Hatch in St Albans

First time visiting. Service was friendly and fast despite the restaurant being almost full on bank holiday Monday. Very nice espresso and lovely food with great attention to detail which I appreciate. The chimichurri served with the steak frites tasted really lovely and fresh. A reasonable bill at the end to top it all off. I shall be returning next time I’m in St Albans!

Visited on a Friday , we hadn’t booked and were asked to come back in an hour which we did and eventually got a table after another 15 minute wait . Lovely friendly staff , food was very tasty and once ordered arrived quickly. Only downside for me were the toilets which were shabby and not very clean .

Ok without risk of sounding like a massive saddo, I'm absolutely obsessed with Hatch. The service and food is 10/10, absolutely zero faults. After living in St.Albans all my life, I was not expecting to find a better waffle than that gaff down the road. Who knew waffles were meant to be that good? Sweetcorn fritters are now a part of my daily thoughts and those lil truffle hash browns are becoming a problem. Don't go to Hatch if you don't want to ruin every other restaurant in town for yourself. As accommodating as they have been when I have showed up with no booking I would highly recommend doing so in advance to avoid doing the walk of shame anywhere else. Just go home and cry. The choice of cakes/pastries was very disappointing. The staff were over-zealous is checking everything was OK all the time. Honestly prefer Caffe Nero!

Simply superb. Fantastic set up. Great food, perfect location and an amazing team. Sophie looked after us for brunch and was amazing. The Buffalo Benedict was a particular highlight, but all of the food was near perfect! Can’t wait to go back again soon.

I love Hatch! You can’t go wrong with their brunch or their burgers everything is always delicious 😋 we are locals and love visiting Hatch, the only downside is that is hard sometimes to book a table as they are so busy! Rachel our waitress was very friendly and funny :)

This was our frst visit to Hatch's lovely new premises in the Maltings for breakfast. l had the sweetcorn fritters and my partner had a full English - both were absolutely delicious and the coffee was great too. Our server Rachel was attentive and really looked after us.

Wanted to visit for some time and finally managed to get there today, Friday afternoon. Didn't have a reservation, but was greeted at the door and taken to a table straight away. What a find! This little doggie friendly bruncherie has mysteriously escaped our attention until now… Nice friendly staff. We like smiles! Our Dirty Reuben and Buffalo Benedict (we ordered a side of fries we struggled to eat as portion sizes were so generous!) were absolutely delicious. Mouth watering again now as I type!
