What a gem of a place. After a rather wet walk I wanted a cuppa and slice of cake. Large selection of HOMEMADE cakes, scones etc...hot and cold food. They even open into the evening with another menu. Definitely a return visit to sample more of the delights on the menu. Thoroughly recommend a visit when visitingGlenridding....dog friendly too.

Great soup, smashing flavours. Also recommend 5 bean chilli with lots of added vegetables. Good selection of food and drinks. Throws and towels are a brilliant idea. Reasonable price for good home cooked food. Ignore the moaners who can't afford more than a pound for a coffee (bring your own flask if you're that tight) But ultimately it was excellent service and such pleasant people working here. Definitely be back

I visited with a friend for an evening dinner whilst on a weekend walking holiday. The food was delicious, price was very reasonable (we had the 3 courses including wine for 2 for £70) and the staff could not be more lovely. I will definitely come back next time I am visiting the area.

Ordered a cheese scone & fruit scone w/butter no cream & jam but same price & over £4 each, extortionate prices, used to go quite a lot but not anymore, coffee over £3, how many coffees must they get out of their catering bags. It’s unbelievable. Unhappy customer.

Love this cafe which serves fantastic breakfasts and lunches but at night pulls out all the stops and becomes a sensational fine dining restaurant offering a good choice of meals. Exceptional coffee too with a great choice and choice of milks. Always worth a visit if were in the area.

Called in for coffee and cakes before heading over to Ambleside and we were completely blown away with the quality of the food and the service that we received. Their Bakewell Slice has got to be one of the best cakes that Ive ever tasted. Well done to the management and staff for looking after us.

Super friendly and efficiently. The Fish and Chips went down a treat! Why only four stars? The ambience felt a bit in need of some warmth … otherwise, fully recommend this place after a hike along Ullswater or any water activity.

Stumbled across this coffee shop/cafe/restaurant/bistro whilst looking for food options on a wet Saturday evening in August. We’d booked however the staff were very accommodating for walk ins where possible. We ate from the bistro menu & took advantage of the the x2 3 course menu plus bottle of house wine for £70. Wow!! Not expecting food this good at this price in the area. Food exceptionally prepared & presented. Staff were very polite & attentive. Would definitely visit again

Abby & James provided all the food for my special birthday party, from not the standard snacks on the boat to the amazing pie & pea supper, where the queue for seconds was as long as for firsts! They couldn't have been more adaptable, their staff more courteous, their whole delivery more professional. I can't rate they more highly and will definitely use them again. Just had a lovely lunch here. The jacket potato was big and very tasty. My hubby had the special of Lasagne with salad and garlic bread, again a large portion. We then had cake, apple crumble cake was lovely but so full had to take baked cheesecake with us. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The prices are comparable (and cheaper) than other places in the area. Would definitely come back.

Had a great meal here. There were 35 of us so we had pre-ordered - the staff were really well organised for dealing with such a large group, everything came out quickly and was fresh and nicely presented. With so many of us, we sampled a lot of the menu and the food was all good, including the gluten-free and vegan options. I especially recommend the chips! The staff were all lovely and friendly. I would highly recommend stopping in here if you're in Glenridding.

Great little place right at the foot of helvellyn. Coffee was top notch, the wife had chilli chocolate which was lovely. For lunch I had Cajun chicken jacket potato. I asked for extra chicken and there was loads extra for a small charge (£1). The salad and slaw with it was great and very fresh. The soup and sandwiches were excellent too. I was most impressed by the two young members of staff there who were very attentive. COVID rules are in place and are strict but easy to follow. Was a very well ran cafe. Cakes are great too!

Pasamos un fin de semana agradable y relajante en Glenridding y fuimos al Country Kitchen para desayunar y bollos más tarde en la tarde. Una experiencia magnífica en tiempos muy difíciles para ellos. La cocina campestre está limpia, de hecho impecable, con atención a la limpieza y los detalles alrededor. El personal que vimos eran adolescentes y adultos jóvenes bastante jóvenes, pero eran excelentes, muy amables, sabían exactamente lo que estaban haciendo, te servían con prontitud, la comida estaba caliente y sería muy difícil quejarse de cualquier cosa. la comida que se estaba presentando desde la cocina se veía muy bien y el personal de la cocina era tan agradable y atento como el frente de la casa. Una gran experiencia y un gran lugar para visitar, espero que el propietario lea esta reseña y si lo hace su local está en muy buenas manos.

We stopped here for brunch. The full English breakfast was delicious with lots of fresh ingredients. Good COVID safety measures are also in place. The restaurant was open when we went on Saturday 26/09 so the details on the Tripadvisor listing are incorrect.

We came to this cafe a year ago and we were impressed by the food and service, roll on 12 months and this place was the obvious choice. Another great experience (even during Covid) the food choice isn’t massive but there’s something for most people. The size of the portions is more than you expect and the food is fantastic. Well presented and friendly service to boot - would only choose this place to eat when visiting Glenridding

Came here after getting steamer back from Aira Force, had intended to have a light snack at National Trust tearooms over near the waterfall, but was disappointed with what they had to offer (review left) so had this cafe in mind anyway and was lucky enough to get a table for 2 outside on a lovely sunny afternoon. Had coffee and a cake and served by an incredibly happy and cheerful young lady (Tuesday 15th September) who was obviously rushed off her feet as cafe was very busy but still had a smile and a chat with everyone. Great spot to stop - highly recommend

We'd had a walk up to Red Tarn and back, and spotted this place as we came back into the village. We sat outside with our dog, enjoying lunch in the late summer sun. Service was professional and friendly, and both the drinks and food came out promptly. We both had paninis and were very happy with them.Covid care seemed to have been well done, with plenty of precautions and clear instructions on every table. We would certainly recommend, and would revisit when back in the area.

Called in for a cuppa and cake. Probably the biggest teapot we’ve ever had, big jug of milk so as many cuppas as you could manage. And we shared a piece of chocolate crunchie which was superb and more than enough. Prompt friendly service.

Stopped for some food after a 7hr hike and was not disappointed. Lovely staff, fast service and brilliant food. The white chocolate mocha is incredible, and all the food we got was perfect. Very well spaced and inline with covid restrictions. Will be visiting again

Stoped in here with my partner for a hot drink and a cake. My partner is lactose intolerant and they had a choice of almond or soya milk so he could pick any of the hot drinks on the menu. The cakes were simply delicious and superb value for money! I must admit we both had serious food envy as the cooked breakfast looked very tasty. Would happily come here again. Good covid measures.

Bought some sandwiches first thing before making our way up Helvellyn. They were great value and extremely tasty, so good in fact we went back the next day to get some more for our journey home.

We visited just before climbing Hellvelyn for a sandwich to have at the top but the young girl was very unhelpful. We were very polite and asked the best way to go but she laughed at us and said “there are many ways to go” in a very sarcastic manner before departing to the kitchen after laughing at us and pulling faces as if we were a pair of idiots. Also the sandwich was S-H-I-T and we made it up to Hellvelyn and back

Great food, staff very friendly and managing the current situation really well. Stayed at a local hotel and food was very poor so used this during our stay. Home cooked and great quality all at a reasonable price. Definitely worth a visit!

Having had a poor sleep we wanted a good breakfast so squelched over the road (very heavy rain) and found this beautiful gem. The coffee was VERY god (nice and strong btu balanced), the bacon sandwich was excelent with solid bread not the flimsy stuff that adds no flavour to the sandiwch, this was the real deal. The cakes? Well, I boguht two on sight we had them much later......they are recommended. Bueno cake bar as good as that was surprisingly got beaten by the almond slice which my wife described as 'divine'. The cafe is not unreasonable with prices either so this was a hidden gem!

We came here for breakfast as we were staying in the village. It has to be one of the best Full English Breakfasts that I have ever had! The produce was second to none and it was cooked perfectly. The teas and coffees were also excellent and they had a very good choice of drinks. We even returned here for lunch and had a tuna sandwich and chips - again it was perfect! Would definitely recommend and hope to return very soon!

Starting and finishing point for our Helvelyn walk. Breakfast was excellent so we had to return for tea and cakes. With the 'Boris' discount it was amazing value. But it would have been great at their full price as it definitely wasn't overpriced.
