Popped in on my walk with a friend, as the menu looked good and the restaurant was quite busy for a Wednesday lunch time. I got the Pho Bun Hue Brisket, the broth was so delicious and full of flavour. The noodles were cooked beautifully. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The restaurant was comfortable and clean.

This is my new favourite place for Vietnamese in London!!! No frills, lovely service and absolutely delicious, authentic food. The beef stew was gelatinous, hearty and super aromatic. The pork & spring roll bun was the best I’ve had, with lots of herbs snd pickled veg. I usually hate writing reviews…but this place really deserves it. I’ve been to SO many more average Vietnamese in the area who have much higher ratings. Come here - it really is the best!!! We’ll be back very soon! Thank you 🙏

Really lovely service. Excellent value for starters - flavours were great too. As a vegetarian i was jealous as the meaty broths were amazing but veggie was great too

I love Hanoi Pho. Been going there for over ten years. The chef just became the owner and the quality of the food has jumped up. Glazed Chicken wings / Grilled Pork with vermicelli / papaya salad with prawns are stand out dishes for me !!

I tried to book a birthday reservation for 10 people. The restaurant manager confirmed my booking and menu selection 2 weeks before my reservation, only to tell me a week later that all the dishes I requested are no longer doable, and if they were to do it, they would charge me £3000. What an absurd amount where each dish on average would be £300! Since I already confirmed reservation and dishes with all my guests, it takes extra effort to tell everyone to change restaurant and to rearrange everyone's time. The restaurant's decision was untimely and unprofessional. I would not recommend getting a private booking with this restaurant.

A rare gem. Fast service and nice stuff. Portions are large. It felt really authentic. I truly enjoyed the experience!

Delicious, home style proper Vietnamese

The staff were friendly and the service was fast… the food was very good!I had the crispy pancake which was crispy on the outside and not oily at all (which I find in many other places) for main I had bun bo hue which was perfect, the both had lots of favour and the beef melts on in your mouth. The place needs updating but I found out they just took over the place so it’s on the list of things to do. Overall service and food 10/10 can’t fault it.. keep up the standard guys!!!!

I have been here every week and every time the food and the service was spot on. Can confirm as a Vietnamese born and bred the Rare Beef Pho taste very very authentic. It is different from other places and can tell the chef puts a lot of care into every dish. The beef is quality and tender. Price is very reasonable. You got my continuous support as honestly it is very stand out thats why I keep coming back 👍👍👍 Highly recommended Beef Pho and Shaking Beef. Super authentic neighbourhood gem that is underserving of such a low rating. Food is delicious and cheap for London standards. They serve dishes (eg. prawn cakes) that I've yet to find in other Vietnamese restaurants in London. I loved their cassava noodles, prawn summer rolls, and the vermicelli in spicy fish soup (that they claim is of a special recipe). Everytime I've been the staff have always been super friendly and they're often full of Vietnamese customers. Will definitely be back often.

Ate here a couple of times, the food is really good, great prices and service as well, not sure why the rating is so low. Last night we had some prawn summer rolls, bok choi and some duck noodles with vegetables, all delicious! Last time I ate here was a while ago, but I remember the food was really good back then too (had some chicken). Will be visiting again!

I have tried a few items of their menu and so far everything was delicious. The customer service can be improved, the lady who seems to be the manager is excellent but the young guy serving needs a bit more training. Also, the beers could be more cold, they always come as almost in ambient temperature. However, the food is worth, always.

It’s a shame their rating is so low due to customers complaining about late deliveries and spilled sauce - when that has nothing to do with the food and service. Absolutely delicious every time and well priced. We’ve tried just about every vegetarian item on the menu by now and we’ve never been disappointed. Definitely give it a go!

A superb independent restaurant that's been in, and part of the community, for years. I take my 83 year old friend there, and she agrees. Great food. Reasonable pricing. Great ambience, authentically kitsch. These are the reasons Hackney is wonderful.

This is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant. The food here was amazing, very cheap price compared to other Vietnamese restaurants I used to eat. The handsome waiter explained how to eat them properly really well to me. Especially beef pho and Hue beef noodle soup here are really excellent compared to Green Papaya restaurant. I will definitely come back in the future. A great experience.

Took family for lunch this afternoon and everything we ordered was fantastic. Looking forward to our next meal and trying other options on the menu. Two children love their food as well.

Nearly didn’t go in because of a 3.7 rating — but it was soo good ! Had Delicious Beef , noodles and coconut rice ! And morning glory always a winner.. Fun atmosphere as well for our valentines date and polite, helpful and friendly waiter ( maybe their son ? ) and lovely cook :) definitely going again and recommending it to friends. (Just saying - always read some lower rated reviews because a lot of the time it’s some angry unreasonable people who just got a late „just east“delivery and put the ratings for a great restaurant down ! :)

Just ate at this place and it was delicious! Feel the slightly lower rating seems a bit unfair. I tend to go for Thai food instead but this was a very good choice. The staff were very friendly and helpful as well. Go for the Hanoi bear it's better than the sigon one! Had the chow mane with chicken and morning glory. Will definitely come back and friends to do the same. Glad I took the chance on this place considering the reviews. It was definitely worth it!

Best affordable and authentic Vietnamese food. A bowl of pho is only roughly £10 which is v cheap for what you get. Great service with v charismatic waiter! I come here regularly and would say it's the best food compared to its competitors on mare street. Fyi, the pho has more Northern tastes (less sweet than Southern).

The food was amazing and had all the right tastes and spices. The service was fast and efficient, I didn’t have to wait long for my food or for ordering. Also the waiters are really friendly and welcoming so I definitely would recommend others try the food at this restaurant. The prices are reasonable as it isn’t expensive or cheap, it’s affordable.

Favourite Vietnamese in London! Not sure why ratings are so low. Loved the summer rolls and the rare beef pho was delicious (a really hearty broth that was so much tastier than the pho I had at Green Papaya last week). Service was friendly and quick. Previously have ordered the pork belly and that too was great.

Tasty food and lots of vegan options, but the service is often REALLY slow. There’s usually only one waiter doing everything, even during busy lunch service. We recently had to wait 20 minutes with no drinks, just for our order to be taken (it wasn’t the waiter’s fault, there were too many tables). To add service charge for something like that is quite shameless of the owners.

i'm kind of surprised this place doesn't have a better rating to be honest? i actually thinks its better than green papaya or bun bun bun. It was my first time there tonight, but my friend is a regular. I got a chicken bun and she ordered a beef brisket pho (also had dessert & starters) it was all fresh, fragrant and tasty. great service, ambient spot and great food. highly recommend!!

Came by on a recommendation from a friend. The food and atmosphere was great, the staff attentive and all round had a great time. Would definitely say it's worth checking out if you're feeling like a good quality Vietnamese meal.

Tea cup was dirty. "It's only tea stain" isn't acceptable. The papaya salad was over seasoned with too much fish sauce. The glass noodles with crab meat must have been made with a ghost crab as there was no crab flavour at all. Bland & flavourless. The Bánh Xèo was very oily. I'm not being malicious just honest. Maybe the chef was having a bad day? One caveat, I was the only customer eating in. As they weren't busy I'm surprised the food was so bad.

It’s been a while since I last came to eat here. About 4 years ago when I lived in London we used to come here like once week. Recently I visited London and came back here. Can’t not fault the food still taste just as amazing a lot of newly staff which I don’t know but they were very welcoming polite and friendly. I know there’s a lot of Vietnamese restaurants in London but I definitely highly recommend u all try this one. 5 stars all around

I’ve had a very tasty dinner for two here. My shaking beef was tender and juicy and my partner’s fried aubergine dish was divine. The starter of salt and pepper tofu and aubergine were ok but the mains more than made up for it. Not having been here for years, I’d definitely return.

Tasty coconut prawn curry. Very nice staff. The restaurant adds service charge for a bill. 4 stars because my order been lost, it’s not a problem, I waited quite long, no worries as well, but… They add a service charge at the end.

Dirt in the prawn spring rolls and spaghetti (!) instead of the usual flat rice noodles for the pho. No Hanoi here!

Had a very nice diner at Hanoi Pho. The spring rolls were crispy and the stuffing was of very good quality. The pho was amazing, shootout to the duck one. Efficient and helpful waiter as well. Will definitely come back soon!

Best egg fried rice I’ve ever had! And the staff service is perfection! Went here after a good night out and had pretty much all the the foods. But these stood out the most! Monkfish tail: crispy and succulent meat, but flaky and the flavour was amazing! Squid: not too chewy, very well flavoured. Best I’ve had in a long time Egg fried rice: Star of the show, didn’t taste it until the end of the course but this is the best rice I’ve ever had in my life. Can be eaten as it’s own dish. Wow! Amazing stuff; highly recommend

Week ago today met two friends for lunch I had not experienced Vietnamese cuisine. The women managing was rushed of her feet it was packed. The wait worth it. I have a food allergy which can sometimes be a hindrance l had plenty of choice. The food excellent we were looked after extremely well. Restaurant also had a nice vibe. I'm not a Hackney local but definitely visit again. Indie

It’s a shame I can’t give zero stars. They mess up my deliveroo order, then tried to charge me for the item again, when I offered to GET IN A CAB to pick it up! They then offered my my food (that I’d already paid for) for half price! The manager is a liar and a scam artist. This is not the first time I’ve had rubbish service from this restaurant… please don’t give them your money, they don’t deserve it. They are disgusting humans. The waitress who gave me my food was absolutely brilliant though, so she should get a job somewhere else.

The food is good, I have no complaints about it. Service, however was very poor. Went there with a friend of mine for lunch. We were the only customers at the time. I was to the "leader" ordering and paying for the meals, however the serving lady completely ignored me and through the stay she wouldn't even make an eye contact with me. When paying, she would thank my friend despite the fact I paid. As dining out is a personal experience, I take this personally and will not be returning...

La camarera hablaba un poco de inglés, pero parecía estar un poco confundida con mi pedido y se fue y lo siguiente que sabes es que el gerente se me acercó y ¡estaba tratando de confirmar cómo quería el plato! Después de que le expliqué, se fue a la cocina para luego explicarle al chef lo que pedí en ese plato. I was food poisoned!! I went there with my girlfriend to have lunch. I ordered a Pho with bean sprouts on the side. One should ideally be VERY careful with eating uncooked beansprouts. I didn’t take care to ask them and just ate them. Had some horrific evening with intense nausea afterwards. Went away throughout the night luckily

SCAM. I placed an order through Just Eat. Food was never delivered. Just Eat only solution was to call the restaurant, but the restaurant never picked up. No refund.

Ordered a birthday meal. None of the veggie stuff arrived, and the nobody could help us when we phoned. Embarassing. The food that did arrive was fine (so I'm told), but I recommend avoiding at all costs.

SCAM! DON’T ORDER FROM HERE we have ordered from here twice, once it arrived after 2,5 hours and 8 phone calls.we ordered at 20:20 tonight and still not here. Nobody picks up the phone, I don’t even know how to ask for a refund at this point. Clearly they are collecting orders and just not delivering! AVOID!

Ordered from the restaurant today through Uber eats. My delivery was 1.5 hours delayed and when it finally turned up my pho broth was cold and the summer rolls where warm. I was very excited about this meal but all that waiting time didn’t benefit the food. I’m not sure who’s fault it is. I also ordered rare beef but I got beef brisket :(

Such a disappointment. I paid nearly £20 for 2 papaya salads and all I received was a few shreds of carrot and papaya and a handful of peanuts. It was less than a handful per portion. I wish I could upload a photo. Unbelievable.

After our meal the chap showed us downstairs to this little hidden Karaoke bar. Felt like such an original and honest restaurant. The menu displayed alot of original dishes which were served with good humour and vietnemes smiles. I am Surprised I didnt order more food.

I’m shocked this place has less than 4 stars! The food was delicious, arrived promptly and the service was impeccable. Also really enjoyed the decor and they allowed us to bring alcohol for £2.50 corkage. Really great place for an easy, casual meal with friends.

Used to be great, but today was awful. I have not been here for 2 years, but I think the Menü changed, and the food used to be really tasty - so disappointed... Vietnamese springroll should not be fried, ever! And the rest was some sort of gluey Asien stuff, but hardly Vietnamese...Never again

The food was a mix of very good and average, and was only worth it because we booked through first table. The waiter seemed confused at all times. We were also asked to to buy dessert to complete the first table offer, which did not match their note online which simply said you needed to order two courses - apparently entres don't count as a course. Then when we asked for the bill they charged is £12 for corkage rather than the quoted £2 pp. All in all an ordinary experience.

I'm chef, and I love quality food and service. I would give 4.6* for food. Squid was little over salted, spring roll little under salted but good flavours, fresh, nice. Roast duck with rice and wonton soup great, fast served. Hot food have to be served on hot plates. But even our food was nice hot, all the plates are cold. I think it would help the restaurant if they improve it. I'd give 3.5 star for front of house. I asked for the menu, and I asked if I can place my order. But definitelly this restaurant in my experience 5 star (4.6*). I recommend this restaurant.
