Took my daughter for lunch here this afternoon, all look nice if a little quirky & odd smell about the place but figured it was an old building.. we sat at the table we where told to sit at, the table was mucky from the previous people who had sat there, no one come to wipe it down.. we ordered our food & both ordered a can of Coke, we where served our drinks in a glass no can to be seen so I have no doubt it came from a bottle & charged the can prices,Our food arrived & the girl carrying it spilt most of it on the floor then put it down in front of me, now i am not sure what sort of beef sandwich these people have ever ate but it was not what I was expecting!! It was beef cubes in watery gravy on a toasted bread bun with two onions.. we have to order chips separately & some where not cooked & where freezing & soaked in oil totally inedible.. my daughter got what was supposed to be a BLT but without the LT with just the smallest bit of toast & hard bacon.. the salad was awful..& crisps where burnt & soft.. needless to say we pushed it around our plates & when to leave.. we went to the checkout to pay & was asked if all was ok? I said the chips where freezing & uncooked the girl behind the counter just rolled her eyes no apology, nothing.. where we where sat at the table the staff in the Kitchen could be heard swearing a moaning about a customer. I just hope it was a customer who had already left so they didn’t have to hear it, not a place for a child’s ears.. very rude & unclean place.. very unprofessional..

Beautiful home cooked food in a cosy corner of Richmond. You may not spot Granny’s Kitchen as you’re walking along but it’s definitely worth looking for! Everything is home made and delicious we also bought some of their bread and biscuits to take away. Dog friendly in the heated courtyard which is very warm and beds provided for dogs which was a nice touch. Will definitely be back!

Granny’s Kitchen is by far one of the best cafés to visit in Richmond! Whenever we’re in town, we will always make a trip to the shop itself or their market stall in the centre of town if it’s Market Day as there is always such a fantastic range of items on offer. It’s also great to see local produce from in and around the Dales being sold here that will be sure to suit everyone’s taste. Just before Christmas, we made a visit to the shop to purchase some bakes to enjoy over the festive season. Even though the café was very busy when we went in, the staff on duty gave such a warm welcome into the shop, allowing plenty of time to choose from a selection of items displayed. The staff have truly made fantastic use of the space they have in the shop, beautifully displaying all of the items they have available and carefully labelling all of the products for you to easily see and select from. After browsing through the selection on offer, we opted for a large pork pie, a cornflake tart and a freshly baked loaf of bread. When we returned home, we tucked into the products we’d bought after a long day of last minute Christmas shopping. It was just what we needed! The flavour of the pork pie is by far the best we’ve ever had, the cornflake tart truly took us back to our childhoods and the loaf of bread was baked to perfection! I would highly recommend Granny’s Kitchen to anyone visiting Richmond, particularly if you’re wanting to try a selection of local produce or stop for a bite to eat in the café itself. I could not fault any of the products we’ve tried from here over the past few years as they have always been top quality bakes! It’s such a lovely place to visit and it’s always great to be able to try out a selection of new products, as well as firm favourites, after each visit here! If you haven’t already and you’re in the area, give Granny’s Kitchen a visit as you’ll be sure to find your new favourite café!

Spent the weekend in Richmond and, after going to a recommended, pricier establishment for breakfast on day one, we weren't blown away. On day two we found Granny's Kitchen (no mean feat in itself as it is squirreled away down a ginnel). It felt like something out of Harry potter to be sat in the indoor/outdoor area but still be warm and cosy.So we order breakfast (standard for the wife and the large for me). The food was hot and really good quality, also plenty of it.The crowning glory was the homemade bread for the toast. When I enquired, I was told they have loaves to buy so I brought one home. My son had it for breakfast (and dinner) and then asked me if I could go to Richmond this weekend and buy some more!Overall a great place and we will definitely be visiting again.

Lovely home made food. We visited as 2 adults and a hungry teen. Pie mash and beans very tasty, nice pastry well filled. I had an afternoon tea which was lovely, two brown home made bread with delicious ham and a white egg mayo , little scone, blueberry and lemon cake flapjack square and sausage roll. Lots of food for one person but worth having, the bread was lovely with proper butter ahickly sliced ham the scone was light ( always a good test) I asked for chutney which was also good. The teen had homemade tomato soup, cheese and ham toastie and milkshake, pronounced all very good. We sat outside in the little alleyway, staff lovely, would visit again.

We visited last Sunday and regret going as there were much nicer options for the same money to be had.I had pie and peas and the peas were poor quality and obviously tinned. The pie looked like something you would buy in a four pack from a freezer shop and I left most of it. My husband had sausages in a yorkshire pudding that was obviously not homemade, it looked like something again that you would buy in a freezer shop. We paid and left and no one asked us if we had enjoyed the meal or if everything was ok, as stated on many of the reviews here which the owner has replied to.

We visited after reading the good reviews on here, but I am afraid to say we were disappointed. Yes the prices are reasonable but the food was tasteless. I had chilli which had no flavour of chili, but was mainly onion, tin tomatoes and kidney beans. It was distinctly lacking in mince! Also ironically as it was chilli it really wasn't very warm (nor was the cafe). My husbands beef in a yorkshire was enjoyed more by him but again the beef was more like chunks of stewing steak. Sad to say we will not return. Also there were no fish dishes of any type on the menu.
