daily specials. I chose the seafood pancake whilst my partner opted for the daily special of hake risotto - both were superb, loaded with seafood cooked to perfection and accompanied by side dishes of vegetables and home made chips. We were very pleased with our choices, the care and attention from the staff, the ambiance of the venue and the value for money. What more can I say?

My wife Leigh and I were there when Joanne B's party left on Friday night. We asked to be moved the minute we were shown to our table nearby when the obviously distressed baby was crying. The boss lady was, in my view, diplomatic and polite but to no avail..... Anyway: The food was spot on, as was the service and we'll definitely be back next time we're headed for the ferry. Don't read too much into the previous review... Read the many, many 5 star reviews. They're by far the better measure of this restaurant.

Senational food and impeccable service from Stuart and Fiona as always. Al covid-19 measurements are consistently enforced whilst still managing to keep a pleasant atmosphere and giving an all-round enjoyable experience. The number one place to eat in the area, second to none.

Visited Henrys Bay House Restaurant for lunch during this Covid crisis. Very happy to see strict social distancing in place, staff all masked, perspex screening separating tables and all set 2m apart. Well done to owners and staff adhering to social distancing and test & trace procedures. Onto the food. In a word. Excellent. Very tasty and fantastic prices at two courses for £15 and three courses for £18. I had the Risotto with Smoked Haddock. My partner got the Seafood Pancake. A defo recommendation should you visit. Loaded with scallops, mussels, salmon & haddock. Truly delicious. How the chef does this for the huge portions you get I’m amazed. Very good value for money and excellent produce, we could not fault the meal and would definitely recommend. We have already booked again for Sunday dinner.

Saturday 29/08/2020. 3 adults and one minor booked here for dinner, The place is like a Tesco cafe only not as decorative.The 3 main meals ,2 off Linguine -a bowl of sugary sweet pasta sprinkled with what looked like a cat food pouch of something that did not resemble or taste anything like crab, totally inedible. One steak, looked very nice ,but was tough cut of meat that had not been rested ,so blood running all over the plate.The chips were good, that is all that I ate .The drinks are well overpriced £6.10 for a pint of lager ? Probably the worst meal that I have been served in many a long year .AVOID THIS RIP OFF EXCUSE FOR A RESTAURANT.

Despite the current difficulties, staff wonderful and friendly, view amazing, food was really good, steak cooked to perfection and the brandy pepper sauce was among the best I have had. Daughter loved her Scampi and Chips and dessert was great.Will be bsck before hols are over - if we can get in!!!

Had lunch there. Food was fine, but expensive for what it was - for example the seafood paella is not paella (it’s risotto rice and claggy rather than smooth and creamy as a paella should be, also no evidence of being cooked in saffron).The seafood pancake was very good and very generous with the seafood.

My husband Alan McKie and I went for a meal at Henry's bayhouse on Saturday the 25th July. I had duck and Alan had steak. My duck was absolutely first class, the flavours were amazing! Alan enjoyed his steak too. Highly recommended. Please try the Duck!
