First time trying haggis in a haggis and bacon roll with brown sauce. Really good contrast of textures and meating flavours. The haggis is like sausage but more mealy and grainy. The bread was soooo good- Scottish rolls are far superior to English baps.

The best cinnamon scroll I’ve ever had in my life. No photos, because it’s in my tummy. I’m very lucky because I’m only visiting for the weekend and we came across Happy Bean Cafe. The cinnamon scroll is really very good, I’m sure the other food are good too!

At least once a week I treat myself to a veggie breakfast delivery, which totally sets me up for the day. Great portion, great value. Definitely the best in the area.

Absolutely in love with the cinnamon cake! I sometimes order on deliveroo just for that. Decent and large variety of quality smoothie too, although smoothie is a bit more expensive. Wish I live closer to the shop!

ordered from justeat for some lazy brunch. it came within around 30-40 minutes and was still in good condition when arrived. the large latte was kept hot with tin foil and was very nice. we got 2 breakfast rolls which had a lovely fresh bun and were very filling for 2 uni students :) crepe was very nice but quite thick. we got little thank you notes inside the bag and on the bag, which was a very cute touch. would definitely come again!

Well, this is a breakfast of champions, couldn't finish it, and both of us are completely stuffed. I doubt I'll eat anything else all day. I'll need a heart transplant after this 😆. I highly recommend this place you won't be disappointed at all, the biggest portion I've ever seen for a breakfast in Edinburgh, so make sure you're hungry and obviously it was delicious.

Love this place. The staff are great, and the food is always very tasty. Of course polentoni and the mana house next door get a lot of praise for being of high quality, but I find myself coming here more often as it's better value and the food is just lovely and wholesome. If anyone knows of somewhere that does a better breakfast roll or soup id like to know, they are out of this world

Service fantastic, everything cooked to order so fresh and hot, black pudding and egg breakfast roll was delicious. Fruit toast was also amazing. Coffee was lovely too. Will definitely be back.

I am an American traveling in the UK for a vacation/holiday. Let's be real, the thing we are looking for is a good portion of well made food at a good price with a warm drink. The happy bean will give you a gigantic full Scottish breakfast for less than 6 pounds. They have also got crepes that looked heavenly and delightful looking pastries if you wanted something lighter Unreal prices where cafes just up the road with inferior quality are charging near 10 pounds for a breakfast. A pound 50 for a cup of tea and pot of water, enough for two cups, and a pitcher of milk. You can come in, sit down, warm up and eat up, for a bargain for the area. Highly recommended.

This place is my absolute favourite. I recommend the full Scottish breakfast, a cup of tea and smoothy. Although their wraps are also really creative and delicious as well

Had a really good vegan latte in here. I’ve marked down because they never gave me change. I handed them £3 for a £2.80 latte and never even got offered the change. I would have told them to keep it anyway so not a major issue but it should still have been offered back to me. Beside the point lovely coffee and double shot in every one.

A nice man made me a tasty fry up. Not greasy, plenty of beans, well cooked egg and a tattie scone. I would have preferred tea in a mug rather than a wee pot and a cup but that's okay. It was very nice and I'll happily go back.

These guys are brilliant. I live nearby and use the Happy Bean frequently for breakfast. I love the fact that they lightly toast the rolls. I've had the fried egg roll and also the cheese burger. Excellent food, and very reasonably priced. Keep up the good work.

The best place in town to eat good English breakfast and drink real coffee

My wife and I are staying around the corner from this place and decided to try it out. It is small but inviting. I had the Full Scottish breakfast and my wife had the gluten-free crepe with ham and cheese. We both had lattes. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time, and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Seating is limited but if you are in the area give it a try. I saw numerous people stop in for take out.

Mum and I come up to Edinburgh every year for the Fringe but we usually seek out different places to eat every time. This time we decided our Porridge and Coffee was so good we'd stick to the Happy Bean cafe three mornings in a row. The second morning we had a cooked breakfast each (I had haggis, mum had the veggie version). There was plenty of toast and the food was lovey.

One of the things I miss most about living in Edinburgh. The crepe with spinach, sundried tomatoes and that amazing sauce .. 🤤🤤🤤

My husband and I stumbled upon this place by chance, and so glad we did. They have the best coffee I've ever tasted. Its strong as they add 2 espresso shots, but so tasty. We shared a flapjack, cinnamon cake and cranberry and brie crepe between the two of us. Everything was delicious. Service was fantastic too.

Stumbled upon this place quite by accident. Open early by 7am!! I love my coffee and their artisan roast was simply amazing! We grabbed a breakfast roll and raspberry crumble which were the perfect savory and sweet combo for a quick breakfast!

An excellent place with fresh and tasty food. Coffee, with a double shot of espresso, is a one of a kind experience. And the soups, oh God, the soups are amazing and are chef's speciality. You'll also find a selection of home baked cakes.

Best decaf coffee in Edinburgh, with friendly down to earth service

Stopped in here for a quick breakfast and wasn't disappointed. The coffee is quite strong but there is a sign saying they put in two shots as standard so if you prefer you coffee a little weaker ask for one shot (its still good coffee though). We were a group of three and all enjoyed our food and staff were friendly. Great place for good food and no frills. Lots to choose from on the menu and breakfast sandwiches were yummy.

We went here for breakfast because we heard that they cater to gluten allergies. Though it is not fancy, it was a great breakfast and the people who worked there made you feel like you were the only customer in the place. It was truly an amazing place. Yes, there are millions of places to eat in Edinburgh, but this little hole-in-the-wall is one of the best breakfast places. All food is fresh, hot and tasty. You will love feeling important!

We stopped at the cafe for a quick lunch and were impressed by the options for various types of rolls, sandwiches etc. My hubby and I tried two different fillings and we both thought they were delicious. Mine was a vegetarian option. There were home made bakes and fresh soup available but we were too full after our filled rolls and drinks to try them - will leave some room the next time. Very good value for money, especially being close to the centre of Edinburgh.

This is the best combination of healthy food and fry ups that I could ever imagine. Had a veggie breakfast with my son. They were out of mushrooms so we got a lovely side of spinach and peppers instead. The coffees were excellent and come in a great choice of milk- dairy, oat, almond etc. It is a plain looking place but the service was excellent and the food choices fantastic for a wee cafe. Chocolate soya puddings and interesting soft drinks, lovely soups and crepes too. Great for someone with allergies or food intolerances. Full of surprises.

My husband and I popped into the Happy Bean Cafe for a bite to eat . We had a very tasty and healthy home made lentil, leak and pea soup served with a hot buttered roll. This was a refreshing change from the usual soup choices elswhere. We finished off with a really perfect carrot cake ( the owner said it was the first time he had made that cake and had reduced the sugar in the recipe) topped off with excellent coffee. We will be back.

I have to say that I am a regular of this cosy place. The service is warm and close and the food is quite nice. If you like smoothies there is your place. The rolls are quite nice either but my favourites are the wraps and panninis, specially the veggy ones. I´m not a fan of vegetarian food but here I order veggy optoins most of the times.

We were looking for a light lunch and as we were passing by here, we stopped and we were glad we did. Friendly staff, nice lunch of tomato, pepper and chickpea soup and lovely toasted rolls, a tea and a coffee, not dear at all. Refreshed and off we go again.

I visit here often, approx 3 times per week for the past few months and cannot recommend this place enough. Great coffee, nothing is ever too much hassle. Great morning rolls, always cooked to order and the crepes are simply delicious. Everything is very reasonably priced and the staff are very warm people.

This was one of my favorite places to eat on my entire Scotland trip, and ironically the least expensive. But don't let that fool you. For three pounds I get an incredible gluten free goat cheese/spinach crepe (they offer both savory and sweet) and for less than 5 pounds my husband enjoyed a terrific full breakfast. They cater to folks who are celiac or who need gluten free but all the food looks delicious and the coffee is superb. If I lived in Edinburgh, I would be a very frequent visitor. Believe me, you too will wish there was a place like this near you.

Called here for our last breakfast during the fringe. Great choice and loved my cook breakfast, fresh orange and cup of tea. Good value too and set us up nicely for the day ahead.

During our stay in Edinburgh, where everything is so expensive, my fiancée and I were very lucky to bump into the Happy Bean Café. If you are looking for an excellent and affordable breakfast, with super friendly staff, this is *the* place to go to!

I've been here my first morning at Edimburgh. It is quite small but very comfortable and full of funny slogans about coffee. I drank a latte and the barman, after a short while, arrived with a second one because the first one wasn't perfect... And I didn't even noticed that! A very kindness from him. The brioche was good and the price fair. I suggest it!
