Great little authentic sushi-ya at Richmond. The Tuna (Toro) was splendid! The service provided by the owner is exceptional, making you feel comfortable and happy every second of the experience. We definitely will come back.

i come here once every couple weeks the food never disappoints and the owner is always so lovely providing great service and great conversation. would definitely recommend to people who love fresh and tasty sushi. i’ve been to many sushi restaurants even big ones like Nobu but Hanana is still number 1 for me :)

Very authentic and delicious jap rest

Best Japanese food I have had. Food was freshly made in front of us. Had a lovely conversation with the friendly chef who was knowledgable about the food and different combination to have - the food reflected his expertise. Food came 10 minutes after ordered and tasted delicious, succulent and fresh. The restaurant's Japanese atmosphere and ambience - alongside with the relaxing music being played in the background made our experience a 10/10. Can not recommend this spot any more if you live or visit Richmond, definitely will come back here! Thank you to the amazing chef!

Hidden gem. A truly unique and authentic sushi experience - exceeds expectations every time! I’ve probably eaten here more than 30 times and will eagerly continue. Gluten free options and gf tamari sauce. Get the drink of your choice from across the street as there is no alcohol license.

My 6 years old and myself had a show at Richmond theatre so decided to stop by this well rated Japanese restaurant for some lunch. It was very small so we decide to just order a take away. The sashimi were badly cut with some bones in it. Quality of the salmon was not great with quite a lot of fat. Disappointing.

The restaurant is small with only 8 seats, the table was sticky to the point where my bowl was stuck. Food was not what we expected to be, we ordered a sushi and seafood bento and it came out with 3 pieces of maki that had no fish in it, the fried seafood with rice was wet and not fresh.

This is our favourite local restaurant. Excellent fresh sushi prepared right in front of you. It's a very small space, so you get great attention and service from the wonderful chef. We love the prawn tempura uramaki and the spicy tuna uramaki, too.

One of the best sushi bars i have ever visited.Homemade, free refill tea and the last delicious sushi edition was his own Idea and guess what you eat it only by using your hands. Do not forget to taste it. Congrats!

Unbelievably good sushi. We stayed at the Orange Tree Hotel a couple of doors down, and tried take away from here. Wow! Everything was fresh, delicious and expertly made. The salmon sashimi salad was perfect, with a dressing that worked perfectly with the fish and lettuce. The sushi rolls were tasty and a good size for the price. The large platter has a signature roll that is unique to this shop (the chef proudly pointed it out to me). It was really amazingly good. Great find! Note: they only have room for six to eat at a time. Bring patience!

Why not have decency to inform on maps that they are closed? Hungry and upset.

Takeaway from Hanana - fantastic sushi and I plan to keep going back again and again

Jackie makes the best sushi I have ever eaten plus he honours and cares for any allergies or intolerances. I have eaten Sushi across the world and he beats Nobu every time!! I always bring my mom when she visits, it’s also the favourite place for me and my girlfriend. Thank you for the amazing food and hospitality.

I was intrigued, given the great reviews and would love a delightful local sushi place. However, I would say this place is just average and one notch higher than Itsu, as the sushi is served at room temperature vs being from a refrigerator. However, the quality of the fish and texture of the rice is nothing to write home about.

Hanana Sushi is a cozy little restaurant where the chef prepares the sushi in front of you. The service is friendly and pretty quick. The food is delicious. If you ask questions the chef will give you all of the explanation you need. The hanana futo is their creation and it is a real specialty. Highly recommended!

I can't go to Richmond any more without finding an excuse to go to this place. The owner is a great guy and a fantastic chef and I love the intimacy of yhe restaurant. Have to second the recommendations on the Hanana Futomaki.

The food here is outstanding. Dont be put off by the humble shop front and tiny space. This is a hidden jem with the highest quality sushi and sashimi.

Best sushi in london. Incredibly fresh fish. Sometimes he has off menu fish too try like otoro. Try the hanana futo ! A must have at this establishment Doesn’t have beers etc, but usually happy for you to bring your own.

One of the best sushi places I have visited, I rarely give 5 but had to. Get yourself there, only a few seats so if its full go orange tree which is next door and keep checking.

A gem of authentic Japanese food in a surprising location. Great food and great service, if there were 6 stars I would use it now. Recommend the Hanana futomaki, really rich and different.

1) As an Asian I really don’t think the food here is authentic Japanese. 2) Also the chef has a blaming attitude to the customer that made me really not comfortable. I ordered 2 dinner set and 2 miso soup, we got 2 miso soup with only 1 set. Initially I didn’t realize there was anything wrong cause sometimes restaurants do take their time. However, when my husband asked the chef, he quickly answered because I only said 1 dinner set, which is NOT true and why he didn’t even think it might be that he didn’t listen it clearly then just blame me??? I will never come here again given this terrible and rude experience.

If you come to Richmond and don't visit this place then I'm not sure what's wrong with you. All jokes aside, this place has some of the best authentic sushi. So fresh, and the specialty roll from the chef will leave you coming back again and again. You will not be disappointed.

Loved this tiny sushi joint by Richmond station. Such a surprise find. They have about 6 coverings but they do takeout and service is fast so every one hour or so you should be able to dine in. The sushi is good, not amazing, but competitively priced and the ambiance is lovely. They also serve various hot dishes like tempura, beef and chicken.

Went here tonight for dinner and I have to say it was the nicest sushi I've had in a long long time. Definitely the best in the area. Everything tasted very fresh, there was nothing we didn't enjoy.They only do collection not delivery but its totally worth it the trip the pick it up.I usually buy my sushi in other places in Richmond and its all pretty average, this is better than any other oferring and it's very reasonably priced.I will be back, I would highly recommend it to anyone

Jackie, the owner and the chef, is a spectacular artist, passionate about what he does, and cares deeply about his customers and his food. Ask for his invention which is a uniquely wrapped triple fish Japanese delight.

I'm not sure why this place has such good reviews. I only went the once but I have to say the sushi was not as I expected at all given these reviews. The texture of the rice was terrible. Maybe it was just our order or he didn't have time to cool it before rolling.

Come here if you want some warm and sticky sushi nigiri. The restaurant is very dirty as well.

We've been ordering here for the past 5 years and the sushi here is unfailingly the best, with generous fillings and the expertise of a former luxury hotel restaurant in Japan.

Such a gem - discovered this little Japanese restaurant by chance and I'm so happy I did! The food is delicious and fresh, and the chef was very attentive and polite. Would give it more stars if I could.

Overcharged! No receipt was offered. Ordered a small sushi set for £15.5. Found out the very next day I was charged £25.5 Had to drive there again to get it sorted. The sushi were good, no complaints. Check your receipts!

Absolutely can't recommend this enough at how good it is, beautifully fresh and handmade sushi and amazing quality of ingredients and fish no matter made in the restaurant or delivered. In the photo is Hanana set platter and additional scallops Gunkan which is our favourite. If in Richmond, it's a must visit.
