Green Tree Restaurant in Scottish Borders

I have been to a couple of dinners at the Green Tree and they are always efficient and tasty.

3rd visit,though we'd try the Christmas menu,,,wrong choice😪 Firstly waited 10 minutes to be seated in a freezing reception with around 6 other people,then shown into a hall , when I had booked the small area,then eventually ordered by the most dullest waitresses ever,the 2 young girl were fine. Good choices on the menu ,but the roast best was as tough as old boots,dog enjoyed it when we got home. Turkey was fine and plentiful. Kids had the steak burger, tastless, macaroni, no taste. Seeing it was Christmas the hall could have been a little bit Christmassy. Quick enough with the bill,but very poor service overall 😕

A friendly staff and private parking. Interior cozy especially the lounge. Wide selection of food including smaller portions. Good quality meals including items like Sea Bass ans Gamon. Everything hot and well cooked. No long waits. First class.

My wife and I have had a meal at this excellent restaurant when we have visited Peebles in the past and once again the meal proved was great. The staff are kindness itself and treat customers with care and kindness from what we have observed. Well done Green Tree and 'we will be back' !

Was at the green tree last week not impressed with the fish-and-chips because the chips are disgusting, They are chips with the skins still on them Not worth the money, just a cheap and easy way out, as apposed to the real thing

Called for lunch husband had the steak pie and was very pleased to see you could have potatoes and veg instead of chips!! I had the burger which was very good no room for dessert unfortunately we will return

We decided to give The Green Tree a try for lunch. We were not disappointed. What a lovely place with really good, hardworking staff. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. The food is excellent and great value for money. An extensive menu with daily specials on offer. Enjoyed it so much we actually booked a nights stay for later in the year. Looking forward to another visit.

Eight of us visited the restaurant and everyone had a most enjoyable evening dinner. A fairly varied menu provided us all with a delightful and plentiful meal. Aside from the typical “pub” favourites there were also numerous specials on offer. Suffice to say all eight of us would eat here again in a heart beat. We booked a table in this restaurant whilst staying in Peebles overnight. When we arrived we were initially thought looked nice but a bit like a office canteen. The staff were lovely and the service was very good. When the food arrived it looked and tasted lovely everything was fresh and home made. We were really impressed. We will definitely be back. One criticism should be dim the lights to increase the ambiance we were unsure if this was because of Covid though.

My husband and I had dinner at the Green Tree this evening and were absolutely delighted with the quality of our meals. Our two girls also enjoyed their meals. The service was friendly and efficient and they took great care of us. The tables were very well spread out with all staff wearing masks and sanitizer available. Been countless times and will return countless more!! Tastiest food in the borders and very wide selection on the menu with specials ever changing.

First time back since the lockdown. The hotel lounge is cosy and has free wi fi. A good range of food including, set menu, a la carte and specials. There should be something for everybody and at a very fair price. We had a lovely lunch and the service was prompt but not rushed. We shall be back.

We ate here on our last night of a 3 night stay in Peebles, and what a great choice. I chose the venison special and my husband chose steak pie,both of which were declared delicious. We followed with sticky toffee pudding which was a very generous portion and again very yummy. Post Covid the place was quite busy for a Wednesday night,and my only negative comment was it seemed that due to popularity and social distancing ,we were in the function room which was a little like a church hall,but minor due to excellence of food.

We stayed overnight here and were served by very pleasant staff who were professional, polite and efficient, the hotel is perfectly located and the cooked breakfast is just perfect

Lovely food and friendly service. My first restaurant meal since lockdown was lifted. They had hand sanitiser on entry which was great and all the staff wore face masks. I use a wheelchair and the only thing that let it down was that they store chairs in a mini corridor between the disabled toilet and the restaurant which limits turning space and makes it near impossible. My wheelchair is quite compact and I ended up hurting myself trying to turn around to exit the toilet.

Met some family in Peebles for some Sunday lunch. Phoned 24 hours in advance to warn of impending Vegan visit and was met with very obliging attitude. When arrived I had FOUR vegan options. So happy, wish I could have had them all. Had vegan burger which was homemade, very fresh and delicious. Rest of the family were delighted with their choices too, roast beef, duck and sea bass. Not to mention lovely starters and giant sized homemade puddings. The staff are excellent and organised with military precision. Polite, happy, attentive and professional, even the young staff. The whole place is very clean and currently going through an upgrade program, I believe, although the old school decor is totally fine. But most of all, we were happy, well fed and relaxed. Went here for Christmas lunch mid December with a group of ladies. Excellent choice, food and large portions. Excellent value for money.

I recently visited Peebles with my family and we stopped at ‘The Green Tree’ for a light lunch. AMAZING. I ordered the nachos and delicious is an understatement. The rest of my family loved their meals too leaving us very content. The staff were very helpful and also very funny. The restaurant had a lovely relaxed atmosphere and the cheap prices made up want to return instantly. I would recommend to all!!

The menu was extensive. The food was excellent. The Terrys orange cheese cake was a big hit but so were the other desserts too. Very friendly quick service. Couldn't fault our night there at all and would highly recommend.

A convenient place to stop in the centre of Peebles, the Green Tree has a light and spacious restaurant offering a varied menu at reasonable prices.

It was like going back in time to Butlin's holiday camp, the wide open dining areas, the tables and chairs from the 70's, decor being the same. The whole place needs a good clean and updating. I had the Lamb and overboard on the mint burger, chips from a bag, my other half had the roast. The beef on the roast was excellent, but the rest of the plate left a lot to be desired, vegetables were cooked well, but the broccoli showed signs of being past it's sell by date, brown on the the edges.

I stayed at the green tree for one night at the beginning of October. On arriving I asked for a table for one and was found something very quickly. The staff were efficient but very friendly and welcoming. It felt like nothing was too much trouble. I had the mushroom and goats cheese burger which was well cooked, delicious and great value for money.

Even though it was very busy when we arrived, the staff were all very friendly and efficient. Would recommend the chicken supreme which was great. Be aware that the portions are on the large size. Good value for money.

The decor and wine may not be out of this world but the food and staff are.

In for lunch and ate in the pleasant small dinning room. Good selection on the menu and service prompt. We had a tasty leek & potatoe soup, not blended to death. Next up a generous portion of duck for my wife and a seafood crepe for me. We finished with sorbet for my wife and a roulade for me. Everything was tasty, well presented and of a good size. Great value.

We had a 2 course meal deal. I had fish & chips, husband had scampi & chips both very tasty & ample portions. Followed by a lemon sponge with custard & I had raspberry & white chocolate roulade. Both were really enjoyed. Staff were friendly and quick service.

Went for lunch and the food was below par. There were brown bits on my salad leaves, and my daughters macaroni was tasteless. The seats were also stained and the service was so slow we almost walked out. Wish we had as the food was so disappointing.

We ate here twice and the food was excellent, the service good and the staff friendly. The children’s menu has a very good selection. There are two fixed price menus with a good selection, plus full a la carte. There is public parking nearby which is free except on Saturdays.

Whist visiting friends in Peeble we had a birthday celebration made all the better by the quality of food and service provided by the manager and his staff at Green Tree. The food came together, all fresh and piping hot, the table service left no one waiting and we were made to feel very welcome. We had young children with us and they were catered for with care and attention. Fabulous night, fabulous friends and fabulous food, will visit again on my return to Peebles Scotland.

We walked out of the park hotel restaurant in disgust and found our way to the green tree. WOW. The portions are huge & delicious! The specials are delightful and the staff are warm & friendly I would recommend the green tree restaurant to anyone.
