Gurkha Kitchen in Aberdeen City

Gurkha Kitchen has in the past been really good. The last twice we've had we've been surprised at the reduced quality of the food. We had a choila starter which used to be made with fresh herbs and spices and served on homemade naan. Last night's was served on a shop bought wholemeal pitta and covered in lettuce which had gone slimy in the heat. The chicken was not good quality and it had none of its usual vibrancy. The mains were watery and didn't have much flavour. At least one of them was a totally different recipe from what we've had before. All in all not a good experience.

We’ve recently moved to Aberdeen and ordered a takeaway from Gurkha kitchen last night and were most impressed. We ordered the set meal for 4 and enjoyed an excellently prepared meal with just the right amount of spice. The portions were generous including the sides, salads and dips.

Food was great and delivery took less time than expected

Delivery guy was surly, pakora starter was very small, main course was too hot to finish (Dhansak - my usual choice in all Indian restaurants).

Don't know why this restaurant is not a lot higher up! The food is delicious and full of flavour. A lot of time when eating spicy food, all you get is just a burning sensation. Not so with Gurkha Kitchen. We have tried many dishes from this takeaway and have never been disappointed. You can taste the different spices on your tongue, and it is wonderful. The best takeaway in Aberdeen for Asian spicy food by far in my opinion. TRY IT!!

Food arrived hot haggis pakora was super soft. The wife and I both agree that the nan is store bought. Chicken burger was just chicken in a bun no butter no salad. Nothing. I will be avoiding this place all together. Shocking

Sadly I'm going to have to echo the poor service comments others have made. Do not order via deliveroo from here, they don't make any sort of kebabs any more but still include it on their app. I got a call which was very hard to decipher where the guy said they don't make munchie boxes any more. Fair enough, I asked if they could cancel but they said to do it from the app. Couldn't cancel from the app as they had apparently started making it. I called them and they didn't know how to cancel it, all in all a huge faff. Had to end up waiting an hour and requesting a refund that way as the order never arrived (I don't know what they were making). Phone conversations with this place are very difficult, would not advise ordering from here it maybe better in person.

Ok - that's quite a claim. But then I have used most of the others over the last three years. The food here is great and the service is excellent. Nothing is too much trouble. You owe it to yourself to give it a try. I love the Momo's - and I've ordered from there about 20 times and never been disappointed.

Can not fault, speedy delivery, beautiful food, reasonable price. Just so everyone knows that's reading this, if a place is popular and is busy it will take how long it takes but its worth the wait if thats the case. I highly recommend

Had an Ubereats from here last night and it was really very good. So many takeaways are poor -but everything was very good. Rice, peshwari nan, tikka, saag aloo - all very well balanced. Thank you.

Taste, moderate price and friendly service.

Poor food quality. Order was not to taste.will not be ordering from here again as being a patron for years was taken for a ride.

Great food and good service always

The restaurant were really pleasant and helpful on the phone, when we phoned to advise the delivery was late. The food was piping hot on arrival although 20 minutes late, and was delicious as always. It was a busy Saturday night but Just Eat should have advised an extended delivery time.

Outstanding! Was visiting a friend and he suggested this place and I'm so glad he did! Mad I'll not be able to eat here weekly but glad I've an excuse to come back regularly.

Samosa Chat was missing chole & coriander on top of it. Chicken Everest curry was not tasty & hot

First time order from here ordered a chicken korma with rice etc. Cooked very well and tasted good except the korma sauce itself was rather tasteless quite runny aswell. . However over all good food.

Only comment is on the Tarka Daal, which seems to have fewer lentils in it than it used to a couple of years ago.

The lateness was due to traffic and roadworks Food was hot and so so tasty. Driver was lovely and very apologetic. I’ll order again 👍

We travelled from Suffolk, After driving for nearly 10 hours we arrived too late for food at hotel. Just picked a takeaway and couldn’t have been happier the food tasty very fresh, really enjoyed what we ordered it was lovely. Definitely recommend.

Went to wrong address but phoned and quickly sorted fppd was Luke warm due to this needed reheating but curries were delicious

Food arrived shortly before the scheduled time and was pipping hot and amazingly tasty. Will defo be ordering again in the future.

6/10 sauce was pour git Mayo not garlic a sweet chilli but chilli. Ok but nay great.

Excellent curry delivered on time piping hot. The lamb madras was spicy and hit with a real depth of flavour. Rice was fluffy and tasty. Would definitely recommend this takeaway.

Driver was very good, delivery before us hadn't given full address hence he was late. Not his fault, he is a regular delivery driver to us.

The vegetarian dishes - aloo chana and motor paneer was ordered and found them tasty

Ordered 4 varieties. Never experienced the diversities of food to be this bad. I wish there could be single dish which would have uplifted my mood 😬 total disappointment 😒

Really good curry, little bit more spicy than I’m used to but super tasty. Bhajis were only 3 could have been more but they were delicious.

Best takeaway in Aberdeen. Been using them since they opened. Food is always piping hot. Ingredients are fresh and you can taste everything in your meal. It's a pity its not a restaurant. Kathmandu hot curry is amazing too! Best haggis pakoras too!

If you love tasty spicy food, although can be made medium. This has got to be one of the best takeaways in Aberdeen. Never disappoints Choila is superb and lamb dishes are tender and full of spices. Well worth a try.💟

Orderd from here about an hour ago, not expecting it to be good. As most Indian takeout is not very good.OMG FABULOUS so so nice we got the set meal for 2, can not believe how good it was, i live quite a bit from george st, and it was still piping hot, orderd thru ubereats, delivery was bang on time i was given, I would definitely recommend anyone to try here, again fabulous

Curries were full of sugar and coconut and we're not as described. Very sweet. Order was taken promptly and delivery was very good, polite driver.

Food was cold and shouldn't have taken 45 mins to get from restaurant to my house was also no pakora

Arrived half an hour early so wern't quite ready for it! Food was superb as always.

I got the bundle for 2 great price and variety to choose from. Food arrived early, was very tasty and filling one of the best Indians I’ve had for takeaway. We were also given free aloo, popadoms and some house chutneys would definitely recommend and will be ordering from here from now on.

The chicken momo is absolutely delicious I would thoroughly recommend! The vegetable biryani is also absolutely amazing and even tho I only ordered those two items I still received a free popadom with a lovely dip. Will definitely be ordering again!

Food was beautiful, delivered on time, only problem ordered egg and pea rice but got mushroom rice instead ( husband hates mushrooms) but picked them out apart from that it was a delicious meal and will definitely order from them again.

Well worth the wait, prawn puri starter was divine and lamb madras was spicy and flavoursome.

Pokhara masala lovely with tender chicken and pilau rice. Wasn’t a fan of the mixed starter but free poppadom was a nice touch

This was the first time we’d used Gurkha Kitchen, but definitely won’t be the last. We had haggis pakora, Gurkha mango with chicken and chicken dhansak- every bit if it was delicious! As were the pilau rice and poppadoms. Give it a try, youll it be disappointed.

Used the place a few times now on a recommendation from a friend and it’s always been great.

Great food for great value price

Our food was lovely only complaint would be the delivery.... we had to phone as it was late and was told there was an accident and a new driver was sent out. I know you can’t help an accident but a courtesy call would have helped.

Lovely meals and arrived nice and hot, even if a little late. However, we appreciated the advanced warning that the meal would be late, so not a problem. Will definitely use them again. 😊

This was home delivery, only readon restaurant service shows as 3 stars instead of more. Food arrived 10 minutes early and was roasting hot. Loads of meat in the dishes and just loads of food full stop. All tasted great.

Was disappointed with the korma as it didn't taste like korma and tasted sweet. It tasted like the fruity chicken but without the fruit!

Ordered a Takeaway from Gurkha Kitchen for the first time. It was decent Nepalese /Indian food. The food was prepared very quickly and the owner/chef was very helpful.

Their Indian & Nepalese food is as authentic as it gets, reminds me of food back home everytime. Samosa chat from the menu is a must try! Can tell the chef in there is expert in South Asian cuisine and cooks with love :)

Had my first meal from this place, and it was very nice esp onion bahjis, and pakora. We had set meal for four, which fed 5 comfortably. Will deffo be back, only improvements would be a few more chicken bits in Tikka starter, but getting more sauces etc, than other places made up for that. Nothing was greasy and all well cooked. Eager to try other dishes.
