Griffin Inn in Halton

The food was lovely but we were made to feel that we were very much an inconvenience by the waiter . He was very rude . This isn’t the first time we have seen this waiter interact with customers and we were not impressed with his people skills again . He is the only reason we may never visit again.

Had a lovely meal at the Griffin last night - Nice to see some new things on the menu, I had the crispy chicken burger and the chocolate fondant and wow😍The chocolate fondant was gorgeous - The food is gorgeous as always and I received lovely service from Shaunna and Declan. Will definitely be visiting again

After a lovely meal and experience in January we took the family back for Easter weekend and had a very different experience, sadly. The service was slow, the food order was wrong, and the meals were not great on this occasion. Such a shame after such a good night in January :(

Went for an evening meal disappointing to say the least two lots of fish and chips and sausage and mash .Batter on fish thick and greasy chips had been refried and where like bricks sausages deep fried more than once and mash was smash and if the waiter had come and ask if everything was ok which he didn’t would have said the same.Won’t be going back

We were greeted with incredibly friendly staff and taken straight to our table. Our drinks and food order were promptly taken by Hussein and we didn't have to wait long for either. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was very relaxing.

Great new Spring menu, the lamb shank in the shepherds pie was exceptional. Emily was a knowledgeable and friendly waitress and a good front of house person for the business

Walked in without a booking - no problem. Very friendly staff, given as much time as we needed to select a meal. The meal was standard pub fare well cooked and delivered promptly. The prices were fair. Would definately go back and recommend. Sian was excellent.

I brought a colleague here for lunch about a week ago. Lovely place, spotlessly clean and a very relaxed atmosphere. Our waiter, Dave, was an absolute delight: he was polite, friendly and efficient, and the service was spot on. The food was tasty and the servings were generous (try the steak ciabatta, excellent). I would definitely recommend the Griffin if you appreciate good service and food.

Lovely food and service from Chloe was excellent, very attentive and friendly. Dessert was delicious and very good portion sizes for the mains.

We moved to the area recently and have visited The Griffin 3 times now as a family with young children. The service is very good - friendly. The food is fantastic pub-style food. Between us we’ve tried the chicken and ham pie, fillet steak, roast dinner, cheese burger and hunters chicken. All very nice. The kids food is great too. It’s our new favourite local pub!

Went for an ad-hoc late lunch at the Griffin, mid-week February, as 2 adults and a baby. As it’s one of the Chef and Brewer chain, the menu was pretty standard as in simple starters, a varied choice of mains and desserts. The ambiance was nice and chilled and in keeping with the historical background of the building. Staff were very courteous, speedy and were helpful without being over bearing. We had the shared starter, followed by 2 mains and dessert. Each course was presented nicely and was hot. Some of the meals were standard pre-prepared as can be expected, such as the Steak and Ale pie. Facilities were available for the baby (9 months), there was plenty of room for the high-chair next to the table and there was no issue with the baby eating food that we had brought with us. In conclusion: great for a quick pub lunch. Easy parking, nice atmosphere and great staff, not Michelin, but nice, clean and filled the spot.

Been here before and it has been okay. Tonight was very disappointing. My tea bone steak was mostly cold and gristle. The chips were cold and the rocket salad with whatever was thrown over it was limp and uninviting. The steak was char grilled but tasted like the grill hadn't been cleaned for a while. Ordered peppercorn sauce but didn't get it. Got it taken off the bill though. Ordered a lager shandy got lager couldn't be bothered querying that. Very poor indeed won't be back shame

As always, great friendly service in a lovely local pub. Great variety of drinks on offer. Sheila and Sian are super friendly and always on hand when you need a top up.

This establishment has a vibe of ethereal splendor. Dave was able to expertly multitask switching roles with a seamless transition, executed to fruition, all with a smile on his face. Thank you for your pragmatic approach for serving me the lunch menu at 4pm, a personable approach which has ensured a sustained impact (we are planning to returning again tonight!). My colleague was so impressed with the mushroom and ale pie; she has been dreaming about it all day today and insisted we all return. Shout out to Dec who oozed emotional intelligence and negotiated our swift exit so we could set up for our Shrek the musical. Shrek- tacular place!

Sorry to report it is hit and miss if you receive a good meal anymore . We have always given five stars, but our recent experiences are as follows :- November 2023. Fantastic birthday celebration for my daughter, there were sixteen of us, nothing was pre ordered. The meals all arrived together, perfectly cooked, fantastic staff, a great night. December 2023. There were five of us a family meal out, the food was disgusting, anything fried was within an inch of its life, but fantastic front of house staff. February 2024. There were five of us again a birthday family meal, the food was excellent, the staff are amazing, great night out. The reason I am reporting the above, is we know of others that have had similar experiences. The problem is who is in charge of the kitchen and able cooking everything to perfection. I hope my constructive comments help other trip advisors and the more importantly the management of the Griffin Inn. I would respectfully suggest that if you are not able to provide an experienced cook in the kitchen, do not take any bookings for food on that day.

Went for Sunday roast five of us, was recommended. We all had roast dinner which came with frozen potatoes and frozen veg over priced meal, won’t be going again.

We came for a quiet meal with a lovely atmosphere and the Griffin Inn had everything we needed, the staff was friendly and polite, the food was fresh and hot on arrival. We will definitely be coming back for a meal and a few drinks.

This was our first Christmas day dinner out at a pub we were really looking forward to it paid £72.99 each for 3 courses that were absolutely disgusting and inedible. Crab and avocado salad for starters, looked like an orange sloppy mess on the plate...

The sunday roast was very poor for the price charged. Very hard over cooked potatoes deep fried (awful) hard over cooked peas, very thin meat from a packet. Great dissapointment.

My wife and I visited this venue at least twice a month. We no longer use this venue as the menu is so poor and very little choice. We now use the Crown in Birchfield Road Widnes instead
