I would go as far as saying that it was the best Chinese we've ever had. The ingredients were so fresh. The lad on the desk was ver chatty aswell 😊

Counter staff absolutely terrible. No idea how to even say please or thank you. Food wasn't much better. I had a duck dish and was extremely fatty.

We visit Tywyn twice a year for a quiet break and always go to Happy Garden Chinese takeaway at least twice a week during our visit and we find this Chinese takeaway to be the best in the UK that we've ever tried.

I was staying at a caravan park near this and the food was excellent and reasonable. Everyone was satisfied with their food and I will say the Man who took our order at the till was really nice and helpful and spoke to us all while waiting! Thank him from us and tell him to keep it up 😀 5 stars from us all ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I had chicken chow mein and chips and it was great, exactly what I was expecting. The guy taking orders was brilliant, he pointed out that different Chinese takeaways do it slightly differently and gave me the choice of having my chow mein with or without the sauce and told us where the closest ATMs were, both the one that charges and the free one since it is cash only. 100% would go there again.

Prompt polite takeaway - excellent. We had the sharer starter 1, lemon chicken 45, special curry 27, Singapore fried rice 166. Don’t hesitate, all very tasty thanks.

Unless your local Chinese has Michelin stars, you can't go wrong with this place. We thought the food was well portioned and very tasty. I can only rate what we had, and that was Chicken Mushroom curry with egg fried rice and chips. Spare ribs and chicken balls. Delicious! I'd also add the big lad taking orders was very welcoming, friendly and diligent. See you next year!

Awfull chowmein, horrible sauce, no bean spouts, thick soggy noodles. Not god couldn’t eat it. Crispy Vikki and garlic beef also un eatable. Fried rice . Total waste of money .

We visit Tywyn every year and always use Happy Garden at least once a week. The food is tasty, decent proportions and reasonably priced. It’s not fancy- but it is filling, fresh and a much better option than a microwave Chinese from the overpriced Co-op. Special mention to the lad taking the orders who has to juggle between phone orders and orders in person. He’s very patient dealing with customers who don’t want carrots in their Chow Mein, a different sauce on their ribs or who want it available at a specific time. Well done Mate! Ps Cash only.

Absolutely delicious food. All of the food was cooked amazingly and tasted great. Not bad prices either, as we paid much more In other places. Would recommend if you enjoy a good Chinese meal.

After very recently moving into the area, we decided to try the food here despite seeing some mixed reviews. We didn't pre-order and turned up at 830pm. We ordeted, 2 spring rolls, beef chow mein, sweet & sour chicken balls, egg fried rice and satay chicken. The price was average, the food took 15 mins, was piping hot when we got home ( 5 mins drive) and we could not fault the food, it was really good. We have never seen larger spring rolls too! We will defo be revisiting.

Staying in Tywyn for a family holiday and decided to give this Chinese a try and was a bit concerned after the mixed reviews. We were very pleasantly surprised as the order went through smoothly, was ready in 15 minutes to collect, got it back and it was piping hot. All food was delicious and tasty and we were stuffed - portions are generous!!

Absolutely gorgeous! The food was amazing and prepared very quickly. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who likes Chinese food. I don't know if it has changed ownership recently, as I've only just moved back to the area, but i am very impressed. Tried this place for the first time and we were very happy with our food. Singapore chow mein was good but could have done with a bit more spicy heat. My wife's chicken with ginger and spring onion was spot on. Salt and pepper chips were delicious but could have done with a bit of sliced chilli pepper... All in all a good first take out. We will use again.

So gave it one more chance..!! What a mistake!!! Food ordered Plain chow main came with lettuce no been sprouts or onions……. Crispy beef with chilli and garlic was vile Beef was slimy not crispy obviously pre cooked and warmed up. Thai fried rice had no meat in it and was bland Ha ha the salt and chilli chips wow what a joke …. Soggy with nothing more than a couple of onions Curry sauce…. Salty and sweet We now have salt poisoning 😂🤢 To sum this up it was with out a doubt the worst Chinese food we have ever had the misfortune to try and eat …. Avoid at all costs …….!!!!

Kids wanted a Chinese for tea and stopping local so have this place a go. Food ready on time, well priced and no issues with the food. All good 👍

Food was average, but would give 5 Stars to the chap behind the counter! Very friendly and chatty 🥰 Didn't judge me for laughing at a poor bloke who fell out the shop. What can I say, I'm going to hell! Remember it's CASH ONLY folks, but if you do forget, have no fear, ATM is only 2 minutes walk away! No big deal xXx

Had food this evening, absolutely disgusting, asked for plain noodles, got bean sprouts and onion, spare ribs were just pure fat, chicken balls were a tiny, flat piece of chicken surrounded by thick greasy batter that literally dripped grease when bitten, curry sauce leaked all in the bag, and onto other food, chips covered in curry sauce, not edible. Ended up in the bin and had to cook. Local resident and will never order here again, is definitely worth the drive to Dolgellau as theirs is amazing and never get disgusting food there.

I can honestly say, having eaten Chinese takeaway all over the country, that this is by far the worst I have ever tasted. Never before have I thrown food in the bin it was that bad. Spring roll very soggy, beansprouts didn't seem fresh hardly any meat in it. Chips how can you go wrong with chips utterly tasteless and hard. Roast Pork chow mein, little pork, random bits of broccoli and a disgusting after taste. Sorry I had heard contrasting opinions on this place, so I thought I would try for myself wish I hadn't bothered. Not even worth a star in my opinion.

I'm sorry to say we didn't like any of it.. I'm sure there are people who think its the dogs bollocks but I think we eat those in sweet and sour sauce with fried rice. Won't go back or recommend- sorry. Cash only

Salt and pepper wings and chips were great, but the ribs were deep-fried pieces of gristle and bone. Dropping a star because there were no complimentary prawn crackers on our order of almost £40.

Used last night for the first time and the staff were friendly and it was ready quickly. I had the Singapore chow mein which was lovely and the wife the salt and pepper sharing box ( not that she shared much!) Would recommend and will use again next time we are down Note though cash only

Went in tonight for takeaway had duck pancakes duck was over cooked ,had asst balls overcooked and some were empty , chicken chow mein was disgusting it was spaghetti with broccoli £30 wasted

I collected a menu, rang through my order, repeated back to me, gave a time, I collect on time, 25min drive, bang on right temp to eat and very tasty, enough for 2 portions. OK wings, veg chop suey, soft noodles (thin, personally prefer thicker variety).

All went as wished for, no complaints.

Delicious takeaway. Came recommended. Chicken balls, beef chow mein, curry sauce, roast pork curry, chips and boiled rice. Helpful staff and ready really quickly. Tasted fresh and stayed hot while I drove it to the family.

Turned up to collect a £73 order only to find out they only took cash🤔 Had to try and find a cash point in Tywyn. Some of the food was ok, but some was reminiscent of 1980's take away food. The pork and noodles was basically sliced ham with spaghetti 🙄 I thought Tywyn had moved on a little since I came as a child in the 80's but not so sure now. very poor and dated.

We visited at a very busy time, and yet the staff were very polite and welcoming, and before we ordered warned us that there was a 'long wait' of 40 minutes. There are 2 pubs and two bars really close by, so this was not a problem. They also let us know that it is cash only, and told us where the cashpoint was. All fine as we could pay on pick-up. When we returned, our food was ready to go. We have a 10 minute walk home, and the food was still hot when we got there. Big portions - they pack those containers to the top! Really excellent mushroom chow mein, veg fried rice, salt and pepper chicken and veg curry. Ribs and prawn fried rice also very good. Only miss out on 5 stars due to watery sweet and sour sauce and slightly stodgy prawn balls - but this didn't spoil the meal. We will definitely use this takeaway again.

Just don’t go. They never get the order right hit and then they shout at you for it and get it wrong again !!! Seriously ridiculous. The blonde girl with glasses is awful not sure what’s gone wrong in her life but she’s got the worst attitude I’ve ever seen off a service girl. Really bad soul. Do not go here !!!! This girl will claim a bad line every time and get it wrong 8 times and yet somehow it’s your fault every time and the way she speaks is like you’ve personally hurt her family when she picks up the phone. She does this to everyone it’s awful

i have not used this chinese takeaway for a long time but tonight 18th jan 2022 i did and for me and my wife was just perfect we had salt and pepper chicken wings chicken sweet and sower hong kong style chicken satay fried and boiled rice

Customer service was good unfortunately food didn’t serve up to the same standards. The chicken balls weren’t even balls they were flat with hardly any chicken on the inside, the noodles was just like smart price spaghetti with minimal flavour, chicken curry was the worst...

Contacted the takeaway via a phone call after checking the menu on line . My order was ready in 20 minutes and was very hot and ready to eat . There was plenty to eat in my order .

Friendly staff, food was cooked reasonably quick, had 6 meals, all were tasty. Prawn crackers were also good. Haven’t used the Chinese in Tywyn for ages, it’s good to have a decent take away here. 👍🏼

The chalmean was sloshy spaghetti with two pieces of chicken, the boy serving was rude and just said "what do you want" and the cripsy chill beef was foul and tasted disgusting, never had a worse Chinese in my life, all went in the bin £30 down the drain, also only takes cash. I wonder why. I can't cook to save my life and I would do a much better job, would rather have curry noodles from Lidl for 20p, wouldn't even give this food to my dog.

The chips were frozen the spring rolls were filled with something other than veg and the salt and pepper chips were not salt and pepper chips was really looking forward to it aswell

Always very friendly and welcoming food tastes great always fresh the only reason for 4 stars is because they still do Cash Only despite the pandemic it would be nice to have alternative options considering that banks have closed locally.

Nothing to shout about... it filled a gap, wont be ordering again. Wasnt told a price over the phone, wasnt told we had to pay cash, was told to walk to the cashpoint down the road when we arrived... Once we got the food back, opening up the dishes.. smelled great, nothing wrong with the taste of the dishes, but egg rice, chicken balls, crispy chilli beef, cantonese s+s chicken and beef chow mein all clearly microwave heated as was all chewy and tough to bite through, nothing crispy about the chilli beef at all... The portions not too bad, but the szechuan beef and cashew duck were lacking in meat, from the pictures provided you can see the amount of bamboo shoots and veg forced in to fill out the dish AFTER the meat was taken out and veg already eaten... for over £10 for the 2 dishes, i find this insulting to the consumer... Ill be finding somewhere else for chinese food next time we're down this way...

Food was ok nothing special to rave about, staff taking the orders looked a bit lost when it got busy, the inside walls and inside/outside windows could do with a wipe down to take away the grubby feeling and help with the overall cleanliness. My me.

Worst chinese takeaway food ever if you can call it that. Chow mein consisted of just noodles gooey and stuck together. Almost all of it went in the bin.

I dont know what other people are talking about. Myself & my family regularly buy takeaway from Happy Garden & we are always very happy with our choices. We have tried many of the specials, I love the chicken curry & chicken sweet & sour....

Thought I'd ignore the reviews and give this place a try as I'm not particularly bothered as long as a takeaway is clean and tastes alright. I never expect much from takeaways. I do have specific dietary requirements. Asked them to point out what didn't contain egg, shellfish and dairy on their menu. She had no idea, pointed out options that obviously contained egg, like omelettes and noodles, countless other things. Had absolutely no idea how to refer to the allergen section. They either didn't know or couldn't be bothered. Dread to think if somebody had allergies. The dishes were very watery. Salt and pepper chips were not salt and pepper chips, they were also soggy. The crispy seaweed was half brown meaning it was old before cooked. Not impressed. I hate to leave a bad review. But the staff need educating and know what's in their food.

This Chinese is shut until the 25th of February although the owner failed to mention this to his customers, the phone just rings with no response or answering message explaining, after 3 weeks I passed the take away which had a little note on the door saying closed until above date, this is poor management and the owner should be more upcoming with information if he wants loyalty from customers.

I have found that the meals are not consistent, but I am yet to not enjoy my meal regardless of this. The prices are fair & waiting time is as expected.

You can order rice and chips on phone and they’ll say it’ll take 15 minutes but what they mean is it’ll take 15 minutes when you arrive and wait, absolutely genius! Their chips nice though.

Needed a take away as our oven broke down. Read some previous reviews but thought it was worth a try. We had four seperate meals which were all very tasty and hot. Nothing left on any of our plates. We will definitely use it again....

We decided to order a take away instead of going out for a meal on the last night of our short family holiday. The reviews weren't great but still went for it as there is limited choice in the area. We all enjoyed the meal...

Family of 6 so we had a good cross section of dishes. One very good (chicken curry) and one very bad (chicken chow mein - just noodles, chicken and little else. No Bean sprouts or other veg to speak of, just water chestnuts - dull)...

Had a take away from here one evening last week whilst on holiday in Bryncrug. We have had many chinese take aways over the years but we all agreed that this was the best ever. Thank you.

We had a set meal for 2 which the wife enjoyed thus the 3 star review. I thought it was just acceptable, the quantity was fine but it wasn’t a great meal in my eyes.

The food is always cooked fresh & tasty. Very nice choices of menu with some specials. The food is always the same - very good. Pleasant assistants usually the owner, very polite. Prices are good too. Would recommend over other takeaways I've tried in the town.They do deliver for £1.

Rubbish food ill all night afterwards

This is our go to takeaway when we visit the area. Noticed there were comments about the menu or lack of online so hopefully the pictures help.

Visited here on Thursday, we ordered beef curry and fried rice, and chicken chow mien with a carton of curry. When we we got home we had a chicken omelet and the chow mien. As we had been travelling all day we decided to make the best of what we had in front of us rather than take it back. To be frank it was inedible. Everything was dreadfully salty and not very warm. We decided to take it back the following evening, but decided it simply wasn’t worth the bother. We ended up throwing £14.50 in the bin ! Never again.

Quiet frankly it was by far the worst Chinese I have EVER eaten. Although portions were reasonably generous that's the only good thing I can say. The Chow men's (doesn't matter which one you choose) are incredibly salty and is filled overcooked random veg and questionable meat, some of it even looking like it came straight out of a can! Sweet and sour chicken balls were more edible however but still not great. So in short Nearly £20 went mostly in the bin. Won't be recommending this place to anyone.

We thought the food was lovely. Set menu for three plenty enough for us. Food was tasty and just right not over done with too rich and spicy sauces. Each dish had its own unique flavour, we really enjoyed our dishes.

Sweet and Sour pork was good, with a sauce that was more subtle than most and nicely balanced. There were good chunks of pork too. The Crispy Beef was yummy and there were lots of crisp chips and the boiled rice was fluffy.

i have to be honest, the food here is awful. its average chinese takeaway prices but its almost like they are not even trying, maybe its because they know you would have to travel miles to get another chinese i dont know. avoid if you can.

For the second year running we decided to buy a meal from the Happy Garden. For us it was a case of not judging a book by its cover last year and trusting to our own judgement not the views of other people. Interestingly during the past 12 months the premises has undergone an internal make-over, now being carpeted, painted and with seating for waiting customers.
