We ordered a Chinese mixed box. Phoned up the order to collect it was ready in 15 minutes. Piping hot and delicious. Would highly recommend it. Will definitely order again.

Food has always been good from here but last night it was terrible wife had chicken that was slimy and I had prawns which tasted strong like they was on the turn. I think it must have been another chef because it all was not cooked enough very disappointing food won’t use again till it’s sorted.

They’re barely open! The website says one thing you call and they’re shut even when the website says they’re open! Used this place for 20 years + but since the takeover it’s badly run.

Used to be fantastic when the original family had the business, quickly went downhill when it changed hands.

Not great. Flavours were not distinct. Very greasy. Chicken rubbery. Chips seemed reheated in a microwave. Expected better for the price paid :-(

We’ve not had a Chinese for about 3 months due to every single one been rubbish .So Saturday night decided to give happy village a try On Rockingham road Swinton Got to be the best Chinese we’ve had in a lot of years fantastic food great service would definitely recommend this is now our go to Chinese forget about all the others

Shocking place £37.00 for our order and half of food wasnt there food and sauces were disgusting curry tasted like water special curry had fish in it never again will we go there

Just ordered chicken fried rice, chips and curry sauce. And can honestly say it was the worst Chinese I’ve ever had. All the food was bland and over cooked. Rice burnt, curry sauce was thick like it had been sat in a pan for days and chips tasted re heated. Really disappointed as other people’s reviews are quite good

We’ve been ordering from the Happy Village for 20 years and have never had a bad meal. The special fried rice is a particular favourite and the owners are very polite, helpful and extremely friendly. Love this place and highly recommend it!

This is our local Chinese take away and I can’t recommend the food enough. Every meal I have had from Happy Village has been delicious, and speedy. They don’t deliver and they don’t take debit/credit cards but don’t let that put you off the food is beautiful. Great food, great customer service and lovely staff.

The teen at happy village have always been very accomodating. We often ask for slight variations on standard dishes and they are happy to make these for us. We're also very happy to see bean curd on the menu now. The lady who serves at the counter is absolutely lovely. She is very good with children and we always leave happy with big smiles on our faces.

This is the Chinese takeaway we use regularly as can always rely on a good meal and friendly service. Didn't give 5 stars because they don't have a delivery service and close relatively early especially on a Friday & Saturday night.

Myself and my family have used the Happy Village since it opened 30 years ago (maybe longer). We have never had a bad meal from them and we visit regularly. The owner is always pleasant and will remember you if you visit a few times. She even knows who we are over the phone without us saying who we are.Having visited Hong Kong a few times I can say the food is quite authentic although obviously a little more western.

I have been and enjoyed the food until recently but thought I would give it one last try. They don’t deliver so I drove 5 miles from my home to pick up my food. Get home and it’s the wrong order. I had to drive back and all I got was abuse saying it was my fault. I fetch the correct meal home and it was absolutely disgusting.... the chicken I may save and get the environmental health to check it. What a waste of money I would strongly recommend not to go here! DISCUSTING!!

Excellent Chinese takeaway run by nice people.

I have been using this takeaway for I think 28 years, since it opened! It used to be a chip shop I used as a child.They family are lovely and pleasant and always ask after my family and now grown up kids! the food is spot on and ive never felt reason to complain in any way. Take no heed of the negative review, there is always someone ready to gripe!popular so get ordered early.

Great food but doesn't deliver.

Poor quality, poor quantity and expensive

This is an excellent Chinese takeaway. We've been going here for decades and the owners are really friendly and helpful. We've tried others in the area but nothing compares. The food is always so fresh and delicious, we never feel ill or stodgy after eating it. It would be good if they did delivery but we guess they are so busy that they don't need to do it for more business!

Had two take away meals here over the past couple of years. Becsuse our regular Taste of China was closed.Both meals were well under what we expected. Burnt food all through. Sweet and sour sauce was replaced with curry sauce, Yuk. Chicken balls Burnt, crispy duck was burnt to a cinder. Rice was well over cooked. Called to let them know and could I bring sweet and sour chicken back for a replacement meal with sweet and sour sauce and not curry sauce. Told no because the replacement meal would be the same. Will never go back especially when the owner admits a replacement would also be burnt.

The only reason I gave this a 1 star is because I cannot give none. Ordered 1/4 crispy duck, egg fried rice, chips and sweet and sour chicken. The crispy duck was burnt to death and not shredded as our usual Chinese does. The fried rice taste like it had been reheated and also burnt. The chicken balls were burnt (see a pattern here of badly burnt food) I suspect it was all re cooked from yesterday. Oh to top it all instead of sweet & sour sauce, the put in curry sauce instead. Called them back to let them know and we were still hungry. Wanted a replacement meal but told no, the replacement meal would be the same. We threw the meal away and had cheese on toast. A waste of £16.35. This happened last year when our usual was closed. So gave it another chance. Never busy, now I know why, it's disgusting food, obviously re cooking food from the previous day and burning it.

We Have used this Chinese for years. Decent prices. set meals for one are more than enough for two people. Only negative is they don't deliver!

Lovely little Chinese place, been using this particular one for about 6 years. Never had a bad meal from here, always lovely, really nice little Chinese women and really well priced

Latest visit was June '16 but go on a regular basis. Never had a bad meal and the Lady who runs it is lovely, very friendly and kind and remembers regulars. Free coke whenever my son is with me.

Greasy and took a long time to comeDoes not look the best from the front but not been from around here we thought we give it a try. We'd not be trying it again

Been a number of times to this cafe style setting food outlet. Staff are great the food is great and would highly recommend.
