Went for the Valentine's menu food. Nice cosy ambiance. Beautiful food all cooked to perfection. Especially nice is the Raspberry amaretto frangipane tart. Staff always polite, professional & friendly. My favourite place to eat & drink in Barton.

Excellent 3 course Sunday Lunch which was great value. Friendly helpful staff. Good choice for all 3 course. Roast lamb was delicious

Came here for a meal. We were a walk in and proceeded to order drinks at the bar. Asked for a menu and was given this. When we went up to the bar to order we was told that they were not doing food for walk ins as it was too busy, fair enough but would have been nice to have been told when we walked in as we had ordered drinks for nothing. The manager/owner was extremely rude to the waitresses as they had not managed to clear empties of the bar, they were rushed off their feet with orders so they had not had chance. Disgusting attitude from the owner. Perhaps he should of helped instead of having a disgusting attitude. I will not be returning.

We have been here several times and the food was amazing we came today for a friend’s birthday but I think they had new staff all very young they came to us several times as they were confused about drinks twice they had run out of our drinks we finally got them but the second drink for my friend 3 separate girls came and ask which tonic she wanted the food was average the beef was fatty and I had 2 tiny tough slices we had to ask twice for the veg which finally arrived and 10 mins later they came with a tiny dish of cauliflower cheese we had recommended it to our friends but felt let down sorry hope it was just a bad day with the staff

Visited for Sunday lunch with family, was going to order the beef roast dinner but the menu said it was served pink which I don't like , so opted for the lamb thinking it would be fully cooked. When it arrived it was pink, medium rare at best and very hard to cut, very tough like trying to cut leather. When we mentioned it to the waitress she said a few people had complained it was tough, they didn't have the usual chef and things were not going right with the lamb today. But they kept on serving it as we heard the table next to us ordering it a bit later. Offered no discount despite leaving all the meat on the meal. Very disappointing as have had a nice meal here before. Couldn't really understand why if they've had several complains why they kept serving it. Felt like there was a lot of young staff and nobody really taking control of the problem .

Incredible Sunday Roasts all round, very friendly staff. Great deals, £14 for 1 main course, £17 for 2 courses, £21 for 3 courses. Top value.

I went with my friend to the Lebanese evening. I didnt know what to expect but it was delicious! There was so much food. I had the meat option and my friend had the vegetarian option and it was one of the nicest meals I've had for a long time. So good that I've already booked in for the Caribbean night in August!

Had the most amazing gammon steak served with real pineapple slices,lovely chips and homemade coleslaw

It's really good for informal meals: small, regular and large. Although 'small' was chosen by two of us, the third one chose 'regular', which would leave him unfinished.

Do not stay in this dirty family room bedsit. Food is lovely outside picturesque but look at the photos to this review Damp, cold, scruffy, noisy, uncomfortable beds. It needs gutting I wouldn't put my dog in it. Stayed as we attended a family wedding close by never again very disappointed.

We visited the George today in Barton upon Humber for a late lunch having watched the Coronation. We were very, very disappointed and underwhelmed with the food. The meat pie was over cooked swimming in salty processed gravy with watery vegetables. The pulled pork crocquettes were also over cooked, tasteless and felt like you were eating cardboard. The so-called salad was one stem of a pea shot with a small dish of an indescribable sauce. The Bill with drinks came to £49.00. Never again.

Went to a Greek theme food night, 3 courses £25. All food was beautiful & the mains you were served with all dishes of lamb kleftiko, beef stifado, halloumi, lamb chop, lamb kofta, chicken kebab, rice, chips, Greek salad. Also pitta bread with dips, tzaziki & olives. Then choices of puds. Lots of tasty top quality food & well worth the money. Served by hard working professional staff. Beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere. One of the best pub/restaurants in Barton wether you want food or just a drink.

Visited on Sunday 5th February for Sunday lunch. Very decent prices of £12.50 for a Sunday lunch main and the food quality was good too. The service was friendly, but there were a huge amount of staff for the venue and so lots of standing around. Had the 'Stuffed chicken with sausage meat stuffing and chicken gravy, which came with all the trimmings'. Shared a 'Sticky toffee pudding and custard' as a dessert, but it wasn't as good as the main. Would definitely recommend when in the area.

I got married yesterday 4th April 2023.My husband and I stayed here for our wedding night.Our room was upgraded for us.We then had great food and were given a complimentary bottle of prosecco. The staff are exceptional. The rooms are spacious and modern and spotl ess .We will definitely be staying again .Its a wonderful little gem this place ,great value for money

My first meal at the George Inn, Sunday Lunch , we were quite a large group of about 25 . The service was excellent, staff welcoming, the food came nicely presented was piping hot and delicious, large Yorkshire pudding, plenty meat, and choice of veg served in dishes. I did manage pudding, good choice all home made.

Booked table on a Friday night for 6.30 and the bar and restaurant were very busy. We were shown to our table and immediately asked our drinks order. The service was excellent and the food delicious.

We went tonight for valentines meal, few niggles, two tables next to us served way before us despite us ordering before them. When main did arrive my beef was so difficult to cut and even more difficult to chew, however this was noted and quickly resolved and I had a new sea bass meal brought out which was lovely but my husband had finished his meal by then. The owner did compensate us with wine which was appreciated. Unfortunately when we came to pay, the bottle of wine we’d purchased on arrival had been added to the bill. Staff were lovely and the owner did his best to resolve the problems. Overall, would maybe try again but Barton has some better competition based on this experience .

Lovely stay. The triple room was very spacious. The only downside was that the water wasn’t very hot.Clean and friendly place.Breakfast was good with lots of choice and brought to the room. Staff were polite, friendly and accommodating. We would stay again! Very good price also.

Been for Sunday lunch a few times now, so can safely say the quality of the locally sourced food & service is excellent ( one of our party who had eaten at a Michelin star restaurant the previous week, commented that he preferred The George's food). Fresh, locally sourced and excellent value food, served by charming staff. Can't fault this place, will be back for many more meals.

We ate probably one of the best meals we've ever had at Harrisons last night. I'm sure you know the feeling, when you are still thinking about how good it was the following day. It was superb in every aspect. I started with the rabbit spring roll - beautiful texture with a rich, gamey taste in a crisp roll, served piping hot. For mains I chose the filet steak, medium rare, with a Diane sauce. The chips were chunky, crisp on the outer, soft and fluffy on the inside. I'm racking my brains but I can't think of a better steak I've had, a superb cut of meat perfectly cooked. I don't know whether to congratulate the chef or the butcher. Or the owner who brought them together. We were told that the chef's new, well if he turns food like this out consistently, I can only imagine it'll be difficult to book a table. My wife started with the garlic soup, which she loved, and also had a perfectly cooked filet steak as mains. The sound of the special dessert, with espresso ice cream sounded sumptuous, but we couldn't manage one, even to share.Service was great, someone always on hand, polite and helpful.

I came to The George Inn with my mum and husband for lunch. We came for the meat free Monday deal & I had the Tikka Dhal curry (made vegan) and it was incredible! The flavors were perfect and everyone tried some and had to agree it was beautiful. 10 out of 10 ✌️ thank you again for another great meal.

Had a lovely lunch at the George Inn, the other day. Can only say the food quality is well above your average Pub grub. My wife had the 10oz rump and she said it was one of the best steaks she'd eaten. Lovely and tender cooked to perfection. I had the gammon steak and I must say it was superb. Again cooked to perfection, melt in tte mouth with a fine black pudding crumb over the fried egg. Nice chips. I would have no reservation in recommending this place for the food. On the negative side the interior could do with a spruce up and I noticed a few dog hairs under our table. They were also very obliging in changing the chips with the steak for a jacket potato.

This is the first time we have eaten out on Xmas day and The George didn’t disappoint, superb meal and fantastic service, every dish was well presented and cooked to perfection and tasted even better, our picky teenagers were also accommodated without any fuss, thank you so much for a special experience and one we will repeat and to everyone who gave up their day to make ours so stress free

Great food and service. My Dog Pup especially enjoyed his meal the All Day Breakfast. Really love the fact you welcome and cater for Dogs too. Thank for making our evening an enjoyable one. I really enjoyed the Ostrich Burger. We will definitely be returning. Thanks everyone.

My wife Kathleen and I paid a visit yet again to the wonderful old George hotel for lunch on Christmas Eve 2019, we certainly wasn't disappointed as always. On arrival we were greeted with a wonderful Christmas atmosphere, and very helpful welcoming staff. we sat in the cosy bar, and enjoyed a nice drink before choosing our Delicious steak pies for lunch. The pies (courtesy of HULL PIES the best steak pies you will ever taste) came with a choice of hand cut chips or creamy mash, and fresh veg accompanied with The George's unique delicious gravy. It really was a meal to remember, also not forgetting the George has a very wide variety of choices on the menu with many more choices including sweets on the special board. the cost is a bargain when you remember all food freshly prepared just for you. so to sum up...... we will be back again very soon.

Visited with parents fir our Christmas get together. 4 adults and one toddler. We all chose the roast dinner, 1 Turkey and 3 beef. Our son had a small version of the roast.

I thought I'd died and gone to heaven - Tim Taylor's Landlord alongside a perfectly cooked haddock, chip and mushy peas. Absolutely beautiful food and a fantastic combination. Service was top notch and the pub itself had the 'classic' British feel to it. We'll be back, for sure.

Just got back from a Sunday roast with my two children. What to say;

We booked a table of nine to celebrate a family birthday. Each course was brought out with a sensible time between them so you neither felt rushed or that you were waiting too long. The dishes were superb, lovely to have them explained to us to, ie where the ingredients were sourced from. The smoked salmon with horseradish and beetroot and the scotch egg were my particular favourites although we all commented that every dish was excellent.

This was our second visit and once again it was excellent. Food cooked to perfection and I am very fussy as to my steak being rare . Service was spot on with friendly staff enjoying a bit of a banter but still retaining their professionalism. We will certainly be back and will be happy to recommend to friends

We thoroughly enjoyed our taster menu meal here. The service and quality/presentation of the food was superb. The portions were very generous for a taster course. When each course came out, we were given a thorough description by the waitress on what they consisted of. She went out of her way to make sure we really enjoyed our evening. All in all a great meal and very good value. Highly recommended.

Excellant food and atmosphere and first class service from Lee and the chef cooked our order to perfection, This is the 1st time we have been since they relocated and it has been decorated to a really good standard will be back again soon.

My new fiancé and I can’t rate this place enough. I decided yesterday to ask my gf to marry me (I already had it planned for elsewhere next month) stumbled across this place online thought sod it I will do it tonight!

The service was excellent, friendly and helpful staff. Meal was served quickly and was excellent quality. Very good value for money. The George is an old building which is very well maintained and welcoming. Would definitely visit again.

My wife Kathleen and I re- visited The George Inn remember our enjoyable visit a few short weeks ago, we were greeted with a warm welcome from Lee and the lovely staff. We all decided to choose from from the light bite menu, although there are excellent choices from the main menu. 2 of our friends chose home made smoked haddock fish cakes with home made chips and peas, I chose the fresh battered haddock, chips and garden peas and "only" £6.00 with the fish cakes being £6.50 each, and generous helpings. All meals were excellent, cooked to order and not long to wait. The George has a lovely homely feel to it and have pleasure in highly recommending it, just a final note, Barton folk are very fortunate having The George Inn as their local eating and drinking place.

Absolutely brilliant place! So friendly and welcoming! Amazing device with a smile , despite the internet being down and the tills not working . Really good food even went off menu for my husband ! As for the dog treats and menu ! Very well priced and served . We will definitely be back !

Harrisons was one of my favourite restaurants and been many times and never disappointed, so I was very happy when Harrisons took over The George Inn. Went over a wk ago with friends for my birthday 18th which was also a quiz night. We got a complimentary piece of bread & flavoured butter which is a nice touch. All our starters & mains were beautiful. I was just disappointed as I had wanted a pudding that I always love to eat at Harrisons & unfortunately it was the 1 pudding unavailable. I was so looking forward to the Frangipan tart with chantilly cream all day. Maybe next time.

We had a great meal last night at The George to celebrate our 46th wedding anniversary with our sons. Everyone had something different - fillet steak, sous vide steak, scampi and chicken and the starters and desserts were divine. The service and staff were excellent and Pete is to be congratulated on his chef wizadry and for doing such great things with The George Inn to get it up and running again in Barton. Thank you all.

A group of us were staying in the area and were looking for somewhere to eat that had vegan options and we could take our 4 dogs..The George was perfect for us. The owner was so welcoming and friendly, we really felt the dogs weren’t just accepted but wanted :) They were also very accommodating of vegans, had several options and even made us dessert which wasn’t listed (which was amazing!) The dogs loved their dinners (chicken casserole and fish and rice) even the fussy ones emptied their bowls, with a bit of help from the non-fussy ones..We had a lovely night all humans and furry friends left very full and happy.

Following a visit to Lincolnshire show we thought we would visit the George in Barton-upon-Humber for some Tea. What a cracking end to the day. A much needed pint of Maltsmiths IPA and the TGI burger for me, Red wine and chicken stroganoff for the wife. Both were excellent. The staff are well mannered conscientious and helpful. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, we will defiantly be visiting again soon

I called in this morning, I was in need of a drink and a snack as I was a bit “under the weather”

Had a lovely evening in the George last night. The food, drink and service were all excellent. A delicious chicken stroganoff, tender steak and a tasty veggie burger made eating out in Barton a treat!

We have visited the George May times since it reopened and the welcome, food and atmosphere have never failed to impress. Yesterday’s Gin night was exceptional, the Gin’s paired with the food complemented each other perfectly. We had a wonderful evening.

We went here at about 7.30 as it said they served food until 9pm. We double checked with a waitress that food was still on and was told yes but 30 mins wait. We said this was fine and went to get drinks. Hubby then asked at the bar for a menu and was told the kitchen was closed.

Tried Harrison's in their new premises, as good as ever. Also an innovative offering on the bar menu. "A lite bite in a pint beer mug", great idea well executed. Get in there and enjoy !!!

Visited with family and the dog! Very friendly. Special dog menu ( had fish and rice) - humans had fish and chips. Food was lovely, very good portions and prompt, friendly service. Nice atmosphere. Definitely recommended.

Good to see The George has reopened under the Harrisons brand. First visit and must give a very favourable opinion. Everything was very good. Restaurant quality, pub food. Very well presented.

The newly re opened George Inn is a nice building, plenty of room inside and worthy of a good team to run it. I have eaten at the original Harrisons and wasnt overly impressed, but thought i would give them a chance at the new George Inn premises, unfortunately the same story. Ordered chicken stroganoff from the menu, very small portion and wasnt as expected, almost as if certain ingredients were used in a miserly fashion, came with about ten chips and a side dish of veg, a special note has to be made here for the broccoli, each piece was about the size of a pea, obviously trimmed to within an inch of its life to make the stalk last for many meals. Overpriced and underwhelmed.

So relieved that the the George has reopened, and it couldn't reopened with anyone better than Harrison's.

Waiting at the bar - person who arrived at the bar much later than us served before us - my husband made his feelings known - bar staff then completely ignored us serving other customers. We ended up walking out and spent out money elsewhere. Won’t be back. Pity as original Harrison’s was fabulous

Went last night for a meal with my good lady. The staff were excellent and catered for her food allergy without any issue. The chef gave it personal attention and my steak was amazing. Well gone all what a great place you have. Will definitely be back

So disappointed with our visit on Saturday night 4th of May. When we arrived to the Harrisons @ The George Inn we asked at the bar if they serve the food and bartender said yes so we went to the restaurant part of the Harrisons and no one else was there we asked one of the waitresses if we can have a table and order food and she said No. She said they don’t serve food in the restaurant only in the bar however there was no free tables/seats there so we finished our drinks ordered when we walked in and we left and went to different restaurant.

Thankfully The George Inn has now been taken over by Pete and his great team.

Five of us went to Harrison’s on Saturday evening. It was lovely the atmosphere was really nice, the service was great and food was faultless. We all had 3 courses and there wasn’t a crumb left. Our relatives were visiting for the weekend from Staffordshire and we were all so impressed. Very disappointed with myself for not going before! Let’s hope it’s as good if not better when they move toThe George, good luck on your new venture and we will be seeing you soon.

Called this lunch time and both had the £5 lunch special of sausage and mash and fresh veg. Just like home cooked, veg all fresh and hot, sausages very tasty. Would definitely recommend.

It is hard to find a restaurant who can deal with allergies in a good manner, this place does it in a bat of an eye without any fuss! As they make everything fresh so they can work with any allergy or intolerance! The atmosphere and staff are amazing and I will always recommend this place! Thank you for everything!

So disappointed with our visit last night. No one else in the restaurant when we arrived. Chose Gin drinks while we perused the menu, but they all came with the same tonic, not as chosen from the drinks menu and not even a slice of lemon. The food took a fair time to come and no lovely bread as we normally have. My Son’s burgers were lovely but my Belly Pork was a let down- not crispy at all and could really have been complimented by a side of vegetables. The dessert menu had not been amended correctly- The Spotted Dick description had chocolate orange, so sounded like a twist on the original but turned out that was a different dessert of Chocolate Orange bread and butter pudding. When I told the waitress she simply said “thanks for pointing it out.”

We were a group of six friends who dined here last evening, our first time dining out as a group rather than in our homes. We found it was the perfect place for us in terms of the ‘big three’, namely quality of food, service and ambience.

We had a very enjoyable Sunday lunch. The beef was tender and pink with tasty gravy and Yorkshire pudding. The selection of vegetables was excellent. In separate dishes we had mashed root veg, cauliflower cheese, roast parsnips with potatoes and peas, leeks with carrots.
