Hamiltons Club in Torbay

We came for Sunday lunch. The service was attentive and friendly. We had a lovely table next to the window in the bar. Even the music suited and was just the right volume and the right style. The food was amazing, we had a variety of starters - scotch egg, duck tart and fish cakes and all were cooked perfectly and extremely tasty. We then had beef and some had chicken and the meat was perfectly cooked. It all came with a selection of vegetables which were presented well and again perfectly cooked. We had desserts too and again, just right. Thank you, we will be back for sure.

Myself and my partner came here midweek for evening meal. I must say the food was outstanding. The service was also very good too. We will definitely be back.

Went to Hamiltons for the first time today. Lovely place to eat. I had tapas with my partner, he ordered squid, I ordered the pork in sauce and we shared the potato dish that had pulled pork and Leicester cheese melted over it. All dishes were cooked perfectly. Can't wait to go back, lovely, friendly staff.

Delicious tapas Visited Friday evening for tapas. Absolutely delicious food . So tasty and cannot fault any of the dishes we tried . Good value for money too with each tapas dish costing between £5-£8 . We wanted to try every dish on the menu as they all sounded so lovely. Would highly recommend

Called in for a quick drink and ordered several of the tapas dishes. All were very nicely presented, tasty and just the right portion size. Beers and wines were good and fairly priced. The service was friendly and efficient and we will definitely return.

Think this may have changed ownership/management early this year as it would only appear to have been serving tapas. We settled on three, the prawns in chilli £7.95 (six) , the scampi style monkfish £7.25 (six) and the charcuterie board £9.95. We also had a bottle of wine. Bill was over £45. The board just had a few slices of bread/baguette and some crackers, a couple of processed cheese slices, parma ham , salami, a tiny amount of fish pate, plus the inevitable dipping oil. We asked if we could have a little more bread please, and were told this was only available as a 'basket'. We were charged £4.25 for a few more slices of bread, some butter and again, the inevitable dipping oil (the original with the charcuterie board was untouched). Although we couldn't fault the quality of the food, it was very expensive and we felt really cheated having to pay so much extra for a bread roll! Views are good. though atmosphere was lacking. Cannot recommend.

Food OK. We had the charcuterie board, the prawns (five in the dish for £7.95) and the monkfish scampi (six in the dish for £7.25) ) to share between two as a main meal. We also had a bottle of wine. Total cost just over £45). The charcuterie board had just a few very small slices of stale white bread along with the usual anti-pasti so why they included a small bowl of dipping oil as well is quite beyond me. We asked could we have more bread please and were told this would have to be a 'basket'. This cost £4.25 and was the equivalent of a small piece (half at most) of a baguette. It did though, come with (drum roll) another bowl of dipping oil. Early evening and Hamiltons mostly empty - Babbacombe Inn next door is heaving. For a drink and a quick tapas, OK - tasty. Cannot recommend as a main meal and felt quite ripped off paying £4.25 for a few slices of bread after having already spent over £45. Shocking!! As regular visitors to the area, will not be going to Hamiltons again and cannot recommend.

Can't fault it popped in prior to theatre trip. No problem accommodating us, had a selection of tapas dishes all good. Staff very polite and helpful.

Great lunch at the Hamiltons, tasty food , suggestions: pork belly, arancini and squid are absolutely delicious and cheesecake at the end. Staff are professional and friendly with particular attention to customers. Will be back soon

Visited Hamilton on a Sunday lunchtime for a couple of cocktails and lunch. I ordered a beef & horseradish ciabatta with roast potatoes. The beef was tender, the ciabatta was fresh and with the added gravy inside it tasted delicious! My husband had the turkey & cranberry ciabatta which was equally delicious. The service was great and a lovely ambiance too! We’ll certainly be back!

Great food and hard working staff as usual will be back again asap as it’s the best restaurant around the area of Babbacombe Maybe need one more staff member as other staff are a bit rushed at times but coped well anyway A great service

A jewel of a venue on the front at Babbacombe, and a place that feels classy and somewhat indulgent compared to some of the other places along the front. The tapas menu is excellent and there are also some very good, and reasonably priced wines on offer. On a sunny, summers day it is most definitely the place to sit outside, but inside is equally delightful. The table service here is both friendly and attentive

Had the best cocktails I have ever tasted here! The Pornstar Martinis are to die for! Such a lovely place, beautiful decor. Highly recommended, I will definitely be back! A gem of a find!

Perfect venue ! We came to hamiltons for a birthday treat. The tapas selection was incredible. The honey chilli king prawns were out of this world. The strawberry daiquiri was so refreshing. Best one yet! And to top it off the service was second to none. Marie the manager could not have done more. She ensured all customers were treated and friends and provided a service with a smile. Will definitely be back soon.

Popped in for a light lunch on Fathers Day, I’d left it late to book anywhere so was lucky to be able to walk in here without a reservation. The food was delicious, we had 5 tapas between 2 & it was plenty. The 2 ladies working were very very busy but friendly & always with a smile on their faces, we’ll be back!

Our first night in Babbacombe was as usual exploring the local area for food and drink venues. After walking along the Downes Clifftop we found Hamiltons, the outside seating area was in the sun, so we grabbed a table and ordered drinks. The staff were super friendly and professional, one of them fell in love with our wee dog. We looked at the Tapas Menu, but didn’t order, it had a good selection though. We did see some other table food orders and it did look very good! Really lovely first evening chilling with a beer in a lovely location!

Popped in with a family member on a Wednesday night for a quick drink and was very impressed. From the outside to inside, it looks very elegant and the staff were excellent. Did not eat there myself (only had a drink at the bar) but will definitely be going there soon with my wife. Had an amazing meal at this lovely restaurant. The waiter was very attentive and service was excellent. The standard of food is Michelin star level and at a reasonable price. It was a quiet evening with only a few parties dinning and unfortunately the atmosphere was ok but I would imagine on a busy evening the place would be amazing. Definitely will be returning.

It was the first time I have been to Hamiltons and didn’t really know what to expect but it was great. It was a quiet week night and all the staff were really friendly and helpful. Joe was amazing and went over and above and really made the night for us. Food also delicious. Will definitely be going back. Had a turkey meal but couldn't cut the meat, it was very tough. We mentioned this to the lovely waiter at the time and afterwards, my sister wrote to the management to make them aware of the issue. The response she received was unbelievable. The tone of the reply was condescending and rude, there was no hint of any apology or any reassurance that the matter would be looked at, in fact there was an implication that she was lying and there was nothing wrong with the meat. It ended by banning our whole party from returning to Hamilton's. Not the kind of customer service you should expect from a place that considers itself to be a "Fine dining" establishment.

Our friends had mentioned Hamiltons on several occasions so when they booked for a late lunch à few weeks back we thought, great, we'll join you. While the staff were friendly and attentive, and we weren't rushed in any way, the Sunday Roast we were served was sadly disappointing. In fact all four meals were under par for what is a premier dining venue. The expectation, when you are paying £17 each for what is basically a carvery, is that the quality is going to be excellent. Had a meal at Hamiltons last week for the first time and it was superb. Joe, our waiter, made incredible suggestions for both of my guests - they went exactly with his selection and were talking about it all the way home! I had the vegetarian options, which were not the generic veggie options I see everywhere (so refreshing!) and they were absolutely delicious. Joe was a delight and we will be back hoping to be seated with him again! 5 stars would highly recommend!

A very nice restaurant, very welcoming staff, good location to where we was staying in Torquay. The atmosphere was perfect. The pate for starter was lovely but the Seafood Bouillabaise was very disappointing. The sauce was incorrect for the dish, almost too beefy which didn't complement the fish. I think the chef was out of his/her league on this dish.

Excellent food with top class presentation and perfect professional first class customer service. Steak cooked perfectly as ordered. Fish falling off bone, delicious. Won't hesitate to return....seems a shame its in babbacombe, just hope they can get enough trade to stay there.
