The place is well appointed and had nice Indian music playing in the background. The staff were friendly and attentive. Menu had loads of choice and it arrived promptly and was beautifully served. Very reasonable prices too. I would go again

Excelente !! Y el precio es magnífico, nada caro.

Desperate disappointed with this kip. Wish I'd read the tripadvisor reviews first. It was appalling. Seriously expensive and honestly, the quality was less than you'd get out of an uncle ben's jar of curry sauce. Small, mean, tasteless portions. Rubbish wine, awful service. Starters were cold. My madras was very mild, bland and I suspect straight out of a jar. The chicken was awful - massively bulked up with water. What made the night even worse was we asked the waiter where would we get a taxi to the west end, he said he'd sort it. Next thing a relative of his pulls up outside. Stupidly, we got in even though it was clearly unlicenced. Queue comical confusion, god no, don't know where west end is. He started driving the wrong direction. I pulled out the trusty iphone and showed him he was driving further away, suddenly his sense of direction returned.Imagine being conned twice - a dreadful filthy restaurant and a con artist taximan. For shame.

We have been through all sorts of places and experiences. But this one has got to be the worst. The food, nothing special. The near-abuse from waiters, and manager, unprecedented. The bill, quite large. AVOID!

The only thing that was acceptable was the nan. Overpriced low quality wine. Clean tableclothes;) to write something positive. Why do people who are not interested in food open restaurants I have no idea.

Visitamos Gufaa anoche.

We visited this restaurant last night (11/2/2012) and we honestly think this is the worst curry we have ever had. To be honest the chicken starter wasn't bad but then I chose the MURGH SAGRANA which was listed as their ' Special' and described as 'An exceptional chicken dish unique to Gufaa and cooked especially for weddings!' Well, I don't know what weddings they go to but if this was at most weddings there would be divorces by the end of the day! This dish was just a Korma in a fancy pot! They told me this would be full of spice, but seriously, I've tasted better out of a can! They then brought exactly the same food back in an even fancier dish! After refusing to eat any more of it they added it to our bill! Great service!!!! After some fuss, which I hate and find embarrassing, they removed this from the bill. I won't ever go to this restaurant again and urge you to walk on by if looking for a curry in this area.

Repito seguro.

The waiter was grumpy, the food overpriced and either just ok or terrible. The dosa we had for starters was small, limp with no flavour and served with ketchupI think the waiter was upset we weren't drunk and so would not come to suggestive selling of extra beers poppadoms and the like.

I'm not sure at what point the meal turned sour. Was it possibly the £9 for five half-charred poppadoms and chutney - yes, I double checked my poppadom hadn't been lacquered in gold-leaf and no, the chutney hadn't been hand-milked from the breast of Sheba either. It could also have been the rosé wine, which conformed so delightfully to that futuristic E.U vision of bored French viticulturists mixing dreg-ends of white and red bargain-bin plonk together in industrial-sized vats and shipping the resultant vinegar off to the ignorant "rosbif". Or maybe it was the 45 minute wait for a collection of identical dishes swimming in a ubiquitous lukewarm almondy goop: whether ghosht pasanda, korma or tandoori, you could bet it was going to yellow and devoid of any kick whatsoever. The crispy burnt onion bits at the bottom of my dish were the elements that elicited possibly the only excited groan of the evening. The indignant look of the near-comatose waiter when we tried to remove the service charge from our exorbitant bill at least provided entertainment value, as did the grand debate on the possible provenance of the aforementioned "creamy sauce". Best not to think too long about it, and head somewhere else.

Just came from birthday meal enfamille, we had four dishes and a kebab between us, the best Indian food I have eaten in many years!Ignore that first review; that person must've caught them at a bad moment. Honestly, I've eaten a lot of Indian food, and this was tops!

The food is terrible and the service is on a par with this. Avoid at all costs. If you're in Islington try Parveen (further down Upper Street) or Emni across the road. Both are a far cry from the awful food served here.
