Amazing bakes extremely well presented, called back next day for more to take away wish it was closer to home in Bearsden. Coffee was very good as well

The lentil soup had a Syrian twist and was delicious, but the accompanying roll was very chewy, to say the least, and not to my liking.

Wonderful bowl of lentil soup and a lovely soft roll, served with a smile and great value for money. Went back after our cycle for a strawberry tart and a cappuccino. All delicious.

All their cakes are really nice and fluffy 😍 they aren’t too sweet which is good. I really liked the pistachio cake as that’s not something you can find anywhere and the pistachio taste was quite prominent. A refreshing change from the sweet dense desserts from normal bakeries

I went here for a Syrian breakfast and was really impressed, as someone who previously lived in the region and loves the food. It was excellent value and very tasty. This was a wonderful find and I would highly recommend it, not least as there are options for everyone. The decoration and atmosphere inside is very comfortable.

So good we ordered twice in one day! Kebab was so delicious we had one in the morning when we arrive d then again on the way back to the ferry. Would love to go back to try some of the cardamon tea and cakes.

When last visiting a friend in Rothesay, upon her return, my better half raved about the breakfast she'd had here. Our recent campervan trip meant the mutt was with us. Thus, with no dogs allowed, a takeaway lunch was the order of the day. Nevertheless, my chicken shawarma was simply D-E-L-I-C-O-U-S! A dog sitter is required for a full sit down meal experience.

What’s that? A Syrian breakfast on a wee island off the west mainland of Scotland? Surely not…! You couldn’t write it, but you can definitely eat it. Excellent meal from start to finish, topped off with superb service throughout.

Tried the Shawarma wrap, absolutely delish 😋 fabulous flavours but not nippy or hot. Had to have one of their superb cakes,top class and lovely coffee ☕ too, to top all this the service is excellent,you can't visit this beautiful Island without going to Helmis!!!!

Adorable little cafe with staff who are very welcoming and friendly. Clean and comfortable. The food we had was amazing. We highly recommend the Syrian breakfast, especially in this hot weather; light, delicious and healthy. Reasonably priced. Their cakes are also to die for if you're looking for a healthy treat. Do not skip this cafe!

You gotta try their pastries and cakes etc, they’re very very tasty! They don’t have all those five-star reviews for nothing!

Unmissable! The best cafe we visited during our 5 ferries adventure. Possibly the best cakes we have ever had! Excellent friendly service with a smile and high quality food. We ended up going back a second time, the day we were leaving, to get 5 cakes to take home with us as it was SO GOOD! A real asset to Rothesay. Thank you!

What a find! Such simple decoration and presentation but the food is fantastic. A real hidden gem. The chicken shawarma wrap is delicious, as is the breakfast platter. The cakes were an absolute delight too - full of flavour, light, moist... Wow. This place totally deserves its 4.9*.

Visited during a day trip after reading the favourable reviews. Had takeaway latte's and home made chocolate éclairs, magnificent. Prices are the cheapest you will find. Well done for offering takeaway during the current restrictions.

Had lentil soup, coronation chicken roll and carrot cake today. The soup had a slight curried taste which was actually so good and not overpowering. The coronation chicken roll by far was the best I've ever had and the carrot cake, although didnt look like carrot cake, tasted so nice and fresh! Thoroughly recommend this place

From the outside, it looks inviting. Regular trade to sit in and for takeaway. Cleaning, hand gel and details taken like most place. What I was surprised at was the prices. Very reasonable. I had a mocha, coronation chicken wrap that was so delicious. Couldn't resist takeaway cakes so carrot cake and passion and raspberry tart. Natalie was serving and even with a mask on was smiling all the time, could see it in her eyes and from her tone of voice. She was so lovely. I felt awful that I no cash for a tip. To the left of the ferry port, please give this place a try. Free parking outside.

Fantastic lunch! Himself had the hummus, salad & flatbread, I had the haloumi & chicken salad. Coffees followed with a passion fruit tart! Delish. Next time I’ll be having the Syrian breakfast. Treat yourself. Oh and cakes were bought to bring home!

Nice hot chocolate and chocolate cake with my son today, nice and tasty but not a really nice place, quite cheap surroundings.

The cake is amazing and the staff are helpful. Unfortunately it’s not dog friendly so had to do a takeaway.

What a find! Small Syrian owned patisserie, in Rothesay, (near the ferry port)Excellent coffee and beautiful light cakes. Soup on offer for lunch with a combo of wraps/rolls etc. Syrian breakfast running throughout a good part of the opening hours! Very welcoming owners.

Delicious food and friendly service.

Amazing coffee shop, the cakes were almost too pretty to eat! But eat them we did and they tasted fabulous too- the biggest surprise was the price! £2.50! Having looked through the door at the cakes I thought it would be unbelievably expensive and had we not been on holiday I might not have gone in! The coffee too was great and only £2.00. So much cheaper than all the chain coffee shops and so much nicer, service too was superb. Highly recommended!

Doing this thing is hard at the moment. Rothesay doesn't exactly feel welcoming under Covid-19, but this place was. Excellent fusion baking.

#storm Francis = v wet & windy day. So as a treat we bought a takeaway Syrian breakfast for lunch - what a treat , loved it ! The Dukka & houmous was a favourite and the best halva ever . Thanks Helmi you warmed up our day !

My late husband was Syrian and I love the food so I was determined to try this place on my holiday. They served us even though they normally finish earlier but we were making it our tea. We had lentil soup to start and then the full breakfast. Everything was just like it should be and such a reasonable price

First visit. Everything absolutely spotlessly clean. Attentive and friendly service was excellent. Coffee was superb. Carrot cake was to die for, we shared as it would have been too much for me.

Holidaying in Bute and looking or somewhere to grab a coffee we chanced on Helmis and popped in to have a look at the menu, all three of us went for ‘The Syrian Breakfast’ which was a real revelation - the young man who serve us went to great lengths to explain what we were eating and all the staff were charming and helpful - we will definitely be back in the coming weeks !!

I have visited Helmi’s on a regular basis since they opened.The cakes are beautiful and taste as good as they look.The rolls and wraps are amazing and the Syrian breakfast is a real treat. The staff are always smiling (even behind the masks) and are really polite and friendly.

We really enjoyed our three Syrian breakfasts, as well as excellent coffee and fresh orange juice. Great service, pleasant, safe surroundings, great location.

We'd read about this cafe/patisserie before our visit to Rothesay and were keen to try it. The interior of the cafe looks clean, bright and inviting. Unfortunately we were unable to sit inside because of limited space and social distancing restrictions. However, we were able to buy takeaway coffee and cakes. Everything was fresh, tasty and very good value. Overall highly recommended.

Very lovely cafe. Staffs are very polite, very friendly and very helpful. Very good quality vegan oat barista milk for delicious coffees. High quality costumer service. Nice vegan sandwiches, and good vegan hummus. Also cafe and toilet are super clean. Hope they will get more vegan options soon but they seam very open minded to do so.

Visited with my family and we loved it. Had the Helmi's breakfast platter which was delicious...see below! Children loved their nutella croissants. All very reasonably priced. The family who run it are very friendly and service is excellent. Would definitely recommend. Cakes look amazing!

We are so glad to have discovered this shop on the first day of our holiday! We will certainly be back! Carrot cake was amazing. So pleased to see such a lovely business arrive on the island.

We bought cakes to take away, ate them, enjoyed them and so returned a day or two later for a light lunch. Tasty food, beautifully presented and the place spotlessly clean. Oh, and very reasonable prices....what is there not to like!

Lovely place to start with. Clean bright and welcoming. First taste of Syrian coffee which was a revelation. Chicken shawarma wrap was brilliant. But the cakes - in my case hazelnut praline - were astonishingly good. Seriously if you are on Bute go there. If you are not, go to Bute to go there

i went a few weeks ago for a chicken wrap for lunch, it was excellent, i looked at the menu while waiting. i noticed Syrian breakfast, which i looked at on line. on my visit to the island today, Syrian breakfast was top of my agenda, i was not disappointed, each time I have visited the customer service has been excellent and always with a smile. if your on Bute have a wee bite at this cafe, you won't be dissapoined.

A special place given its history with Syrian refugees. Bakery and light lunches. The cakes look and taste superb and the light meals that we had we also excellent - different but that is a good thing!! Ver friendly and clearly popular!! Highly recommended for snacks and light lunches
