We''ve been visiting North Yorkshire for holidays for over 15 years, and have finally decided to move to the area. Looking to have Sunday lunch somewhere not too far away, a quick Google brought up several places nearby including this restaurant, which is on a holiday lodge park. We were a bit hesitant, pre-judging what we thought it might be like being on a holiday park. I'm glad to say, we still booked a table, and so pleased we did.The park is now under new ownership and the restaurant fully refurbished and renamed and is actually now called Falls End and is tastefully decorated and furnished in a contemporary style. We were made so welcome and treated almost like friends we'd known for ages by manager Nick and waitresses Jess, Georgia and Danielle. That's why we've moved to Yorkshire!! Sunday lunch was beautifully presented and good value too. We would definitely recommend it.

Me and my girlfriend went here for a evening meal. We live half a mile from this place and thought we would give it a go since it has been taken over and done up.The staff were friendly and the service was quick. The food was good and the waiter called Daniel looked after us really well. They have done the restaurant out really well and to a high standard. Over all I was very pleased with my experience at Hendersons.Quick tip, take some cash with you to tip the staff as you cannot tip when you pay on your card.

We were staying in one of the Westholme Estate Lodges & came in here for our tea most nights because the food was fantastic! The value for money was superb & the fact that you could book a dining room & take your dog in was brilliant. The staff were what made this place so great, Debby, Carly & Baz were great fun & made us feel like we were at home. We can’t wait to come back once it’s all refurbished. Thank you for making our holiday so great.

Had a four night stay at the westholme estate and went to Henderson's twice and each time my wife and I enjoyed our meals and we chose different on the two nights, I am disabled and was impressed with the amount of room to move about and the kind and friendly approach of all staff, the food was fresh, veg was as I like it, chips amazing, wild rice scrumptious, various meats very tender and tasty, big portions, ice cream cornets delectable and overall excellent value for money, Thatcher's cider the nectar to have with you meals, did not have starters but what I seen of them they looked fantastic same with the desserts and the only reason I did not try them was I am on a diet, will definitely be back to stay at the log cabins and would have no hesitation in going to Henderson's every night for our tea, the menu is limited to about 15 main meals but choice is very good and a mix for anyone, my thanks to the excellent caring people who run this beautiful tranquil holiday park and please keep up the good work.......see you again soon.

No me impresionó, no volvería.

We have just returned from our stay at the estate & just had one meal, Sunday lunch, at Henderson's. We were with our 2 year old & our dog & had been out on a long, wet walk. Shattered & hungry, we were met most politely, given a table without hesitation, (though I acknowledge that actually they were pretty much completely booked). We were sat in the 'dog friendly room', so wouldn't disturb anyone, though our Labrador is very well behaved. This worked perfectly for us... Harry could get toys from the kiddie corner, bring them back to our 'private dining room' & we weren't interrupted. The food was lovely!!! Massive portions... I was fit to burst & unfortunately none of us could manage desert (although our 2 year old had a great stab at the complimentary ice cream!!!). All of the staff were so friendly & accommodating & as we'd visited the day before for a quick drink after a previous wet walk, we were comfortable that we weren't causing any disturbance. It's very rare to find a place that is not only child & dog friendly, but also spotlessly clean, with good food & wonderful staff, to boot!!! Can't wait for our next visit to the estate!!!

Food ok, went for three course special for £15.95 advertised on website only to find they stopped this about 4mths ago with mains approx £11-£15. Meal was ok but nothing special and a little overpriced in my opinion.we were served camembert 6 weeks out of date and were panicking when we noticed but the waitress response was I'm sure its ok, she then confirmed it had been frozen and defrosted so we suggested in future the date was removed when it was served as it really put us off. Restaurant/Bar was run down, hand dryer in ladies broke, so once on, it can be heard constantly whilst your eating and no one turned it off until I did. Sat on sofa and springs stuck up.Could be a lovely restaurant,it was on our previous visit when it first opened but place and staff need a litte tlc to make me want to go again

There was a good choice of food on the menu. The portions are a good size and nice and hot at a reasonable price. I couldn't eat here every night but nice for a treat. Food is served every day except Tuesdays so you might want to plan this around your stay. Would have been nice if they did take out for people to eat in their cabins. For those travelling with children there is a children's menu. The bar area welcomes dogs so you can enjoy a beer with your furbaby.

Overall, we had a pleasant experience thought it wasn't a particularly memorable meal. Giving them 3 dots in part because quite a number of things on the menu weren't available at 6:30pm, including the fish of the day, fish pie, fish & chips and a couple of other things at such an early dinner hour on a Wednesday when the restaurant wasn't yet 1/2 full. The roasted salmon was perfectly done, on top of tasty saffron potatoes and a cream & leek sauce. Veggies were served on the side, steamed carrots, broccoli and cauliflower. My husband had the steak -- it was good, but not noteworthy. The servers were attentive and charming, but not terribly knowledgeable about the menu (not having tried what was being served). It would be nice if the owners/managers/chef would allow staff to taste what they're serving so they could make informed recommendations. We'd rate it overall as "good".

Visited due to us staying on site for a long weekend.Met the chef Saturday who talked us through the main course we'd eyed. Prawns and Mussels. Not too pricey and despite me asking chef add a little " extra garlic " the dish came as per the menu. We were seated in a side room as we had our beloved dog. This was the " norm " we were told with all pet owners but when we ventured back into the main resturant later there were dogs aplenty. Still - the side room offered privacy and allowed my wife and I to talk as a couple and without interuption. Staff were attentive and the meal was great. Sunday lunch - again served in the side room - was excellent.Met the boss ( he likes his horse racing ) and he's a little cold to start pff with but when you get to talk to him he's ok. He served us ice-creams Sunday and the more you talked to him the warmer he became. Guess it's difficult with many stranbge faces comning and going.Over all - the beer was well kept. Bar staff were good company. Special mention Tracey - thanks for sorting the bubble bath out. And for being very friendly.Would we go again - the resort we stayed at, the food, the drinks. Yes. And, if you live close by, go try the Sunday lunch. Nice roast potaties Chef !!!

We came for a meal here as we were staying in one of the lodges. After going to the bar they did the old "ooo hmmm let me see if we can fit you in" whilst you look around at an empty restaurant.... We were shown to our table and we ordered. The menu wasn't extensive and it was quite posh 'trying too hard' food. My partner and I both commented on how we thought they were trying to be a posh restaurant when all they really needed was to serve good pub food. I had the belly pork with black pudding mash and it was beautiful. Best pork I have ever had. My partner had the beef burger and it came with the best chips he has had in ages. It was a little pricey, hence the 4* not 5 but it was nice. As we were paying the seafood platter was making its way to a table and it looked absolutely fantastic!! Massive prawns and a mound of mussels. If we stayed at the lodges again we would eat here. Negatives - - there was a bucket collecting drips from the roof (for a restaurant trying to be posh this is a no no) - Bar closed at 10.30pm

I read some of the other reviews and wondered if I'd visited somewhere else based on my own experiences. We visited twice during our stay at Westholme Lodges, the bar staff were always friendly and helpful (girlfriend has a gluten intolerance and they were able to advise on which meals were okay) and we were so impressed with someone else's dessert on the first visit that we stayed for one ourselves. And on the second visit too.Tables can be booked but this is done in time slots, presumably so as not to overload the kitchen.Just one important point to note - there is no food served on a Tuesday (presumably this is the chef's only day off in the week!). The food was terrible so the experience was saved only by pleasant enough decor and helpful, courteous waiting staff.Having seen a goat's cheese and beetroot burger offered I ordered. What came bore no resemblance to the description in the menu board. It contained no goat's cheese, no beetroot and was clearly a very cheap and nasty bought in veggie burger made of reconstituted veg and frozen. The waiting staff apologised and removed it and I was offered an alternative order but vegetarian options were limited so I ended up with a cheese board. While the portions of cheese were generous it was served with limp celery, no fruit and not great chutney. My husband's gammon was entirely average and drinks were on the expensive side.

A couple of pints really whets the appetite! The menu has something for every palate - Meat, poultry, fish and vegetarian. The food is all cooked to order, so a wait is inevitable, but this is acceptable for such well prepared dishes. We had the soup of the day, Mulligatawny, and I have never tasted a soup as delicious, as you can see from my picture! For the main, I chose salmon, hubby had the chicken. Again, clean plates. Portion sizes were just about right, we were not over - full, there was room for a glass of wine each, and ice cream for me!We are about to return to Westholme Estate, staying in one of the lodges, and fully intend to visit Hendersons Bar, this time we are going to try the lunchtime menu.I would recommend this restaurant to all.

We stayed in a lodge on the site while we went walking around the Dales, it was soooo good to get back after a tiring day to a large glass of white and pint of ale, the bar itself was extremely cosy with sofas etc to relax on. We ate here once, the portions were huge which made leaving some extremely hard as the food was delicious. (Watch out for the visiting on site goat, he enjoys a good munch on the bushes outside the bar- highly amusing!!)

We ate here during our stay at the lodges on site. We had book the table the day before as the restaurant look quite small. On arrival we had a drink in the bar and enjoyed the warm and cosy feel to the place. We were lead to our table after 15 minutes, a more than acceptable time to enjoy our drink. We opted for soup starter and gold old fish and chips. The soup was beautiful and very tasty. The fish and chips was excellent and presented in a very stylish way.The staff in the bar and restaurant were very friendly and very helpful.Look forward to visiting again next time we are in the area.

This restaurant is tucked away on a caravan site just outside Aysgarth and we had been meaning to try it for some time. It's intimate and cosy with excellent decor and warm and friendly staff. Food was very good and was fairly traditional although there was a Rogan Lamb Shank on the specials board when we were there. 2 starters, 3 mains and 2 desserts with 4 beers and 2 glasses of wine came to £95 for three of us. Good value and great service. Highly recommended.A splendid woodland location adds to the experience and there is outdoor seating.

My family were taken here by our parents for dinner and the food was really goodMy wife and I wouldn't have considered this restaurant as it's on a holiday park, but it would have been our loss. The rack of lamb and was beautiful, really tender, full of favour and the mustard crust was lovely. Everyone else was happy with their meal as well.

When we arrived at this onsite restaurant we didn't expect much, was thinking 70s caravan park style but how wrong could we be. Modern, welcoming with a roaring fire and good quality furnishings. The menu had many options and again, quite upmarket. We couldn't fault our meal and we even had a conversation with the chef during our stay who was passionate about his food.Well worth a visit.

There are some comments on here which might seem negative, but as of late February 2012 this is how we found Hendersons.Booking for Dinner was easy and very helpful staff ensured that we were accommodated as near to our requested time as possible (within 15 minutes). Welcome on the evening was low key but very warm and friendly and our orders were taken promptly. The bar and dining area was warm and comfortable (a real fire added to the central heating to give extra ambience). Food was promptly served and was (for us) enormous! If you are getting to the stage where a three course meal can sometimes be too much and a two course evening is more normal then beware - we never got to the second part!. We tried the local herb-encrusted Lamb which was superb and almost overpowering but somehow both managed to sort out the Lamb, but the accompanying vegetables as part of the dish were sadly neglected - no fault of theirs, but no space was available to devour them. A nice cool Rose Wine helped and as the meal wore on the provision of Ice was (yes I know not the 'in' thing in some areas}readilt available and served without any of the often strange comments... In all for just under £50 for the two of us it lasted almost 90 minutes and we were glad we had brought up the car to drive back to our Lodge. Just a word of advice for the Winter clients - the area is not very well adorned with street lighting and we only took the car to be able to see where we were going. Had we been warned to take a good torch, the walk was short and no problem. Nice atmosphere in the bar area with other guests and as of February I would say any of the criticisms registered here have been well and truly addressed. Next time we will take the rest of the family for a long weekend and be definitely dining in Hendersons.

Called in for a meal whilst passing, and we both ordered different dishes, both beef based dishes were well presented but the meat was not the best I have tried,as an ex publican I have had beef from all over the world but this seemed like a cheap option rather than quality, apparently its sourced from a local supplier,if its true they need to change supplier before the customers dissapear.

We visited Hendersons Bistro last weekend for my dad's birthday and it was wonderful. The service was great, really friendly staff and the food was outstanding - as was the delicious red wine. The quality of food was definitely on a par with a 4 or 5* star restaurant - I had seabass and it was so flavoursome and perfectly cooked. We had a really lovely evening and would go back in a second - not at all what you might expect for a caravan park but definitely the standard and quality that other sites in the UK should aspire to be like.

Went to this restaurant following a recommendation. We were very surprised to find a restaurant that offered the level of dining that Hendersons Bistro offered in such a tucked away location. We very very impressed with the level of service and staff, the food was magnificent and really made our weekend away. The food was easily on a par with the Wenselydale Heifer (visted the night before) but a lot more reasonable.

While visiting friends in the dales we were taken to Hendersons for dinner. It was a revalation. The last time that we were in the dales we went to the Wensleydale Heifer on their reccommendation but we were left disappointed and hoped that this wouldnt be in a similar vein. When we went in we were met by a smiling young lady who asked us for drinks and whether we were booked in, which we were. After recieving our drinks we were presented with the menu which was quite concise; 6 starters & 6 Mains plus a selection of specials which I understand change daily. I decided to order the slow roast belly pork & scallops with crushed peas for a starter and ribeye steak with bone marrow. When we had ordered I was pleasantly surprised to recieve a complementary selection of bread, olives, balsamic and oil. I thought that this was a great idea, it kept the four of us entertained while we chatted over a drink. We were then asked to be taken to the table where we were seated. The restaurant is situated behind a large decorative fireplace which is the centrepiece of the restaurant. It was warm and modern and quite comfortable for the 4 of us. My starter came and was beautifully presented, on a rectangular plate, it was delicious the scallops were perfectly cooked and acted as a perfect foil for the belly pork, had I not been in company i would have quite probably licked the plate! When my main course came it was presented on a large round plate with a delightful garnish of parsley and cooked red onion and a chunk of bone marrow with a teaspoon standing in it. The steak was wonderful, fantastically tender, cooked superbly and accompanied by a generous bowl of homemade chips. Sensational! I asked my friends why they didnt send us here last time we stayed in the dales, but apparently they hadnt realised it was here until a friend of theirs reccomended the place. For my dessert there was a selection of cheeses that was too much to resist. About 20 to choose from and all accompanied with a tasting notes to make it easier or quite possibly harder to decide! I had 4 cheeses; Manchego, Wensleydale, Yorkshire Blue and Dolcelate. These were attractively presented with an artfully sliced apple, homemade chutney, water biscuits and butter. A pleasant end to a lovely meal. It cost us around £160 for four of us including drinks. Which seemed to me good value. Next time I am in the dales I will make sure to visit Hendersons again. Sensational, and for me should definately be busier than it is. A hidden gem.

Hendersons is a really relaxed and friendly place to eat. Having sampled the other restraurants in the area, all of which have been good, Hendersons definately has the edge. The surroundings are great and the staff are very knowledgable about the food they are cooking and serving. Having eaten at some really good restraunts around the world, the Crispy Wild Boar Belly and Scallops is one of the nicest things I have ever tasted and would make the 300 mile trip to sample that again. Mandy who runs the front of house is a real star and the chef Gavin clearly has a real passion for food. The seafood is to die for and has to be said is slightly better than the Wensleydale Heiffer which is famous for its seafood. There is an early bird menu which at £19 for 3 courses is excellent value for money even considering they put a lot of items from the main menu onto it.Would I recommend Hendersons. Without a second thought. And I will be going back.

Popped into the Town Hall for a drink and received fantastic service from walking in to walking out. Very good NZ Sav Blanc at a great price per bottle and excellent food, a varied veggie selection too, which is unusual for most of the other pubs in the town. would highly recommend !!

The Bay Tree Cafe and Bistrolocation-iconMain StreetBritish

Was really pleased we chose the baytree kitchens. My husband had the seafood chowder I had the ploughman's both off the specials menu. My husbands chowder was full of seafood and fish with fresh bread it was only £10. He didn't want it to end. My ploughman's was really good quality ham and cheese with fresh bread that was only £9. The drinks are really reasonable as well If we lived nearer we would be regulars here All the food tha was coming out you could tell it was freshly prepared.
