Hardys Farm Shop in Newark and Sherwood

We visited here on a detour to Skegness (don't ask 🙈) stopped for breakfast and to use the facilities. Lovely place, helpful, cheerful staff. We had the cooked breakfast which was well cooked and presented. Average prices. Would eat here again. Sorry no photos as forgot to take any!

Counter service is really slow, and worst of all tea is made in a mug - not a teapot!!! What is the matter with café owners these days....not everyone likes their tea made in the mug!! 🤨

Fabulous sausage butty this morning,you need to visit, very Friendly staff ,we visit often. garden centre as well & Farm shop .plenty of parking outside ,toilets inside .5 star place .

Went for afternoon tea today scones were ok but the sandwiches were not great at all the bread was stale and verry disappointing as we were all looking forward to this for months 😞

Fabulous for coffee and breakfast. Some great farm produce as well. Recommended.

We ordered tea and a coffee. Tea was great. A big cup of hot tea. The coffee was tepid. So I took it back to be replaced by another cup of tepid coffee. Tiniest cup of coffee I ever saw. Not a great experience, but the staff were friendly and pleasant.

Met family here as a central location for a Sunday morning breakfast. Service was fast and fair priced. All nice food and well cooked. Friendly staff and top points for being dog friendly!!

Polite and helpful staff. Restaurant was a bit drafty,and the gammon steak was a bit chewy. Prices reasonable. Over all ok.

Well I haven't been for many years. Visited last week as in the area (,sort of). It's better than it was years ago and seems bit larger than what I remember. Cafe menu looked ok. Did buy bits but didn't really get me wanting to make special journey. Quite nice things in freezer dept. BUT items not priced individually. They are listed on piece of paper on door of freezer. By the time you found that, then looked for item you were interested in, well it was a step too far. There were some nice looking items in there so was a pity to have to do all this. If you are passing pay a visit is my advice. You never know....

We came in here as a family for breakfast but soon left after being told there was a charge for boiling water in a bottle!

REVAMPED! Spacious, friendly and REAL COFFEE ( rare to find) good menu. Visited 22nd November still great coffee BUT I was refused a selection of breakfast items to suit my diet because it’s not allowed! Spent some time trying to get round this ( I had already ordered a vegetarian breakfast for my husband with SCRAMBLED egg. ) a little of time spent juggling with the till!! FINALLY they caught on that I had ordered a PROPER meal and they decided I could have the extras on a separate plate. My husbands meal arrived with FRIED eggs with raw yolks (not healthy). Sent back and finally got what we wanted. And I have a loyalty card! Friendly enough but staff are having to stick to silly rules risking upsetting customers. Oh, and they are not frying the mushrooms, that really annoys me! Not sure what they do with em but they’re not nice. They fry plenty of other stuff for breakfasts. A good start here but it’s slipping.

A decent display but no spring bulbs for November planting...

Good location spoilt by Cafe, no seating due to being loved by Mrs Bucket and friends, the food is good, the service dire looks like they only clear tables when running out of pots. The other shops on site are good with knowledgeable staff running them. Garden Centre a proper one not full of other goods, the butcher very good. Also NO Disabled toilet facilities.

Beef bourguignon and a cappuccino, both of which were excellent! The bourguignon was very beef rich and a welcome surprise compared to most restaurants where it would be very vegetable heavy. The food was great and service better. I’m not a fan of 200 degrees coffee but it was very pleasant. An awfully enjoyable experience.

Lovely place and very well priced

We went on a Wednesday morning for breakfast and to buy some bits from the pet food area and some compost. The breakfast was spot on, we really enjoyed it. The staff were all very friendly. We will go again.

A really good coffee stop for me on a route I often travel. Scones are excellent in the cafe - ask for them warm. Amazing food shop. Plus animals to look at on a fine day!

Prices are extortionate for the breakfast that you get. £9 for a breakfast that has frozen hash brown,1 frozen looking sausage not even a farm sausage and not even a drink included. Won’t be coming back or recommending.

Fantastic breakfast, good coffee and great staff.

Ordered two vegetarian breakfasts and both were served with meat sausages. The owner came to ‘help’ and was polite to start with then, unfortunately decided to be rude. Would not recommend at all. Added after reply, a detailed list of vegetarian sausages means nothing when these were NOT what were served. We were both served meat sausages on our breakfasts. My husband - not a vegetarian tried a little of one and confirmed it was meat. They also looked and smelled like meat. There has clearly been a mix up. I would suggest that rather than being defensive both on here, and in person yesterday you look into why this happened. It’s distressing to be served meat when you have been a vegetarian for 31 years too. No offer of an apology or consideration that you and your staff may be wrong is absolutely no way to run a business.

Our Newark Ladies Coffee Social Group met there today and everyone loved it Garden Room very nice and airy, with views of the "wildlife". Service and food excellent, friendly service.

A great farm shop with lots of great value products to choose from. The Cafe serves up great coffee, cakes, scones, breakfasts and hot meals. The staff are all very friendly courteous. Great nursery for plants well stocked.

Went couple of years ago. Not bad. Now looking great. New coffee and cake/ Restaurant great lovely meal. Now got a second hand shop upstairs. Found a couple of nice things. Also good garden centre and farm shop. Thanks again Phil.

Excellent breakfast and cafeteria is clean and pleasant staff , however beware if you are disabled as there are NO disabled facilities. !. Would have been 5 stars but were offended by the discrimination.

Hardy's Farm Shop has changed out of all recognition. The butcher has gone but there are chiller cabinets for your meat supply. There are check out tills with the delicatessen a serving area. The fruit and vegetable area is now larger. There are sundry display areas . The cafe has been revamped and we often enjoy a coffee there. Liz's Garden Centre is still there providing good value for money.

Amazing afternoon tea, staff so helpful and friendly

I honestly cant thank Callum in the cafe enough for today 😊🌟 I had originally booked afternoon tea for my mum elsewhere in Newark today for her birthday to which they let me down [with a story behind this] when I arrived at the venue to which we left. I phoned Hardys farm at around 2:30pm and after explaining what had happened he was able to squeeze me in and got me and afternoon tea ready for just after 3pm. I honestly cant thank you guys enough. It was an AMAZING afternoon - the best we have had 🥰 Thank you again!! Definitely recommend🌟🌟 [Sorry wont let me add the photos😫]

The cafe is decent, we had tea and coffee. A baked potatoe and a toasted sandwich. All was nice. Asked for the sandwich to be on brown bread. But white bread was used. Our warm scone was nice but, not enough fruit in it. Otherwise it would of been a 5 star.

I lived in Farndon and shopped regularly at Hardys farm shop and I have never been treated the way I have today the staff were not interested in helping me at all so will not go their again for a while such a shame as have shopped their for a long time 😞 😢

There's a good selection of food and produce it's just a little on the expensive side. Went to get a 'normal' loaf of bread and cost nearly £3. The garden centre part is very good as well, a lot of selection and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

What a fantastic evening at the Greek night last night. Holly and the ladies did a brilliant job, amazing food, atmosphere and entertainment. Would highly recommend, can't wait to see what's next 😊 x

Fantastic choice of fresh fruit and veg, homemade cakes, a deli section and lots of other goodies. Cafe there too although we didn’t try it on this occasion. We’ll be back for more.

This place has definitely made an effort to go more up market with a refurbished and new deli section. There is everything from fruit and veg to a range of ice creams. I picked up a ready made cheese and onion cob and egg mayo, quiche from the chilled section, posh sausage rolls that were excellent and smoked garlic. The cafe is basic, but you get good food and it has a nice atmosphere.

This was a Groupon Afternoon Tea visit. And we couldn't recommend it more highly. My goodness !! Really tasty sandwiches (plenty of filling choices). Amazing home cooked scones. Far too much cake (boxed up and taken home), catered for one veggie too. Lovely staff, friendly proprietor, we'll definitely be returning.

This place is a gem; don't miss it!!!Afternoon tea for four. Fantastic service, food choice and so much of it that we took 6 boxes home. Everything clean, tidy and cleaned regularly. Farm Shop and small nursery at reasonable prices attached with an antique/second hand shop on the upper floor. Will certainly come back.

Popped in for a light take away lunch. Great prices the food is delicious. Staff couldn't be nicer as I dropped a sausage roll which was swiftly replaced by the lady serving me. Too kind! I'll be back.

Cafe did me an excellent bacon cob, and the other breakfast options look good. Could usefully add some outdoor tables for cyclists.

You could happily spend a couple of hours here,upstairs you have antiques bric a brac and tools,downstairs you have in the back a well stocked garden centre,then we have the butchers with pie’s and cakes made on the premises and finally the cafe all reasonably priced,but don’t forget it’s a farm shop so don’t expect five star ambience,I would certainlyVisit again

I visited the farm shop today whilst visiting friends in the area. Lovely produce and great garden centre, although I cannot say the same about the two members of staff in the farm shop who were behind the counter talking. I felt that I was an imposition to the two girls whilst waiting to be served and found them to be quite rude. It is such a shame as the farm shop was so lovely but I do feel that if I lived in the area (or visit my friend again) I would honestly think twice before returning to the shop.

Was very pleasantly surprised that I could order whatever I wanted from the cafe menu as a take-out (weather too nice to eat indoors). I chose a plant based burger with sweet potato fries and it was so fresh and delicious. The take out container was also made from sugar cane and fully compostable which is fantastic. The staff were really friendly. I'll definitely be ordering from the cafe again as well as more bits from the main shop. Absolutely recommend.

Love coming here and the Corner cafe is always a must . So pleased it's reopened again.

This place has gotten so much better this past few years , there is some great local produce , reasonably priced , the emporium upstairs is great for curiosity bits and lizzy's garden centre is simply brilliant ! Great place to go !
