The Greek food here is the best,its a great place to celebrate any occasion or just have a meal for to with Authentic Greek music Playing in the background.

First visit, not our last! Warm, welcoming atmosphere, delicious food, big portions and reasonably priced. A wonderful birthday meal out, thank you 😊

We visited here for a birthday treat. We both had the mixed gyros and it was huge. I had to take half home. Another table also had too much food. It was hot and well presented. Lovely cosy place with background Greek music. When the member of staff realised it was my birthday I had a yummy slice of chocolate cake and candle which was very much appreciated. It made the occasion memorable. Thank you.

Fantastic food in a lovely restaurant. It's small, but from February 2024 to mid March they're renovating to increase capacity. We'll be revisiting when they reopen.

We called into Hellas Taverna on Friday 05.01.2024 and what a thoroughly enjoyable experience from start to finish A wonderful, friendly, Greek welcome from the lovely proprietor who worked her socks off taking orders, delivering food and generally keeping everyone happy with her wonderfully warm personality Nothing was rushed, just as it should be in Greece, and the food, when it arrived was piping hot and extremely tasty. After a couple of dips with copious amounts of pitta my wife enjoyed the Chicken Souvlaki and I had the absolutely gorgeous, melt in the mouth, Beef Stifado. We were absolutely stuffed after enjoying these courses but, of course, we found an extra corner to share a Baklava with ice cream, well it would be rude not to !! This is definitely a very authentic Greek restaurant, wonderful to hear Greek tunes on the sound system, the decor and atmosphere is spot on and the family who own/run the business are just lovely people We would absolutely recommend Hellas and will certainly be back again to try some more dishes

Great fresh Greek food. Would have been 5 stars but on the night we went they had no rice. 2 local supermarkets could have served in emergency. Good service, food very good.

A lovely restaurant. We booked it for 11 of us for my mother in law's birthday. They were very accommodating for her dietary requirements, which was very much appreciated. We had the meat banquet which was more than we could eat, so we all had take out for the following day. Good food, reasonably priced, with good service. We all enjoyed our food that night, & the following day.

Amazing meal - in fact one of the best meals I’ve had. We had chicken souvlaki, lamb kleftiko and mixed gyro. Highly recommended. Will definitely return next time we are at the airport.

On Monday evening June 26th, my sister, nephew and I were in Handforth and selected Hellas Taverna for dinner. We did not have a reservation and despite the number of diners a table was available for us. The whole experience was amazing and having travelled in Greece felt we could have been eating dinner in a good local taverna. There was music, appropriate decor and the food was of very high standard and generous portions. The wine list reflected a range of Greek or Cypriot white and red varietals, we enjoyed one from. Cyprus. The service again was good and personable and great care was given to my nephew’s renal diet. The meal in true style was the complimentary desert which was moist orange cake which was delicious. Thank you for excellent food and a most enjoyable evening.

Everything about our anniversary meal at Hellas was perfect. Lovely cosy restaurant with excellent service. Very friendly. Food was excellent and good portions. We had the lamb chops and chicken souvlaki. Gorgeous chips. Spanokopita and dolmades for starters. Half a karafe of wine and a couple of mythos. Not too expensive and gave us a little bit of Greece that we've been missing. We'll definitely be back.

We had to eat in a hurry. Great food, very prompt helpful service despite being very busy. I would strongly recommend you try it very generous portions.

Absolutely loved this place. An impromptu visit - welcomed warmly, served amazing melting lamb kleftiko, pillowy pittas, rich skordalia and a zingy fresh salad. Washed down with a couple of Mythos. Perfect. Then, next door to the little deli for some cakes to take home. The people of Handforth are lucky to have this family run gem of a restaurant. We will be travelling from Knutsford on a regular basis for a little piece of authentic Greece 🇬🇷🧡

The food was superb and is reason enough to seek out this restaurant and try everything on the menu. The salads and sharing starters were delicious. Refreshing, with real depth of flavour and texture. The mains - kleftiko and lamb chops. The kleftiko was divine. Succulent, tender and full of flavour. The jus was deep and rich in flavour and the vegetables melt in the mouth. Tha lamb chops are something else. There are two varieties to choose from. “English” or “Greek”. The English chops are fine. Normal size. Full of flavour and plenty of meat, but they are blown out of the water by the Greek chops. Small, from Much younger and much more tender milk fed lamb. The chops are small and delicate and are grilled to perfection. You get twice as many so the same amount of meat as if you order the English chops but you’ll never taste anything like it ever again - unless you come back for more! However no matter how great the food is it’s still not the best thing about this restaurant - the service is breathtaking. This is a family restaurant in the real sense of the word. Run by a family with love, care and passion but equally welcoming to families of all shapes and sizes. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners and they go out of their way to ensure that the usual stresses and worries that can come with dining with small children or children with additional needs simply don’t occur here. Thank you for a wonderful lunch. Our kids loved it and we will be back many more times

What a lovely Sunday afternoon. Decided to take my mum as a surprise for lunch and we were not disappointed. Ella and the team were so welcoming and attentive. We didn’t feel rushed at any point. The food, what more can I say than WOW! I felt like I’d walked in to a taverna is Greece. We will definitely be going back!

Visited Hellas on our way to the airport were we were staying overnight before an early flight the following morning & as the restaurant was only a 5 minute drive away we thought we’d give it a try.And what a good decision it was.Luckily I had booked prior to arriving as the restaurant was busy (it was a Thursday night).We had a selection of dips to start with fresh pittas which were delicious and then ordered Sea Bass & Chicken which were very much like the starters.I had a Mythos and some house red (drinkable but not great tbh) but on settling a very reasonably priced bill and heading off to the hotel by the airport,it was a brilliant start to our holiday and one that we’ll definitely repeat again in the future.

Food great but service not so good , drinks came late had to be reminded twice, and food took to long .I think they just had a bad night tonight maybe short staffed. I think having maybe one English staff in may have helped because it was hard work to order drinks and food because of translation problems

What a little gem this is. Made to feel very welcome right from walking through the door, the service was excellent, and the hostess took time to have a chat. Food was fantastic, fresh, and of good quality, all cooked to perfection. The place was like a little sllice of Greece, very quaint and nice touch with Greek music playing in the background. The portions were generous and we wish we could have eaten everything in one go but we can't wait to enjoy our leftovers at home tomorrow - we had the meat platter for 2! I booked Hellas Taverna for Easter Sunday via their Facebook page! Booking was very easy and the restaurant responded back quickly. There is a car park around the corner on School Road. My Grandparents lived in Corfu so Greek cuisine has always been a big part of our diet so to have such authentic food locally is wonderful. I ordered the calamari which was delicious, plenty of rings and tzatziki. I then had the stifado as the main with chips, it was absolutely amazing, the beef just melted apart! This is a must

Been meaning to go for ages..Just been for evening dinner with my family including 3 children. The meal was absolutely fantastic and loved sharing all the dishes between us. The staff really lovely. My boys want to go back again tomorrow!! Really tasty food. Really refreshing change to other restaurants in Wilmslow- lovely family run restaurant with no pretentiousness. Lovely place and food, we have been to Greece many times and know how it should be. The only grumble would be the bottles of Alpha were not fridged? Also an addition to the beer menu would be Fix and Mamos.

Great food both in terms of quantity and quality. Price is reasonable and the atmosphere is really enjoyable. My wife and I ordered the vegetarian Greek banquet for 2. We enjoyed every parts of the meal and were completely full at the end.

Ordered me and my son the mixed gyros and 2 cheesecakes. I'm not over exaggerating when I say they were the best gyros and cheesecake I've ever had. Very fresh meat, sauces - you can tell are all freshly homemade. I will 100% order again and would highly recommend.

We were looking for a casual bite to eat with my mother in law who is Greek Cypriot. The food is okay, but the value for money isn’t there. We had no alcohol, only soft drinks and tap water, and shared a starter of dips for two people - the bill was £90. The price of the small greek salad for £8.99 really is scandalous. I like casual eating b/c it usually is good value for money - but that was missing here.

dined on a Sunday, not busy,had haloumi with salad to start, which was very nice, then kleftico, wasn't impressed, hardly any flavour to it & the rice was more like a pilau rice, not the nice plump & fluffy rice like the Greeks do.

Oh my absolute god. This is by far the most authentic restaurant in the UK that I have been to. Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous.. Great food, great atmosphere, fantastic, friendly staff... My family and I have an little dine in and the food incredibly tasty. To be honest we weren’t sure at the beginning because I just wanted Gyros but we gave it a try. the food was definitely delicious. The only reason it doesn’t get the 5 start because they are quite slow with the bills.

As with all of our partner restaurants, we of course sample the food and the service. Hellas is without doubt the most incredible Greek cuisine we have ever tasted. It comes as no surprise to us that they have had an incredible launch of their new delivery service. They can get extremely busy, so we recommend an early pre-order to secure your delivery slot.
