Disgusting, the food I and my family was served yesterday was extremely poor standards even the waitress said they’ve had numerous complaints today. Not one thing nice I could write about the food

Our onion rings were rock solid but another portion was provided. We was sat by the door which was freezing and as the restaurant was empty I should have asked to move. I had the bird surf and turf. My chicken was very over cooked and hard to eat but my steak was lovely and cooked just right. We didn’t have starters or dessert so can’t comment on them. Friendly staff and salad bar is always my fav :)

Ordered child’s meatless meatballs pasta and the meatballs were just thrown ontop they were very dry and inedible, I expected like any meatball dish that they would be cooked within the pasta, I had the 1983 combo which I normally love but this was also very dry both the chicken and ribs were not enjoyable at all

The staff were brilliant but unfortunately the place was really grubby and the food wasn't very good.

My chicken was red inside and wasn’t cooked properly, there was no staff around to even try and complain to and had to pay full price for a full meal I could not eat. When arriving I was told there was no tables or reservations and sent away and when I got in the car I managed to book a table within seconds and when going back in was said “what do you want” which was rude enough. Probably wouldn’t return to this branch again so my birthday meal out was ruined

I used the app to book and asked for a booth as I always do due to auditory issues, but wasn't given one and wasn't told when we arrived that there wasn't a booth available. Table service was very slow, despite it being quiet and plenty of staff available. Glasses were dirty so we had to ask for replacements. No cutlery on table. Salad bar was messy, no labels on dressings/sauces, only one clean plate and one dirty plate available for bread roles, several items needed replenishing. Food was ok, but all the dishes were smaller than last time we visited, apart from one. And the food wasn't as tasty as it used to be.

Nothing was Great, or even good. Welcome was unimpressive. Table was far too small for 4 people, asked to move, told we couldn’t due to lack of staff. Returned to table to be greeted to a wall of noise from the table behind us, 1 mother, 1 child, 1 toddler. All had electronic devices playing with loud noise. In addition to the music being played in the restaurant, it was an appalling environment. Spoke to the manager and insisted on moving tables. He moved us. All tables then filled, breaking the myth about a lack of staff. Food arrived, 1 order incorrect (although partially refunded). Food was warm at best, overcooked and utterly uninspiring. Salad bar was bare, no lettuce and may other options had also run out.

Ignored while waiting to be seated, half of the menu was not available, left before ordering..

Had breakfast at Harvester Merthyr for the past 3 weeks on a Thursday. Excellent friendly service with a delicious brekkie. Sean was very attentive and welcoming. We will be back next week

Salad bar was average -- needed topping up with FRESH produce, main meal again was average - chicken burger -- bit bland and tastless. Harvesters never seem to have consistency in a standard.

Lost a star due host/front manager was a little rude, very direct,as if he was doing you a favou. That said we have been to a few Harvesters. This is not a bad little1. Staff sometimes rushed off there feet due to how busy they are, but if you are just a little patient they will go out their way to help you. Great service and great food. Did hear a rumour Harvesters maybe getting rid of the salad bar..Such a shame if they do. As a rule this Harvester never disapoints, great with kids and very family friendly.

Been to this restaurant a few times before. This harvester is ok. It's not one of the better ones but its not the worst. Food was ok and came out fairly quick, staff are pretty friendly. We did have a issue when we left the restaurant. As my wife fell over outside on the paving, and my 7 year old daughter also tripped on the paving as it's uneven. This really didn't help as none of the outside lights around the restaurant except 1 on the far side of the carpark were not on. It's was actually quite dark. I wanted to go in and complain to the manager and staff, But my wife wanted no fuss made. This to me is totally unacceptable. We are only in our 40's, but there was older customers in the restaurant , and some with Zimmer frames as I seen them. This could and will cause a nasty fall.

It was my birthday. I ordered the veggie burger. I didn’t like it and I found hair on my plate. I informed the waitress who said she will feedback to the kitchen staff and apologised. I was still expected to pay for my meal which cost £40 for 2 people. To add I saw one of the male chefs come out the kitchen take off his hat and have a good scratch of his head and hands up his apron and scratch his stomach! Never again worst service I’ve ever experienced. I won’t be going back a disappointed birthday meal!

I couldn't fault the service, cleanliness and food, we thoroughly enjoyed our meals.

Good value over all and more often than not well cooked food. Staff always nice and always polite.

Coped well as it was busy. I rarely give a 5 star review as this would imply there is no need for improvement, however The salad bar needs to be regular monitored as sometimes the food spills into others. The tongs are not always used correctly so they will be contaminated by the items next to one another. Salad sauces can run empty quickly so again monitor these regularly. Salad bowls could be bigger and offer new cutlery when main meals arrive, not use your salad cutlery. Main meals always been very good. Hope this review helps you reach your 5 ⭐.

I'll be honest we were looking forward to the buffet the harvester used to provide for breakfast, this has now been scrapped. We turned up ordered food and drinks at 9 in the morning on a Saturday. We had a cinema showing at 10.20. This place had 1 staff member working and the place was busy as was first game of the six nations. The chap serving was really nice and worked hard. Anyways our drinks turned up and we were waiting on food i looked up at the hot plates and saw our food sitting there for a good 20 minutes before serving. My food came out it was cold, I sent it back to be told they would make a new one. This was 10.10 didn't have time left hungry. When I paid the bill I found out they charge 4.20 for a small glass of lemonade because it's refill. Ridiculous.

Really nice breakfast, enough food and the coffee is so good. However, as always the star is the staff and the excellent service they provide. Our server, Lindsey was lovely and went out of her way to make sure we had a good meal.

We visited today and despite ongoing work, the whole restaurant was clean and quiet. We were able to enjoy breakfast in peace and we were met with such a fabulous welcome from Sean/Shaun/Sion who couldn't be more helpful. He is a real credit to the place and couldn't do enough for us! ☺️👏🏻

Staff were friendly and food was lovely

Had a very disappointing experience, limited options as most food items were not available. Food came out cold, requested fresh items but this came with a fuss. On second occasion refused the onion rings as they were burned and saturated in oil. Accompaniments were not available with the meals, and those that came were unedible, the rice and beans were dried out and stuck together in clumps. Service was extremely poor, the waiter kept coughing over us. Hygiene was an issue as he was playing with his hair and observed handling people's plates with meals on straight away. Was told the manager would give a 10 pound discount on food, however the side items remained on the bill so not really a discount provided!! Definitely a miss for us moving forward!

Nice food but very busy and had to call back

Service was awfull, basically the lad who has our side of the restaurant was more interested sniffing, leaning on tables and walls then playing on his phone, he got on the other servers nerves so much she had to come and serve us. He was scruffy, and put me off my food with his constant sniffing. We won't return to this harvester again, never

Another great meal with loads on the plate cooked very well, delivered in good time & with care by a cheerful young lady. What more could you ask? Tasty meats & great to get chicken that hasn't dried out. 2 mains, endless salad, endless pepsi or similar & 2 coffees around £54. For what we had, a real bargain. definitely happy to visit any harvester again.

"Pricey but worth it" this was my initial review based on a pleasant experience. I have since been recently and had a disappointing experience. The food was cool as if it had been stood a while prior to being brought to the table. Cold peas, chips, onion rings , steak and mushrooms. Very disappointed.

On arrival, I’m assuming the manager was very abrupt and stern looking (older man in floral shirt) wasn’t very welcoming. Our waitress said she was new but she did an excellent job, took her time repeating our order and was very friendly. Food was great, hot and plenty of it. If I was to say one thing, the build your own sundae has almost completed melted when the girls received it. Could you possibly put it in plastic sundae glasses to make it easier to build to actually build a sundae, because it’s just a bowl of melted ice cream with a cone stuck on top. We had a different manager who came and asked us how things were and he was friendly and much happier than the previous one. All in all a great experience and would definitely return

When you tell the server you are freezing because of the air con above you do something about it. Sell steak that you can actually eat, not full of gristle and too hard to chew.

Restaurant being run by youngsters and food quality is not the best. Service is non existent. Won't be returning

Booking was easy, service was swift and friendly, food and drinks was excellent.

We booked a table for 4 but a fifth person joined us at the last minute. The door staff/manager refused to admit us as he said they didn't have any tables for 5 people. There were several empty tables visible to us including tables that could sit up to 6. When we pointed this out to him he then said that he didn't have enough staff to serve us. We pointed out it was just 1 more. My wife is disabled and our daughter who was with us was 39 weeks pregnant. We left and ate elsewhere.

Libby our waitress was excellent a huge smile and great service. Enjoyed the meal and the restaurant was bright and airy.

I was greeted at the door by Libby who from the moment she first greeted us until the second we left the building, was very attentive and smiley. She had very quick service! I ordered the bird surf and turf, which was cooked to perfection by Kyle!! By far one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Overall the experience was amazing and I will definitely be coming back.

Went this week had lovely food and the service of you waitress Lyndsey was next to nothing she made are visit very welcoming and could do enough for us well recommend the food as well 5 stars all day will be back again

The server libby was amazing, I have am autistic daughter and part of her autism is she is overally social and chatty but this didn't deter libby like most she was very patient with her and engaged with her which made my daughter happy. Not many people are able to do this and this employee needs a pat on the back for her fabulous customer service.

Went to Harvester this morning for breakfast. The place looked clean but a very cold temperature inside, making it uncomfortable. Both me and my son left our coats on. The waiting staff were welcoming and polite. There seemed to be a big wait for the actual breakfasts from the kitchen, although they did not seem that busy customer wise. The actual breakfast was not particularly appetising and was tasteless. Filter coffee was okay with various options on sugar, sweetners. No lactose free milk was available. Only oat milk or normal.

The place it's self was lovely and clean very inviting, the service was good, the salad bar was plenty full but OMG what happened to the mains? I had a large mixed grill chicken leg , black pudding,,sausage like a brick, tiny amount of gammon and steak actually smaller than my sausage, egg ,,few peas, mushroom, onion rings 3 small ones and a very dry jacket potato, nowhere near the food for the price, my friend had a simply chicken it was a flat piece of chicken NOT a chicken breast as stated. .i have had this meal in other harvesters and it did not look like today's .

Ribs were fatty and was not nice so we left them Burger was swimming in grease and way too much sauce. Not the best experience was had

The portions of food were pretty good. The servers were nice. Salad bar was missing items and very untidy. Felt a bit rushed as we were told they were short staffed and would have to close at 8. We had arrived at 6:30. Not sure if we’d go there again.

What is going on? Salad bar empty, sauces empty, no bread rolls, salad cart stinking, ordered jalapeño poppers… came back and said not in stock! Ordered chicken wings, not in stock!! It’s filthy over here! You need more experienced staff as all the staff are all young!! Terrible experience and won’t come back! Shame as we live close! Will take our business next door to Franky and Bennys!!

The service (waitress) was good however the food wasn’t great. I had the mixed grill and the rump steak was as tough as an old boot, completely inedible. the sausage was over cooked and dry as was the gammon. The chicken however was actually nice.

Cutlery dirty, not just once but 3 times. Looked like it had been dipped in water but not actually washed. The spoons we had for our desserts were disgusting, I went looking for a member of staff & asked could we have clean please as there were dirty. We were given fresh spoons but they were also dirty & felt grubby. There were silver jugs on the counter by the kitchen so I went to grab more but every spoon I took out was dirty. I found the manager and explained to him that this was the 3rd set of dirty cutlery we had been given, he apologised and went to get us more. He returned with fresh clean cutlery.

Visited harvester yesterday. Waitress was extremely busy given way to much work load for one person. Didn’t seem to get any help from other staff. The other waitress was in the kitchen and looked to be just chatting to the kitchen staff while Lyndsey our server was running around the restaurant. She made our time there a great experience but was very much alone. The manager was rude and no where to be seen most of the time we was there. We could hear other guests saying how lyndsey seemed to be alone. But no one blamed her for this. If anything felt for her. Food was ok but the work load was way to much for one person. We tipped Lyndsey well as she deserved it the amount she had to do by herself.

What a terrible experience 1st time 8 went was 22nd Dec went in the manger did not pick his head up from the computer for at least 4 mins while I stood there like a lemon to be told it was fully booked fair enough went back 30th Dec same man staring at the computer stood waiting for him 2 look at told me fully booked again go back at 8 which I did still only half full when we did get served nice food and lovely staff but the managers attitude stinks won't be going Back

Visited tonight(Christmas eve) table was booked for 4 people at 8pm. The restaurant was very quiet , were shown to our table promptly, but were made to feel rushed to eat our food and leave. My wife was brought the wrong dessert twice, the second time she decided just to eat it so not to make a fuss.

The food was horrendous, nothing like Harvester at all. The salad bar had old food displayed, the rolls were stale and the dishes were missing ingredients.

Fabulous food, drinks and service as always! Came for a works Christmas party and was very impressed with the Christmas menu. Our table was lovely and the service was prompt. Price was brilliant!

Wayne is the best Santa, we come every year he is amazing with the children, cannot recommend breakfast with Santa enough!

I've had steaks all around the world, this was up there with the very best. Atmosphere and ambience was outstanding. Would revisit.

Came in, lady took our order quickly enough and drinks were bought out really quickly. The service was substandard after that, had ordered the same as the table next to us but before them and they received theirs first, had to find a server to ask where food was half hour later because we had somewhere to be. Even after telling them we had 15 minutes to be somewhere, service was slow and we ended up being late, and unable to finish some of the breakfast. Massive shame because the food was lovely.

I dont usually add reviews but I have to this time. Been to this Harvester 4 times over the past year and have had a relatively similar experience every time. Last night we went at about 7pm. When we got there there was a long list of items they didnt have stuck on the door, one of which was what I planned to have. The unlimited refill drinks were also not available. It took at least 10 minutes to be acknowledged and seated. It was another 10 minutes before our order was taken. After a while our drinks and bowls came, and cutlery but no napkins. The salad bar looked quite sad and had several items missing, but overall not too bad. While I was at the salad bar I could see the team were under considerable stress. Our food didn't arrive for 30-45 minutes, and when it did I noticed my burger did not have bbq sauce, hash browns or onion rings. No mention of this or why when the food arrived. My partner's meal had onion rings (albeit two tiny ones) so I know at least those were in stock. I had burgers two other previous times here and they have always left out at least one item. Due to the sheer amount of time it had taken for our food to arrive, I didnt feel I had time to raise the lack of several items with the few staff available as we had a film to watch at the cinema. This also meant we had to rush our food. I don't know what's going on at this Harvester. I don't blame the staff who served us, as they were all polite and trying their best in a bad situation. It could be that they are chronically understaffed or there is a leadership / management issue which means basic things aren't being done. I have given this particular Harvester several chances and the benefit of the doubt enough times. There are other places to eat nearby so with regret I cant imagine I will choose to eat here again unless I have to.

Where do I even start absolutely shocking we visited Sunday for our works do and was nothing but the shambles We booked weeks ago and put our order in weeks ago but they still got it in correct with the Christmas dinners and also forgetting one set of ribs. We were told their ice cream machine was broken but saw two other tables receive ice cream despite being told their machine was broken and was no ice cream. 3 profiteroles on a whole thump of squirty cream not neatly presented just thrown on a plate. Some people got given extra gravy whilst others didn’t. Chicken was dry and barely and meat on it sprouts were rock hard and a little bit of cauliflower of cabbage. Forgot a desert but in the ended up cancelling it as despite three times asking it never came. Once we all paid the waiter said there’s an outstanding desert who’s is this and once we said it was the one we hadn’t recieved he just said oh ok no apology for getting it incorrectly. The delay on food coming we had book for 5:15 and it was 7pm before we recieved any start of food.

Great service and food was good as usual. Wayne was fantastic serving us and a credit to Harvester. Went above and beyond looking after us, great personality.

First time having breakfast here and I thoroughly enjoyed! We took advantage of the £5.99 brekkie which was proper value for money and our really friendly server Wayne and the Christmas music combined really put us in the christmas mood on the way to our holiday :) thanks guys.

This is my second unsatisfactory visit in a matter of weeks. We returned for a second time after recieving a voucher due to our previous experience, however we have once again been left disappointed. On both occasions both I and those I attended with have found the service to be poor with long delays on food being brought out, food/drinks being unavailable and requests not being responded to. Cleanliness has also been an issue and on one occasion our meals were brought out at different times so some meals were almost finished while others were starting. Today, there was a chemical like taste to one meal which I believe was caused by the cutlery as I had seen this being cleaned inappropriately. The manager offered to re-plate the food and replace one item. In hindsight I feel the whole meal should have been replaced - it was inedible. We were not charged for this meal but I feel this was the very least that could have been done. On both occasions I feel the responses to our complaints have been unsatisfactory and very passive. We will not return.

Visited your merthyr restaurant today, food was lovely and enjoyed it all,we was served by a lovely young lady named kyra-leigh she really made our experience here outstanding!,If or when we come back we hope you take care of us again because we were so impressed at how well you did your job so well done kyra-leigh

Popped in to harvester Merthyr after a meeting and ordered a steak sandwich chips peas the salad bar was fully stocked , maria was front of house kimberley and Wayne was the sevicers kitchen staff was amazing as usual 👌

Food was piping hot, bit of a wait on food but can’t really complain when it looked like a full house, we were served by Jacob who was outstanding! He was very prompt in serving us, kept a good check on us throughout our visit and he looked like was doing a fantastic job at keeping all of his tables happy and clean, very pleasant and polite boy, one waiter to keep

Only giving 1 star because I can t give a zero and wanted to leave a review. Went to Harvester Merthyr Tydfil last night . Was shown our table and both my husband and I skidded on the floor before we even got to our table. The waitress came and was polite and welcoming. Asked if I could have the salmon without mashed potatoes and was told no because it would cost me £15 for salmon I explained why I wanted that and was told no . Felt like I was stupid for asking it, so chose the pasta and hubby had rotisserie chicken. The salad bar had very little in it and what was left looked as if it had been there for awhile . 45 minutes later the food came both meals were stone cold, the chicken had a dollop of cold congealed sauce and mashed potato which had a crusty skin forming on it . Complained and was told they d put it through as a rush order, the servers/kitchen staff must have known these weren’t right just by looking at them and feeling the plates. By that time we both decided we d had enough, paid for our drinks and left . Would never recommend to anyone which is a pity .

We booked a table at Harvester Merthyr Tydfil last night Friday 24th November. We booked for my cousins 13th Birthday and what an absolute disappointing experience it turned out to be and a lot of money wasted. Upon arrival there was no front of house...

I live the halloumi skewers ... Always a good choice. There's a particular server in Merthyr called Wayne who makes the place so good to go to .

It was absolutely appalling quality. My husband had mixed grill- everything except the steak was overcooked to the point of being inedible- sausage, gammon, black pudding, chicken was horrendous. Mushroom tasted gone off, peas were so overdone they were grey. Chips were average. The gammon was a tiny lump of a corner. The black pudding was 2 ends with the end bits still on them- inedible. I had the dirty vegan burger- yet again I didn’t have what I was supposed to- no cheese or hashbrowns. Onion rings that I would have broken my teeth if I had eaten them. Smothered in bbq sauce to try to disguise it all. Just disgusting. Cold chips. Having always been fans of harvester we have vowed never ever to go again. It looked terrible on the plate and tasted just as bad.

Food was amazing as always! Wayne looked after us and he was very helpful and couldn't do enough for us!

We were there on a busy Saturday. Service was average but we had a few issues with missing side dishes not arriving, some food only lukewarm, chicken quarter was the size of a chicken wing. The manager gave us a discount on our bill and all staff were polite. Doubt we'd go back.
