Food arrived cold and on ringing them they didn't want to know just said contact just eat. Will never use them again it was expensive for a curry and we thought it would be a treat how wrong we were . So disappointed

Coming from a food critic... My First time here tonight, after my partner had raved on about it for months, and we will most definitely be using Gulshan everytime I'm treating myself out to an Indian, the 30 minute drive was worth it... Everything about this place was Absolutely Amazing 👏 ... •On Entry... greeted by the Owner and Staff and taken to our table... we was offered to take a photograph of us all, in this great place they have set up for photos. • The Service.... it was great to see the Owner Working in the Restaurant, Speaking to and Serving Customers, giving you a lovely warm Welcome... I Love this in a Restaurant, it really makes your Experience so much more... other staff all on the ball and service with a Smile which was lovely to see (sadly very rare these days you get this) • The Food.... WOW, we was welcomed with this new starter dish, "Nochadoms" broken Poppadoms with this amazing Chilli Jam, onions and some fried things on top, so Yummy!! Definitely a dish to start with 💯 Then Myself and my Partner both ordered the "Lamb Staff Curry," Me Loving Naga asked for mine Naga Hot and my Partner Madras Hot. Non of this was even questioned, they was more than happy to amend the dishes to our tasting... This was Lush, every bite 🫦 was so good, the Lamb melted off the bone, cooked to perfection 👌 the girls ordered "Chicken Madras" and "Chicken Rogan Josh" the Chappatis were noce and soft, bith rice dishes were lovely and the Garlic Naan was Divine, all absolutely loved our meals 😋 • Drinks... I've had some Strawberry Daiquiri's in my time but never really enjoyed them. Gulshans Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri 🍓 is the best I've ever had and I actually enjoyed every bit of it... my partner got a Pint of Cobra, good cold bubbly Pint, he's and some terrible pints in some places we have visited but these we're spot on 👌 We spoke to the Manager on numerous Occasions throughout the evening, the Manager himself came out singing Happy Birthday to my partners daughter with a Lovely Chocolate Cheese Cake and a lit fountain which was Simply Delicious 😋... Overall what a great Evening, Great Atmosphere, Great Service were the Staff go out of there way to make you feel Welcome ands Happy 🙏 Amazing Food and good prices.... This is a must Indian Restaurant to Visit, doesn't matter how far your coming from you will not be disappointed with Gulshan Tynemouth and the travel will be worth it. A family of 4 all the food we had including alcoholic drinks and pop and came to £129 no service charge, which is great as you get to pick your tips and the staff actually get it , which is always great to know...

Ordered a meal for 3 ,and it was spoilt as 2 of our party were vegetarian ,the rice dishes both orded as a veg option were served with meat ,My wife being a vegetarian for over forty years and I didn't notice the rice with meat.The server although was apologetic ,the manager was not ,and although he took the price of the rice and one dish from the bill ,the night was spoilt .Will not be eating there again ,the food we received was average .

Appalling! Accidentally served my mum a meat based dish breaking 40 years of vegetariansim , total lack of understanding from the manager and the wait staff , total joke . Don't go here

Service not as good as it used to be food standard has dropped alcohol prices have gone up to much, sorry to say we wont be back. I have spent a lot of money in this restaurant over the years but my last visit was my last. £17 for 2 gin and tonics is out of order.

Yikes. When we walked in, we were greeted with a wall of dirty cups and dishes stacked across the bar. While they didn’t appear to be overly busy, the staff seemed stretched thin and all aspects of our service was slow. While we enjoyed the nachodoms, the king prawns were over cooked and rubbery, the chicken korma tasted as if a cup of white sugar had been stirred in, and the was poor (i.e. Pepsi products, but no actual Pepsi). Bonus points for being dog friendly and allergen aware, but overall I would not recommend dining here.

Absolutely amazing, as always. The food, staff, atmosphere 10/10, couldn't recommend more, whether you're dining in or getting take-out.

Unfortunately a poor experience. We booked the table a few weeks in advance for a Saturday night at 7.45pm. A celebration meal for myself and my husband. We were not seated in the main restaurant but in a side room with only 3 tables. We ordered poppadum, starters and mains and within 5 minutes we received the poppadums and pickles and that was the end of our food experience. We sat and waited for about 20 minutes enjoying our drinks, and then sat for a further 30 minutes with empty glasses. I had to get the attention of a waiter who said he would ask in the kitchen and we were then asked if we wanted to order more drinks. After waiting over an hour since getting the popadums our main courses came out..... completely missing the starters. We decided to leave, total lack of attention by the waiting staff. The manager offered to give us the meal for free however our experience had been ruined and it was almost 9pm so we left.

Gulshan catered for my wedding on the 18th August 2023, Komal and the team were unbelievably helpful. The food was amazing and his helpfulness was unmatched. Every guest enjoyed the food and me and my wife were impressed by how helpful he was. Thank you Gulshan and the team.

I just had Spicy Garlic chips, it was delicious and absolutely best.

Best curries in Newcastle, lovely venue and amazing food, we had the early bird menu and it's well worth the price. I had the Rogan Josh which was divine

Had the best curry ever last night, the staff lamb curry was amazing. Second visit, had the handi lamb, probs half the meat in the dish as last time. Drinks mega too especially wine, will not be rushing to return as very expensive now !

Lovely decor, friendly staff, and delicious food that is reasonably priced. Nachodoms were an interesting and very filling starter for 2 to share. The chicken tikka jalfrezi was one of the best I have ever had anywhere. Wine was reasonably priced, too. All in all, we had a lovely evening, and we will go back.

Second time visiting. A little on the pricey side in comparison to my local Indian down south. I went for the Nachodoms and they were incredible! Would highly recommend. Then I decided to go for chicken shashlik. This was very tasty, I did ask for it to be more spicy but they didn't add anything. My biggest concern was the service. I can't fault the people but the amount of people there was too many. We went at opening time but they literally were standing around staring and as soon as we were finished with a dish, collected it. It felt like they wanted us in and out very quickly. I would visit again but would hope for a better experience as it is nice food.

Food was great. Unfortunately service added 2 additional bottles of wine, when questioned (and encouraged to look at the CCTV) I was made to feel as though I was in the wrong. Terrible customer service, and won't be back. Shame.

Food is high end, great quality and service is excellent! Just very loud and you can hear the pumping music from the bar downstairs, not good for quiet conversation

Absolutely beautiful food, venue is so pretty but my biggest compliment must go to your lovely young staff, what a lovely team you have so polite especially Louise, what an asset she is, she got such a nice manner with her customers, well done Louise.

Had a great night here, friendly welcome, seated fast, and lovely the decoration in the restaurant area. The menu has traditional currys and chef specials. They also do frozen cocktails if the heat of the curry gets too much. I always book a table before visiting as it is a poplar restaurant. It's definitely worth a visit.

Picked this place for the nachodoms which were very nice but £7.50 for a bowl of broken poppadoms with an onion bhaji broken on top and some sauce is a bit excessive. Ended up sitting next to the noisiest table in tynemouth and even thought about asking to be moved somewhere quieter. The rest of the food was just okay. Two of the meals ordered were exactly the same apart from one you could see steam coming off when the lid was lifted and the other was warm. Staff were great even if they did ask if we wanted more drinks and had to say we're still waiting for the drinks we ordered to arrive. I have had much better indian food in other places. Toilets weren't great either you don't expect to have to carefully place your feet over puddles of piss when going. I wish i had asked to move to another table, at first i thought it would have been pointless as the place was full but later noticed only half the place was being used. Probably wouldn't recomend. Sorry not sorry.

Awful. Went there tonight for a meal with my husband. I ordered vegetable Dansak and was given prawn Dansak. Unfortunately, I had already started eating it before I realised what it was. I've been a vegetarian for 22 years so I was pretty upset. They did not understand at all and they brought another one out, which I did not feel like eating. They also said they would take the cost of the meal off the bill, which they didn't, so we ended up paying full price and went home hungry. Totally spoilt our night out. It specifies on the menu that they serve vegetarian food but vegetarians beware!

We usually dine in and have nothing but praise for the food however after ordering take out today sadly we were not impressed. The delivery was to be one and a half hours but ended up being over two hours. The lamb in the meal was lovely but lacked sauce and over powered with crunchy onions, I’m afraid to say most of the meal was left and not enjoyed!

We are regular visitors here. The food is always delicious. The staff / service is great, very friendly and polite staff, which makes all the difference. Had the early evening special, very good value.. We'll be back soon. Food was as great as usual. Thank you.

Disappointed. Had some lovely food from here previously but last nights take away was a real let down. The breads were very dense, heavy and chewy - not light and fluffy like I’ve received previously. The chicken, whilst in good quantity, was really over cooked, like rubber. Prawns were similar but not as bad. Overall this is an expensive place where a premium is charged for quality food. This was not quality on this occasion or anywhere near it. Back to Dabbawal for us as they are always consistent and excellent.

Fantastic evening and top notch spicy food. Would say I was a little disappointed by the service or lack of it at times. Food was delicious and would highly recommend the poppadom nachos sharing plate. Very good!! Nachodoms!!!! Decent IPA Cobra beer, also available is non alcoholic Cobra. Kids menu available. Clean inside. Tasty Indian!!! Takes American Express.

Decided to go to Gulshan early doors (5.15) for a New Years Eve treat .... VERY DISAPPOINTING .. the food was a complete let down sooo bland, could still taste the raw powder spices in the jalfreze the butter chicken had no taste the garlic in the rice was like chewing leather. The bill has a 20% service charge that they tell you about while walking you to your table and they stick a £1 cash for kids optional donation on before asking or telling you about. I'd have been more than pleased to pay both if the food had been good. All in all a massive let down tonight and I've ate there previously on many an occasion and been highly satisfied ... but NOT tonight.

Second visit here for us food was great very good (again 😋 ) staff very professional friendly attentive they run a smooth ship. If your in Tynemouth and like a curry this place is for you. We were 2 adults and 2 children

First visit tonight, impressed from the moment we walked in, beautiful decor, great welcome , friendly attentive service from the two girls serving us ( sorry we didn’t get their names) , great cocktail list, modern menu , food served at the perfect pace, delicious Rioja Blanco, loads of fish options which was an added bonus for me. Had my birthday here, food was amazing and the waitress who looked after us was truly amazing. She laughed and joked with us and made the party atmosphere great. Also a small complimentary dessert and Prosecco. I would recommend this restaurant very highly

Disappointing. Service time and food was a lower standard than usual. To be fair when we arrived at 7:30pm they were very busy, however our first drinks order didn’t arrive until we chased 20 mins later. We had popadoms before our starters but it took 1hr 10mins from ordering to receive our mains. Lamb Handi main was over spiced with aniseed flavour and we had to return. To be fair they didn’t charge for first round of drinks. Won’t be going back soon though.

Unreal! If anyone wants fine Indian cuisine this is the place to go! Food was sensational and the service was second to none! Give it a go you won’t be disappointed!!!! Thank you so much to the Gulshans team!

First time experience at Gulshan tonight and it was 5* from start to finish. The food was a taste sensation, I ordered the vindaloo and it was extremely tasty. We were served by 2 young polite and attentive young ladies who are a credit to Gulshan, I will definitely be returning in the near future!

Jal Jal naan bread is out of this world, food is always amazing !! Cannot fault the staff, service or quality.

Expensive and very disappointing

This is me and my partners favourite place in tynemouth and our favourite curry place in general. The food is just SO good. I am also a huge fan of the frozen strawberry daiquiris and candy floss cocktails!

Whitley curry houses have the edge on you. Thursday set menu, you need to be a little flexible on ordering. Don't like rice so wanted bread. Not allowed according to waitress. So paid for bread and waisted rice. Shame. Madras was OK but very acitic. 🤔

Service, restaurant and atmosphere nice, but the chicken tikka balti was bland, 50% of the meal was onion, most of which I pushed to one side leaving a large pile. I mentioned my disappointment but was just met with a smile.

The best food tynemouth has to offer if not the North of england. Been here that many times I've lost count. Food is un real each time every time. Staff leave you to eat but are always near by for drinks and that all important bill. Price for the area is fantastic. Highly recommended this restaurant for date nights, family nights, work nights.

This is a brilliant Indian restaurant and one you should hit when you’re in tynemouth. The food was delicious, very well priced and a generous portion. I had the jalfrazi which didn’t disappoint on any level. We sat down at 9pm on a Friday and there was a great vibe about the place which is helped by the very friendly staff.

Don't bother, gone way down hill. Forgot half the order, came literally pouring over in ghee, and flat cold. Pretty rude on the phone no attempt to salvage and was over charged. Fair play on the cocktails though they were good.

Outstanding food , Service was a little poor to start of with little attention after our food was served the waiter towards the end was a pleasure to meet had a good chat about Indian cuisine. We will return

Starter was excellent, service was perfect well looked after, only to be let down by the main with the chicken extremely overcooked and unfortunately couldn't finish. It was very busy as it was Saturday so I would Definitely be going back to try it again! Spicy beef with bread bun for starters was excellent. Gins probably the best I've had in tynemouth!

Absolutely atrocious. I wanted to order on-line from their menu to collect, their website said the next delivery slots were for the next day, this was at 9.30pm so not late. So I then called them to see if I could order over the phone and collect (I live opposite the restaurant!). I was told they were busy so no slots were available. I then went on Deliveroo, which had slots available but then £7.50 for someone to walk across the street. When I called the restaurant to query this I was accused of shouting and being condescending , neither of which I did, but the member of staff did to me, and told me he would cancel my Deliveroo order as he did not want my custom, and I should try the local kebab shop (btw there isn’t one). I was happy to wait for a takeaway slot to become available, as there was obviously a Deliveroo slot available for me, and I am pleased they have a busy kitchen in current circumstances, but there was a “computer says no approach”, and really very aggressive. To make it more laughable when I went onto Deliveroo to cancel my order it said I couldn’t as the kitchen was already preparing my order. This meant I had to phone the highly stressed and hysterical man back to cancel it for me, even though he “does not get paid enough” to deal with “abusive” customers like me. I never raised my voice, I certainly didn’t use bad language, I asked fair questions. I moved into the area very recently and could have become a regular customer. Deliveroo confirms I live 0.04 miles from the restaurant but was expected to pay a £7.50 delivery fee for a slot in the kitchen I obviously already had according to the App. So they can cook your food if they get their commission from Deliveroo, but not if you are a local customer who wants to just wander over the road, how very sad. I hope he wasn’t the manager (although looking at other negative reviews he may actually be the owner!!) and therefore the manager can provide the support this man obviously needs, but my custom will certainly not be coming their way, and I will not be substituting a fine dining Indian meal for a kebab (talk about condescending). I will just find a restaurant who offers appropriate customer service. I suggest you avoid for take-away / delivery, I cannot comment on table service, nor will I ever.

Had a meal here on Sunday night. The decor is excellent and the service and staff superb. The meal was very tasty and plentiful and well presented. Only a couple of minor gripes, they ran out of onion bhajis! and the coffee machine was off. Don't know if it was broken or just turned off but put a bit of a downer on the experience. Overall though an excellent restaurant and worth a visit.

We paid a visit to Gulshan on Thursday ,once again excellent service, and excellent meal as always ,they never fail to please you ,would I recommend this restaurant, YES no doubt about it 😀 .

The owner “Suff Rahman” was the rudest person I have ever met in the hospitality industry! For someone who owns a restaurant you would think he would treat customers with respect, after being treated like rubbish I tried to explain to him how I felt! with him to respond “Well you are welcome to leave the restaurant”! The guys an absolute joke! Shame really because I’ve heard really good reviews of the place.When you see this review Suff Rahman have a think about the way you treat potential customers mate!

Disgusting customer serviceGreeted with ‘you cant come in here without a mask’ by an angry member of staff later to find out he was the owner.Shoved to the side and told to sit and wait.While waiting a group came in they seemed to be friends or regulars greeted and shown straight to their table none of them had masks on nothing was questioned.Spoke to the owner and mentioned that the initial encounter made us uncomfortable and we were asked to leave if we didn’t feel comfortable.Absolutely disgusting and rude customer service.
