We visited this Indian restaurant located on the Cressington side of Aigburth Rd on a Saturday night, it is situated in an area were a few other restaurants are based. The restaurant has been re-located upstairs to make way for a Turkish restaurant downstairs. Re-furbished to a high standard with freshly plastered walls, steel, glass and leather is the theme. Housekeeping was performed to a very high standard.

My husband recommended we go to this restaurant as it was one he frequently went to whilst living in Liverpool. As we walked through the door we were greeted and seated. The waiter was absolutely brilliant unfortunately I didn't get his name but I think he was eastern European descent, and the food was Amazing. The portions was sizeable, the flavours great, we didn't wait too long and the food was hot when it arrived at our table which was great. I have been to many Indian restaurants in London and the quality and service from the Gulshan is definitely on par with the top restaurants. Also the value for money was great. keep up the good work !!!

This was ... WAS... one of my favourite Indian restaurants. I had not been there for a few years. I wish I stayed away and never went back! This was a terrible experience; the environment was awful as there was building work downstairs. The server was horrific as he did not understand basic English but the food was much worse than everything else.Virtually inedible in a fluorescent looking red sauce (Madras). To cut a long story short, I don't even want to drive by as my stomach churns every time I do.

Following recent problems and a change of ownership, Gulshan is finding its feet again. The downstairs is presently being refurbished, but the upper floor is open again and very comfortably furnished. The food is traditional Indian. My Korma was tasty and the pilau rice that came with it was light and fluffy. Coffee afterwards was OK. Very friendly staff. Parking on the main road remains a problem, but you can usually find a space in one of the side streets.

We ordered a delivered meal for three. It came bang on time. I have been going to this restaurant for many many years, and understand folk travel to it from some distance, such is its reputation. This was the first time I have had take out or delivery. The food was (ridiculously) plentiful, and well spiced such that one felt that this had been cooked properly rather than just having some chili heat lobbed into it, as you can often find in Indian restaurants. The major disappointment was that the tandoori and tikka chicken dishes were very dry - not sure if this was a problem with their being transported for ten minutes, or just the way they were prepared. Buttered prawns to start were probably the high point. Suspect next time I would go an collect or eat there rather than have delivered as it would minimise time between prep and eating.

Had a great meal as usual even after the recent change in ownership. The staff have been retained and as always you can have friendly banter with the waiters whilst getting good service and food. If you are a regular they are more like family friends, and if popping in for a meal or take away they do make you feel welcome. The Indian style lager is still on tap and touches the spot with a decent curry. The place was fairly empty so quick and efficient service but without being rushed. We could see the take away business was busy though. The prices for a quality restaurant are very reasonable and I would recommend a sit down meal to anyone with an interest in keeping a South Liverpool institution afloat.

We all went to this restaurant last week for my brother's birthday as we had been lots of times in the past as it was really good. Since then, unbeknown to us it had changed hands. The food was nowhere near as good as it had been before. My mother even said she prefered the M&S jalfrezi. The tables were bare wood and it was not very welcoming. The staff were slow and whilst three of the party had their drinks my mother was left without as hers had been left on the bar. This even though the place only had three other tables with diners. We will not be going again.

The greeting was friendly and when I said I wanted to sit alongside my partner the waiter suggested an alternative more suitable table which was kind and made us feel welcome. Drinks were served quickly and the service was good throughout. The popadums and chutneys were nice and starters were very tasty. Save for the lamb tikka which was a bit chewy. Unfortunately the main courses were both a little lacking in flavour. Something that is disappointing for any type of cuisine but somehow less forgivable with food that involves fragrant spicing at its best. The bindhi was perfectly tasty and the naan and chapati were nice too. My main of chicken rezalla was hot but without much discernible flavour. My partner had rogan josh which to me tasted of very little.Overall a bit of a letdown after a promising start.

Absolutely Dire (but it didn't used to be) I've been here before 18 months, and two years ago. This visit was for NYE, table booked for 7pm, 15 seats, all family, various ages. To cut a long story as short as I can we waited far far too long for every course, and drinks, we had to ask several times for things that we ordered that did not come. The food when it turned up was warm at best, and it was not of the standard that I recalled; or indeed expect from a quality Indian restaurant. The staff did not explain to us why we were waiting for so long, not did they offer something for free to 'tide' us over till it arrived, ie poppadum's, etc.The staff were just about polite to us, but there was an old couple on the table next to us that said something to a female staff member who replied to them sharply with the words "you should have gone to macdonald's then".Furthermore, the staff were wearing a right mix of dress, leading to confusion as to who actually worked there and waited on, and those dining. At the end of the night we made our feelings known. To which we were told that they had just taken over. That as far I was concerned was not an excuse for the terrible service and awful food. If they thought they couldn't manage to provide the correct level of service, then they should not have taken so many bookings at such a busy period until they had found their feet. We spent four hours in there, and only had two courses (and bear in mind that we didn't actually get all we ordered, in fact one main course was missing completely).I will not be going there ever Ever EVER again.

Been visiting the Gulshan for about 10 years. However, after tonight's visit I'm afraid we won't go again which is a shame as it's a local restaurant.Booked a table for 8:30 and it was a disaster from start to finish. It took 30 mins to take our order, 45 mins for drinks to arrive and 90 mins for our food. When the food did arrive it wasn't hot and extra drink orders weren't ever delivered. When we raised a complaint we were told that lots of other customers hadn't been served either as though that made it better! The only positive was a lovely waitress Courtney who did her best amongst the shambles. A family on the table next to us waited 2 hrs for their starter so I guess it could be worse!Never again.

Visited the Gulshan last night (New Years Eve) with my boyfriend. We had pre booked a table for 8.30pm and upon arriving it was quite clear that the place was overbooked. The waiter muttered something to us which I just about heard as 'wait upstairs'. We went upstairs where we waited around 10 minutes to get served at the bar. There was only 1 girl working the bar, New Year's Eve, clearly knowing you're busy why would you not put another person up there? Anyway, upon being served we were informed that the girl was 'waiting on vodka' so I changed my drink. It was £10 exactly for a glass of Blossom Hill rose wine and a pint of Cobra, seems quite expensive to me but we paid anyway and sat down. It was now gone quarter to 9 and still no sign of our table (which was booked for 8.30) so my boyfriend went down to the waiter as did another lad who was waiting on his table. The waiter then advised both our table and the other lads table was ready. Fab, but when were you planning on telling us? Sits down at a table that was so close to the others that every time the girl behind me moved her chair whacked mine, not her fault, the tables were just clearly too close together. Waited until 5 past 9 and still no sign of a waiter to even take a drinks order. At about 10 past 9 (now 40 minutes after our booking) food was bought over to a table near us at which point the people sat there began clapping. Hardly a promising sign. So 45 minutes after our booking, we got up and walked out. On the way out we informed the waiter that we were going to leave it and go elsewhere. No apology, just some inaudible grunt. I appreciate it was New Year's Eve and they were bound to be busy but this was just ridiculous. I'd have much rather the lady I booked my table with had just advised that there were no tables available when I called the day before. Luckily we don't live too far and only walked to the restaurant. Had I have had to get a taxi, bus, train etc to get there I'd have been absolutely fuming. Anyway, we left and went a couple of doors down to the Madhari, another Indian resultant. We intended to just get a take away but my boyfriend asked if it was possible to eat in. The waiter advised that they were quite busy but got us a table ready anyway. The staff and food at the Madhari were fabulous. The Gulshan might want to take a visit and get some tips, won't be returning there.

Absolutely disgraceful, visited with my pregnant partner and my parents - ordered 3 Meat Thalis, waited 1.5 hours (thought they were cooking up a right treat so we forgave the wait) only to be served raw chicken breast. Not just my dish but all 3, raw. RAW chicken painted with a bit of tandoori paste to look like a meal. They had clearly forgotten the order and then tried to rush it through. Very irresponsible from a kitchen that are clearly incompetent and a lack of honesty from the floor staff. Shocking behavior considering the manager had actually acknowledged my partners pregnancy earlier in the evening.1 star review and food hygiene rating is completely warranted and I most definitely will not be stepping foot in the Gulshan Liverpool again.

Their onion bhaji starters are delicious and the perfect start to any meal. The main dishes are a good size too and if you've got the room the naan breads always hit the spot.

A great Indian restaurant in South Liverpool. Lovely Indian food with some modern twists. Excellent specialties, including some fish options, as well as the traditional Indian choices. The food is always tasty and fresh. The waiting staff are very friendly and cheerful. Handy for the airport or cricket ground.

Another fantastic meal for a very reasonable price. Staff are very helpful, and the surroundings are well kept. The food is amazing. I find the menu is more of a guide as the staff will cook anything for you. Whether you like it hot or not, anything goes. If you have not tried here before, I would recommend it.

Relatively short drive from the overnight hotels at Liverpool airport. Decor average, mostly old wooden tables & chairs with rusty topped radiators! Plates and cutlery must be from day one of opening and very worn. Staff friendly and service good albeit a fairly quiet Tuesday evening. Drinks good, nice pint of 'Cobra'! Had the Chicken Tikka and Chicken Chat starter, I appreciate most Indian restaurants pre prepare or buy in the meat in marinated form but this did taste like warmed up three day old food. The uninviting Tikka was served on a warm piece of slate ? Come on guys, get it out on a sizzling hot plate that steams the aroma as it comes out the kitchen...I bet you would see more people ordering it ! The mains were not much better, the missus went for a Pasanda warmed up to medium but it looked and tasted like a chicken Korma! (I know it goes against the grain to warm up a Pasanda but it does work if done properly). The Balti was ok. Peshwari narm bread was sickly and far too sweet, stick to plain or Garlic. There was plenty of meat in the dishes but again tasted like warmed up and tough due to obviously being days old or pre frozen? There were no heat, aromas or any of the 'cooking smells' that what you would normally expect coming out the kitchen whatsoever so no wonder the food was so bland and generally warmed up. Anyone who eats here regularly and thinks it is good needs to broaden their horizons because at around £50 for 2 it ain't exactly cheap either. To the owner, concentrate on the quality of the food and it being freshly cooked as it will always bring the customers back. Unfortunately I won't be returning!

Meal for two, relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The food is delicious, as are the cocktails. Service is good, polite and often humorous. We've also had takeaway from here, which is also excellent. The lamb is particularly good for an Indian Restaurant.

Not been since I was a student so thought that I would give it a go rather than going into town. Saturday evening. Fairly full. Service was OK. Staff friendly enough. The food was just average. The portions were a good size. My chilli chicken was sweet and red, not what I expected, however this would not have been a problem if there was flavour to it, it was just a sweet, hot dish. The vegetable dishes were of a good quality.

There is a good atmosphere and the food is of a very high standard. We had the Meat Thalis - but you don't need one each as the portions are large!

I and two workmates visited on 31/08/16 at the recommendation of a local colleague with whom we were working . We were not disappointed , the food was nicely prepared and served by friendly well dressed staff . The decor is pleasing and spotlessly clean , as is the washroom / toilet facilities . I would be happy to recommend this fine establishment to anyone who likes Asian cuisine of high quality .

I was there a couple of days ago with some friends and we spent a pleasant evening. The staff is gentle and I think this is a quite place, the best if you would like to talk and eat without noise. The food was very tasty, I liked so much 'tandori chicken' and the sauces they prepare. At the and the hot and scented clothes to clean the hands.

This is a resteraunt that I have visited a number of times over the years and the food remains at a very good standard, without ever excelling. The service is good and the staff are welcoming, but I find the atmosphere a little bit sterile - almost lights on at closing time in the pub!

If only they had Indian restaurants like this in North London! Every time we visit the Gulshan, the food is exceptional - and good value. Portions are very generous and the service is always great. Very welcoming to families with young kids as well. Fabulous!

Tiffin Fine Indian Dining & Tapaslocation-icon784Indian

Visited Tiffin with my husband for a meal, was a Thursday night around 7.30pm, it was dead in there we were the only 2, my husband made a comment about the marie celeste,Waiter was pleasant enough, we were told there was no alcohol as they weren’t licensed, Fair enough( there goes my glass of wine) ended up with Luke warm tap water,As soon as the food order went in the microwave started pinging, i kid you not, This was a total red flag i knew the food would be either frozen or warmed up either way not a good start, The food appeared husband ordered a madras which he said wasn’t that hot, my prawn bhuna resembled turkey Twizzlers, very chewy, the rice was all clumped together in lumps,The decor was as bad, very dated. I would not recommend to my friends.
