Greengate Fisheries in Bradford

This is such a great chippie. We use it a couple of times a month and it's ALWAYS good. The batter is crispy and a nice colour, the fish is nice and white, really tasty. The chips are great - exactly what you want from chip shop chips. Nothing soggy, lovely golden colour! I like that it's a proper fish and chip shop and doesn't mess around with other extras, it does one thing and really well. The staff are lovely, so friendly but also do a great job. Even our 16 month old looks forward to getting fish and chips from there as a little treat sometimes now! If we moved out of the area, we'd come back to visit for the fish and chips 🤣

Having moved to the area quite recently we tried a few fish and chip shops before we settled on Greengates. You always get a good portion of fresh well cooked fish and plenty of chips. I enjoy the way they cook the meal with the chips having a cooked colour and full of flavour. Fish is fresh , lovely white meat and a crispy batter. Staff are friendly and are kept busy with a steady flow of customers. Well done!

Never had a bad meal from the family run business. Always very fresh fish - big portions too without any inflated prices. Know it for cash-only policy which I could see being a problem if you nip in unplanned, but as long as you know it’s not a problem. Never tried anywhere else locally since trying here.

Lovely team and a handy location, however I’ve stopped coming here as they use beef dripping as fat rather than vegetable oil and I’ve got a house full of fussy eaters! We go to Murgatroyds now which is further away but actually much tastier - beef dripping leaves a horrid greasy aftertaste. I’ll go back if they ever switch!

Amazing staff very nice fish ane chips, my father sadly had a fall and smashed his face in the staff had taken grate care off him. Much appreciated for the help, his now looking a little bruised but his okay.

Not been a few months - happy to report this place is still doing top notch fish and chips. Excellent friendly service, good choice of extras. Maybe the curry sauce could be thicker? Thats a massively minor point though as all the main items are top.

In My opinion they are the best fish n chips in this area. A little Gem tucked away on Harrogate Road at Greengates. Consistently excellent quality and great sized succulent fish. Always pleasant people and helpful too! Many Thanks. 5 deserved stars.

We have tried many of the fish shops in this area but this one is always consistant . They are cooked fresh and are good quality and value for money . I would recomend this fish shop to anyone who is visiting the area.

Consistent high quality. All cooked to order. Finest haddock in the area, bar none. Well worth a drive to use, ample off-street parking at the door

This has been and still is one of the best fish and chip shops in Bradford, massive portion size, cooked how you ask for it, if you want lightly fried then ASK for it, the fish are double the size of most other fish and chip shops and are always cooked fresh to order, this is a friendly family run business that has been run by the same family for probably 20 years +, and you don't trade that long by serving poor quality food.

This was the first time we had ever had lunch at this fish shop, we work locally , we were very disappointed; our chips were very scrappy ,although huge portion they were transparent and fatty , and although my fish was the size of a whale , it was basking in a sea of grease , totally inedible, heart burn afternoon for me after nibbling on the chips , I’m really disappointed in this place , it really looks great from the outside , but they need to know how to fry there food , and remember it’s not quantity ,, it’s quality , this fish shop is in a very sort after lovely affluent place , some thought and consideration could make it a great place , remember your in a great spot , make it a great place to eat !!
