The frame is great, better than in the photos. The food is excellent. Small downside on the service a little bit of waiting and the waitress could be a little more pleasant. The music is a little too loud during the meal.

The Grand Pacific's afternoon tea experience is renowned for its elegant presentation and delightful array of sweet and savory treats. We had a selection of freshly baked scones served with clotted cream and preserves, alongside a variety of delicate finger sandwiches featuring classic fillings with a twist. It also includes a tempting assortment of pastries, cakes, and desserts, showcasing both traditional British favorites and exotic flavors inspired by Asian cuisine. The presentation is impeccable, with attention to detail evident in every aspect of the service. Situated in a stunning Grade II listed building, the ambiance is luxurious with high ceilings, chandeliers, and plush seating. The elegant surroundings of the Grand Pacific restaurant further enhance the afternoon tea experience, making it perfect for indulging in a leisurely afternoon treat with friends or loved ones.

The service and entertainment were perfect at Grand Pacific, really like going there for cocktails. But I was a little bit disappointed on the food. Maybe it’s because I like my food to be a bit more flavorous. Their food is more like a healthy taste, it’s not bad at all but I don’t think I will go back again for the food in short time especially with that price. The dessert was good.

The service received this afternoon was unsatisfactory, as waiter Andre displayed rudeness and abruptness while serving food in an aggressive manner. Our request to change waiters was met with poor service from manager Chloe, who also demonstrated inappropriate behaviour with racial undertones. This is proven by their positive interactions with other customers of Caucasian heritage contrast to myself and my partner who were the only British Africans in the restaurant at the time. I observed Andre spending and having a long conversation with a table but would not even wait one second to allow us to ask questions. This establishment's mistreatment of us resulted in a negative dining experience, which is quite triggering and traumatic. As paying customers we felt very intimidated, belittled and were unable to finish the full dining experience we had ordered. If I could give 0 star would have!

I accompanied my best friend to celebrate her birthday in this restaurant and got bad experience. Firstly, we bring our cake and the front desk told us it will be charged 15 pounds if we wanna have our own cake. Later, when we asked the waitress again, she told us it cuz we won’t order dessert if we took own cake and finally charged 5 pounds. Although I don’t think we got nice service, we had to pay service fee. It should be a beautiful and happy day, but it brought a bad experience. Won’t recommend.

I want to celebrate my birthday in this restaurant and bring my own cake, but the front desk told me that if I want to eat my own cake, I need to pay them extra 15 pounds. Later, I asked the waitress, and she said that it may be because if we bring the cake, we will not order their dessert, so they will have to charge extra. But I finally got the right to eat my own cake for £5. And they did not give birthday desserts, I think as any restaurant will give corresponding blessings to the birthday people, but this restaurant only considers how to make money, really brought me a very bad experience.

Not great! Very overhyped. Dined on a Sunday evening and the music was very loud despite only a handful of people in the restaurant. The service was overkill, we ended up having 2 people coming to our table who were not communicating so kept asking us the same questions. Cocktails took ages to arrive (after the food arrived!) and were mediocre and mainly ice). Mains were small portions and cooked to death with rice microwaved and hard and potato’s brown. Sea bass was tiny. Felt extremely hurried by the waiters who kept checking on us to the point where it was very annoying! Ordered chips as the portion was so small and then while still eating those, was being asked what I want for dessert! They didn’t have the main I wanted, or the dessert so had to choose another option. Overall pretty disappointed! Should have read more reviews instead of going by the overall rating!!

Each table has a time slot of 90 minutes - fine with this in principle. I arrived exactly on time and was told my table wasn’t ready so I should wait at the bar. It was very busy. 10 minutes later I was shown to my table. It was another 5-10 minutes before drinks could be ordered as the server disappeared. Starters arrived before drinks. After meals, I asked for a dessert menu to be told that this wasn’t possible and I had to give up the table as another guest had booked. I explained that I had not actually had the full time at the table through no fault of my own. This was basically met with a ‘sorry’ and a shrug of the shoulders. A table next to mine had an identical experience. If you advertise 90 minutes, then you need to give those 90 minutes - it’s not the guests fault that you’re too busy to handle the volume of people and can’t turn tables round in time. This left a very sour taste and I wouldn’t return.

The decor of the restaurant is very impressive and it has a lovely atmosphere (although quite loud). Our server was attentive and polite, don’t have any complaints about him whatsoever. However myself and my family felt like the food was very underwhelming. I don’t think it’s worth the price at all, with the food descriptions not accurately describing the presentation. I ordered the Szechuan Tempura Sea Bass Fillet which I can only describe as tasting like a Birds Eye fillet, with 0 taste of Szechuan taste at all. I asked our server where the Szechuan component was and he said ‘it’s a powder in the batter’?? Not mentioned in the description at all and I felt like it was the kitchen cutting culinary corners. Likewise with my partners King Oyster dish, which had no mushroom to be seen and I can only assume was in the broth poured over it. Again, cutting corners. I’d recommend the place for a cocktail or dessert, not a beer as they charge around £6.50 for a 250ml of asahi (not even pints) and definitely not for the food. It is a shame to write this we were all looking forward after hearing such good things. As a positive though they gave me a complimentary birthday scoop of ice cream which was a really nice and attentive touch.

Not grand at all. Run by incompetent staff with zero organisation skills. -We made a booking on 6th of December for Birthday party of 7 for 13/01/24. On my first email I asked if we have to pay a deposit, to which Business Development Manager of Grand Pacific replied: There is no deposit required. -On 11/12/23 I received an email “kindly” requesting us to pay £70 (£10 per person) within 24hours. We paid. Then they sent us pre-order, we have completed.. Arrived on the day… Surprise, surprise! 4 of the dishes are not available and they’re not even on dinner menu. So why were there on pre order section then??? -Waitress who hardly knew what she was doing and not knowing of how to take orders from people properly, chaotically rushed around to get a replacement order. Ordered rib eye steak, without asking if I want a side she instantly moved on to somebody else, that’s what she did to everyone. Guess what, fillet steak arrived instead of ribeye, I didn’t have chance to complain because nobody came back to our table to ask if everything was okay. Honestly, I didn’t want to sit and wait for half an hour until they will bring a replacement, just wanted to eat and get out from there asap. One of the girls salad didn’t arrive as It was just simply missed out, it arrived 20min later when everyone else finished their meal. They removed her glass of wine and salad off the bill. -After initial drinks order nobody came to ask if we want more drinks. -Nobody asked if we wanted starters. -There was no food menus for everyone on the table. Why they assumed we only want the main courses? -Table next to use wasn’t cleared up at least half an hour since people have left. -One dish arrived wrong, because waitress doesn’t know how to write down things properly on piece of paper (i’ve seen that paper myself) -One dish arrived 20min late and was knocked off the bill including the drink -4 dishes THAT WE HAVE PREORDERED were not available -They knew it was a birthday table and they haven’t thought to send a complementary dish of tiny cake with candle to say Happy Birthday as other restaurants would certainly do and did in all the places i’ve been! But what do you expect from these people at not so “grand” pacific? Terrible experience. I’m glad we didn’t pay much for this disastrous dinner as January has 30% of the bill offer and we OF COURSE removed the service charge. I’m sorry for those who invested in this beautiful setting. And yes, I have wasted my time by typing this review because I hope it will help people who consider booking here to avoid this “grand” place.

Went here with colleagues for Christmas get together. I’ve not been back here in a while as my previous experiences here were lacklustre and I thought maybe time and things have changed as the reviews on google are very good. However , that sadly wasn’t the case . The service was slow and not reactive. The waitress put it down to a busy Christmas period but I’ve been to restaurants where the seating guests were just as many if not more , and service was smooth . We were informed that the management could only take a maximum of 4 payments from the table which is another strange policy. Imagine having to do lots of maths after having a bottle of wine ! The food … dry . My duck leg was dry but the potatoes were even drier . No amount of gravy could even save those tatties . The only saving grace of the restaurant was the ambience . Perhaps a glass of wine here before one head out but I would suggest elsewhere in the city for a meal

MORE AT Google

Let's start with the positives. 1. It's located in a beautiful building and this adds a great ambience to the dining room. Ok, now the positives are dealt with let's unfortunately look at the negatives. We went as a medium size group for a Christmas meal, we had all ordered prior to arriving as the restaurant requests. Upon sitting down we were told they couldn't find any drinks menus or jugs for water but they would be right back, and they were, initially with a single bowl of soup (within 2 minutes of us sitting down). When we asked for the drinks menus again and queried why the food before everyone had arrived and if we could get drinks first please we were told very rudely that they want the table back and that's just how they do it by a lady who appeared to be a manager. The food was very odd, ranging from ok to abysmal. The highlight was the gyoza, which were admittedly tasty, the rest of the meal was downhill from there. Supposed cured salmon which wasn't cured and lacked the described dressing on the salad with a patheticly small portion to the massively oversalted confit duck legs. The awful vegetables delivered in a watery sugary soup (can only assume it was a failed honey glaze). The mousse was the opposite of light and airy, the rest of the dessert selection was equally as poor. Even though they force served our starters before the group had fully arrived we were then left waiting over 40 minutes for the bill which finally arrived after 4 requests for it, then another long wait for the card machine. It was obvious they didn't have another group waiting for the table, which made the initial part of the evening even more baffling. So in summery avoid this poorly run overpriced restaurant and go to one of the many many better eateries in the city centre. Will definitely not be returning.

A group of us went for a Christmas meal. There were issues on several levels and when we tried to feedback, we were met with a shrug and a “this is how it works here” type response. We had barely sat down when the first starter turned up. Our party was not yet complete, but a friend was late, so it’s no fault of the restaurant. However, our drinks order had not been taken… in fact, we hadn’t even had sight of the drinks menu!! When I raised this with the waitress, I was informed that “we send for the food the moment you are seated so that tables can be turned round”… I get that during the busy xmas period, I am merely a number, but is there a need to be so blatant about it? Then oddly, we had to ask multiple times for the bill, and I’m writing this review while I’m waiting for said bill! Now, the food… According to the xmas menu, I was supposed to have citrus and honey cured salmon with pickled vegetables. The salmon was not cured, there was no hint of citrus and the veg was not pickled, so it was just three little bits of raw salmon (I’m hoping it’s sashimi grade) with salad. The soup was alright. The best starter was the gyoza and that’s the only one I would recommend. I then went on to have the roast sea bream with roasted peppers & onions, bok choy and tom yum broth. This was an improvement because at least everything apart from the tom yum broth was present! Quality wasn’t great though. Fish wasn’t very fresh and much too salty. The peppers & onions was nice. The confit duck was very salty as well and the turkey was okay. We did find the missing “honey” that should have been involved in curing the salmon though… the roast vegetables were swimming in it. The dessert was the best course. All 3 desserts (mousse, Christmas pudding and peach & pineapple) were decent enough. Our waiter, Danny, was absolutely lovely. He’s definitely a credit to the restaurant. The other positive about the restaurant is the ambience. It is well decorated and the noise level was just about right too. These days, I appreciate a restaurant where I can have a conversation without shouting. Overall, there are pros and cons… with the standard of food and the strange policy of wanting to turn tables around so quickly, I won’t be back, not even with the 30% sale in January. Saves them from having to turn my table around, you see.

Don't be decieved by their interior design and the ambience of this place. The service and food were shockingly poor. We were a group of 8 booked for their Festive 3-course Set Menu at 7pm. Our table wasn't even set properly. Our cutlery (the basics) were wrong way round! No drink menus on the table either. We asked for jugs of tap water but they ran out of jugs. The lady manager decided to serve our starters even though we barely warmed our seat; one friend was running late and we haven't even ordered drinks yet because there were no drink menus. Our friend contested this and the response was that "we send the food the moment you are seated so that tables can be turned around." Not quite sure why they were rushing when our booking confirmation email clearly stated that we can have the table until 9:45pm. The starters were served to us at 7:10pm with one starter left cold for the friend yet to arrive. The food... The starters: Chicken Gyoza - They were the only highlight food-wise. Crispy, hot in temperature, and had the Asian flavours whether it was miso (as advertised) or simply soya sauce, it was tasty / tastier than other dishes served. Citrus & Honey Cured Salmon - This was appalling. 3 matchstick pieces of raw salmon served with salad that wasn't fresh and without dressing. The salmon was definitely not cured and we're just hoping they're sashimi grade for health and safety. The mains: Honey Glazed Confit Duck Leg - Couldn't taste honey or hoisin sauce (as advertised) but salt. Very salty indeed. It reminded me of the Chinese preserved duck leg (臘鴨). Roast Sea Bream - The fish wasn't fresh and it was supposed to be served with bok choy which there was only one strand of it and in tom yum broth which it wasn't a broth to me. Again, tasteless. The mains were served with roast potatoes which were ok but maple roasted vegetables were not. It seemed like all the forgotten honey and broth input to dishes have been transferred to this vegetable dish. It was sickly sweet as the vegetables were dripping sugar. The desserts: Honey Roasted Peach & Pineapple - fortunately, it wasn't too sweet or maybe because we just had the overly sweet vegetables. There were hot (in temperature) pieces of peach and pineapple topped with crispy granola but I couldn't taste any cinnamon. Served with a scoop of ice-cream. It was ok. Nothing special. Chocolate & Cherry Mousse - To me, mousse should be light and airy but this was heavy and fudgy. The mousse had rich chocolate flavour while the cherry flavour came from the sauce not the mousse itself. Overall, a negative visit. I'm not rushed to return and I'm sure it was the same for the manager who was trying to rush us out from the very moment we seated.

Atmosphere was really nice, cocktails were amazing but food was poor. We booked a table with the choice of the festive set menu and upon arriving, were initially told that it was not available as they were busy. However, they soon changed their mind and let us have the menu which was the first red flag and mistake we made of staying. Our drinks arrived after our starters came. 1 out of 2 of our starters had items missing - and was incredibly bland. We let this slide and hoped for a better main but was we wrong! Both of our mains (which were different choices) had missing items and when we asked for the items to be added back onto our plate, they were very reluctant in doing so… the items missing were not small either, they were a big part of both main courses. This was easily the most disappointing meal that I have had out, and it’s a shame as we had enjoyed the ambience of the place. Money was not deducted from our bill and we paid full price. Lovely setting, very nice inside! High ceilings, quirky decor and very nice! The food: I had the Christmas Menu, turkey dinner as its Christmas and all that! Was very nice! If I was to poke a few negatives, the turkey was a bit on the dry side, but there was ample gravy so that can be forgiven, and the roat potatoes whilst lovely, we're unseasoned and you could tell they'd been reheated / sat as they were very difficult to cut. Had Chicken Gyoza to start, very nice! Desert: had the chocolate cherry mouse, and it was absolutely beautiful, very rich chocolate with fresh cream and cherry sauce! Could've eaten it over and over! Lovely! Service: starters and mains were fine, came quick enough and no complaints. Whilst ordering, one person asked for something that had ran out! They weren't told until they attempted to order, leading them to a rash decision and a starter that wasn't really wanted! Feedback: if you run out, tell people as they seat or when you go take the order, as we can all appreciate you could run out after we've been seated! Drinks: extensive cocktail and wine menu. NO DRAUGHT BEERS! Canned / Bottled beers (330ml) - £7+ 😭 Cocktails hit double figures Desert: we literally waited close to an hour post mains being taken away. Nobody asked if we'd like more drinks, we were approached twice with an apology regarding desert with no prompt from the table! We were offered a coffee on the 2nd check. We received the bill which was £350+ for 6 of us. Service charge was over £40.... We waited an hour for desert....! Service charge!? Upon leaving, nobody offered to return our coats that'd been stored! We had to find them ourselves! Worryingly, they're left on a a hanger in an unsupervised area at the base of the stairs. No tickets, not sure what the process is to get these back to rightful owners but anybody could literally walk in, grab a rail of coats and go! Please don't leave valuables in your pockets! Car keys etc. For the price, wouldn't go back! Great food, terrible drink choice (for a beer drinker), poor service! Very nice Christmas tree 🌲

Frozen roast potatoes cold Yorkshire instant mash at £5.00 for a tiny bowl hard cauliflower cheese - couldn't eat it. Asked waitress if there were new owners and expressed our on concerns and manager came and said she would teel the chef and offered free desert said we didn't want anything free. When Bill came she made a big show of saying she had deducted a small amount from the bill however none made but not bothered about that. If you want to spend £110 on substandard cold frozen undercooked food please go to the to the Grand Pacific but we will never go again!

Good and classy place in the heart of Manchester. Food was okay, service could do with a bit of improvement to match the style and the class of the restaurant.

Food was Luke warm but otherwise good quality and the service was excellent. The whole evening spoilt enormously by the constant loud playing of excruciating awful music which basically was one disco song played over and over meaning very hard to hear conversation. The style called for classical soft. Chopin statue is nearby. If not then at least vary and turn it down. There’s lots of places to eat , try them instead.

Style over substance. The building was fantastic, a really lovely setting. We had a table booked at 8 PM on a Saturday night, we received a call earlier in the day asking us if we could arrive for our table later as there had been an issue with their booking system, we agreed to this and arrived at 8:30. The waitress serving us was lovely however the food took much too long to arrive. When it did arrive it was very average. I ordered crispy Szechuan squid which was luke warm, greasy, thick rubbery chunks which was completely bland. The food thereafter was average at best. It gives me the sense of a place where quality of food comes second to the appearance of the restaurant. At the end after asking a waiter for the bill only for him to ignore my request and walk off and fold some napkins, I finally had to get up and find someone else to bring me the bill. No attempt was made to offer any discount from the bill despite the fact we accommodated the request for a later start to our meal and despite the food arriving incredibly slowly. I can accept that issues happen in a restaurant but good service would usually mean that something was offered to compensate, a complimentary drink at least would have been nice. I would not recommend this restaurant.

I am sure this is a lovely place. I went in yesterday with my partner and we wanted a meal. We were told they were to busy but we could have a drink. So we did that and the dining area was not even a quarter full. We left after our drinks and it was even quieter. It is really disappointing to see this and be treated this way as I am sure this is a lovely place to eat.

We visit the Grand Pacific for a pre concert meal and we were not disappointed! The decor is amazing and takes you back to a time long forgotten. The food is amazing & we had one of THE best fillet steaks we have every tasted, along with a few signature cocktails 🍸 All in all, it is a very classy establishment although a little more on the expensive end of the spectrum, but you are paying for an experience alongside the amazing service, food and drink. We will definitely be back!

So when we arrived at the Grand Pacific our booking was not on there system even though we’d book it through Google. We were told, they are currently changing over systems so we had no booking. We did have the confirmation for the book however. We were taken upstairs and offered a complementary cocktail from the maître d' Mark, he then offered a table for 9.15 which was a little late for us, so said he’d call other restaurant to find us somewhere else for dinner. Unfortunately this happen to another couple in the queue behind us. I actually think that we may have both booked at the same time and cause a possible break in the system. The private dinning room wasn’t being used and Mark asked both of party if we like the share this large room by sitting us and each end of the large table. We happily accepted this offer. The service staff mainly Tashia? We think that was her name was. Was kind and absolute pleasure to deal with. Once in the private dinning room we realised how lucky we were. It was lovely and quiet, even though Mark put the music on we could still hear each other speak, unlike we would in the main dining area. After dinner, Mark was so grateful that we’d been patient and polite that he give us yet another drink on him. He and his staff went above and beyond! I’ve read some of the reviews for this restaurant, and I will say being kind, polite and patient gets you much further than being aggressive, unkind and Impolite! Thank you Mark and the team.

The food was delicious but it took way too long to get any kind of service. We had to repeatedly ask for water and cutlery. The main courses came 2 hours after we sat down and two of our dishes turned up cold and had to be remade which was done quickly. It took a long time for the staff to collect plates and for both courses we had plates that were forgotten about until we flagged down a waitor. The staff delivering the food were new which is obviously fine but they had no idea what dishes they were bringing over. On a busy Saturday night I expected it to be better but it felt like the customers at the bar were given a lot of priority over diners, especially when waiting for drinks, which we could see on the end of the bar waiting to be brought to us. The drinks took over 20 mins to come and like I said, the food took over an hour. We ordered desserts which didn't take too long but they did (kindly) bring ice cream for the birthdays we were celebrating - and then they tried to charge us for them. Wait staff had to get the manager to remove it from the bill which they did do quite quickly.

Here’s the thing. This was just a poor first impression and I’m sure (hoping) our next experience will be spot on. So this is more of a calling to the management team. Basically, we wandered in on-spec hoping for a glass or two at the bar. FYI, when you enter, there’s a reception desk on the ground floor - with no-one there. We waited a bit and then climbed the stairs to the first floor bar and dining room. What a beautiful space. Still no-one to talk too. Waited a bit longer. Nothing. And then left and went to Salut for a delicious bottle of sparkling Shiraz. Oh well! To the management team: perhaps have someone fixed on the downstairs reception, on a mic, who can greet and direct customers upstairs whilst updating their colleagues in the bar/ restaurant? Not least, you’re leaving laptops at the entrance ready to be pinched. As well as your customers.

Absolutely gorgeous restaurant! We were drawn to this place since we love vintage-style dining and the interior here is simply beautiful. It's like you're stepping back in time. Unfortunately that amazing feeling is ruined by the loud and uninspired music that is being played constantly. In a place like this I had expected to hear classic tunes from the 1920s-1950s but instead it's just the usual lounge stuff you hear in so many places nowadays. This really takes something away from the experience. Food was good and the right quantity. Pricing was good in comparison to other restaurants in the same district. Our server was in training and told us this up front. She and the others that served us were kind and attentive.

It is a fusion restaurant that have a twist to Asian cuisine. The food is ok on an average side and always try to include that bit of Asia flair to it, price reasonably decent. The burger is a bit over cooked and the server actually hasn’t asked us how to cook. The desserts were nice and not too sweet. The variety of cocktails are more interesting and fancy. The seating is in general are spacious and comfy. With super high ceiling the space does give a good vibe. The helper was attentive, polite but a bit rough and generally the staff are friendly and helpful.

Take your Instagram picture, have a cocktail and leave. Also, bring something to wipe the menu down 🤦‍♀️! The food here is shocking, in-fact there was more seasoning in my cocktail than in my main course. Perhaps you would have had more luck if your mixologist was in the kitchen. I ordered king oyster mushrooms dashi. This dish came in about two minutes after ordering. I was already worried by that; nothing cooked fresh can come out of a kitchen that quickly. They make such a fuss about the broth by pouring it over in a small cast iron teapot which is lovely - only the broth is tasteless; I’m talking tap water tasteless. Although I only managed to taste it after requesting a spoon. Their choice of cutlery for this noodle dish was the worlds largest knife and fork. Combine that with a savagely placed table and chair - to give yourself the worlds most awkward eating experience. So the broth is bland; you go looking for flavour in the dish only to be met with mushrooms that have either been frozen or rehydrated; these are not fresh. As for the Gyoza, I give in. These were also bought in, you can tell, and the bases were not lovely and crispy as they should be. I’ve made them fresh at home. It’s not the most challenging process. Overall I feel as this dish is vegetarian; it’s probably not something they sell as often, so some of the ingredients are not fresh, and it shows. If you don’t sell it, take it off the menu. After that, I should have left, but I was killing some time, so I ordered dessert. OMG, why? I ordered mango soufflé, and when it got to me, I was initially impressed it had risen well! However, it was 3/4 raw the entire thing deflated when I put my spoon in it, and it turned to a sugary wallpaper paste. *Ah yes - at this point I’d also poured the mango sauce over the ice cream. The sauce is juice literally juice… at the very least this should be mango pulp something thicker with more flavour. Anyway… naturally I told the waiter that it was raw. He said I could have another. I refused due to the idea that if you can’t cook it, please don’t try again. No one seemed that apologetic, and when the bill came, it was on there. They were about to charge me for a raw soufflé. I raised it, and he once again said he would have to speak to his manager - they eventually took it off the bill. I’ve worked in hospitality, and it’s not cute when something goes wrong and stuff does go wrong - I get it. Though how you manage the mistakes is essential. As the manager, I would have come over and apologised and at least shown some care - but that didn’t happen. P.S Why is all the cutlery so large? It’s giving fee-fi-fo-fum …

This is by far the most uninspired High Tea you can find in whole of the UK. Maybe it was nice and exciting some years ago, but besides the gorgeus premise and the nice silver tray the scones were served on, all felt cheap. The scones were flat bread rolls, the "pastry" and sandwhiches were dry and uninspired. All in all way too expensive and nearly a fraud in this extrvagant salon.

We wanted to take my parents out after they took care of our dog for a week while we were on holiday. We made a reservation here after a recommendation from my partner’s colleague. We were greeted by the friendly hosts downstairs. And the ambiance was nice. The staff were also friendly. Unfortunately from there it went downhill. The prawn cocktail was a disaster. Served with ice cold pre buttered bread straight from the fridge. The sauce was pink salad cream and the prawns had no taste at all. The crispy squid became acceptable after adding lemon juice and a lot of salt. The main course was criminally bad. The cod: old, dry and tasted as if it were out of date. The chickpeas that came with it were ice cold straight from the fridge. The daahl was bland but ok with a bit of salt. The chicken on the Caesar salad was fine. However the salad had huge un-grated chunks of Parmesan cheese and far too much dressing - it was more of a salty stew than a salad. My dad’s lamb curry was so bland that he queried whether the meat was actually lamb. The roti it was served with appeared to actually be a tortilla. My mom’s oyster mushroom dashi was the winner of the evening. Tasty with lots of fresh vegetables. All around incredibly disappointed. Having said that, we politely complained about the cod and lamb and the manager decided to remove all of the main courses from our bill. As I said above, the staff were ok but on this occasion were badly let down by the kitchen.

This restaurant is an amazing Victorian space and could be a very good restaurant. Unfortunately, the impressions were rather mixed. More or less the first drink on the menu is a very special grand pacific gin tonic that I ordered first. Instead, I got totally normal gin and tonic and when I asked I got the response that they didn’t have this drink anymore. The main course was announced to be accompanied by sweet potato mash, and since I like that I ordered it. But on the plate was only a tiny decoration of mash, and when I asked about it they said I could not have more of this kind but had to order another side dish separately. Finally on the bill there were two gins listed instead of one. Of the three staff that served tonight two were very friendly and one rather less. The food was still good, but for a classy restaurant this is too uneven a performance. I think the potential is there.
