A really enjoyable meal. A very hospitable welcome and attentive service and two very different but great tasting meals. Recommended and we expect to be back when next in the area.

See the reviews thought i would try , when we turned up i was unsure if it would be any good , but can honestly say it’s the best indian i’ve had in the area , 99.9% indians in the area are all the same and miles off what a good indian should be . We started of with there take on kfc chicken , then had the lamb shank . Kids had butter chicken , the food was outstanding and better than anything i’ve had in the area . Even better than spice affair when it was at its best in spalding . super friendly and made us feel very welcome , will be returning soon to see if they deliver the same quality again , hidden gem !

We thought we would have a change from our Friday night take away and pop out for a curry. The food was very very good, faultless, it doesn’t get better than this. We hadn’t booked and they were quite busy but they managed to find us a table. Lots of different dishes on the menu along with the regular curry’s. Has to be the best of the 3 curry houses in Deeping. If you haven’t tried it you should you won’t be disappointed.

Fitted us in at short notice on a busy new years eve.Food was absolutely spot on and nothing is to much trouble.Give this place a try and you wont be disappointed

Excellent service & fabulous food. Don’t be out off by it’s location. The starter was a traditional street food of potatoes & chickpeas… I could eat it all day long, it’s got fabulous textures & tastes gorgeous. Fish curry next, lightly spiced, creamy & packed with flavour. The lamb chops we’re outstanding & absolutely packed with delicious spices.breads were delicious too. Brilliant staff & reasonable prices. We finished our doggy bag the next day and it was blooming devine.

A rare Tuesday night out visiting a friend so we decided to try the local Spice Merchant ..the restaurant interior is basic, but we were warmly greeted and made to feel very welcome. A good range of menu choices with some Nepalese influences , our order was promptly served and the food was really delicious , generous portion sizes and the homemade pickles served with the popadoms were simply lovely. I would definitely recommend a visit and will hopefully return again.

Any lover of great Indian food should try this restaurant, the staff are really helpful making sure you get the right meal for your taste and the menu is full of different wonderful choices. We are very lucky to have them here. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Long may it continue to thrive.

We have been here several times now and the food just gets better, we had the mixed platter starter which was lovely. Service was great as well. The best curry house in the Deepings and surrounding areas. Well done guys

We are a regular customer here, we have been so fortunate to also benefit from their delivery service. This has been just as tasty as being in the restaurant itself. It is always delivered with a smile and a friendly hello. Great for when we have been rushing around and just got in from work to be having this welcome treat dropped by. The food and service is so good, and their website is so easy to use and order from, they deserve all the stars, they have never failed to provide an amazing meal whether thats delivery or inside. (I think we have worked our way through those the menu and we always come back for more if you like spice but tastes try their chilli chicken starter, had it this time round for the first time, it was so good!) Delivery is quick and easy and always friendly (even from a distant)

I've always really enjoyed eating here, the food is great and the staff are so welcoming. The variety of food and authenticity is second to none. I became vegan a few months ago and was worried there may not be many options but the staff were very accommodating and there were lots of delicious options. A*, 10/10, Perfect!

The food is fresh and truly superb. The waiters are knowledgeable, helpful and genuinely friendly. Go out of your comfort zone and instead of going to your usual Indian restaurant, try the Spice Merchant. They deserve a much better location in the heart of Market Deeping.

Had an amazing evening food was fantastic lovely flavours was celebrating my husbands birthday the owner even brought out a little cheesecake with a candle which was a lovely touch. Would highly recommend.

Tucked away in a surprising location, but the food is excellent and worth the drive out of the centre of Deeping. You could tell the chef and staff really care about the food and the customers. Hot, tasty food and beautifully presented. We’ll be back!

Visited Spice Merchant for the first time tonight with my family and all of us were not disappointed, we all loved the food and will definitely be going back in the near future. Good portion sizes, not drowning in grease/oil and not smothered in cream...

Popped in last minute after seeing them on trip advisor, greeted by a very nice waiter that took us to our table and got us drinks straight away, then the food came quickly and was absolutely delicious, and so much food I had to take...

We ordered through just eat and it was late so wasn’t a good start then forgot my five year olds whole meal, we called to inform them they said it would be another 40 mins for chicken nuggets and chips so we said don’t bother...

This place is for us, having tried 3 of them since we moved here, undoubtedly the best curry house in Deeping. They have a good selection of veggie dishes, the curries have distinct tastes and everything feels like it’s had a bit of care taken...

First visit to any sort of restaurant since March and happy to report that this place is as good as ever. Aleppi Fish and the (not on the printed menu) black lentils were delicious and the service was friendly and efficient.

Having recently visited The Spice Merchant in Deeping St James, it is my pleasure to recommend this Indian restaurant to others.The food was excellent, tasty and clearly freshly prepared.The service was attentive but not overbearing and nothing was too much trouble to the staff.The Spice Merchant was busy with people eating in the restaurant as well as take away orders.The location is not the best in Deeping but the restaurant itself is well decorated and spotlessly clean.I recommend anyone to visit for a great Indian meal.

We’ve been searching around looking for a decent take-away curry for few weeks now and tried this place last night. We were pleasantly surprised, the food was prepared and ready in 30 mins and the the taste was clean and robust, deep flavours and generous portions. I ordered mine with extra chilies and it was spicy enough but I’ll ask for double chilies next time ;) We’ll definitely be going back.

Our local curry house. They have developed their menu really well since starting up. They will often do something different too if you request it. Always fresh tasty and spicy food. Excellent value and good portions. Have been there so many times now we lost count!

Traveller 40mins to eat at The Spice Merchant last night following a recommendation from a friend and it was well worth the trip. Friendly and helpful staff and the food was the best I have every experienced at an Indian restaurant. The tandoori king prawns for starters were absolutely delicious, so juicy and flavoursome. We tried a number of different dishes and each was very good. The naan bread was again the best I have ever tasted. Can’t wait to go back and try more.

After seeing such good reviews online, we went for a birthday sit down dinner at the Spice Merchant! We were thoroughly impressed. The staff were attentive, helpful and very friendly. And the food was absolutely delicious! They even helped to recommend a vegetarian dish for a new veggie which went down a treat. Will definitely be recommending to friends near and far.

Went here before Christmas as we couldn't get in at the Taj Mahal, and had seen this restaurant when we went to the Driftwood Bistro nearby. There wasn't a lot of atmosphere in the restaurant, could have maybe done with a little more continuity with the decor. We ordered the fish curry - not something I would normally have gone for but my partner fancied it. We also got a chicken dish that I can't remember. Both were very delicious, lots of flavour. The man who served us was very chatty and friendly, excellent experienced overall.Would definitely recommend and will be going back.

Amazing food and service at a great price. Been here multiple times in the past few months. Every dish I have had is great. Lots of choice, I recommend the chilli chicken for a starter if you like a spicy dish, it’s soooooo good.

Ordered by phone and told to collect in twenty min and arrive in 20 mins and after waiting some time I over heard phone conversation with previous customer phoned to say they had wrong oder {mine} and then I asked if there is problem and they said no and after another 10 mins still not got my oder so told staff member to deliver it to the address and he said no problem he would deliver to my address but another 15 mins get a phone call asking address again as they took to wrong address, got delivery in end food a bit cold but edible. I WON'T BE GOING THERE AGAIN.

Amazing Indian Restaurant. Extensive menu and very good service. Can seriously recommend the goat madras but everything I’ve had at this gem of a place is superb. Reasonably priced. Just love the place.

By far the tastiest food and such a variety of choices on the extensive menu. They have a few specials to try and also highlight popular dishes, so you are not completely blinded by the choice.

We visited here on a Sunday early evening me and my husband , well it was worth the drive hidden through the streets of Deeping , the food was amazing not all places can do a good dhansak but this was very enjoyable as was the whole meal , the gentleman serving was very pleasant and friendly in all this was a great meal and we will definitely be going back highly recommended

We have eaten here several times. It has always been good but seems to get better every time, with new dishes and fresh flavours. The place is really friendly and welcoming. From the beautiful chicken momu, to the ever moreish crispy okra to several tasty curries - goat, chicken, fish, lamb, etc. Even the dips taste fresh! I really want to try the Coconut Phirni dessert but am always too full from too many starters and mains. One day!

An excellent evening celebrating family birthdays. We shared poppadoms, had chicken korma, butter chicken, tikka masala and bhuna, with okra fingers and saag aloo on the side. It was all absolutely delicious, well cooked and perfect portion sizes. Excellent service, we’ll definitely be going back - very highly recommended!

This is an absolutely wonderful restaurant. Spotlessly clean, fantastic food and very friendly staff- the waitress last night was extremely polite and friendly, and we were asked by other members of staff if we were enjoying the food. A man at the next table said “the best curry I have ever had” and I can not disagree.

Delicious takeaway food, always delivered on time and great quality. The chicken Tikka Massala is devine, the best we have ever tasted. Meat is alway tender and juicy and the sauces are flavourful, I highly recommend !

Ordered food online for delivery. Arrived in good time. Food was still really hot and smelt amazing. Both myself and my friend were really pleased with our food, tasted really nice and portion sizes were spot on. They also chucked in some poppadoms and dips that we didn't order free of charge. Will be returning, for sure!

Since my last review in 2014 and the change in management i have continued to come on a weekly basis to the Spice Merchant. The service is good and helpful, the restaurant is clean and well kept. The food in consistently an excellent standard, one of my favourites is Chicken Sashlic which is not on the menu but the owner prepares it, which is alway good, the lamb sag is also very good. We have been with friend many times and the crispy okra is always well received! The draft beer is Cobra and has always been cold and fizzy (which can be rare at Indians). During the hot weather they have also been serving kulfi which is really tasty. Give the Spice Merchant a go!

Had a fantastic meal last night. Food was very authentic and service was great too. Much tastier than our usual restaurant at home.

I would recommend The Spice Merchant it was the first time we have had a take away meal from them.

Ordered a couple of dishes & wasn't overly impressed chicken tikka starter was dry & lamb tikka masala although lamb was lovely and tender but the sauce tasted and smelt like tomato soup was disappointing. Samosas and goat curry were lovely but Currys seems to have a lot of sauce but not much meat. I think I'll be sticking to the Taj in future.

We recently spent the weekend in Market Deeping and chose The Spice Merchant as it was the best rated Indian restaurant in the Deepings - we weren't disappointed! Delicious food, friendly service and great value. Poppadoms and super-tasty chutney tray, a rather excellent Chicken Kadhai with butter-soft chicken and a Chicken Xacuti with just the right balance of spice and coconut. If we didn't live 180 miles away, this would be our local and it goes without saying, if we're ever back in this neck of the woods, we'd definitely come again. Thanks to the staff for an absolutely superb meal.

The service is the friendliest and most accommodating I have come across. They make you feel so welcome and go above and beyond here. I'm a vegetarian and it was incredible finding so many options, the one I had and the starter were just beautiful. Can't recommend highly enough.

We always enjoy eating in at this restaurant but decided on a take away - equally as good. The food and service is always good. Lamb shank was lovely.

Absolute disgrace, 2 hours 30 minutes later it’s turned up! Been on phone to them 20 minutes then saying they are round the corner! Still on phone to them now!! Been on phone atleast 6 times! 6:30 we ordered and now it’s 9!!!!! Shocking! Not even hungry now and food gone to waste, oh guess what....it’s wrong order!!!!!!!!

The sat nave couldn't find the restaurant, even though we were in Manor way but we could see the back of a row of shops. We were given a warm welcome and as we arrived at 6pm Badri had time to chat with us and recommend some of the dishes. The menu was vey different and everything we had was so tasty. Some from Nepal, some from Kerala.

Really good service,food tastes amazing, lasun kukhura khursani is brilliant kulfi is great desert, the atmosphere is good and the crispy okra makes a pleased side dish,the new dish as special called Smoked sweet potatoes is another amazing dish you should try once,. Great Indian restaurant in deeping with different co concept. Keep it up guys.

i dont understand how there can be one bad review on this lovely restaurant.. it is by far the best tasting foood i have had in a very long time.

This is the third time I have eaten here and it just keeps getting better! The food is so tasty, full of interesting new flavours. The welcome is warm and friendly, and the service is second to none. I'm sure I will visit again soon and I really recommend The Spice Merchant.

I ordered from The Spice Merchant on Sunday night where I ordered a Goat Curry and a Chicken Tikka Masala. Although there was an issue with the goat curry, the manager at The Spice Merchant had replaced the curry which I am glad they did as it was a really good curry as I can see why it is one of the best sellers.

Tonight we had a take away from here, it was absolutely delicious. We tried some different dishes and they were superb.

This place never fails. Perfect food every time, excellent service, reasonably priced too. Can recommend the Tandoori King Prawns, and the crispy Okra as a side. Absolutely lovely !!

Having found our nearest Indian Take-away had closed down, it was time to try somewhere new. Rang Badri just after 19:30 with a substantial vegetarian order for 2 and food was ready for collection just before 20:00. At it was lovely. Particularly liked the Beetroot Delight's and the Mushroom Bhaji. Nice talking to Badri about his cuisine. Definitely be ordering again.

I wish I could have given 6 stars. By far the nicest Indian I have ever been to; perfect amount of spice in some delicious dishes. The Papdi Chat and Beetroot Delight starters were new dishes to me, and they were excellent. The waiter was extremely attentive and friendly, and offered advice on what to/how much to order. It was because of him that we tried the fried okra, which was outstanding. The mains were excellent, with the Tandoori Prawns and butter chicken our personal favourites. I can't wait for the next visit, and 20% off on Tuesdays and Wednesdays makes it even better.
