Half Moon in East Riding of Yorkshire

We stayed for 2 nights here on a pitch for our motor home, beautiful walking places, so peaceful, we also booked a table for our dinner in the pub, the food was very tasty would recommend the chicken strips for starters, Texan burger was fantastic, very friendly people and a great place to stay.

Absolutely outstanding food and fantastic service. Highly recommend and will definitely be returning. Staff serving are amazing very friendly absolute credit to the half moon

So where do I begin! Im normally loathe to give 5 stars as it really has to be something special and in this case, it really is! I was in the area for an event so I was staying in one of the cosy half moon cabins, on the rear of the property in the campsite. I originally planned on eating elsewhere but I decided I want to have a drink with my food so I came back and I am SO SO glad I did. Main meal very well priced Chicken Korma with poppadom and the option or rice and chips in one! Absolutely brilliant!! The portion was sublime and the sauce was absolutely incredible! The coconut wasnt overwhelming and it had a tangy sweetness I have never had in a korma before that worked beautifully!! Desert was white chocolate cheesecake with cream. The slice was fantastic! And loads of cream to lather to your hearts content, also a part of it. Or the option of ice cream or custard. The white chocolate seemed more vanilla than white chocolate but that really is not a disappointment by any stretch!! These two portions and my pint filled me up completely and my compliments to the chef as I was informed by the landlord the next morning, all home made!!!! I would travel the 5 hours all over just to have that meal again!! Not only was the food brilliant but the facilities were lovely. Its a cosy warm area where unlike most pub villages you walk into, this one you get no staring down and the front of house staff were so lovely and attentive! I paid 20 for the meal but gave an extra 5 with a promise of spreading the word. The room I stayed in was absolutely sublime. I payed 50 in total for a room that had a double bed and tv. Tea and coffee next to the bed and even a wardrobe for the long term stay. The shower room with a good working toilet and shower that was lovely and delightful! If I have any complaints its that may be the towels were a bit stiff but being someone who uses an airer as opposed to a tumble dryer, I know its an unwanted side effect. The location was gorgeous! The river walks are stunning and even with the campsite, there was no disruptions for me in any way shape or form. Its not far from Goole so conversely not far from the M62. Only 5 miles from that main town, and a little shop in the next town if you should need it, this spot is ideal and I am already planning another trip to take a fellow trip friend along to try this food!! I travelled solo and the cabin was perfect for that, even a couple would be very comfortable. The campsite has some good facilities available and it looked very popular with families. I was also most pleased that the manager/landlord was always nearby with his contact number in the room as well. This spot really was absolutely stupendous, even on my own the lack of wifi in the cabin was quite peaceful if anything but I knew if required, wifi is available in the pub area. Will definitely be back so a big BIG thank you to the half moon team!!!

Visited on Friday 25th August to find the bar busy and a birthday celebration and only one young girl managing 2 sides of the bar. Bless her, she kept apologising for the wait but it was clearly not her fault. After about 10 minutes I was finally served and with a big apology. We had booked a Sunday dinner for the weekend but after a disgusting experience on the associated campsite and lack of interest from management we did not want to waste any more money on this business. Not the fault of the staff at this pub but 'taking the pee' springs to mind.

What a great campsite ! We came here with a group of 30+ friends and family and had a fantastic time 👍 I would thoroughly recommend the food at the pub -right next door - especially the Sunday carvery !! We live in Wakefield and have discussed going back just for the carvery !! The campsite does what it says on the tin - great siting, electric and ablutions (pay as you go showers, but so what!) Andy the owner should be so proud of this site, he also serves Sunday dinner - so is a busy bloke , but always on hand if anyone had any issues with longer electric cables etc etc. If you want a nice place to camp with friends and family, with a huge area for children to play and just be kids… THIS IS THE PLACE !👍👍👍

Was really looking forward to eating here after seeing the good reviews however our experience was nothing short of tragic. Went for the nachos as a starter and instead i was presented with a single layer of tortillas that had been nuked in the microwave with flavourless mozzarella cheese and a few bacon strips tossed on the top; no sour cream/ guacamole just a solitary brown looking miniature side dish of jarred salsa. Lift up the first layer of nachos and they’re all completely dry no cheese nothing. After being presented with that I had little hope for the main. Chips that were burnt and a deep brown/orange colour look like they have been refried 27 times. The beef burger had the most unpleasant strange flavour. Again with nuked mozzarella cheese driest concoction ive ever had the misfortune of putting into my mouth. Avoid this place !!!

Absolutely brilliant Sunday lunch , great choice of meats and a vast selection of vegetables. I would say its the best roast pork I've ever had . Friendly atmosphere and great staff.

Excellent food , chef Dave is amazing , friendly staff , great efficient service food excellent , would recommend to anyone wanting quality food at a great price . Garlic mushrooms for starters Texas chilli burger was wonderful and braised beef in red wine was truly amazing , can’t recommend enough thank you so much

We used to have an annual camping trip to this place but unfortunately because of the incompetence of the leaseholder (Andy) we cancelled this years weekend trip. He totally messed up the pod bookings and our members found him abrupt over the phone. There would have been well over 50 of us going this year and we would have booked for the carvery as usual. Manners cost nothing but in this case it has cost you plenty. Note to the owner….replace Mr arrogant (Andy).

Great site, lovely views. There was a 50th bash in the neighbouring property which actually heightened our stay as it provides us with great music at a volume we wouldn't normally have felt we could have got away with....but there festivities stoped at a reasonable water shed. The pub itself was popular, we only had aspal bit the food was drawing in the crowds so must be good! We had a nice wander along the bank with our pooch so we had a lovely stay and would recommend.

We arrived for a 2 night stay and Andy was excellent. Someone was on our pitch but he soon arrived and got us another one. Site was very peaceful and tidy. Showers were fab, alot of people saying too hot but there is a dial to turn them down if the temp is too much for you. Andy was quick to respond to texts and also came and checked on us the next morning after my little ones hayfever flared. The kids loved watching the ships go by on the river. The showers are £1 for 2 mins which I've seen some harsh comments on, but the cheap price you pay for the pitch and electric I don't think it's fair to complain you have to pay to use the shower. We had the carvery on the Sunday at the pub and oh my, it is worth the drive just for the carvery. The price we paid with ehu we will definitely be back!!!!

We stayed at the Halfmoon over Easter and this was our 4th visit and as always had a great stay. The ground was wet but that was due to the recent bad weather, this wasn’t too much of a problem though as the owners were on hand to tow people out if they were stuck. We ate in the pub on Friday night and the food and service for all 13 of us was great. Thank you Andy, Sharon and all the team that make it work.

Had Ribey steak medium rare and it just fell to bits in my mouth, absolutely unbelievable, and I usually have 1 issue at least. If I had to be over the top critical maybe the garlic sauce could be slightly thicker, but still gorgeous. Best I've had in a long time. Highly recommended.

We booked a 12 o’clock sitting for carvery on Mother’s Day and had an excellent experience from start to finish. A very warm welcome and shown to our seat. Straight up to the carvery and the food was beautiful. The belly pork is beautiful as was the gammon as you can have a bit of your choice of meats. Lots of fresh vegetables to go at and Yorkshire puddings to rival any plus a choice of meat and onion gravy 👌.

Spent two nights on site which was clean and tidy, easy to pitch up even our late check was seamless having the information text to us on the day of arrival. Really welcoming pub with a good range of beers and superb food served up...

Camped on site for the weekend and it’s a great location with well looked after and clean pitches including electric hook up at a great price. Andy makes you feel welcome and is on hand any time should you have any problems. The bar and restaurant onsite has a great atmosphere and the staff are all friendly.And as for the food we had chilli prawns for starters then salt & pepper chicken burgers for the main and it was amazing! We will definitely be back soon.

We came here on the 25th August and took advantage of the Eat out to help out scheme , we were quickly seated and our order was taken within 10 minutes , the pub and restaurant is very clean with nice decor, the meal was delicious, I chose the Chilli garlic chicken and was not disappointed, it was beautifully presented the chicken was very succulent, and the Mediterranean vegetables were cooked to perfection, would thoroughly recommend this little pub which is situated in the little village of Reedness , very welcoming and friendly pub which serves proper tasty homemade grub

Camped here for one night with a group of friends, lovely big pitches with nice clean facilities. They’ve added a little play area and washing up facilities since my last trip. We ate in the restaurant and food was lovely, all staff were great and very friendly.We were only 10 minutes from home but we could’ve been a million miles away! We’ll be back!

Cannot fault Andy! Absolutely nothing was too much trouble. A quick text to restock blue roll and he went out of his way to sort this within minutes. He even sorted the lights near the toilets as they were quite bright in the tents on the pitches near the toilets. An excellent site manager and a genuinely nice bloke to speak to. Out every morning litter picking and he's always around if you need anything. Toilets and showers were clean. The site itself was well maintained and pleasant in a lovely area. The playground for the kids was a hit too. We would highly recommend a visit to 'West Park' if you have kids, which is a short drive from the campsite. Excellent facilities and a very beautiful park which is maintained very well. Lots of people on bikes here too which we will be taking when we visit again. We booked into the pub which I would recommend doing before your visit as it was very busy. Food was fantastic but service was pretty slow - they squeezed us in as we hadn't booked so can't moan about this really. Everyone was really friendly and pleasant to speak to.We will definitely be returning. Excellent value for money. A lovely site and an extremely helpful manager of the campsite itself.

Stayed 2 nights here with wife kids and another family , absolutely cracking campsite , all the facilities you would need for camping were there showers , toilet block , washing area , safe and secure kids could just go and play either on the little park area or football without having to worry about them , the host was more than helpful , would highly recommend and will definitely be returning in the future

A flying visit for myself & daughter but will certainly be returning !!We ate at the restaurant and it was absolutely fabulous! Had the nicest Roast Pork belly and my daughter had Carbonara... only grumble was there was no New Zealand Sauvignon but had plenty in the tent lol Lovely sunset over the river watching the boats sail past in the evenings Facilities cleaned regularly and owners don’t like to over fill to ensure cleanliness and great service Can’t wait to go back with my other half’s kids and stay longer Thanks

My daughter and I camped here for three nights this week. We were greeted by the owner as soon as we arrived and showed us to our spot and pointed things out for us. Each space for us has plenty of room on there and since they are all around the edge there is a big patch of grass in the middle for moving along, playing on for kids and dogs etc. without encroaching on other people's spaces.There is a little play arra for the kids and the rover is just over the hill to view and the kids seem entertained enough with passing ships. There is all the needed facilities on site, wash area, toilets, and showers (take pound coins with you, I found £3 for 6 minutes ample time, quick tip get ready before putting the money in as the timer starts as soon as you put the coins in). You can go for a walk along the river which is nice to do each morning. It tooks us an hour from the site to get to the east coast, we went to bridlington. We didn't eat at the restaurant, however on Mondays they do have takeaway pizza available and most other campers I saw took advantage of this and said they really enjoyed them. Overall it was a lovely, pleasant amd quiet stay and would certainly visit again amd next time try the pub food out.

We have arrived today it's a Lovely little site with a nice park for the kids, very welcoming staff and owners. The landlord was lovely and really helpful. We met the chef Johnny and he was very friendly and told us we should go for a meal at the restaurant, it was absolutely delicious, the best pub food we have ever had. Went here to a Cheaky blinders gig. What a great place to camp. Beer is cheap and the Sunday lunch was gorgeous with a huge Yorkshire pudding and really good value. Andy his wife and staff were all lovely. Can't wait to return

Coming away during a pandemic was always going to be a slightly nerve-wracking affair but any nerves we had were squashed as soon as we arrived.Andy and Sharon have gone over and above to try and ensure anyone camping or dining are as safe as possible.We camped in the large field and were suported to keep as isolated as possible without even having to ask.The whole site and pub were clean and regularly recleaned every day. The dining area was strictly limited with bookings only to ensure safety.You could order food to take back to your motorhome, tent or van and the quality of the food was just outstanding.What we didn't expect and was staggering, was how they supported a small fun, very well policed mini music event and sitting in the van watching bands while people relaxed in marked out bubbles was staggering and a testament to how live music can be done and comply to social distancing and safety regulations.Thanks Half Moon, we haven't been out since Feb and I've worked flat out continually, we never expected such a relaxing break and to feel so safe. First class meal gluten free catered for and chef that took time to speak to guests. Owners top class very friendly not in your face but nothing too much trouble. Pitch didn't get boggy despite heavy rain great family laid back atmasphere can't wait to go again.

Spent two nights in our van in this small,excellently managed campsite behind the pub. The pub food (well restaurant food really) is excellent and the beer was very good. Toilets were immaculately clean and the owners and staff very friendly and helpful. Didn't use the showers while there (we're scruffy you know) but the block seemed as well kept as the rest of the site. Views over the river were great. Unfortunately nearby wildlife centre was closed but we found an excellent nature reserve in Goole.Will definitely visit again and only £14 per night !! (£18 with hook up) Very reasonable when many other sites have raised their prices after enforced covid shut down.

Just spent a weekend with friends(south bank scooter club) at this lovely little site £13 a night for campingThe pub on site is very reasonably priced and the food is superb The site is equipped enough I had no problems using any facilities and was able to keep all social distancing protocolThe site owner is a great bloke leaves you to do your thing but is always available if you need anything

stayed last weekend in the field behind the pub (10/07/2020)site awesome, views out of the back we're fab. Facilites really clean and well looked after (fab showers). The staff and the guy (sorry forgot your name!) we're really friendly and nothing was a problem. Our new goto camp site!

Another fantastic Sunday carvery at the Half moon Reedness food and staff were amazing as always can't wait for the next one.

Takeaway Sunday Lunch is excellent.We are Sunday lunch regulars and wouldn't go anywhere else.Sharon ,Andy and staff are very welcoming. Highly recommend.

Just had another magnificent Sunday Lunch. It seems to have become a bit of a Sunday tradition in our household, as we have ordered a take away Sunday Lunch for the past 3 weeks. Social distancing rules are strictly adhered to and the food is mouth-wateringly delicious. You just book a slot, pick your food and take it away.Thank you Andy and Sharon, you are amazing!

Decide to have someone else cook Sunday lunch for first time in lockdown. Been a couple of times for Events but never eaten from here.But I’ll say this now Takeaway Carvery was excellent phoned and reserved a slot, took my own plates large of course, went in on time and plenty of options, cracking service from the Barrass’s and staff, food piping hot so when got home 10 minute journey was still warm. Thoroughly enjoyed it, I will be back prob next week ha

Just placed a hopeful booking for the half moon in campsite, spoke to the boss, Andy works for her lol, people forget about campsite owners are coping and I for 1 can not wait to get there and be part of the family they made us feel with all there locals, all respect to them, they are a great family.
