Hawksmoor Spitalfields in Tower Hamlets

We ate rump & chips off the lunch menu, it came with a simple salad and we paid extra for a pepper sauce. It was divine, the steak was cooked to perfection. Our server Bruno was charming and attentive. You just cant go wrong at Hawksmoor.

First time at Hawksmoor and I was expecting something great. Although the steak was cooked nicely, it was all a bit underwhelming and overpriced. The food was extremely salty, and the portion sizes for side orders are quite small. Also very annoying when the waiter constantly tops your wine glass up every 2 minutes. I don’t think we be returning.

Great food. Good service. We went at 8.45 on a Saturday and wasn’t any smaller size meats left. So advice get there earlier. Nevertheless good quality meat and food.

The food and staff are always first class. Have been a few times now and never been disappointed, as usual all the staff were very helpful and friendly. I have to say it is on the expensive side, but it is very good value for money. All the food we ate was excellent. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The meal was absolutely fantastic, as always. The fillet is a bit pricey but that’s expected and in line with the quality you get for your money.

It's a challenge to get attention from the table service. Certain food items were not cooked properly and had a dry consistency. The steak also lacked flavour. The atmosphere was so loud that we couldn't hear each other speak. It's unfortunate, they used to be a staple many years ago.

An amazing experience with top-quality service. Every course was fantastic and with the BYOW on a Monday, it was a brilliant meal. A special shout-out to Jennifer, our waitress for the evening who made my 30th Birthday celebrations very special. She was incredibly attentive and brought a smile to everyone's face. We all (six of us) had a fantastic night, last night. We were looked after so well by Jennifer, honestly, she really was fabulous. My fillet was delicious and the maple bacon yummmmmmmmm. Haven't been for a while, reminded me to not leave it so long. The £5 corkage for a bottle on wine on Mondays is too good not to take advantage of, even if it makes for a long rest of the week at work haha

I've been a patron at Hawksmoor (Spitalfields) for more than a decade, consistently experiencing impeccable service and delectable dishes, usually deserving a perfect 10/10 rating. However, during my recent visit, I was disappointed by the lackluster service. The staff seemed inattentive, failing to check on us for orders or attend to our needs, making it a struggle to get their attention. While most of the dishes were delightful, surprisingly, the chips were undercooked, a departure from their usual standards.

Very high quality food and fantastic service! The staff were brilliant at keeping a birthday surprise a secret. Thank you for making the experience so enjoyable.

There were 4 of us dining at Hawksmoor Sunday March the 3nd. Our server wasn’t very friendly and could be a little rude. She didn’t explain the menu very well, took our wine away and only refilled once. I had to ask another server to bring the bottle to us. I asked for my steak to be well done, I wasn’t happy when it arrived and had to send it back. I did add the service charge which was a lot for the service we got, I do regret leaving it and would like it to be refunded back. Generally the food was OK. Mary Morrissey.

First time here, usually go to Borough Market restaurant. This was just lovely. The lady at front reception was so welcoming and really warm chatty and lovely, the staff were all just great and can't do enough for you. The lady who served us (blonde lady and very bubbly and smiley) was fab, just enough service and not overkill, but very friendly and helpful with the menu. I will be back, a lot of restaurants forget it's as much about the staff and how they treat the customer as it is about the actual food (which was superb i might add), so really well done for everyone here for being brilliant from start to finish.

I had a super meal here last night meeting up with an old friend. As it was a Monday night I was able to bring my own more than reasonable bottle of red for just £5 corkage. Bothe the ribeye and the sirloin were delicious ams service from: Jose was friendly and professional. It was my first visit to this branch (the original) and it won’t be my last (particularly on a Monday!).

Fantastic Sunday Roast with very good quality food and service

Hawksmoor Spitalfields' Sunday Roast lives up to its reputation. As you're enjoying it, you must gently remind yourself to save room for their sticky toffee pudding - it is divine.

Treated ourselves to dinner for our 25th wedding anniversary on the last Saturday of February. Very disappointed. I ordered the fillet medium rare and it came dry and tough. Waiter came and asked if the food was ok and I told him it wasn't. He left and came back to say chef would cook another one for me in just a couple of minutes. The second one a few minutes later was just as poor - something I did not bother conveying to the waiter. A week earlier I'd eaten in an Argentinian steakhouse in Bluewater (anniversary celebrations lasted a week), where the fillet was just as it should be - true medium rare fillet, mouth-wateringly succulent, flavoursome, moreish. By contrast in the Hawksmoor last night I gave up trying to chew through the lousy fillet. The place's quality has plummeted in the last year or two. The restaurant was very crowded, with as many tables seemingly crammed in as they could possibly fit. I think they are just being greedy by over-stretching themselves, with inevitably poor results. Oh, the staff are very pleasant and attentive, but it's no longer anywhere near worth the price. Shan't be going back.

Used to be awesome. But now...meh. Not special enough for the price. Service wad good. But food was OK (for the price) table was cramped. And it was our 25th wedding anniversary! Last year we went to Goodmans for the 24th - spent more money - and had a better time and food.

Hostess greeted us and was very polite and welcoming. Several was wonderful. Mixed drinks were good. We had north Devon beef filet and sirloin. Both excellent and cooked perfectly. Also had the ribeye. Again excellent and perfectly cooked. Bone marrow gravy and peppercorn sauces were very tasty. Bitter and blue cheese salad was super tasty. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Not really value for money. Struggled to get servers attention for an extra drink, not much help/guidance on the menu from staff. Tables are too close together for my liking.

Go for the steak! Cooked to perfection. The bone marrow appetizer was like butter. Extravagant indulgence. Sticky toffee pudding delicious but would have been better with ice cream.

Came here on a Friday evening with friends whilst on a visit to London. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and shown to our table. All four of us had mains and a dessert. For mains we all had steaks of various cuts - I shared one of the bigger cuts (T-bone) with a friend, others had a large fillet and a rump. All very good. In the title of this review - my steak has only been beaten by the meat we get from our local farm shop, but certainly one of the best in a restaurant. The service was also excellent. The bill can easily get eye watering - my share of the bill was over £121 - we all had steaks, dessert, two bottles of wine and one drink at the bar.

As always Hawksmoor was great. Service and food excellent.

Can’t fault this place, and I’ve been several times. The meat is incredible quality and cooked to perfection. The sides, all perfect. Service friendly and attentive - the waiter even gave my friend a free cocktail to congratulate her on her first day in a new job 😊 The Monday bring your own wine deal is a fantastic offering. I wish I could come here every Monday, what a banging start to the week! Don’t skip the puddings btw!

Amazing food and service. We all had fillet steaks which just melted in the mouth and the bone marrow gravy was to die for! Service was amazing. Our waitress was attentive, knowledgeable and happy to answer all our questions. Food came out with different servers and they knew who was having what. Couldn’t fault our experience. Thank you.

First time visit to Hawksmoor, starters (bone marrow toast) lovely and highlight of the meal, steak pudding very good, fillet steak was highly over seasoned and chips were very disappointing ? Frozen. Pavlova disappointing, watery and lacked flavour. Overall disappointed and unlikely to return.

food was delicious - taste and quality of ingredients. We are never disappointed! They made us feel extremely welcomed with our toddler, sitting us in a booth. Felt the service wasn't as attentive as normal, it took a while to take our order and topping up / clearing our glasses from the table but it did improve once our food arrived.

Great service, great tasting food, waiters and waitresses were prompt and compliments to the chefs.

I had ribeye, girlfriend had the fillet. Both cooked to perfection. The mac & cheese stood out from the sides, salad, chips & fries, all of which were amazing. The cocktails were delicious. My 1st time at Hawksmoor, will not be my last!!

We had a very good dinner at Hawksmoor. Meat was perfectly cooked, sides were also very good. Prices aligned to what we were expecting. Only negative side, there was a lot of noise in the area where we were sitting.

Steaks were well cooked, but this location felt a bit lack-lustre compared to some of the other Hawksmoor restaurants. The tables are cramped together and there's not much in the way of atmosphere. Fine for a bite to eat, but not great for a special occasion.

We arrived and were seated promptly for our reservation. Right away our group of 3 was a little disappointed that we had missed having Sunday roast by an hour. No big deal - that was our bad. So we asked the waitress for a few minutes to choose other options since our original wasn't available. Two in the party wanted to then order the surf and turf and were then informed that they didn't have lobster. I'm not sure why the waitress didn't inform us of the items on the menu that they were out of upon seating us, but she literally was no help and very sarcastic and acted exasperated to be working. So our table ordered 3-4 appetizers to share and when they came out they were terrible. She checked on us 1x and we immediately left with 85% of the food still on the table.

Potato’s were horrible like frozen out of a bag, Yorkshire was burnt, cocktails were watery.

The food is good but my roast potatoes were cold and I’ve had better Sunday roasts in general in London for less money. I think it may be resting on its laurels.

Outstanding service: our waiter was Knowledgeable, efficient without being intrusive and really made our dining experience. His recommendations were spot on, explanations clear and our glasses were never empty. Steak was perfectly cooked, creamed spinach never disappoints. Overall delicious.

Very enjoyable experience. We had a number of staff taking interest in us and coming to talk and ensure things were good with us. The steaks were cooked well, full of intrinsic flavour and were well seasoned. Vegetables were fantastically prepared.

Service was poor on this visit, was rushed to order, had to waive down staff to drinks top up and dirty plates waiting on our table for 20 mins whilst we waited to order dessert Food was great as usual, value for money, music way too loud for a full restaurant. Was challenging to have a conversation All in all, poor service. Hope it was just a challenging shift and nothing deeper

This was our first time at this Restaurant and certainly won’t be our last… Very welcoming from the start and we were very well looked after. The food was also amazing!!

We had a delicious chicory salad for a starter that set the expectations quite high for the night. Unfortunately, that was it. We then had chateaubriand, which was good but not exceptional. The chips had a good crunch but lacked any flavor, and the greens hadn’t been seasoned at all. We also ordered a bottle of wine, of which I drank less than a glass, that gave me a very bad headache the following day. The staff was very nice and came regularly to refill the wine glasses. However, the person tending to our table was very unknowledgeable about the menu and didn’t know how the dishes were prepared or what they came with

A very noisy restaurant, lovely staff but ambient noise made conversation at times difficult. Porterhouse steak for 2, plus chips and spinach, 2 starters a shared pudding and 2 glasses of wine was £100 per head. Steak was perfectly cooked, Caesar salad excellent, but a pricey meal

Food was excellent. A bit noisy acoustically in the back room. Service dragged a bit by the end of our evening. A real shame that our Monday BYO bottle was well and truly corked so we had to buy from the wine list which is steep!

On arrival the house staff were very welcoming and got our coats sorted and we were sat down very quickly. Our waiter served us very well and was friendly but not obtrusive. We will certainly go back again, but early evening is best as the special cuts of steak go very quickly. It was rather noisy around 7pm but that died down by 8pm and although by 9 it was filling up again, things had calmed down.

The steak meal we ordered was 10/10. Perfectly cooked, delicious. Great sides and sauce. But the Sunday roast needs improving. Appreciate it is £27 which for Hawksmoor is good value and while the beef was perfect, the veg (just boiled/steamed cabbage and carrots) and potatoes (not crispy, pretty bland) need a lot of work. A really good roast should be the full package and the sides leave a lot to be desired here. Cauli cheese and stuffing (additional charge) are really good.

Best Sunday Roast in town! I'v been there with my FF on Sunday and we had a nice lunch finished with a passion fruit ice cream on pavlova, that was amazing.

The roast beef was great if a bit light on the gravy! Service was fine but seemed to perhaps be struggling with the volume of people in the restaurant

We visited the Hawksmoor restaurant near Spitalfields on Friday evening and was very pleased. We received a warm and friendly welcome upon arrival and all the staff who served us throughout the meal were very helpful and friendly. We all enjoyed our food and between us had 2 ribeye’s, 1 fillet and 1 rump. All were perfectly cooked to our liking and were all very nice. There was nothing really to complain about as everything was as you would expect. I suppose the only small gripe I would have is that whilst the food and service was very good I think the prices could be a little lower. I am a true believer in “you get what you pay for” but I think there are other restaurants who do steak just as well for a lower price. Would I visit a Hawksmoor restaurant again? Probably yes but would potentially be put off by the prices. One word of warning. If (like us) you fancy an after dinner shot of something just to take the edge off then be prepared for some very large measures. I am not complaining at all but it’s worth noting they are much larger than you would normally get. If you like your tequila, they have a very good selection.

Staff on door was rude, did not feel welcome and food was overpriced

The lunch deal was great value and the Rump cooked medium was fabulous. We shared a starter of Crab and Ribs, again cooked to perfection. Servers were attentive and the restaurant had a good vibe. The only downside was the drinks were a bit pricey.

Love the 19.5 rump deal, please keep it for rest of the year and we will surely come to Hawksmoor more often, second time this month already . The guy from Hungary who looks after us is really good, he filtered our wine when he spotted some sediments, super professional and nice.

No frills. Very average meal. The side, drinks and dessert overpriced and underwhelming. Not enough space between tables.

Came here on reservation, and had a lovely steak dinner, a couple sides and drinks (including mocktails). It was busy but they resat us at a larger table because I had trouble hearing. Service was impeccable. They also give chocolates with a cute candle for birthdays on a split second. They ran out of porterhouse or charcuterie, but the large T-bone (800 g/ 30 oz) was cooked to medium! It could have used additional salt and possibly butter/ garlic. Otherwise, great char and hits the meat cravings.

We had the special rump and a side offer. The rump was good but not the outstanding quality of other Hawksmoor steaks. I had to ask several times to place a drink order. Nevertheless it was still a good lunch hence a 4 star review.

Not cheap but worth every penny, food and staff brilliant

Been here sooo many times as we love it. Didn’t want to say to our waiter, but we ordered a 300g ribeye and got a sirloin. We were so hungry so we just ate it. Couldn’t be bothered with the additional wait. Chateaubriand was medium rare, we asked for medium and again couldn’t be bothered to send it back. Got to say, it is the first time we’ve had that many errors at Hawksmoor.
