Four of us came here on a Thursday morning for coffee. Quickly seated and given menus. As we wanted coffees we also chose cakes, lovely selection. Three of us had Lemon Drizzle cake and one Cheesecake. Coffees and cakes were delicious, generous portions. Friendly staff. Will definitely be back when next in the area.

A well needed catch up with a mate I’ve not seen in about a year! Back up to Lossiemouth again for a course, following a new posting down south, I’d forgotten how charming and original the Harbour Lights restaurant was. The location, overlooking the Moray Firth and Lossiemouth East Beach, is something you just don’t forget! We both ordered the Venison Burger (with a House Coleslaw and Chips included = £16.00), accompanied by two drinks. An enjoyable meal overall - the Venison was cooked well, the portion of Chips was hefty and the House Coleslaw was a nice addition (and very purple in colour)! Lovely service, lively atmosphere and scenic views, all at a reasonable cost. Good to be back!

Very cute spot in the harbour, I had the Special of the Day - Seafood platter and all the ingredients in it were very fresh and tasty, I could taste the “sea”. Meal accompanied by a glass of Sauvignon blanc made it perfect! I would defo come back if I should ever return in this cute coastal town. Perfect spot for families or groups of friend due the wide seating areas, would also work for a quick brunch with a harbour view!

I recently enjoyed a delightful breakfast at the Harbour Lights Cafe in Lossiemouth. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was friendly and efficient. The cooked breakfast was absolutely delicious, with perfectly cooked eggs, bacon, and hearty sausages. The portion sizes were generous, and the presentation was lovely. The stunning view of the harbor added to the overall experience, making it a truly memorable meal. I highly recommend this cafe for anyone looking for a delicious breakfast in a charming seaside setting!

Recently visited while in Lossiemouth with family. We weren’t sure to have lunch or just coffee/cake which seemed to irk the waitress, who was miserable throughout. The cakes and drinks a high standard that said. I’m prepared to give this place the benefit of the doubt but the manager should ensure the staff are a more courteous and welcoming to patrons. It’s located by the harbour side and seemed popular.

Stopped here for lunch based on reviews, the place was very busy, service & staff were very good, can not fault that, sadly that’s were it ends, had a few drinks & the seafood platter!! If you know your fish from your fingers then don’t be disappointed like we were, bought in ready made from wholesale supplier, prawn cocktail ( ready made sandwich filler) crayfish tails ( spooned out of a tub) smoked salmon, chilli prawns ….like the rubber ones you buy in a supermarket , mussels were very dry & no evidence of them having been cooked in white wine & garlic!! The fish goujons in breadcrumbs was definitely over cooked , definitely a rip off at £26! Would happily pay that for fresh seafood, such a shame as fresh seafood is abundant on their doorstep

Booked here after reading the good reviews. It is in a nice location looking onto the harbour and was busy when we arrived. I choose the Kedgeree, which was very tasty, husband choose the fish platter which was very disappointing, overpriced for what you were served. Looking for Lunch on a sunny Lossiemouth day, Harbour Lights looked ideal, as we were able to sit outside, this, clearly popular eatery! We received a nice welcome from the first Staff Member we met, and, indeed, all the others, who served us were efficient and charming. My wife chose the Cullen Skink, which she very much enjoyed, whilst I chose the Steak and Cheese Ciabatta Sandwich, with which I was, sadly quite disappointed. Nothing wrong with the Steak, but the Ciabatta was rather doughy, and possibly would have benefitted from being toasted, whilst the Cheese hardly noticeable! The Dish was accompanied by a fairly mean amount of Potato Crisps, one half of a Cherry Tomato and a few Rocket Leaves - underwhelming to say the least! Our drinks consisted of a recommended 175mm Glass of Picpoul and a 500ml Bottle of Windswept Blonde, plus one Double Espresso, all a tad overpriced, in my opinion, but not being familiar with this area of Scotland, these prices may well be par for the course! To summarise, then, the Service was very efficient and our Servers polite and friendly, the Cullen Skink, top notch, the Steak Sandwich disappointing and the drinks expensive!

I debated delaying my review, yet after seeing I was not the first to receive such a similar experience, I decided I would share. Let me first say that I have been in Scotland for 2.5 weeks, a week of which was spent in Glasgow, yet this was the morning of my first day in Lossiemouth. I arrived just after opening and was the first customer, seated at a nice table for a solo traveler, by one of 2 people who had greeted me when I came in. The younger of the 2 by whom I had been greeted is who ended up 'taking care of' my table. I ordered a simple breakfast with coffee, which arrived in a very small cup. Mind you, this cup was £3. As I drank my coffee, I listened, the entire time, to my server talk about plans she was making for what I'm assuming is a wedding or some other event. At no point was I offered more coffee or asked if there was anything else I needed. Eventually, I got up & walked outside where she was still talking and asked for more coffee, as well as a water. Even having had to go find her and ask, I was never approached and asked if there was anything I needed, wanted more coffee, etc...the server must have walked past my table at least 10x, never once even looking at me. I watched her check on other tables, yet I saw the other servers being attentive to their tables. The 2 cups of coffee I had were equivalent to maybe one normal cup & I wanted to have a cappuccino yet did not feel right spending any more money here, so I simply paid my bill and left. I don't know who my server was, as she did not introduce herself, yet I don't think she should be front of house, at least until her 'big party' is sorted out and she's not so distracted. I've dined in multiple locations over the past 2.5 weeks, and it disappoints me to have to write this review as my first and hopefully only poor review.

Such a shame. Whilst the food and atmosphere were both excellent, the Harbour Lights was let down by the service. To clarify, two out of the three ladies who served us were lovely and helpful, however the third greeted us at the door in a curt fashion whilst checking her watch and led us to our table without a word. Having finished the meal we requested a couple more drinks from the same lady who once again checked her watch and left without comment. We subsequently noticed that the establishment was in the process of closing for the afternoon and apologised to another waitress for being a nuisance. She answered by saying that it was absolutely no problem at all, which we felt was the correct way to respond. The rude waitress should not be working at 'front of house' and should not be waiting at tables with such a poor attitude.. A simple 'sorry but we're about to close' would have been a more appropriate and acceptable reply to our request. Checking her watch and leading us silently to our table most certainly was not. It's a pity we were left with a feeling that we were merely being tolerated, especially when the atmosphere, location, food and approach by MOST of the staff was so nice. Sadly the whole experience was a disappointment due to one individuals attitude. We only went for lunch and would have returned for dinner had we been greeted and served in a more pleasant manner. I doubt we'll be back. Visit at around 3pm on Sept 29th 2023

We went to the Harbour Lights Cafe as a family for lunch. Sadly we were quite disappointed with the food. We had to return 1 order as it was cold. One of our guests ordered the fish platter, she said for what was on the platter it was not worth the money. Hubby ordered a scone with clotted cream, he said it definitely was not clotted cream. Lovely afternoon. Had not booked but tables out front vacant. Had been before more than once so quite confident to sit down and place an order for two Americano coffees. This was on the menu and the reason why we did not order anything to eat was because we already had a booking for 6pm elsewhere. I ordered a hot choc with marshmallows and cream and as the menu, was in my mind, limited for a fussy vegetarian, I managed side orders of toast, potato scone and beans. The bill came to £10.20 which I thought was a bit steep as the hot chocolate cup was quite small as were the portions of food. Everything tasted good but disappointed in the amount, or charge less and I’d be happy with the amount!

Late lunch sat outside in the sunshine. We had the local fresh haddock and a smoked haddock kedgeree. Food was excellent and good quick service. Soft drinks a little expensive but overall good value.

Me and my colleague usually go there when we are off for lunch. Definitely one of our favourite places where you can go for good lunch. I was there couple time for breakfast too and I can only recommend this lovely restaurant. Very friendly, helpful and professional staff. Service is excellent. I always enjoy goat cheese souffle there but their menu is full of great choices. When weather is nice you can sit outside and enjoy a lovely view of harbour with glass of something what you fancy.
