Lovely meal, excellent service albeit on a quiet evening - a warm welcome and delicious food

Stopped in on our way south.Gorgeous food, worth the wait. Lovely service too. Would definitely come back if we ever get the chance.

Amazing food and had the chance to try some Nepalese dishes. The staff were super helpful as I asked for a slight change on my main course, not a problem. Finally value for money, I’m recommending this place to everyone

Had to meals here one wasn't that great really compared to my local down south curry places, plus I was the only one in the restaurant. Went again second meal way better. Staff very friendly. Price is ok

Paid in full order never arrived, I called them they were very unapologetic and told me it wasn’t their fault and to call just eat, I called again after contacting just eat to be told it happens …. Shame decent food, very disappointing. I ordered from them once a week so much to customer loyalty x

Absolutely marvellous, you van really taste the flavours for ages after eating the delicious spicy curries. I won't be going anywhere else for Indian. Smashing people who are warm and welcoming too. Thanks!

Absolutely shocking, vegetarian chilli massage frozen peas, carrots sweetcorn, inedible onion basis, thae the whole meal was stodgy and not edible just a plate of mush !!!!

This was our first time going and the reason we did was because my son had ordered on line from them and it was the best curry we have had so when I found out that they had a restaurant we had to try it. We was not disappointed the service was excellent and the food was amazing you are not rushed and they leave a nice little gap between staters and main meal so you can have a nice conversation with who you go with and it is not expensive and the size of the portions was really good I will definitely be going again and I would highly recommend anyone wanting to go to go and have a look and try it. Really really nice food and stuff out. Very pleasant

New years eve 22/23 we were walking past and went in to ask if we could eat. They sorted us a table and the food was really brilliant. You cant get a table on new years eve anywhere usually so well done and thanks. I will go back next night out we have in Doncaster. Thanks Gurkha Lounge.

Been here many times and have never had a meal that wasn’t great. The staff are excellent and although it’s a small venue it has a good atmosphere

Me,hubby and our 2 friends went for a meal last night,we all had a great night and really enjoyed our meals.the sauce on my paneer masala was beautiful and very tasty. Peshawari nan bread the best I've had.my husbands butter chicken was so tasty.and my friend loved her chicken jalfrezi,we carnt wait to come back.very reasonable prices, lovely friendly staff. Oh Dear. Was so looking forward to visiting this after so many recommendations. The food wasn't exactly anything to rave about. "Garlic" mushrooms, anything but. A Chicken Puri starter that was mor of a main course. So much so the person whoi had it couldn't finish their main course. Lamb Biriyani was dry. The accompanying sauce being exactly the same as every other dish served. At least the Champagne was cold. And the service is really excellent. Just such a shame about the rest of it. Very Disappointed

Mediocre. That's the best we can rate it. Mediocre. The staff wre tremendously friendly, that can't be faulted, but the food wasn't exactly anything to rave about. The lamb in the Biriyani was overcooked and as dry as the Gobi desert. Other dishes that the party had weren't exactly anything to shout about by any standard and it was such a shame as we were all looking forward to it as it had been recommended by a few friends we know every time we visit Doncaster. Would we visit again? Doubtful.

Been looking for a decent Indian to sit in and have a meal since we moved to the area in November/December time and we have finally found one! Just come across this place by driving past and I’m glad we did! Staff are great, very helpful and attended to all needs for me, partner and our daughter who’s only 2! Food was amazing from the pickle tray to the curry. I had chicken tikka masala which was beautiful and my partner had a garlic chicken curry which he said was fantastic. We enjoyed it that much we went back a couple of days later and will be going weekly from now on! Definitely recommend for couples, families, business!

Me and the wife booked a table at short notice Saturday night 25/3/23 we’ve never been before and didn’t know what to expect but wow we wasn’t disappointed the food was lovely I had the chicken balti and the wife had tender lamb dish for mains both lovely and fresh tasting the service was excellent not rushed between courses nice drinks too and excellent value for money will definitely be returning next time we’re in Doncaster

I'll start off by saying the waiter was incredible, fantastic customer service skills. Maybe a little slow bringing drinks out but great otherwise. The food was mediocre. It did not live up to the hype at all. Garlic mushroom starter, as a customer reading that on the menu, one would assume it was mushrooms in garlic butter as the menu had zero description however it came in a red tomato spicy sauce. The chicken Puri is described as "medium spicy chicken served on deep fried chapati bread". What arrived was basically a huge wrap. The chicken was inside the chapati and was not starter sized. Chicken was tough and chewy. Rice and Naans were gorgeous however main curries were not with mixed reviews by the party. Korma, Biryani and Madras were tasty but nothing special, however the Passanda was tasteless. Again chicken was tough and chewy. Lamb was nice. Not a huge selection of drinks available. Good enough for a takeaway but not a restaurant.

Excellent food as always, great customer services too. Lovely little restaurant with a great atmosphere and the staff are very attentive and always take the time to have a conversation with you.

We love The Ghurka Lounge but I wouldn’t go again on a Saturday It was spur of the moment and they did get us in but it just felt a bit chaotic The young man serving was his usual cheerful helpful self but it was clear to see he needed some help. The phone was constantly ringing no one had time to answer it and I think the decision had been made to not take anymore order but the phone just kept ringing Drove me mad. Despite that The food was very good. We love the Nepalese dumplings the naan bread was gorgeous the best king prawn purée I’ve had in Doncaster. We will definitely be back but not on a Saturday

Really disappointed, first time I've ordered from here. Average food quality, side salad was a joke, tiny bit of lettuce 1 slice of cucumber and a slice of carrot does not qualify as a side salad and all the food was nearly cold by the time it arrived, l won't be ordering again.

We were in Doncaster for the racing and usually check out which of the local curry houses to visit for a night out. We walked to the Gurkha Lounge during the day, just to check the venue out, but the shutters were down, so was unable to see what might be in store for our visit. We booked a table, and arrived slightly early, but without any fuss was seated and drinks were offered, and promptly served. The restaurant was empty upon arrival, although most tables had reserved signs on them. Decor was clean, and upon entry lights were put on and background music played. Menus were brought to the table, and we were allowed plenty of time to choose, and our waiter was polite, helpful, and attentive, in helping us choose, but not overbearing. Poppadums' with the usual 4 pickles were served promptly, lime pickle was very spicy, but not overpowering, just right, for me, mate wasn't keen on that one though, wimp! Main dishes were ordered and we were kept informed how long they would be. My mate had Ceylon curry, which was a mild/hot coconut and he was full of praise for it, I went for a mixed Nepalese curry and asked how hot this was, and advised they could make it just as I'd like, so went for Jalfrezi which was just enough heat, and spice. Lamb was soft and tender, chicken, and prawns too. We both went for Gurkha rice (house special I believe) which included minced beef and prawns and was delicious. Good portions of both curry and rice so very happy, and we shared a naan between us, which was just about enough rather than 1 each.. The only downside to the evening was there were no desserts, which we weren't made aware of at the time of booking or ordering our mains, (they were on the menus) so we would have had starters had we known that instead! Overall a very good experience. Food was delicious, reasonably priced, good ambience , and the waiter was on good terms with all the diners, who all seemed to enjoy the food, and several rebooked for another time. Great food, good value, was made to feel very welcome. Would definitely visit again, were I not to live in Kent, but will visit again next time we visit Donny!

Went Thursday 4th August at 7pm great service for 1st time given plenty of time to browse menu without interruptions .wonderful food not rushed between courses . Tried dishes off Nepalese section Lamb royal lovely and tender just right level of spices you could taste. Well be returning. Prices very good well done

Quality food, Best Nepalese in town. Nice thick quality cuts of lamb and chicken from a local butcher and fresh vegetables used daily. Famously friendly and lovely owners/managers in the two brothers that run the place. I feel like a friend of the place when ever I go.

This is the second time we've ordered takeaway from the Gurka Lounge and our overall assessment of the food is worthy of a 5 star rating. The delivery drivers had polite and respectful manners. We would definitely recommend.

went here on 25th February 2022. The welcome was warm and the surroundings clean and pleasant. The food was served promptly but we were not rushed. Clean and very tasty food followed. If I loved nearer I would go more frequently.

The best Nepalese restaurant in Doncaster and miles out the next best one is in Redford which is just as good come here please and experience traditional food from Nepal it is a mind blowing experience

Ate there last night the food was excellent we had all Nepalese of a very varied menu ,everything was very well cooked and plenty of it . The service was also faultless will definitely recommend.

We have eaten here several times in the last year. The food and service is superb. This evening we asked for recommendations and as good as my food was I know my wife won, her Gurkha lamb was melt in the mouth delicious. On top of great mains the pickle tray is generous and tasty, the onion bhaji's are made to perfection and the staff are welcoming, friendly and knowledge. Our eldest enjoyed the chicken tikka and our youngest loved the chicken nuggets (we are working on him!) If only we had started eating here years ago!

Best curry I've had in years. We walked there from the hton Hotel (10 min walk) on new years eve and they managed to get us a table without a booking. I had lamb vindaloo which was a very spicy, absolutely fab. Nans and rotis...

Astonishingly good food, pleasant, friendly staff, appropriately dressed very smart. Reasonable prices (a bit dearer than Chinese but always is and is well worth it) The restaurant is well decorated and cosy, plenty of on street parking nearby. Overall bloody brilliant.

Food and service top quality and the staff are so helpful

Fantastic, my partner is not keen on indian take away as it can be too salty but this was delicious and now our take away of choice. We ordered veg curry with no veg, chicken madras, pilau rice, mushroom rice garlic naan and starters. It was all amazing looking forward to being able to have a meal in!

Very yummy food! Great place to have Indian food, if you live locally (or even if you choose to travel). Price is a little bit higher than usual takeaways but this place is also a restaurant. Food quality is also high therefore this also reflects in the price. Me and my partner thoroughly enjoyed it and will defiantly order again and once able to dine in the restaurant too :)

well, after covid lock down we ate at our favourite Asian restaurant tonight and as usual it was spot on, family atmosphere, great food, sensibly priced and dam good value, give this little oasis of great food a try folks .

1 Star Hygiene rating says it all . Visited a few months ago and first thing we noticed was the filthy floor , not been mopped in months . Food tasted ok but nothing special and then we both had upset tummy’s for a few days . Would never have find had we known this shocking rating has been given in November .

This place is absolutely disgusting poor food and utterly poor service. I know enough about curry to know what’s well below par , and it’s served in spades here . My recommendation is stay away !! And keep your money for an Asda special . Better flavour and value Hey , Gurkha Lounge gimme a call if you want to apologise and refund the good money I paid for it . Tried this restaurant out for the first time last Saturday. Always a bit wary when I haven't been before but was really pleased that we gave it a go. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. We visit here every couple of weeks and I can honestly say I’ve never had a bad meal here and neither have any of our family or friends. Always greeted with a smile and service is pleasant and professional. Food is always spot on and hot and tasty, I am a fan of the taste of Chicken Tikka Masala but love a hot curry .. so I request a Madras strength one and enjoy it every time. You’ll need to book on a Friday and Saturday as it’s pretty busy. It’s small with only about 10 tables, but well worth a visit !

Really nice food, staff & the wait wasn’t long for the food either. I give it 5 stars. The only thing negative I could say is that the women’s toilets are much nicer than the mens (my boyfriends words).

Another visit and another amazing meal . This place never fails to amaze . We were greeted by one of the owners as usual as soon as we walked in . Decided to have a change from my usual chicken tikka royal which is divine and tried chicken tikka Ghurka I was not disappointed. My husband usually has chicken tikka madras but decided to try a vindaloo which he said was beaut. The whole experience here is above and beyond service and food out of this world . We’ll be back soon with out a doubt !!

We have been struggling to find a good Asian takeaway for a long time. We searched and Ghurka Lounge came up so we gave it a go. And we will definitely be ordering again. My husbands lamb was cooked to perfection and my chicken was so soft and you could actually see that it was chicken. He flavours were gorgeous. Would highly recommend this to anyone.

Absolutely gorgeous food. One of the best Indian meals we’ve had. Enjoyed the fusion of Nepalese. The dumpling starters were amazing. Staff very friendly. All 3 of us enjoyed all our curries. The only negative comment I have is the red wine was too cold for my taste, but I warmed it on the radiator so not an issue.
