Harvester in Bridgend

Firstly, we were ignored when we arrived, and then a lady behind the bar huffed and came over, showed us to our table, we made our order, the starters showed up before our drinks and they were luke warm at best, went uo to the salad bar to be met by empty bowls and these wernt refilled the entire time we were there. The table behind us was given the wrong food to which was then given to our table. Very poor customer skills, table was sticky walls were caked in grime, the picture frame by our table had a chewed up wet tissue ball on it, no salad, not toppings ( bacon bits, onion ect ). Staff were all congregating around the bar when everyone was sat at the other end of the restaurant.

Lovely quiet meal with a friend, had to change the reservation at short notice which was done with ease, very good communication too. Had the scampi and chips that was delicious with the salad bar

The place was short staffed and it was advertised everywhere in the facility that they were only taking booking only. And that didn't change the service. The greeter was polite and friendly. And the waitress Leona was amazing. She was still quite new and getting used to everything but she was extremely friendly and made our visit more enjoyable. We have had mixed reviews on the food before but this visit the food was on point. Delicious hot and very tasty. It's a shame it's closing.

Ordered the bird, surf and turf. Prawns were overcooked and tiny, the steak was very tough and the coleslaw warm and wilted. The chicken was nice but the chips were stone cold. My daughter’s mash was hard around the edges where it was kept in the microwave for too long. It was like it had all been cooked but left under the hot light for too long. We left almost everything. We were also the only ones in the restaurant when we arrived (bar 2 other tables already eating), and we ordered our food pretty quickly. Other customers arrived soon after. Yet, 4 other tables were served their food before us. Usually love Harvester's, our local Harvester is amazing. Very disappointed with this one.

Table service wasn’t great, lots of menu items unavailable. Very slow to clear tables and take order for coffees/deserts I can’t say there was a lot of good points as it was quite poor all round including the quality of food

These guys were incredibly understaffed today, but even despite this they were very accommodating and kind. Will come again if I'm doing another training course over this way.

Guide food and service. Toilets were a bit worse for wear

Terrible food. Salad cart was half empty and needed a clean. Chips were over cooked, beans were dry and the chicken was also dry and over cooked. Plates weren't taken away between courses so we still had starters and main course plates on the table when eating our dessert. Very poor experience unfortunately

Very poor service, dirty toilets, £18 for a 2 small southern fried chickens and chips slapped on a plate no presentation, salad bar - not regular stocked up, lettuce limp and dry, potato salad jus pots of sauce. Staff didn't even check on us after spending £45 at this place very very disappointed 😞

The half chicken was that small it must have been chick 🐥 the day before

The service was good for us but the 2 ladies sat next to us were fed up of waiting for someone to take their order so got up and left. The salad bar was lacking no peppers, carrots and no crispy onions. Then came to order and was told no mash no jacket potatoes and no rotisserie chicken for 20mins. 🙁

Really disappointed with my first visit to this harvester having previous great experience in Gowerton Swansea. The food was not even lukewarm even the chips were cold. The bar area was quite chilly as well. I ordered a coffee to warm myself up and even that wasn’t hot. Overall it doesn’t encourage me to return.

Food cold ,salad bar had very little left

Had good meals there but its hit n miss. Went last week and had to send food back as was only warmish not hot. I enjoyed my meal when it later came back but just inconvenient and not what you want or expect from this popular family restaurant. Unfortunately it wasn't only us who had this problem either as people seated near to us also had to do the same. Update: Visited this restaurant again last week & sorry to see that nothing has improved. I ordered steak & although I like it well done, what I received was not very pleasing to the eyes or palate for that matter. Also it just tasted like it was warmed up. My friend who ordered something entirely different, also felt the same. I can't believe that this was once a favourite restaurant.

Garlic mushrooms were uneatable hard and tough chicken was Luke warm and waited over a hour for main course

Just had food here and it was great, service was a bit slow, but that was down to the girl who was rushed off her feet and not her fault. Very friendly and like I said the food was great, the 12oz ribeye was done perfectly. Could do with more waiting staff on in the evenings though. I would gladly return here.

We have not called here to eat for a while. On approach lots of flagstones uneven and marked for attention. The salad bar was 3/4 empty with poor choices, the chicken meal Kebab was terrible 4 chicken chunks on a skewer not good value for money and will avoid in future and must be so expensive if you take the children too

Not great… Went for food in the evening service not great from our waitress. Wasn’t very welcoming and took for ever to come and ask if we wanted a drink but walked past us multiple times. She finally came to ask if we wanted to order food we ordered then came the food it was very bland and underwhelming no check back from the waitress she didn’t even speak to us once after she took our order I had to ask another employee for our bill as we just couldn’t wait to leave as we felt that we had been forgotten about. Also wanted to have a dessert but didn’t bother so just paid and left.

Entrance to the place was dangerous given the state of the path. We felt rushed ordering We felt rushed to pay and leave We wouldn’t have minded so much if it was busy but it was very quiet

There was one gentleman who was brilliant. The rest of the staff need desperate training. When we entered the restaurant there was a sign asking us to wait before being seated. There were at least 4 employees that walked past us without acknowledging us or letting us know if someone would be with us soon. Then when we sat down we weren't told of the food that they didn't have, such as specific desserts or main meals, which ended us having to miss on the set 3 course mothers day menu, we paid for 3 course, only received 2 as they'd run out at 1pm! The main was inedible, I completely left my burger. The hashbrown must have been deep fried about 7 times there was no potato left inside. The chicken was over cooked and hard on the outside. The salad bar was absolutely stinking, there wasn't even any butter for the bread. Out of the 3 salad bowls we had, we only filled 2. We weren't asked if our meal was okay or given the opportunity for feedback. 3 people sat down after us and got served before us. There was only myself, my husband, our 5 year old daughter and 6 month old baby to serve! My daughter was upset that they didn't have her desert and it pretty much ruined Mother's Day. Will not be returning and absolutely will not recommend. The place feels as though it is run by 12 year olds except for that one gentleman at the front. Shocking disaster.

The restaurant is run down and in need of refurbishment. Toilet facilities are appalling. Standard of food isn’t great and staff are over worked

Nice place food was good, with a good selection, but the servings could be more, staff was friendly and polite and good selection of drinks would definitely go back...

Food portions have shrunk and not much choice on the salad bar. However what we did have was very nice. Not enough staff to cover each section, our waitress was lovely but clearly had too many customers for one person.

Absolutely disgusting. We came for food with our 2 little ones, the salad was great & that was about it. The lemonade on the refill drink machine broke & was told id have to pay again for a 7up if i wanted lemonade (only thing i drink) no refund for the refill I purchased for no reason. My daughter ordered the kids beef burger which came out as a chicken/bacon burger. After bringing it out for a 2nd time the guy when used his hand to pick up the burger bun to double check it was beef 👀 It was then sent back again as it had burger sauce in. The corn was cold & the chips well what you call 6 chips max on her plate were also cold. Me & my partner ordered the steaks with an added chicken breast. My partners was overcooked & mine undercooked so send back. Had to chase the added chicken breast & my partners was bought out with chips when she ordered jacket potato. After all the fuss of sending things back we just ate & left even though the food was cold. As you can understand we came with 2 kids which by the end of this were no prepared to sit any longer to rectify this. Had a manager been around we would’ve spoken to her/him but couldn’t see anyone.

We waited over 30 minutes for our order / drinks to be to be taken - food arrived wrong had to be re done which took a further 15 minutes and we had to chase where our food was. When food arrived it was Luke warm and the quality was mediocre at best. Cost us £40 and we barely ate half our meals between us all. Wouldn’t go back.

Came here with my girlfriend on the weekend, we were invited in by a friendly member of staff that gave us a lovely booth to enjoy our lovely meal. The food was amazing and tasted lovely. I will definitely be back again.

Terrible service 20 minutes to take our order 35 for food to come for one meal to be completely wrong taking a further 15 minutes ribs was unedible , chicken was burned

Was really hoping this time would be different as a treat for son but once again disappointing. Cold seating area, run down , sausage bap came with chips rather than hash brown (wasn't advised), roll should have been brioche but was burger roll, Cappuccino was warm and service was poor, made to feel a burden just being there. Sorry, but we just wont be back again.

The food was wonderful but we waited over an hour for it to arrive. That was after waiting for over half an hour to have our order taken. Salad cart was abysmal. Hardly anything there. Bread was just a baguette cut up into smaller pieces. Staff were pretty useless to be fair. Overall, we were there over 2 hours and still hadn't had our dessert. This isn't the first time we've waited over an hour for our food either hence the poor review. Third strike from me I'm afraid. Sort it out harvester.

I had fish and chips, mushy peas. Fish was way over cooked to the point I could hardly cut through the batter. Mushy peas cold. Informed waitress to tell chef. Waitress said enjoy the rest of your day. Did not offer refund or free drink. Won't be coming back.

It"s got a lot better than it was before. Good salad bar, better food and better service.

Excellent food and service. I went to Harvester Sern with my family with our little toddler. We had Ultimate Grill and Mixed Combo Grill with salads. The foods and portions were amazing. We had Charlotte as our waitress who was really attentive, helpful, and made us really comfortable while waiting for the food. She deserves 5-stars. Will come back whenever we visit Bridgend.

really nice steak and food for my 29th birthday and the bar staff and chiefs where excellent and did great jobs on our food and checking up on us me and my dad had a great time

Never experienced any like it. Walked in to a kid projectile vomiting by the front door (kids do that) it wasn't the problem the problem was being left stood next to the sick which wasn't a small amount of sick it was everywhere for almost 20 minutes before anyone bothered to acknowledge us to seat us. I wish we had walked out at that point as I can now understand what the kid was sick. Drinks took over half hour to arrive, salad bar empty and dirty. Food took over an hour it was cold and disgusting ny partner who will eat anything usually for the first time ever sent a mixed grill back half his food was over cooked the rest wasn't cooked at all his chicken was pink inside! (everyone else was too polite to send it back but i had expected for someone to come ask how the meal was and would have told them but no one bothered to ask) the manager (I assume as had a white poloshirt) took the plate no sorry or offer of a new plate or refund, my oldest daughters chicken had processed microwaved melted cheese on that looked like rubber but probably why it was the only part of her meal that was a little warm it was the only part of her meal she ate the bacon and chips was feeezing, my chips was freezing the steak left an awful burnt fat taste in my mouth so left the chips and half the steak, my sons burger was cold and dry, my youngest daughter did eat her simply pasta but said it had no taste she didnt eat her chips or corn on the cob as the chips was cold and corn hard not cooked. 4 staff stood crying by the bar, I would cry if I served that slop. Will never return there my youngest daughter didnt even want to risk having the desert that came with her meal and my son jokingly said he needs to go to church and pray he didnt get food poisoning. We all left feeling sick I had planned to stay for dessert but none of us wanted to chance it so opted to go grab something from sainsbury for later when the sick feeling went especiallysince we was all still hungry from unedible food. My oldest daughter sent an email to complain. I wish i had checked reviews before coming as it looks like these problems are not new. Thanks for ruining my sons 16th birthday

Hi, Me and my family went to your Bridgend branch this evening and in short, I am disgusted. When we walked in, a child vomited all over the host station, no fault to the staff on that but, we were then stood there for 20 minutes waiting for them to clean the vomit and even acknowledge us waiting there when we had booked a table. We ordered our drinks, two pints, one bottle of cider and 3 refillable drinks- this took half an hour to come to our table. We then went to the salad bar which was empty and dirty, the bread was also empty. Our food took over an hour, it was cold, some parts over cooked and others raw, such as the chicken on the mix grill being pink, we asked to send that back. The manager came over and took the plate away, no offer of a replacement, alternative or offer to remove from bill. My chicken was also cold but thankfully not pink. The only thing that made it edible was the fact it had been in the microwave to melt the cheese. The bacon on my food was cold, so was the chips making my meal inedible. Staff were sobbing at the bar, four of them in one go. First and last time I will be coming here, it's unacceptable and frankly a danger health and safety wise. Truly, truly disgusted by this evening. A regional manager needs to go in and set some standards as this branch has let them go completely. As someone that works in hospitality, I wouldn't usually complain but this honestly cannot continuing happen, as I said; it's dangerous.

Delicious food, very friendly and helpful staff. The steak was very delicious, as was my partners rib rack. The desserts were excellent, plus 40% discount on main meals. Simply can't go wrong.

I ate at the restaurant on Tuesday and we was served by the lovely Charlotte and she a fantastic host, couldn’t of asked for more our food was cooked by the lovely Nia and William, l food came out super hot and looked great also very quickly. We was met by Nicole and she was wonderful also 5🌟

I know it's my fault for eating early ,but screaming kids ain't fun (5pm) . The food was good ,but the portions are getting smaller, and the prices are over the top . I used to eat at Harvester a lot, but I think I'll try smaller, independently run pub / restaurants next time .

Amazing service would definitely go again

Service was excellent however salad bar was messy , rolls were stale and sauces needed topping up as very low. Meal arrived but chips were cold for both of us. Chicken was lovely however. We wouldn’t rush to return to eat at harvester as have experienced much better previously in the past but past few times of visiting differing ones it appears standards have dropped. Management should ensure staff complete tasks throughout their shifts and monitor and clean salad bar. Chef should not prepare main meal when eating started to avoid cold meals being served

Food is good value and staff very friendly and hardworking, especially as they were short staffed when we went.

Staff really helpful when choosing a gluten free meal and pudding and we were easily able to swap things around to be able to have something off the set menu

My partner and I came here for lunch and couldn't believe how incredibly welcoming and kind the staff were! We were celebrating after a very positive hospital appointment and the staff went out of their way to make our day even more special. Big thanks to everyone 😊

The only downside is that the footpath from the carpark to the main entrance is loose and a tripping hazard. Also, exteriors of the building is in need of some renovation.

Terrible food. It was the most disgusting Christmas dinner I've even had. The veg was part boiled. The meat was dry. Pigs in blankets were as hard as granite and the Yorkshire pudding was burnt. The first waitress we had was extremely moody and had no manners. Clearly in the wrong job.

We ordered via deliveroo. Waited just over a hour checking the app for updates. After 1.5 hours we rang only to be told they had cancelled our order. No call etc and even stated being prepared on the app. Many thanks deliveroo and harvester.

Found a metal shard in my burger and told it was from a grill brush. It was clearly a bag or cable tie. Told me they'd take the meal off the bill, the meal that I didn't eat, that contained metal. No further discount for rest of meal. Ruined my day.

Upon arriving we found two of the disabled parking spots were occupied by cars not showing a blue badge. I raised this with a staff member in the hope they could identify the owner. They politely listened and told me the car park belonged to Premier Inn and I should tell this to another member of staff as they were too busy to. 7 of us had a breakfast, the beans and tomato were cold, poached egg hard, hash browns and bacon luke warm. We couldn't have scrambled egg as it's ordered in and the chef can't scramble egg and we didn't have a chance to raise the poor standard of breakfast with the waitress as they didn't ask how the food was and was nowhere to be seen. I guess because it was cold. Overall a poor customer experience.

The place was clean and staff friendly but the food which is why we go to a restaurant left a lot to be desired of..... The fact that we were unable to simply purchase a festive dinner without another course was disappointing although the quality of the festive dinner and the forced upon us soup in all honesty left a lot to be desired of. The tomato soup looked as if it had been standing for a good while and was so thick you could have ate it with a fork. It was so thick it was like old school custard complete with the skin of an elephant. The turkey lunch was exactly why people avoid turkey as it was very very dry and almost inedible but at £ 18.49 it was made all the more disapointing indeed but after the tomato soup debarkle this was no surprise. The steak though was cooked as ordered and was adequate. If it wasn't for the salad bar we would have needed a visit to McDonalds to fill up before we left the outlet. A bit of a poor show for a Harvester I fear as most give a general good meals but a bit let down here. M

This place used to be cheap and cheerful so no one could really complain but the food prices have sky rocketed without the quality improving at all. The male staff need some serious attitude adjustment but our two waitresses were lovely although service was a bit slow. Food is very average and they had NO ICE CREAM so desserts were out of the question! The place feels and looks cheap but prices are the same as a restaurant in Cardiff.

Lovely meal, fabulous staff, but I had to keep my coat on, because it was cold in the restaurant. Other than that, it was perfect.

Visited a few days ago not impressed the salad bar was empty I ordered a burger with bacon and pulled pork it came out no bacon and a teaspoon portion of pulled pork disappointed for the price of it not worth it .

Our meals were lovely meat cooked to our likes, staff very friendly and helpful.

I’ve been here loads of times before and normally found the service good but on this occasion or meals were really slow coming out, also asked one of the waitresses for some sauce and she never came back to me. We arrived at 530 and didn’t finish until nearly 730.

Very nice evening meal, everything was great.

We waited an hour for our main courses, whilst trying to entertain a 1 year old. The restaurant wasn't full so we didn't understand why the food took so long. When yhe food arrived, my husband's chicken had a strange texture, there was water on his plate and his gravy was very watery. The staff who took payment at the bar was grumpy and didn't look at me or say much.

Was there on business, stayed at Premier next door. Service was very professional and friendly at this Harvester... Our server was absolutely spot on and made the experience very enjoyable. Food was delicious, and have no negatives at all ... Place was a bit quieter with it being about 5ish on a Thursday evening.

After a 20 minute waite. The food arrived and the chips were cold so they had to be replaced. The meat was dry and an all-around terrible meal. The tomato on the side was burnt and black. We won't be going here again. At least they took the price of the 2 combo meals off the bill, which we hardly ate.

Appalling visit today that has put me off Harvester for good to be honest . It was really quiet in there but the salad bar was ransacked and we had to wait and ask for everything . While waiting we had a view of the kitchen and how dirty it was some parts held together by gaffa tape . The staff were also very unkempt looking . The whioe place is dirty and tired from the toilets to the carpets I just felt grimy in there . We ordered 4 meals only 2 of which were passable although my husband said his steak was like liver . The two ultimate combos for £26 each mind were shocking no coleslaw ,cold chips , anemic white corn that looked as if it had been sitting in water all day and the meat items which were dry and wouldn't have gone down my gullet if not for the addition of the Bbq sauce looked as if they had been dropped from a height onto the plate . The only good point about the whole visit was the young lad with a beard in a blue jumper he seemed to be the only one actually providing any customer service. All in all zero ⭐️if I was able !!

Food was average. Very disappointed that we signed up for the newsletter, got a code for a free drink which ended up not being honoured due to the ‘wrong drink being ordered’…..after us specifically asking what it included. Shear waste of time & very unhelpful staff at the till. Not good customer service ‘the t&c’s are the t&c’s’

Not able to have dirty fries i was going to order due to gluten free fryer not being available. Then chose nachos as GF options very limited, nachos were stale. Was given free salad as GF fryer not available.

The waitress left us for ages before we could order. She didn't check in to see how our food was and was quite rude when we eventually told her the fish was very dry when she came to clear the plates. Over all a very bad experience even though it was very quiet in there.

I am working away from home.The Harvester is next to my hotel I use it every night,whether just for a drink or for dinner Staff are superb Always made welcome and food is good

Came here Sunday afternoon. The restaurant was half-empty, yet we waited for a while to be acknowledged just to be told that they can't accommodate us (just 2 people) because we didn't have a booking. So if we'd have booked right here and then, it would have been fine for a half-empty restaurant? After this one we went to a different Harvester at Coed-y-Gores to have the worst dining experience I've ever had in terms of customer service. It became apparent that staff are poorly trained in at least two of these restaurants.

Your staff were pleasant and welcoming. Unfortunately not made aware of items not available on menu. My husband and I had to choose twice. The food arrived promptly but 2 out of the 4 meals were cold. And, I mean very cold! The waitress took them back and replaced them, quite quickly. No discount was offered, although we didn’t ask for one. I certainly won’t rush to return to a Harvester.

Poor service !!!.. staff said 20 minutes wait but waited an hour as they forgot about us ..eventually we had a table ..that was not cleaned and no cutlery in the pot ..we waited for service for another half hour and just left 😞 Others were angry too !!!

Salad bar was empty. On the floor and all around by the drinks machine was covered in water from where ice had melted. Order was not complete (albeit a little item was missing), but it seemed like such carnage we thought it wasn’t worth the hassle to ask about it. Main plates were not taken away when desert come out. Salad bowls were dirty.

Food, ok, Christmas pudding cold, custard cold, sent custard back to be heated up, didn't send pudding as it would of been to hard to eat after being heated up. Coffee machine broken couldn't have coffee. Had to keep our coats on, it was very cold in the restaurant. Service excellent, young girl served us, she couldn't do enough for us. Excellent. Salad excellent as always, Christmas Dinner good value for money.

Food was cold, run out of many things, no rolls, asked chef for a burger bun ,said I would have to pay extra,had to wait NO rotisserie chicken ready for 20 minutes. The waitress was it's saving grace , very apologetic and friendly, it was he a hard job with so many things wrong.

Unable to comment on food as we didn't stay. Booked on line, arrived as appointed. Shown to a table for two. Small round table placed in the walkwa. Asked if we could change tables to be told, No. No apology, that's all we have. There were plenty of other tables but apparently they are not for use. Disgusting. Anyway, they will not see any of my money again. Hope Christmas is good as the following months are quiet. .

Food arrived cold, we then got told the blower in the kitchen is blowing cold air and they are waiting for an engineer who should be with them later today. Place could do with cleaning.

An awful visit tonight. Arrived and sat at our table and waited a while to be seen to. Eventually having our orders taken we then got told about the salad bar and after waiting 15 minutes for 2 bowls we then had to get up to find someone for bowls. My partners halloumi was barely Luke warm and my ribs were literally cold and had to be sent back. A new plate arrived and my chips were either burnt or soggy and the corn on the cob was absolutely awful. It was so soft and soggy It was like mushy peas as soon as I took a bite. I left at least half my plate and waitress knew we wasn’t happy with what we’d received so we were very shocked to of been charged full price for such awful food.
