Gower Seafood Hut in Swansea

Great little seafood spot for a tasty bit of local fare.

Great spot for a snack on a Sunny day. We stopped here with our 2 year old son. The playground right next door was perfectly placed for us to sit and enjoy some food while he ran around. Small menu but what they do serve is done well and the people working in the seafood hut were all very friendly.

What a great find! We had an absolutely delicious lunch here today and will definitely be returning.

Great little hut. Would recommend for lunch or an afternoon snack. The plaice was the best thing we tried. Lovely fries with parsley. Will come back for the cockles!

The couple running it is very nice, and the story they have on the blackboard is very enchanting. The food is ok too, but the portions are very small compared to the price. I recommend it for a good experience, a story, and a picture.

Recommended when visiting Mumbles. Not your typical fish and chips - try their popcorn cockles, calamari & deep fried whitebait. Pair it with chips (sometimes they do sliced potatoes) Eat in the park / anywhere in the prom

Absolutely fantastic food. The calamari was light and not chewy, the white bait was a mass of ligthly battered heaven, the plaice wad fresh and cooked to perfection. Well worth the 5ins as the food was cooked to order. A must visit if you are in the Gower / Mumbles.

Simply small plate of fish and chips, slightly overcooked prawns in sweet jam without the chilli. Mandolin chopped spuds " deep fried potatoes", cooked well.

Freshly caught and freshly made. A delightful spot for a snack. Breading as light as air and a fresh squeeze of lemon on top adds to a delicious afternoon bite. Arrived at 12:30 and there was already a long queue of people so get there early. Appreciated the social distancing matters while taking orders and serving food.

Super duper seafood to take away and eat on the sea front (or in your car if the rain comes!) - could be the best view from any food outlet in the Mumbles. There was a bit of queue but it moved so quickly and service was friendly and efficient.

Absolute dream and super fresh and delicious! Arrived both times just before closing and most items were sold out. Still got to try their chill prawns, whitebait and popcorn cockles. Would travel to Mumbles just for this - especially the cockles popcorn. Go early in the day to get your pick from their menu!

During our week's holiday in Swansea/The Gower we had a few simple ambitions. One of them was consuming fish and chips on the sea front. After searching Google for "Mumbles fish and chips" there didn't seem to be many options. However Gower Seafood Hut stood out as being something slightly different, in the right location, and with many good reviews. The research really paid off because we struck gold here! We both opted for the Plaice Goujons and Deep Fried Potatoes which were absolutely delicious. The fish was cooked to order so there was a very reasonable ten minute wait. The front of house staff then called us over and presented us with options of sauces and condiments which they applied for us in a covid safe manner. They even supplied a tray for transporting the feast to the adjacent sea-front benches. Both the fish and potatoes were cooked to perfection, golden and crunchy on the outside, soft and tasty inside, with no hint of excess fat. Good size portions too. Even the accompanying slice of buttered bread was obviously from a quality loaf. The tartare sauce appeared to be home made too. All-in-all the quality of food and service was second to none, especially at these very reasonable prices. We may have to return next year, just so we can gorge ourselves again. Thanks very much!

Excellent seafood. Plaice Goujons were perfectly cooked, good home-made tartare sauce. Don’t forget the fried slices of potato with thyme, absolutely delicious.

Fresh and yummy seafood! Better than in some restaurants I’ve eaten at. Definitely try the crispy prawns and potatoes, served with variety of yummy condiments and even fresh thyme! Good job!

Omg! What can I say! Stunning! I love seafood and to have it cooked fresh in front of me is even better. I had the salt & chilli prawns and my partner had popcorn cockles. I will be going back to try their other choices on the menu soon.

We'll give it a six stars out of five. The food was so fresh with the taste of the sea. We had chillie prawn, calamari, plaice goujon, whitebait and deep fried potatos... Spot on mate.

Really good food, well worth a visit. When I visited a few things sold out really quickly to its worth trying to get there for opening time.

Stumbled across here while searching for an open Fish 'n' Chip shop in Mumbles whilst on a recent short break and we struck gold! Super friendly and welcoming team, the food was cooked fresh and was delicious - I even went back and ordered more straightaway. Definitely would recommend because the combination of eating freshly cooked, tasty, local produce in that location was just magical. Will definitely return.

We had a day out at the Mumbles and treated ourselves to some freshly cooked seafood from the Gower Seafood Hut. It was fairly late in the afternoon so some items had already run out due to their popularity. We were still able to get popcorn cockles and whitebait. Both were freshly prepared and quite good portions. All the staff were very friendly and efficiently quick despite it having been a long hot day for them. I can highly recommend if you want a quick seaside treat.

Amazing quality seafood. Been wanting to visit for years and it didn't dissapoint. If the weather isn't great there's a big tent around the corner where you can eat your seafood and order some drinks from bars across the road. Their Cockle Popcorn was the best I've ever had

Consistently consistent! The food is great but be aware its a tiny operation so you may have to wait up to an hour for your food but they tell you the wait before you order. Go for a stroll and come back for your food, it's worth it.

This is a slightly delayed review as I visited this place on a sunny Sunday in September.I'd been a student in Swansea for 3 years and never heard of this place.. what a shame!The best fried fish I've ever had, really fresh and tasty and a lovely variety.The lady taking the orders (can't remember her name) was so warm and friendly, and the cooks were jolly. A real treat - I wish I lived closer I'd be going all the time!

As a lover of seafood I was delighted to see the Seafood Hut and loved the popcorn cockles with aioli, whilst my husband, not a fishlover thoroughly enjoyed the plaice goujons with tartare sauce. The accompanying golden sliced fried potatoes were excellent. All cooked to order and eaten sitting in the sun on the slipway. Very friendly service, everything yummy. Could have eaten some of everything, such care was taken.

Having seen the seafood hut on previous visits we finally made a plan to go there and check it out. The great reviews on tripadvisor gave us high hopes and we were not disappointed. Food is cooked to order so we had a short wait but it was worth it. Calamari and spicy prawns were amazing but, my goodness, the popcorn cockles were fantastic, not to mention totally original! My mouth waters even now at the thought of them. Sitting, eating our freshly fried, local seafood whilst watching the sea and passers by was the ultimate seaside experience. I highly recommend trying this place if you are a seafood lover.

Visited today with my two grandsons who absolutely love seafood and we were not disappointed ( apart from they had sold out of crab, but was reliably informed that they would have more next Thursday so we will be returning). Food is cooked to perfection and super fresh and tasty. As everything is cooked to order you have a little wait but boy its well worth it!!We had fritto misto, popcorn cockles, calamari and potatoes. We highly recommend and it was lovely to sit in the sunshine with a fantastic view eating scrumptious seafood. Sunday heaven. Thank you all.

What a find! Saw this on trip advisor. My wife had suggested fish and chips on the front after a good day’s walking. Nice idea but the quality on offer here took it to a different level. Melt in the mouth calamari. Gorgeous dressed crab. Incredibly fresh plaice gougons. And all with amazing service. So friendly. A magical experience.

If you are in Mumbles you should pay the Gower Seafood Hut a visit. Fresh seafood, delicious homemade sauces and friendly owners. The Frito Misto always sells out quickly so need to get there early for it.

We tried them 2 days in a row, and on day 1 we both tried the sweet chilli prawns, which were a surprisingly big portion, the chilli jam was smashing. On day 2 I tried the dressed crab which was caught and prepared by them, and my wife was disappointed that she didn't order her own portion as it was possibly one of the best dressed crabs ever! They even called over to us to make sure that we were happy etc. Make sure you check them out!

Had some fried calamari and chilli prawns from here yesterday. I have a 2 year old and a 6 year old........ They stole the lot having never had seafood before. Massove thumbs up guys great food and service to boot. 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Definitely worth a visit! Lovely fresh seafood, with a casual takeaway setting. As the sun was shining we could eat by the steps on the slipway. We would eat here again!

How can it be both? Eating is the hole experience not just the food, great food but trying to eat off paper plates it's not a great experience.. When I get food from here again I'd drive, take the food to where I was staying and eat off a proper plate with maybe some chips, and other bits..White bait, goujons were really nice, prawns seems out of place, firstly they should not be served from a "shack", its a bit like they were cooked up in a 5* restaurant then taken to a "shack" I could have eaten 3 portions..

We live about 40 mins away on the other side of the Gower and decided to have an afternoon in The Mumbles. We love sea food so The Gower Seafood Hut was a must visit. Might sound a bit piggish but this is why we come so we had Popcorn Cockles, Spicy Prawns, Calamari and Whitebait. Must admit this was the best seafood we’ve ever had. This is worth going out your way to make sure you experience this food at this location. The set up is a converted horse box, this is street food at its best.

They were very busy when we went and had to wait half an hour for our food. It was well worth it as the food was fresh and delicious. Potatoes had herbs on them and much nicer than expected.Friendly service and we were told how long to expect to wait.

A simple hut/horsebox? serving a limited fish menu. But such excellent freshness and quality: The haddock goujons and fried potatoes with garlic mayonnaise (total £7.50), cooked to order, were the best 'fish and chips' I've tasted in a long time. No tables, but promenade benches with views across the bay.

This was my second visit for food and it did not disappoint me. Really enjoyed the food. The chilli prawns are amazing.

First visit after lockdown. Mum had plaice Goujons and I had my favourite calamari. All in all still the best seafood around.
