Had food here and had to get staff to change dirty, sticky cutlery. Table was sticky and had to make sure I didn’t rest my arms on it. Reading other reviews it appears this is a common complaint. This is not difficult to sort out, honestly. Food was ok and coffee was fine but basic hygiene and attention to (the simplest) of detail let’s them down.

Was a nice place before they upgraded it. Also they were horrible to my mum about her lips they were pointing and every thing made here feel terrible about how she looked. They have alright good not much only panini and wraps also cake is sometimes stale. But if you want to go there and get judged for no reason then go but I suggest not to.

My family were visiting me from abroad and as we were looking around Caerphilly in the nippy November air we got a little thirsty and started to look for a coffee shop. The grazing ground was the first one we came across and decided to step in. The shop itself was quite cosy and clearly a little bit of effort had been put in the interior. The disappointment during the visit was the fact that after we sat down at our table the table was sticky and dirty with food and drink stains on. My mother asked the waitress if she could give the table a quick wipe to which she said yes. She came back with a damp cloth and only wiped around my mothers coffee cup. The table is well over a meter long and wide... she obviously couldn’t care too much about all of her customers experience. Nevermind, luckily we only got a coffee.

This is a short walk away from Caerphilly castle on one of the side streets. It is easy to find. Find a seat, order and pay at the counter. The food is then brought across to you when it is ready. They do a good range of paninis, sandwiches and cakes. My son said it was the best bacon sandwich he has had for months (and he eats a lot of bacon sandwiches). The paninis we tried were also tasty. There is a specials board as well as the main menu.

A lovely little coffee shop in the heart of town. Plenty of choice on the menu. Pleasant staff who seem to be under a lot of stress with a renovation taking place, but they don't let it effect the customer service one bit. Food and drinks always hot and tasty and plenty of naughty cake choices too. Sad to see such nasty comments from people nit-picking. As I understand it they have new owners and are in the middle of a well needed renovation, so give them a chance and I'm sure when all the work is done it will be absolutely well worth a visit. Keep up the good work girls and ignore the negatativity. You run the place, not own it and aren't responsible for furniture and paint work and if it's been so busy that you've run out of things and people aren't understanding, then tough 😊

This place is wonderful. I was in my own with my baby and he was very upset and needed feeding. I came into the cafe and sat down to feed him. Straight away a member of staff brought me a glass of water (I hadn't even asked for it, but it was gratefully received) I was made to feel welcome and valued. Once my baby had fed I went onto order and the food was tasty, well presented and tasty. It's great to find a place that welcomes mum's with babies and values their custom. A great place to eat in Caerphilly.

Visiting Caerphilly castle and was looking for somewhere for lunch. We wandered away from where the other tourists seemed to be headed (opposite the castle entrance) and headed uphill along the main road. This place is slightly off the tourist track but is well worth seeking out (it's only 5 mins away from the castle - located just past the HSBC bank) Friendly welcome in clean modern surroundings. Good menu plus specials on the chalkboards - main meals and light lunches/snacks and cakes. Catering for both vegetarians and meateaters. We opted for a veggie panang curry and a chicken balti. Both were tasty and warming (rather than overly spicy). Portions were a good size and the price was a total bargain. Seek this place out and you'll be very happy you did.

Well, almost to the day a year later I revisited this cafe when I was in town last week. Unfortunately, I had the same problem as the first time, except this time I didn’t even receive my toasted sandwich. Same order, same problem. I finished my latte but did not receive my toasted sandwich at all, even though people who came in after me had received their orders which included food. Greatly annoyed I asked for my money back as I wasn’t going to wait any longer, which I received back with no problem. (Hence the two stars, the second being for the quick service of my latte). Very disappointing. They say third time lucky but I will not be returning to find out if that would be true or not.

Stumbled across this wonderful tea room without any prior knowledge of it or having seen any Trip Advisor reviews. We had been walking around Caerphilly looking for somewhere to sit down with our little dog - surprisingly difficult to find anywhere. But what a gem we found. There was a written menu consisting of paninis, jacket potatoes, toasties etc plus an extensive specials board with more substantial meals like lasgne, chilli and curries. Our panini and toastie were great. They also serve loose leaf tea in teapots which was a bonus. If you have a very well behaved dog then this is the place to go.

Stopped here for a light lunch. I had cheese and bacon panini. sadly the bacon was placed on the edge of the panini rather than in the pannini and it kept falling off when I took a bite so I ended up with cheese panini and bacon side. I popped in at lunchtime for coffee and cake on Tuesday 27th June. The ladies serving behind the counter were very friendly, happy to chat and recommend which cake to try as I couldn't decide between the Coffee & Walnut or the White Chocolate Marble Cake. I went for the marble cake; very happy I did because it was lovely. Moist sponge layers with lots of icing through the middle, a real treat. The coffee wasn't quite as strong as I would have liked; not sure if it had anything to do with ordering a decaff or not but it was still nice and frothy. The only shame about the visit was the 2-seater leather sofa next to the counter that I sat on. The cushions need looking at because neither of them were very comfy (I tried both sides), with lumpy bits sticking up so I couldn't relax properly. Will definitely return to try the food as the specials looked good (although I am curious about the portion sizes given that a panini costs almost as much as a main?)

(NOT the fault of the staff)We tried the coffee and walnut cake it was delicious, so much so that I was tempted to like the plate, but my wife said it would be rude.I checked the wine list and there is a fair cross section at reasonable prices. I was interested to read the comment on the poor quality of faggots and peas. Both myself and my son have had faggots and peas here on a number of occasions. Speaking for ourselves we found that they were of excellent quality and good portion size. Also for just over £5 good value for money. If they were not all these things we would not have returned for more.

We stopped in here for a quick coffee one afternoon, quiet atmosphere but nice, chairs were comfortable and staff were friendly. Coffee was okay there beans are quite strong for myself and they don't have a variety of milk option, the only alternative to milk is soy. But overall enjoyed my experience, great place for chilled afternoon!

Decided to visit this café after reading reviews on trip advisor & not being local to the area.Very busy when we went in but soon cleared & we got a table pretty quickly. Good choice on the menu & went for jacket potato to be told they had sold out already & it was only 12.45pm!Decided on a falafel & houmous Panini which was really nice. The cakes looked lovely but was full from the Panini.Would visit again if in the area.

I have visited The Grazing Ground on many occasions with friends or my husband and daughter and they never fail to give a good service. The staff are always friendly which quite frankly makes a change theses days. The food is always of a high standard and the coffee is one of the best in Caerphilly. Thoroughly recommend!!!

I made my first visit here yesterday after meaning to go there for so long. I'm happy to say it didn't disappoint! I had a regular cappuccino, which was a really big cup, and a hummus and falafel panini, which was also a decent size and very nice. My parents had tuna and mayonnaise sandwiches which they also enjoyed. The service was very helpful and friendly. I didn't try any of the cakes, but hope to next time. I'll definitely be back! It is great to see an independent cafe like this in Caerphilly.

How refreshing to visit a local coffee shop that is not part of a national chain! The beverages are really good and the cakes are home made. Sandwiches and snacks are amazing. Well worth a visit

Stopped to see the castle and popped in here for a quick bite to eat. Ordered a tuna panini and it was delicious! The bread was fresh and it was huge! (See photo!) The menu has lots of options and a huge range of teas. The tea room itself has a lovely decor and is spotless. Overall it cost us £12 for a panini, toasted sandwich, tea and a lemonade - very reasonable especially considering the portion size! Would definitely return if I'm in the area again!

It was the big cheese event so Caerphilly was crowded, managed to get a table noticed none of the tables had been cleared had to ask a passing server to clear the table it was not wiped down. There was a long wait for food, I ordered a bacon sandwich which came divided into 4 small pieces, the bacon was very crispy. Asked for glass of water which did not come until the meal came. My experience may have been a one off due to the cafe being very busy.

Inside it is an eclectically decorated environment but pleasant .Certainly clean and well presented. This was also shown in cup and cutlery whilst the tea pots were immaculate. It is loose tea by the way.Our decaff tea seemed to brew slowly, judged by colour but check the taste as well as you could be misled. My pannini was well filled and served with a fresh salad garnish.Note that the only salad dressing here is salad cream, in satchets.Pleasant waitress service, indeed everything very pleasant and good vale.

I visited the Grazing Ground with with my niece and her husband for lunch. It is a delightful cafe where the staff are so helpful and friendly nothing is too much trouble. The menu offers a good choice for vegetarians and is very reasonably priced. I opted for a jacket potato with cheese and onion, which was extremely tasty. I chose the carrot cake for a dessert which was delicious. All the cakes are home made and melt in the mouth. I shall definitely visit again.

Both my wife and myself thought that the Grazing Ground was a lovely little establishment. We had not researched it ahead of time, but we decided to go in for a hot drink and a snack when we chanced upon it during a rain shower. We weren't disappointed. The cafe was quiet enough to have a peaceful read, despite being fairly busy on a wet morning. We thought it was an appealing menu and there were lovely staff who looked after us really well. I loved the tea, and the toast that I had to accompany it was made from very good quality bread. There were some nice sounding options on the menu which would have made an ideal lunch, but we felt it was a bit early in the day for anything apart from a breakfast type item like toast! We were extremely impressed with this little gem. We will recommend it to anyone visiting the town, and we'll definitely be back.

A lovely homely place to eat. Try the afternoon tea. It comes with sandwiches, scones and cream along with more cake. The staff are very accommodating if you have special dietary needs. You will not feel rushed and can ask for more hot water for your tea (which is made with real tea leaves and not in a bag). My husband doesn't like tea so they gave him coffee instead.
