Our first visit to this establishment and wow it was definitely worth the visit. Even though they had 3 large parties in the staff were brilliant and attentive. The food was absolutely amazing it was delicious, flavoursome and way above what was expected. This place is a must visit

I never give 5* but honestly the food here would be getting 4.9* everyday, staff friendly all in all a very pleasant experience, frequent flyer when ever I'm staying in the area with work.

I was recommended this go to absolute diamond. The food is superb, full of flavour, freshly cooked and had you wanting to try all their menu! They are also a family run business extremely helpful and spot on delivery. This is my second time back. Can’t wait to try more of the menu next time.

This place is perfect for eating

I have Ordered food from this restaurant and also dined in. Gurka 1816 delivers authentic flavors in a modest setting. While the strong masala taste in the curries might not suit everyone, the naan breads are a highlight, fluffy and crispy perfection. Service is consistently good, making it a reliable choice for a satisfying meal.

Nice relaxing Ambience and the food is amazing. Dined with my wife and our 2 children. We all said how much we enjoyed it. I'm vegetarian and my ?Wife a vegan, there were plenty of options on the menu and the staff are friendly and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone. ( The Gurkha beer is a lovely drop too.)

1 hour 55 minutes wait for a takeaway and still had to go out into the rain to collect it from the driver because he can't read an address.

This was my second visit to the restaurant. It was great. The food and the service was all fab. The presentation of the food on our plates, along with how it tasted was excellent. We asked for the spice to be mild, and they were happy to do that - they were very accommodating in every way. Our servers were very friendly, the chef came out to speak with us afterwards and we were very happy overall. The wait between ordering and our food arriving was fine, as the was time between starters and mains. It wasn't very busy on the evening that we visited so it wasn't very noisy - I like that! Would happily go again and recommend.

Went for Mother's day. Was very disappointed to be given a makeshift table at the back near some stairs ..really silly location when the whole restaurant was practically empty.Complained and was moved to another table after being told that all tables were booked.We were there for 3 hours and all the 4 seater tables on one side of us were empty the entire time! We waited for an hour and half for our food! We ordered no starters just mains. We were advised the chef was making food for one table at a time meaning starters and then mains! We were flabbergasted and very hungry by the time the food arrived. The food itself was very nice and I have no complaints.But I would never go there again and neither would I recommend it to anyone which is a real pity because the food is actually really good. My mum in law was given a celebratory limencello shot being mother's day but she doesn't drink alcohol so I had it for her since they wouldn't give her an alternate choice. Absolutely loved the chicken momos and accompanying sauce!

We loved authentic chicken momos, scumptous Chicken tikka and napelese Lamb here and the service as always was spot on.

The waiting staff was exceptionally welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu, providing excellent recommendations tailored to our diverse preferences. The dining experience was truly remarkable and highly recommended.

We attend this restaurant weekly and have been coming for years, really enjoy coming here. Staff are always polite, and attentive. It’s a family run restaurant and it shows. The chefs take pride in their quality of food served. Ingredients used are of a high quality. Highly recommended any local to visit here and support our local businesses. Good selection of drinks available and meal choices, various vegetarian options available Just been and had a lovley meal here, staff are fantastic. Advised us wait would be long due to party however food came quick and was delicious. Family atmosphere and welcoming. Will be coming back again.

We were a party of 4 and we had a wonderful experience here. I have a wheat and dairy intolerance and a shellfish allergy and they were so accomodating and made their meals from scratch for me. I would recommend this place for every occasion. Friendly helpful staff and a lovely atmosphere.

Starter tasted fantastic, but the dumplings were not to my taste. Curries gave a ‘comfort food’ like feel by having mild flavour but a unique taste. Naan bread became the star of the dishes as it gave a wonderful taste (Variety of naan bread as well) Staff extremely amiable and helpful.

I recently dined at this Nepalese restaurant and had an outstanding experience! The Veg Ball Manchurian starter was a delightful burst of flavors, perfectly complemented by the aromatic Chicken Tikka Kadhai main. The ambiance, service, and authentic Nepalese cuisine make it a definite 5-star dining destination. Highly recommend!

Booked a reservation online,when got there they said they haven't got us booked in,had found us a table that no-one had booked,starter lovely 4 bottles of wine down no main course 2 5 hours later,asked about food said would be 20 mind more,we paid for what we had gad and left,food is great service & staff not good at all,more interested in taking hotshots of full restaurant fir social media than looking after people who are already there,you have lost 4 big spending customers who won t be returning.

Great food and service. Had chicken momos, chill chicken, chicken fried rice, tandoori roti and chicken methi. Every item perfectly cooked, a perfect balance of spices. Definitely, will be in our list of go to places.

Went there a few days ago only 7 diners in but it still took nearly 2 hours to get the main course!! Don't think we will go again

Great food, huge portions. Waitresses were great, but food pre ordered a week in advance one of our party korma came, then was 15 minutes before rice, and another 5 mins for her nan bread, my main came 20 minutes after first main and was told it was not on the menu so they had replaced with similar dish without asking, and my rice came 5mins later and nan 5mins after that. (Party size was 18) Apart from the disjointed service, everything else was excellent. I will return and adjust the rating if the service is better.

Visited as a belated Christmas meal, spacious bright and clean place , with a good bar. Staff were first class , gave us plenty of time to look through the menu. Drinks came quickly followed by large starters presented beautifully. All eight of us said they were fantastic. The main meals were served with rice, chips and nan breads again well presented. My curry was probably the best I have ever tasted, and all the rest of the party raved about theirs. A little bit more money than usual, but well worth it. Will definitely be going again.

I have given each category of food, service and atmosphere five stars as the waiters were very helpful and friendly and the chef clearly takes pride in his food. The only reason for a four star overall rating was the long wait for service. But it is very well worth it. The quality of the food was excellent in taste and presentation, without doubt some of the best Indian/Nepalese food I’ve ever eaten, delicately spiced, beautifully cooked and with quite a few alternatives to the standard generic menu. For instance there were types of rice I’d never seen before, which were absolutely delicious. I had a paneer starter and goan fish curry, both absolutely stunning and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

I have to change my review of this place, there are off days, and then just very poor service and drop in quality which shouldn't happen. I waited over an hour and a half for food to arrive after asking multiple times, when the food finally arrived it felt rushed as if my order had just been put together when I'd had enough of waiting, my order was wrong and was far below normal standards. A very disappointing experience on a special family occasion, not sure what went wrong today but it's difficult to recommend a place to others when there are such huge drops in quality.

What an absolutely fantastic place. The food and service are both always first class. I have been on a number of occasions and never been disappointed. They have a varied menu to suit all tastes - I can highly recommend a visit.

A colleague an I ate at Gurkha1816 while working in the area and it is a true gem. The food was wonderful, including a very tasty complimentary samosa, and the service attentive but not overbearing. Particular shout out to the hostess who made sure we had a great evening. Highly recommended
