Gurkha 91 in South Kesteven

Celebrating my sister’s birthday with a few family members (27/03/24). The food was amazing and very tasty! The service was excellent and friendly. Our food and drinks arrived promptly. Couldn’t find fault with our evening. Will definitely return in the near future. Genny.

Food was really nice..from non-spicy (me) to high spicy (hubby). The onion bajas were the best I have ever tasted!! Staff were very friendly and helpful ..definitely will visit again!

A good alternative to a conventional indian restaurant. Dishes are very tasty and generous and staff attentive. Menu is a bit limited and never changes but we still go back. Good food well presented but as Ive been many times I would welcome a more extensive menu.

Lovely food and good service and great atmosphere

Food arrived cold, ordered a butter chicken and a jalfrezi and they both looked and tasted the exact same. Both sauces were runny like water with no taste at all, really disappointed as I’ve only just moved to Bourne and the first curry I’ve had and easily the worst will not be returning the best part about this meal was the onions for the poppadoms

Probably the best curry I've ever had. We went for the Nepali dishes that you don't get everywhere else and they were delicious. Great food great service great atmosphere.

Thank you to much to Gurka. I went with 2 girlfriends and we had such a wonderful evening. The chilli naan bread was gorgeous. The service was so good, really fun and accommodating staff. The week before I had booked a table but on the wrong day and they totally understood and were so nice about it. The best Rogan Josh I’ve ever had. We will be back!

I was offered a seat on a small table to eat on my own and was respectfully served. I enjoyed my tasty lamb and okra dish and read my book as well as the lovely buzzing atmosphere in the restaurant,

Picked up a takeaway for my Husband and he couldn’t get enough. He thought the food was delicious and he wont hesitate going back. The restaurant was busy and looked lovely so we most likely will be going very soon! Well done Team Gurka!!

We went to this restaurant having eaten Nepalese and Northern Indian food throughout the world. I have to say whilst they may have captured the tastes they haven't captured the authenticity the majority of the food was swamped in source. I enjoyed the momo but having eaten a Gurkha's regimental meal produced by Gurkhas this was way off the mark. Too much sauce and not much else. Sorry but I think I've eaten enought Nepalese food to know

Chicken tikka did not taste like it normally does in any other restaurant.The chicken was white and tasteless.chops were over cooked and tough and dry.Not a great experience.The bill was £133.25 and we wished we had gone somewhere else.Never again!!

We come here quite often and the service is always excellent and the food usually is too. I never get tired of their aubergine dish, it's just the best. They have a nice selection of dishes and the meat when we have it, is usually tender and tasty. We did try an alternative restaurant nearby recently for a change and whilst the menu was interesting and we enjoyed the food, we all had tummy aches the next day. Not a good sign! In the last 4 years visiting Ghurka 91, we have never experienced this, a testament to their quality of food, no doubt. Well done, we always enjoy our visits.

My husband and I visited here on our way home from a day trip...as seasoned travellers and foodies we were far from disappointed.....from the moment we walked in to the moment we left ....amazing.... Staff were hardworking, tentative and polite. For the first time ever ...A warm plate was placed in front of us......I cannot remember the last time this happened when we have been eating out....the food was delivered very promptly !!! Piping hot !! Spicing fantastic !! Fresh ingredients...well presented and good portion sizes ...what more could you ask for !!! The taste was out of this world !!!!!! The goat curry was the best I have ever tasted...so tender...better than what we ate in goa !!!! We have eaten in many places and paid triple the price for substandard food....we will definitely be back to this restaurant .... I should ignor any negative reviews on this restaurant....they will be from the people that like a microwave Korma from the supermarket...I cannot speak for takeaways...as I live in north Nottinghamshire they wouldn't deliver this far...Crikey ....if only they did..... well done to all involved in this restaurant....the most authentic meal ive had....xx

Everything was just awful. As someone who has an Indian takeaway almost every week, I thought I'd give Ghurka a go but I sincerely wish i hadn't. All 3 curries were just horrible, either too watery, too thick, too bland or just tasting nasty. Not a single one was enjoyable. The poppadoms were greasy, the the filling of the peshawari naan was way too sweet and way too much of it. The only redeeming dish was the tandoori chicken, but does one okay dish make up for a table full of tupperware that ended up in the bin? Avoid like the plague, this is hands down the worst Indian takeaway in Bourne.

We used to visit Gurka 91 pre covid, and highly rated it. We decided that we would have a takeaway which we have had in the past and throughly enjoyed. Unfortunately this was not the case on this occasion. We three different curries, the meat was nice , lamb and chicken but there was not much of it. They were all in highly coloured sauce, it was a case of spot the meat the sauces taste seemed artificial. I am sorry but we will not be re ordering, I am sorry to say we feel the quality has slipped. I have had much better India ready meals from Marks and Spencer’s.

Outstanding from start to finish. The service is faultless. The chefs cooking is in a league of its own . The quality of the finest ingredients and style of cooking is first class. Decided to book for Christmas Eve and were asked to arrive early as there were two sittings. This suited us as we didn't want to be that late. Useful parking at the rear, and inside a delightful waitress who took us to a spotless table. There was a convivial atmosphere with plenty of patrons and busy but not rushed, staff. Pleasant chilled blush wine was brought promptly and then poppadoms and pickles. Main courses were really tasty with hot plates and were more than enough to satisfy our hunger. All for very reasonable prices!

Probably to be expected as it’s the time of year but when the restaurant filled up it did become somewhat noisy, however by this time we had eaten most of our meal which was very good, not sure if the costs are the new norm given the current situation but service was attentive even when it was very busy.

We always have food to takeaway - fresh and tasty and delivered with a smile. They have an extensive menu and everything is first class - I can particularly recommend the Nepal Chicken and peshwari naan - 10/10! Thoroughly recommended!

Can’t fault it. Absolutely delicious meal. The lamb in my bhuna just melted in the mouth. The staff were attentive and friendly and the price was reasonable. Highly recommend and looking forward to visiting again.

Amazing food and the staff were friendly. Ignore the negatives with this place, what great little place. Mono starter was great, tandoori mixed grill was good but the coconut rice was something else. Excellent food and very reasonably priced.

We had to push our way through a cloud of smokers outside to get in, and the same lads (with one lady) were a bit loud, probably slightly drunk (what other reason for shouting most of the time?). However, live and let live, and the...

Poor food. No options for vegan - in fact didn't even know what vegan is. Service no existent. Restaurant was cold as well.

The food was good however we were rushed by staff throughout the whole meal which made it difficult to relax when we were being interrupted throughout the whole meal. It has put us off going to eat in we will stick with take away from now on.

Unbelievable attitude when greeted into restaurant, absolutely scorned at the fact I was a single dinner , then more dissatisfaction from the waiter when asked for tap water the most unfriendly restaurant I’ve ever entered !!

Went for my husbands birthday with a group of friends. All the food was absolutely wonderful, so tasty and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. A little more money than your average Indian but the quality was top notch.

This was our first restaurant meal since outlets reopening during the Covid 19 pandemic.There was a pleasant relaxed atmosphere with the restaurant obviously fully up to speed with the necessary precautions. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly and charming.We recommend Gurka 91...

Every meal I’ve had from Gurkha 91 has been outstanding.

First visit tonight as an early birthday meal with the wife. Was quite warm in the restaurant as it was rammed with customers, the AC wasn't put on and as a result we were quite uncomfortable, still the food itself was nice and flavourful, it was not however to our taste, the masala sauce was watery with only a dribble of cream across the top. The service was a little delayed and we waited a good 30 minutes before out starter arrived, the young tall lad was attentive to start with. It such a shame as the previous reviews were good.

Had a meal few weeks ago was best ever had one tonight with my daughter not good sauce on both chicken tikka and prawn korma tasted as though it had been waterd down no taste at all delivery very fast though

I enjoyed my meal at Gurkha 91 when I visited yesterday. We took a party of 9 and we were catered for promptly with both food and drinks. The food was all served hot despite our large number and there was an excellent range of dishes to include several I had not heard of previously. Most dishes come with a choice of different meats or vegetables and there is a reasonable range of the standard sides you would expect from this kind of restaurant. I would definitely visit again in the future.

We booked again as the restaurant is the best in Bourne! Food was up to usual high standard served by friendly staff- even the bosses work there! We requested extra chillies which gave the "House Special Karahi" an extra punch- great choice! We also had an LKK and would recommend that dish also- has 2 chillies rating as well.The family group own restaurants at Stamford and Spalding and the menu is just the same- very wide choice and excellent quality.

We often pass by here and wonder what the fuss is about as weve been before....so we chanced it again tonight, hoping for improvement.....oh dear

We went here whilst visiting our friends. The service was excellent, food was Devine and the staff extremely friendly. The peshwari naan is the best I’ve ever had! All four of us had wonderful food, all different but equally tasty.

I have been to and reported on the Gurkha 91 in Bourne. 8 of us visited on Xmas Eve. It was going to be 11 of us but my daughter was ill.Two of our party are regulars, two of our party including myself are occasional visitors and the other 4 were visitors to Bourne, 2 from Spain and 2 from London. They have been very occasionally before. I can honestly report that the Gurkha met or even exceeded its usual very high standards. The food was first class. The starters were varied (salmon, chicken livers, mushrooms, belly pork) and everyone was well recived, For the mains the Salmon dish was highly coomended by my wife, and a guest, the fish acari, lamb LKK, a prawn curry, and the goat were uniformly considered to be excellent. Although very busy the service was very good. I feel almost apologetic that I cannot create a valid criticism ( as I have very occasionally in the past ] but not one of the party felt disappointed in any way. The Gurkha's standards remain very high indeed

Pre Christmas Nepalese meal again, it's becoming an annual event just before Christmas that we must go to The Gurkha 91 for dinner.Geerey, Chrishna & the guys never fail to give us a fantastic evening & spoil us with the standard of service, food & their personalities. We are never disappointed & this restaurant is certainly one of our favorites that we enjoy during the rest of the year. We know we will be very well looked after hence our pre-christmas dinner.Thanks very much guys, hope you had a good, busy christmas & we wish you a Happy Healthy New Year, see you soon in 2020.

Visited Gurka 91 last night and it was awesome. Food was the best ever. Service was amazing, best Nepalese restaurant ever. Could not fault it in any way. Highly recommend it, will not be eating this type of food anywhere else in or near Bourne.

We visited Gurkha 91 last week and had an excellent meal. The service was superb - the staff were very attentive and the food was delicious. We will definitely be returning and would recommend Gurkha 91.

I love this restaurant so visit regularly. The food is much fresher and healthier tasting than other local Indian and Nepalese restaurant. The food is much less oily and salty, with more use of fresh tasting vegetables and herbs. Interesting menu too. Has the standard fare of Indian restaurants but also lots of more unusual Nepalese dishes. Good at catering for vegans. Friendly staff.

Popped in to Gurkha for a change , would not go back as food is not very authentic. Tastes like supermarket curry sauce with stuff added . Glass of house red ( small ) outrageous at £6.50 , cheaper in London! Don’t know why this place can be busy at times as the food is so poor . Other indian’s in Bourne miles better .

I went here with a mate after we were really disappointed by another restaurant in Bourne. And I have to say, Gurkha 91 was great. The starters were fab and the naan bread with the mains was one of the best I've ever had. I'll be back.

Staff very polite. Food delicious. It was a busy Saturday night. We all had a lovely time there and would definitely recommend this restaurant.

My wife & I have been using the Gurkha 91 since it opened & have never had reason to complain, infact as my title states it JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER.

After working all weekend and not eating, I needed a tasty treat. Bourne was the closest town to where I am staying so I found parking and was going to wonder round. The wandering didn’t take too long as I was parked outside this place.

Great Mo mo dumplings and a wonderful lamb Himali where the lamb falls apart so easily.

Vast menu with a great selection. Great place for families or couples. Advisable to book as it gets very busy.

Fantastic quality of Indian food. Great and huge starters. Prawn Puri was amazing. Great selection of mains well cooked meat and great side dishes. Cheese Naan was awesome. Would highly recommend and will definitely go back.

3 years ago we had a first meal here and I was genuinely speechless with the food! The quality was second to none with real authentic flavours. We do a lot of travelling around the uk and set a task to find a Nepalese restaurant that can compete with the Gurkha 91. We've eaten the same meal, about 4 times a months for the last 3 years so we know are dish well. So far to date not one restaurant has come close! The bar has truly been set high and we very much doubt we'll succeed in finding a worth opponent. My hat is off to these lovely people for their truly amazing food and warm hospitality!!! **Our meal is: veg madras (vindaloo hot), sagaloo, veg samosas, garlic naan, pilau rice, chutney tray

WOW! we have just moved into the area and I ordered a takeaway from here on our first night of being in.

Came in here a couple of weeks ago with my family visiting from Scotland. We were all very happy and food was brilliant. Attentive and friendly staff.

Went with the family for Fathers Day, excellent food served hot, and with a nice smile from the staff. Great variety of Nepalese food, great service , great value for money, one not to be missed.
