Happy Haggis in Highland

Fish cake chips with curry sauce and mushy peas. The chips were poorly cooked some raw nd some over cooked. The curry sauce was average as was the mushy peas. Fish cake was average and cooked fine. If this had cost me £8 fair enough but it was £13.60. Overpriced and poor quality.

Good place to have some fish and chips and good price. Very recommended

Good value and correctly cooked. Not sure how to rank "atmosphere" for a takeaway but the shop is very clean and well presented. Impressed the chef understood and was familiar with things like dairy free dietary requirements.

As a foreigner I have to say haggis is a blessing and I can’t get enough! This crispy haggis pie was very tasty and the chips were perfection. Stop by and get yourself treat at Happy Haggis if you’re around Aviemore 😉

My go to place every time I come to Aviemore. Mozzarella sticks and garlic mayo are the best I’ve ever had. Battered mars bars are a must try. And of course the staple chip shop chips are as good as you’ll get anywhere. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. You’d struggle to find a better chippy anywhere!

Unfortunately the food wasn't the best 😕 but the staff were lovely the place was really tidy and clean and menu was very clear on the big screens. The only thing that let it down was the chips, they had alot of black bits and there wasn't that many. I did try the Battered pizza, never tried that before and quite frankly never will again, not there fault just not for me. Great parking

Best chippy ever and we've tried a lot! Definitely the best in aviemore. Chips were expensive but you got a lot, many places are giving really small portions now. Husband said white pudding was delicious and it didn't cost much to add it onto the chips. We asked for scraps and they gave us a whole carton full and they were absolutely delicious. Gravy was nice, so we're the mushy peas, neither were watery like a lot of other places. Would highly recommend A+

Les portions sont très copieuses et les tarifs abordables. Toutefois les frites ne sont vraiment pas à mon goût (pas assez cuites et trop blanches) Quant au poisson et fruits de mer, cette fois ci, eux sont trop cuits. Donc en définitive, même si les portions sont copieuses et peu cher, je préfère ne pas revenir ici

Friendly staff and food was beautifully cooked. Being a southerner, the fried Mars bar was novel, but my wife coming from the Midlands is not so sure.

Had a delicious takeaway from here. Huge portions. Sat in the outside seating area as we had the dog with us. Fast service even though it was busy

Oh wow, you must try deep-fried pizza! This was a game changer. The lady serving us was really sweet and really pleasant to talk to. The food was very hot and the chips were perfect. The place always had customers in and out while we sat outside to eat our food, which is always a good sign.

We ordered fish and chips and battered mars bars. The service was excellent, both fast and friendly despite it being very busy. It was some of the best fish and chips we've had (and we're from Pembrokeshire). Would definitely visit again when in Aviemore.

Great food served here! You have got to try the munchie box - enough for 4 people. Well worth the money!

Bright and clean inside with good COVID standards. Unfortunately the fish suppers did not live up to the same standards. Very greasy small portion of fish and chips were not crisp and golden but rather dark brown and soggy. Won’t be back sorry 😞

Bitterly disappointing. Fish in breadcrumbs dreadful and chips hard and cold. Genuinely avoid. There has to be better in Aviemore than this!? If I could award 0 star that would more accurately reflect the food.

Why do fish and chips shops do it? Just to save a few pennies they serve old, dried out chips. This is Exactly what happened at the Happy Haggis tonight. Fish and black pudding made to order- Delicious. Chips been lying too long dry and tasteless. So what do they do combine them both for a supper, just to save a few pennies. Fresh chips would have taken the same time to make and would have got them 5 stars. Next time you’re in the shop getting close to closing time ask for fresh chips. If they refuse walk out

Not quite, but certainly worth the 30 mile drive from Inverness. Friendly and attentive service in the restaurant and the best fish and chips you can find is the reason we do. We've sampled many disappointing 'local' chippies during lockdown and are delighted Happy Haggis is open again. They never disappoint. Get in your car!

All made from scratch, to our particular requirements. Just the right size portion chips and veggie haggis. Plenty condiments and lovely mushy peas.

No restaurants open so as it's just down the road from the premier inn I called in for tea. Very nice fresh fish and chips with a good size portion. Would definitely recommend.

Good amount of food for money, we got 2x mozzarella dippers, chicken burger supper, pizza crunch supper, battered marsbar & a tub of curry sauce for £24. However the amount of Mayo on my burger annoyed me and some of the lettuce was brown, chips are like they’ve been cooked twice. I would come back but wouldn’t get the chicken burger again

Was a busy Friday night so had to wait a little. But definitely worth it. Excellent deep fried pizza and fish and chips everything spot on.

Don’t look at the website for prices as they are not up to date. Plus make sure if you pay for a pickle you actually get a pickle!

We got a takeaway from here while we were on our staycation in Avimore. It was absolutely beautiful. We both had haddock and chips, one with curry sauce and one with mushy peas. The fish was chunky and gorgeous and the batter lovely and crispy. Chips lovely and the curry sauce was unbelievable!

Phoned order in and only had to wait about 4 minutes after time given. 4 had the fish and one had the white pudding. There were no leftovers so that says it all as I usually leave at least half the chips

A GREAT Chippy, the queues for this place are LEGENDERY. All covid guidelines adhered to. The food really was excellent and a very decent sized portion. Would definitely go back. Is a tad more expensive than the chippies at home but the food was worth it.

We were getting ready for our 8 hour drive home, we needed to fuel up with food. We just wanted a good quick chip shop. We were so lucky we found the Happy Hagis. The best chips we have ever tasted. The quality, the taste, the service. ABSOLUTELY THE BEST.

Expensive for what we got. Sausage was battered despite not asking for this. Had to wait for food to be cooked. Staff shouting out order numbers not very welcoming. Next time will go further into the town and obtain better food at a cheaper price.

Fresh fish. Greasy chips. Nowhere to sit as tables beside bins. Reasonable price for tourist area. Ok

Rang to book but was told restaurant was closed. Refused to accept the voucher I’d got from tourist information centre for two fish and chips for £12. Told me the vouchers were out of date! Reluctantly paid full price thinking we could sit outside on the benches to enjoy our fish and chips. Benches are located next to the bins, not the most salubrious of surroundings. Wish we’d gone to Smiffy’s which is cheaper and where we could have sat in the park area nearby.

Visitors on Friday night and it was very busy. The queue moved fairly quickly and the staff were very friendly. The food was also very good. Wee bit on the pricey side if I’m honest but I suppose that’s what you expect for a village which relays of tourism. Would I go again, definitely the only down side was the price.

Had a takeaway meal as most things in Aviemore were not open yet. The fish and chips were amazing. We also had the haggis supper this was not so good ( not spicy enough) The staff are first class a lovely fish and chip bat. With a couple of benches outside.

Ordered a range of foods including vege burger, half pounder, seafood and battered haggis. Food was ready on time for collection and staff were proactive in calling out to us so we didn't have to wait too long when we got there to collect. Food itself was all excellent quality, good portion sizes and very reasonably priced. Social distancing measures in place were good but beware the car park which used to be alongside is no longer accessible so use must the lay-bys.

During the difficult period of lock down Happy Haggis has devised a phone ordering service and safe collection. Orders are/were placed for specific time slots and they were always ready for me at the exact time arranged, neatly packed. The collection system maintains safe distancing. Of course at this time of Covid 19 lock down during May/June 2020 there is no restaurant service. Very friendly atmosphere.In normal times my wife and I have often used the restaurant and very much enjoyed the food and service. The ratings below refer to normal circumstances before Covid 19 restrictions.

Friendly welcome and service. We sat in. Great choice of combo deals on the menu. We had the smaller portion of Fish & Chips deal, comes with peas, mushy or garden, home made tartare sauce, lemon slice and choice of tea, coffee or soft drink. At £7.95 a bargain and delicious.

Simple food done really well, very friendly staff, and consequently excellent service. My group had various combinations of fish and chips, fish cakes, and haggis. It was all excellent in a comfortable, clean restaurant setting, and the place is licensed too so you can get a beer with your meal.

Great chippy with lovely haggis. Visited here as a family February half term. Ate in. Friendly service. Haggis, chips and gravy was absolutely fantastic according to my husband and son. I loved the haddock and chips. Highly recommend

I am a fussy old git from the Borders up for a few days climbing. I visited yesterday 27/01/2020 and sat in for my evening meal. Wow tbh it was one of the best fish and chips I have ever tasted. Why?. Fresh cooked, crispy, tasty with peas bread and a pot of tea or a soft drink. Very well priced and highly recommended.

Really good fish and chips , slightly more expensive than we normally pay but cooked to order. Light batter and chips were crispy and not greasy.

We’ve been here loads, the staff are friendly which she was again this time but this time it was very disappointing chips weren’t great, fish was good though. It was also freezing couldn’t take our jackets off. Seemed to have jump up in price, still do the family meal deal and extra £2.50 for a child after. But our lot didn’t have that so it worked out really expensive for us. But don’t know if I would go back again, might have to find somewhere else to go when in the area, which is a real shame. It cost us more this time than what we paid for a bistro in Edinburgh city centre which we knew would be expensive but in comparison was reasonable now.

Stopped here on a day out up the mountain, loved our stay in the Highlands and would definitely recommend this chippy to anyone in the area.

I have tried a lot of fish and chips all over Britain, and this by far has to be the best ive ever had.

This is everything we wanted from a chip shop. We were seated in the restaurant at a good seat. Great selection of local beers. We had the deep fried haggis, seafood platter and battered sausage. All was very tasty. A great blend of traditional fish and chip food and scottish additions. Good service too! Would go back if we didn't live 8 hours away!

Drove into Aviemore from Glenmore for a chippy takeaway. We had a haggis sausage, White pudding sausage, fishcakes, chips and peas between us. My haggis sausage was excellent, the chips were nice and overall it was a really nice takeaway meal. The place was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

If you’ve been to Aviemore and travelled north, there’s a good chance you’ve passed the Happy Haggis as it sits at the southern edge of this fine, highland town. I was here in November, but it was doing a steady trade for a cold and wet Wednesday. There is a good choice on offer and a restaurant to sit in, should you want to. I’d fancied a haggis, so I got one with chips and a portion of gravy. All of the food was piping hot and the gravy thick and tasty. There’s an award displayed on the wall and in my opinion with just cause. I’ll be back in the Spring / Summer and look forward to seeing what else they have to offer.

Everytime we are near aviemore or pass though we always nip in!! Spicy chicken burger is to die for lush chips are clearly hand cut and i usually hate chip shop chips but these i can eat all day... nice and fluffy. Ketchup is 25p but if your buy a few cheaper to buy a bottle at £1.50. The lad you served us everytime we have been is just brilliant! Fast and knows the job like the back of his hand. The chefs you can see in the back preparing your order , 1 is pretty damn hot aswell eye candy while you wait hahaha never been disappointed when we have visited food always lush serivce always been brilliant. Good sized portions at a decent price. Battered mars bar was prefect just the right amount of batter see you soon

Myself and husband went in to grab lunch on our way home so glad we did all the food was freshly done very tasty aswell very big portions which was good value for money and the lady serving was friendly aswell will definitely be back

Considering it was a restaurant bolted into a fish and chip shop. I was a bit concerned, however I left here happy. The fish and chips where amazing. The portions where good and the service was a second to none. Happily come back here
