Harbour Bar in Scarborough

By far one of the best desert/ice cream places we have visited. Portion sizes are generous and the prices are very reasonable for what you get. Staff are cheerful and friendly and add to the wonderful atmosphere.

I'm dairy free. Only dairy free here is sorbet. Really disappointed as so many dairy free alternatives nowadays. Didn't buy anything

Got ice creams to take away today. My son is allergic to nuts. We opted for whippy ice cream in a tub for him.The assistant put on fresh gloves, got a tub from a new box and even opened a fresh pack of spoons to avoid cross contamination. Very impressed. Will be our place to go to in Scarborough. Thank you.

Lovely retro place, coffee and milkshakes are very nice

Not changed since I was a kid but always great. Hot drinks to warm you through on a cold winter's day and super sundaes with gorgeous creamy ice cream.

It's a bit pricey (expensive really) but it's definitely top quality and a must do when in Scarborough! The staff are always very friendly and it's spotlessly clean. It's a must visit if you're in town!

Absolutely love this gem of a place! We had to stop by for old times sake! The menu is packed with flavour, literally! Highly recommended!

Food is usually good here but as for most of the miserable faces of some staff it's enough to put us off going again, yes it's Christmas and they've had to work but we've all been there and when you're serving the public at least pretend you're happy to see them. Just one young lady was very smiley so well done to her. Won't be rushing back.

Shocking. We use to come here every Sunday morning so decided to take the kids on boxing day morning. We arrived 9.40 stood at the counter to order for 10 minutes ordered a waffle a milkshake a tea and a coffee to be told ten minutes later they stopped serving waffles at 10 even though we were stood there before 10am. We then tried to order a sundae which is what they are known for again don't serve after 10am. It was wasn't particularly busy all they were offering was drinks with alcohol In them. Won't be going again . Very poor.

A must visit when in Scarborough. Quirky retro American ice cream parlour on the sea front with amazing ice creams, sundaes as well as other tasty snack options. If you have a small appetite and want something savoury and sweet I find the kid's sandwich and milkshake combo delightful.

The best place to get a light lunch followed by a scrumptious ice cream! If you haven’t already tried, you definitely should give it a go!

I have been coming here for at least 55 years for her Horlicks and toasted teacake . And my children are doing the same . Best cafe in Yorkshire keep up the good work 👍😎🥰

I absolutely love this place, really good food at a decent price. I bought a Bacon and Egg sandwich and I have to say it is one of the best Bacon and Egg sandwiches I've had in a while. Also the ice cream is absolutely amazing and nothing else like it.

One of the main reasons I visit scarborough every year. The decor, atmosphere but most importantly the delicious ice cream are all amazing. I recommend the chocolata.

Great place to go for a coffee or a sandwich or an ice cream. Decor and menu hasn't changed in 50 years but it is still nice.

Sundaes are amazing, also stoked to know they have Bovril on the menu for when it's pouring rain and freezing cold! Staff were lovely when we visited. It's fun to sit at the bar and watch them make the milkshakes and sundaes. We live miles and miles away but if we ever return to Scarborough we'd definitely be back to this place.

I used to buy a Knickerbocker glory here when they were only HALF A CROWN. Now they are a bit more expensive but the are still as good. This is the place to buy ice creams in Scarborough. It spotless, shining with glass and chrome. Lovely staff and lots of room. REMEMBER. THE BEST ICE CREAM THE BEST BY FAR IS THE HARBOUR BRAND FROM THE HARBOUR BAR! Thank you

As remembered as a child Horlicks !! Toasted cheese and ham sandwich fabulous !! Then the next day we came back for knickerbocker glories Eaton mess and bananaramma , absolutely fabulous !! And all the staff were so lovely patient and kind , do yourselves a favour and go to the harbour bar !!❤️

Visited Scarborough for a holiday back in the 70s (Butlins Filey) - a fond memory of my Nan and the magnificent Knickerbocker glory she had back then. 50 years on I have returned for a holiday as an adult - so pleased to see this iconic establishment still thriving and serving up the most delicious ice cream. So much choice and reasonable prices - I feel the need to visit again tomorrow! Treat yourself, you will not be disappointed!

Best place to buy a ice cream in Scarbough 😋. Extra care was taken for my son’s severe nuts allergy. Jodie was fantastic, patience and took extreme care by opening a new box of cornets, washed her hands before making his ice cream. Thank you Jodie we both loved our huge 💖

Amazing variety of soft whip style ice creams

The place for ice creams in Scarborough. Visited twice during this holiday - 3 cones with flakes (2 in each!) £6.60 / bargain. Staff are always great and today ordered a knickerbocker glory and a sofa float at the bar. Milly the server was happy to also order cones from the front stand for us. Fantastic. Always put customer front and centre. Shame 6 stars can’t be awarded!

Absloutly beautiful! We go every year and it never let's us down. Reasonable prices! The 1950s parlour is bright and cheerfull! The staff are amazing kind and help each other wonderfull experience all round! Thank you so much!

Great ice cream, sundaes and waffles at really good prices. Highly recommend sitting inside for the full experience. Slightly let down by the staff all congregating for a chat whilst people were waiting to be served.

Loved the interior, ice cream was lovely. Service was quick too with there being 8 of us.

We make a trip here every time we're in Scarborough and it's always delicious. A mega menu of delicious options! And not excessively expensive and a nice spot to watch the people walk by. Staff were nice, bathrooms were clean. Love this place ☺️

First visit here. It looked like a 1950s ice cream parlour and the 2 ice cream sundaes we had were huge - and very nice. Not the cheapest ice cream but we'll definitely be back for a treat in the next heatwave.

We treated ourselves to a sundae. Did not disappoint. All thoroughly enjoyed what we had. Chocoloata Cherie amour and Eton mess.

What an awesome find, I couldn't give more higher compliments on the amazing staff here. They were so, so busy, but everyone knew what they were doing ensuring customers were served promptly and ice cream sundaes etc arriving really impressively swift. The prices were reasonable considering the amazing ice creams....our daughter would quite easily live here!!! A must when visiting Scarborough.

I mean just bloody wow, this ice cream is insanely big, but but but, the Banana ice cream I had, I mean just wow, go grab one.

We visited before leaving Scarborough after a 3 night stay, which finished off our holiday perfectly with some refreshing desserts. We went for a pineapple milkshake, having this for the first time, of course it was sweet, but definitely tasted great. For desserts we went for a classic Knickerbocker glory & a Waffle with strawberries, bananas, chocolate, cream with chocolate biscuits on top. Both tasted great, & definitely value for money.

This is a must when visiting Scarborough. Hard to choose what to have

Scarborough institution. I've been coming here for years without any complaints. However, they charge £3 for a black coffee which is just cheap instant stuff. There is no excuse to not serve proper coffee in 2022.

Very clean and very friendly place

Been an occasional visitor to the Harbour Bar for over 40yrs now; the sundaes, shakes, piping hot mugs of coffee, floats and waffles are all terrific. But to say the place has a history and meaning beyond what it sells, would be somewhat of an understatement. I’m sure I’m not alone in having so many great memories tied to the place. It’s a true institution and a great reminder of how important simple pleasures are in life. I hope it always remains so.
